Ruslan SKVORTSOV: “Going on stage and ballet is always a struggle with yourself”

Biography

Pyotr Skvortsov was born into the most ordinary Moscow family; his parents had nothing to do with cinema or theater.
The boy’s grandfather at one time graduated from GITIS and worked at the Irkutsk Theater and Voronezh Youth Theater, but, unfortunately, did not live to see the birth of his grandson. However, perhaps this is what influenced the fact that the mother took the boy to the children's studio in the Central House of Actors named after. A.A. Yablochkina. The teachers recognized the talent of the young actor right away. Pyotr Skvortsov first appeared on the theater stage in the children's studio productions - Tom Sawyer and The Frog Princess. And then things started to escalate. The actor starred in his first film, the action movie Montana, in 2007, when he was only 13 years old.

After receiving a school certificate, Pyotr Skvortsov entered the Moscow Art Theater School, from which he graduated in 2020. He studied on the course of Dmitry Brusnikin, under whose guidance he played complex roles in the plays “Demons” and “This Is Me Too.”

Childhood

Pyotr Skvortsov was born on June 12, 1994 in Moscow. Peter's parents were not associated with theater or cinema; his father works as a sailor, but his grandfather, a graduate of GITIS, served in the Irkutsk theater, then in the Voronezh Youth Theater. To Skvortsov’s great regret, grandfather died before the boys were born.

According to the horoscope, Petr Skvortsov is Gemini, and according to the eastern calendar - Dog

Artistic Peter already in childhood decided on his future profession. The reason for this was his friend, a girl 5 years older - together they came up with scenes and staged sketches. He studied the basics of skill at the House of Actors named after A. A. Yablochkina.

Pyotr Skvortsov made his film debut in the film “Montana”

At the age of 13, Peter first appeared on a film set, starring in an episode of Alexander Atanesyan’s action film “Montana.” Soon Skvortsov got a tiny but bright role in an episode of the TV series “Visyaki”, and then a larger role in Roman Prygunov’s adventure film “Indigo” about children with unusual abilities.

After graduating from school, Skvortsov entered the Moscow Art Theater School, in the workshop of Dmitry Brusnikin.

Theater

Pyotr Skvortsov himself considers himself more of a theater actor than a film actor. “I graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School, Dmitry Brusnikin’s course, and we created a team called “Brusnikin’s Workshop.” We created our own theater, fluttered out from under the wing of the studio school and began our separate existence. I always dreamed of working with a group of like-minded people, but I didn’t want to go to a large repertory theater. Fate gave us a chance, we’ll see.”

Brusnikinsky is a very successful theater project. Perhaps that is why tickets for their performances “Cavalry” or “Svan” at the Center named after. Sun. Meyerhold's works are selling like hot cakes. In addition, the workshop became part of the Drama Theater “Man”.

In 2016, Pyotr Skvortsov became a resident of the Moscow Experimental Theater “Praktika”. For his role in the play “This is Me Too” at this theater, the actor was awarded the “Golden Leaf” award.

Work in the theater

Even during his student years, Peter began to receive from the course director significant roles in performances that Brusnikin personally staged. In particular, we are talking about the productions “It’s Me” and “Demons”, in which Skvortsov showed himself exclusively on the positive side. Most recently, the actor joined the troupe of the capital’s experimental theater “Praktika”.

He himself considers himself one of the actors who gravitate more to the theater stage than to the film set.

Movie

Pyotr Skvortsov received his first serious film role in 2008. Director Roman Prygunov invited the boy to the film “Indigo”. A group of ordinary-looking teenagers are hiding from prying eyes on the roof of a Moscow high-rise building. Their chosenness forces them to seek solitude and stay together. They are Indigos, people of the future. They sense danger, understand the language of animals, read minds and remember their past lives. Their uniqueness frightens some and delights others. One of these characters, a boy named Tikhon, was played by 14-year-old Pyotr Skvortsov at that time. With this role, the actor attracted the attention of not only the audience, but also the directors.

In 2009, the actor was invited to play the role of drummer Kolya in the film Tender May. A year later, he was entrusted with the main role in the film “It Doesn’t Hurt for a Fighter.” In this sports drama, Pyotr Skvortsov played 14-year-old Slavik, who grows up on the outskirts of a provincial town in conditions of virtual homelessness. Fate brings the guy together with a wise and insightful sambo coach, and the teenager’s life changes dramatically. In the same year, the actor took part in the film “When the Wild Rosemary Blooms,” portraying the orphanage resident Korych.

