In 1997, Wilson received her school leaving certificate, joined the international youth exchange program (Rotary) and went to South Africa. Here in Tanzania, Rebel suffered from malaria. Attacks of the disease caused her to hallucinate, in which the future actress saw herself going on stage to receive an Oscar.
