Vanessa Anne Hudgens

(English: Vanessa Anne Hudgens; born December 14, 1988, Salinas, California) is an American actress and singer.

Biography[ | ]

She was born to Gina and Greg Hudgens. Vanessa's mother is of Filipino, Chinese and Spanish descent, and her father is Irish-Indian-American.[3][4][5] Since the age of 8, she has been participating in musical theater productions, and therefore studied the high school curriculum at home. The family subsequently moved to Los Angeles after Vanessa successfully auditioned for commercial television. After that, she starred in the show and television series “Five Twins”, Cover Me

,
Still Standing
, etc. The first films with her participation - “Thirteen” (2003) and “Harbourers of the Storm” (2004) - were not very successful at the box office. Vanessa became widely known for her leading role as Gabriella Montez in the film High School Musical (2006).

Hudgens previously starred in a swimsuit commercial for the same company in 2005. Vanessa then continued acting for the Disney Channel and began her singing career: her debut album, entitled “V,” was released in the first half of September 2006. She entered into an agreement with Hollywood Records, a record label owned by Disney.

In August 2007 at the Teen Choice Awards

Hudgens was named "Best New Female Artist".

Her younger sister Stella also became an actress.

She has Irish, Spanish and Filipino roots, so the girl has a very unique beauty. The family was creative, her grandparents were musicians, and the girl inherited rare vocal abilities. From early childhood, she gave concerts for her family, who encouraged Vanessa’s passion in every possible way. She began singing at the age of eight in local musical theater productions such as The Wizard of Oz, The King and I, Cinderella, etc. Hudgens attended Orange County High School for the Arts. But in high school, she was home-schooled because she was unable to attend classes at an educational institution due to her constant employment at rehearsals for theatrical performances. After graduating from school, the girl firmly decided that she wanted to become an actress. The family had to move to Los Angeles.

Personal life[ | ]

In the October 2007 issue of Teen

Hudgens confirmed that she is dating her High School Musical co-star Zac Efron.[6][7] However, they separated at the end of 2010[8][9]. In 2011, Vanessa began dating her Journey 2: The Mysterious Island co-star Josh Hutcherson[10].

Since September 2011, she dated Austin Butler[11]. The couple separated at the beginning of 2020[12].

Scandal[ | ]

On September 6, 2007, scandalous nude photos of Hudgens hit the Internet. She later apologized for them[13][14]. Disney Channel Representative

said that the film company will continue to work with the actress[15][16]. However, on August 6, 2009, new nude photographs of Hudgens, taken by her on a mobile phone, appeared online.[17]

In June 2010, in an interview with American Glamor

Vanessa Hudgens admitted that she still suffers from the photo scandal that erupted in 2007 and 2009. On this occasion she stated:

I still feel awkward when I think about this situation. But, it seems to me, thanks to the attacks of the press, I became stronger. It's a shame that the photos were intended for private viewing

Hot photos

Hot photos of Vanessa Hudgens constantly appear on the Internet. In 2007, personal photographs of a half-naked actress, as a result of the actions of attackers, ended up on the Internet, causing a real sex scandal.

Not taught by bitter experience, in 2009 the actress again became the center of a sex scandal. This time, the attackers stole her Blackberry and posted photographs of a completely naked actress posing in front of a mirror and on a bed on the Internet. The stolen photographs caused indignation at Disney, which terminated the contract with Vanessa in the wake of the scandal.

In addition to the stolen photographs, Vanessa’s collection includes 3 erotic photo shoots:

  1. In 2011, the actress posed for Detals magazine, where, as planned by photographer Eric Davidson, she posed in a black tight bodysuit. The sexy photos of the actress caused a lot of controversy and were rumored to be taken as revenge on ex-boyfriend Zac Efron.
  2. Also in 2011, Vanessa posed for Candies, appearing before the audience in a purple swimsuit.
  3. In 2013, the actress posed in lingerie, the color of a dusty rose, for the men's magazine Maxim, and also gave interviews, talking about her filming and novels.

In 2012, photographers photographed the actress while on vacation in Hawaii. The bikini-clad star almost lost her swimsuit top and again became the center of another sex scandal.

In recent years, the actress has been more cautious and tries not to pose naked, choosing more revealing clothes for filming and gradually turning into a style icon.

Naturally, these are not all films with the participation of Vanessa Hudgens. In particular, in 2009 the world saw a comedy called “Bandslam”, where she played the role of Sam. Movies

Filming in commercials and TV shows, of course, was not exactly what the young actress dreamed of, but they gave her considerable experience. To further improve her professionalism, Vanessa began studying acting courses. At the same time, she continued to persistently go to auditions, and in 2003 she finally made her debut in a big movie. The girl was given the role of Noel in a film called “Thirteen.” The film told about the difficult life of teenagers, including alcoholism, drug addiction and underage sex. Such films are usually received ambiguously by the public, but become widely known.