A year later, director Sergei Ginzburg invited Pyotr Skvortsov to his film “The Life and Adventures of Mishka Yaponchik,” where the actor played the Odessa bandit Yaponchik as a child. In 2013, Peter was involved in the series “Ashes”, where his partners were Vladimir Mashkov and Evgeny Mironov. In 2014, the film “Skinless” was released, and Pyotr Skvortsov, together with Elizaveta Ryzhikh, became the main characters, reincarnated as students in love.

At the same time, the fantastic drama “The Calculator” directed by Dmitry Grachev was released. According to the plot of the film, ten prisoners sentenced to lifelong exile from the planet XT-59 set off on a dangerous journey through the Sargasso Swamp. Petr Skvortsov plays one of the characters - a young man named Jaime.

In 2016, at less than 22 years old, the actor was destined to walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the first time. He presented the film “The Apprentice” directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, in which he played the main role - a rebel, a modern young man Veniamin who disagrees with everyone. The film was well received by critics. Moreover, the film was shot in 19 days. At the Cannes Film Festival, the audience warmly received the film and highly appreciated the skill of Pyotr Skvortsov. A little later, the actor received the Golden Unicorn Awards for Best Actor.

In 2018, Pyotr Skvortsov took part in Alexei Sidorov’s film “T-34,” dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War. This military-patriotic drama is based on the true story of a Soviet tank driver who managed to escape from German captivity on a T-34 tank. The action of the film "T-34" takes place in 1941 during the Great Patriotic War. The film was shot with the participation of the Rossiya TV channel.

Film producer Ruben Dishdishyan says that “T-34” is our largest project in the last five years, and we are placing a serious bet on it. Three years passed from the moment Alexey Sidorov wrote the application for the T-34 until the start of filming. All this time, painstaking work was going on on the script. Our task was to make it as spectator-friendly as possible, dynamic, modern, aimed at different audiences, so that the film would be spectacular for young people, accustomed to seeing the best examples of the Hollywood genre, and at the same time with a deep exciting story and characters - for people of the older generation . "T-34" has everything to become an event film, and we and our partners will try not to disappoint the viewer."

Movies

In addition to the aforementioned films, in which Skvortsov starred at the age of 14, at the time he entered the theater university, the guy had several more films and TV series in his collection. Moreover, Peter appeared in them not in episodes, but in leading roles.

At the age of 16, he starred in the melodrama “220 Volts of Love” and two dramatic full-length films: “It Doesn’t Hurt for a Fighter” and “How I Dealt with Death.” The roles in the last two films required skill from the young actor, as well as depth and drama. Pyotr Skvortsov coped with the task set by the directors masterfully.

Therefore, at the age of 17, he was offered to play a hero named Ivan Bystin-Okhla in the film “Fairy Tale. Yes" and the young Jap in the top-rated series "The Life and Adventures of Mishka Jap."

Dmitry Brusnikin had few students with such a track record. The mentor immediately appreciated the diamond that fell into his hands and made every effort to turn his talent into a diamond. Under the strict guidance of Brusnikin, Pyotr Skvortsov played difficult roles in the plays “Demons” and “This Is Me Too.”

After receiving his diploma, the talented actor was accepted into the troupe of the Chelovek theater studio, and a year later, in 2016, he became a resident of the Moscow experimental theater Praktika.

Pyotr Skvortsov considers himself more of a theater artist than a film actor. He puts acting on stage much higher than acting on the set. Nevertheless, the young man continued to act. But the films in which he appeared could not be called hack work for the sake of easy money. In the science fiction film “The Calculator” he played with Evgeny Mironov and Kirill Kazakov. And in Vladimir Bek’s talented underground project “Without Skin,” the director entrusted him with the main role.

In 2020, Beck again invited Skvortsov to the new film “Bird”. And again he entrusted Peter with the key image. The film was warmly received at the 2morrow festival. Later, in an interview, the director admitted that “there is an abyss inside this young actor.” And Vladimir Bek wrote the script for the project “Bird” precisely “for Skvortsov.”

Real fame came to the artist with the film “The Apprentice” by Kirill Serebrennikov. Skvortsov's hero, schoolboy Veniamin Yuzhin, quotes the Bible and masterfully manipulates his peers for the sake of self-affirmation and thirst for power.

The film was well received by critics and went to Cannes. Moreover, the film was shot in 19 days. At the Cannes Film Festival, the audience warmly received the film and highly appreciated the skill of Pyotr Skvortsov. A little later, the actor received the Golden Unicorn Awards for Best Actor.

When The Apprentice was released, it instantly became the event of the year.

