As a child, Peta and her family often and unexpectedly moved to remote places, which was caused by the profession of her parents. When the girl was 5 years old, the family, which by that time already had a son, Rob, moved to Papua New Guinea. In the new environment, the girl began to get seriously ill and barely recovered from malaria, which dragged on for 9 months.

After her recovery, at the encouragement of her grandmother, Peta took her health seriously: she followed a strict daily routine with early rises, worked on hardening, and took up sports. Her choice fell on basketball, and when she went to school, she also fell in love with judo. The girl grew up active and independent, easily getting close to new people and making friends. She had to learn this, because over the years of study she changed a dozen schools.

The girl was her father's favorite, and her mother was worried that her lively and sharp daughter lacked femininity and grace. Peta often ran away from the dance school where her mother sent her, and willingly exchanged dresses and skirts for jeans.

In 1985, the girl had to go through her first personal drama: her parents’ divorce. At first Peta decided to stay with her mother, but later moved to her grandparents. In her youth, the future actress continued to play sports and even joined the Australian national netball team. At the same time, the girl was noticed in the show business industry, and she received offers from modeling agencies and entered into her first contracts.

Biography[ | ]

Youth[ | ]

She was born into the family of retired officer Wilson Darcy and caterer Carlene White[2]. Four years later she had a brother, Rob.

In 1975 she moved to Papua New Guinea and became ill with malaria for 9 months. After this, Grandmother Elizabeth, who nursed her, resolutely took up the physical education of her granddaughter. She got her up at 4 in the morning, doused her with ice water, quickly threw an egg into the frying pan for her and sent her to basketball practice. A little later, already at school, Pita also took up judo.

The mother was seriously concerned about her daughter's appearance. Long, angular, sharp, not a girl growing up, but a kind of “tomboy”. Therefore, Pita’s mother enrolled Pita in the dance section, but Pita constantly ran away from classes. Her mother bought her dresses, and Pita used them as bedding for her pets, like a wild boar. The father saw the mother's concern, but was secretly proud of his favorite. He perceived her as his eldest son. With her and her brother Rob, they won a river regatta and received a prize - a toilet seat, which her father still keeps.

She then moved frequently, changing schools every six months. At the age of 8, Pita and his mother spent New Year's Eve in a hotel. Pita learned to adapt her personality to each new place and find new friends, which played an important role for her in the future. And in 1985, her parents divorced. They never talked about it.