Personal life

On December 22, 2020, Pyotr Skvortsov married Alexandra Mikhalkova, the eldest granddaughter of Nikita Mikhalkov. Very soon the couple had a son.

They started talking about the relationship between young people back in mid-2017. In the fall, Alexandra posted a photo on her account on one of the social networks demonstrating her interesting position.

Alexandra Mikhalkova did not follow in the footsteps of her famous relatives, but devoted herself to art. She is not a public figure, rarely appears at social events, and even on social networks prefers to talk about art.

Actor career

In 2009, Peter appeared as the drummer of the group “Tender May” in the film of the same name by Vladimir Vinogradov. The next year, Skvortsov received his first leading role - in the drama “It Doesn’t Hurt for a Fighter,” the young actor played the teenager Slavik, a resident of a provincial town who has to choose the right path in life.

On the set of the film “Tender May” In 2011, Sergei Ginzburg’s serial film “The Life and Adventures of Mishka Yaponchik” was released, telling the story of the life of the legendary crime boss. It was this hero who was portrayed by Peter in his youth, while the main role was assigned to Evgeniy Tkachuk.

Pyotr Skvortsov and Sergei Shnurov in the film “It Doesn’t Hurt for a Fighter” During the same period of time, Skvortsov could be seen in the military saga “MUR. The Third Front", the serial comedy "Matchmakers" and one of the short stories of the film "Fairy Tale. Yes” (which also starred Ksenia Rappoport, Gosha Kutsenko and Sergei Burunov).

A still from the film “The Life and Adventures of Mishka Yaponchik” 2014 brought Skvortsov the main role in the arthouse drama “Without Skin” by Vladimir Bek and participation in the science fiction film based on the story “The Calculator” by Alexander Gromov, which was a box office failure.

Pyotr Skvortsov in the military saga “MUR. Third Front "Skvortsov admits that he is more of a theater than a film actor. In 2020, Peter graduated from the Studio School and, together with like-minded guys from the course, he created his own theater group, “Brusnikin’s Workshop,” whose performances (“Cavalry,” “Svan”) could be seen at the Center. Meyerhold. Soon the “Brusnikinites” became part of the Drama Theater “Man”.

Pyotr Skvortsov studied the craft with Dmitry Brusnikin. In 2020, Skvortsov became a resident of the Praktika experimental theater. For his role in the play “This is Me Too” in this theater, the young actor received the Golden Leaf Award.

Pyotr Skvortsov in the play “This is Me Too” Then he played the main role in Kirill Serebrennikov’s film “The Apprentice”. Previously, the director and artistic director of the Gogol Center staged a play of the same name, where the main character, Veniamin Yuzhin, who fanatically embraced religion, was played by Nikita Kukushkin. The rest of the cast of the play “migrated” to the film without changes. “The Apprentice” and “Swan” have a common idea. In “Svan” there is the dictatorship of a poetic state, in “The Apprentice” there is loyalty to the letter of religion. In 2020, the young actor starred in a supporting role in the comedy series “You All Infuriate Me” and the historical drama “The Duelist” with Pyotr Fedorov. In the same year, a film was released in cinemas, which became a breakthrough in Skvortsov’s career. The young man played the main role in the scandalous drama by Kirill Serebrennikov “The Apprentice” about a teenager who enters into a fierce battle with those around him for his religious beliefs. “The Apprentice”: trailer for the film by Kirill Serebrennikov with the participation of Pyotr SkvortsovWorking with Serebrennikov and venerable actors - Yulia Aug, Victoria Isakova, Nikolai Roshchin and others - made an indelible impression on the young actor. I especially remember the work on the final scene - it was in it, playing in tandem with Alexander Gorchilin, that he felt, in his own words, “the partner’s thrill from the game.”

Pyotr Skvortsov, Victoria Isakova, director Kirill Serebrennikov and Alexander Gorchilin (from left to right) at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. The film became Serebrennikov’s first work to receive an award at the Cannes Film Festival - the film was presented in the Un Certain Regard category and won the François Prize of the Independent French Press Chalet. For the trip to Cannes, Peter had to rent a jacket from a friend. Peter himself was nominated for the Nika Award in the Discovery of the Year category (however, the award went to director and screenwriter Alexei Krasovsky).

Pyotr Skvortsov in the role of a fanatically religious teenager Pyotr is busy not only in independent films - in 2020 he could be seen on the Domashny TV channel in the serial drama “Not Together” and in Margarita Mikhailova’s drama “Hit” about the adventures of provincial girls in the capital.