Thanks to the hype surrounding the film Thirteen, Hudgens was noticed by other directors. All in the same year, when the girl was only 16 years old, she also starred in the films Stormbreakers and The Garcia Brothers.

Vanessa got her next serious role in 2006: a girl with a charming appearance and a beautiful voice played the main female character in the TV movie “High School Musical.” The main male role in the film was played by Zac Efron. The film proved popular among teenagers and young adults, and the second and third parts of High School Musical were filmed in 2007 and 2008, respectively.

The film became a real breakthrough for the previously little-known Vanessa. Her portrayal of Gabriella Montez turned into one of the most popular pop culture characters of the time. Journalists did not stop writing about the young actress, and fans of the film went crazy about her. Moreover, thanks to this film, the girl received several nominations and awards: at the Teen Choice Awards, Kid's Choice Awards, ShoWest Convention.

Vanessa enjoyed singing and dancing so much that after the huge success of High School Musical, she decided to pursue her solo musical career. In 2006, the actress released her first full-length album, entitled “V,” and in 2008, the album “Identified.” For these works, the girl was also awarded at the Teen Choice Awards (she was recognized as the winner in the category “Best Newcomer Singer”).

In the second half of the 2000s, Hudgens finally decided to return to her acting career. At first, she starred in several films similar to her previous works: intended primarily for teenage and youth audiences. These are the projects “Terribly Beautiful”, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”, “Spring Breakers”.

Obviously, the girl could not remain in such a role: otherwise, she would have forever been assigned the status of an actress in films for teenagers. Therefore, in 2013, she agreed to star in the dramatic thriller “The Frozen Ground,” where her scene partners were John Cusack and Nicolas Cage. The same year, the action movie Machete Kills was released, starring Michelle Rodriguez and Danny Trejo, where Vanessa played a minor character.

In 2020, the television series Powerless premiered, starring Hudgens. This series is supposed to be the first comedy sitcom based on the universe of DC characters. Vanessa plays Emily Locke, the head of the research and development department of one of the branches of the well-known company. This branch develops various products to improve the safety of ordinary people who find themselves victims of clashes between supervillains and superheroes.

How to always be beautiful and like yourself: 4 tips from Vanessa Hudgens

The everyday life of actress, singer and Kiehl's brand ambassador Vanessa Hudgens is scheduled minute by minute. Filming in films, for one of which the actress somehow had to gain 10 kg and say goodbye to long curls, and in the series, recently launched the first season of “Powerless” with Vanessa in the title role, and now a collaboration with Kiehl’s. At the same time, the actress always looks perfect, how does she manage to do this? She told us everything - read and be inspired!

About sport

“My passion is outdoor fitness. I advise you to find an active activity that you enjoy. Personally, I prefer yoga in my backyard, cycling and hiking. It makes me happy. When I’m very tired due to endless filming and touring, yoga in the fresh air helps me recover and is generally an excellent cure for the blues and stress.”

About the importance of drinking

“My makeup artist Karen Mitchell once told me to drink as much clean water as possible, which is what I do. I also carefully watch what I eat. I love colorful dishes with lots of fruits and vegetables. They don’t just lift your spirits; reasonable nutrition helps maintain health and beauty. And early sleep and getting up with the sun give me strength and energy!”

About skin care

“When I was young, my mother taught me how to properly care for my skin. By the way, it was she who instilled in me a love for Kiehl's, and since then I have been their devoted fan. I like that in the brand’s stores you can always consult with a specialist, get practical advice and suitable care products. And of course, receive miniatures of care as a gift. My favorite products are the Avocado Eye Cream, Night Revitalizing Concentrate, and Calendula Moisturizing Mask. I love all these Kiehl's products; the mask, for example, instantly tidies up the skin and fights dullness and dryness. And most importantly, care takes only 5 minutes. In the morning I always wash my face with calendula gel foam. If you have problem skin, pimples and inflammation, take this product into service! After cleansing, I tone and moisturize the skin. And so twice a day. This is a small but very important step in skin care and a good way to keep it healthy and youthful.”

About love for nature

“If you, like me, love nature, surround yourself with it. When I'm on set all day and don't have time to be outside, I wear floral clothes or add flowers to my hair. All my friends know how much I love the flower crown filter from Snapchat!”

Her breakthrough role remains her biggest gig to date

Although Hudgens made her silver screen debut in 2002, she didn't find commercial success until 2005, when she was cast as Gabriella Montez in Disney's High School of Music. It was a breakthrough film role that would go on to become one of the most successful Disney Channel Original Movies of all time. When HSM folded in 2008, Hudgens wasn't even 20 years old. She was coming off HSM high, the world was her oyster and she had her whole career ahead of her. That's why it's too bad that at the ripe age of 19, her biggest role was behind her.

After leaving the Disney Channel, Hudgens vocalized about her desire to be taken seriously as an actress. And if her TV and film credits are any indication, she's definitely working hard to find a role that will help her step out of the shadows of teen stardom.

However, while the brunette's beauty certainly hasn't surpassed her thumbs for most of the last decade, her post-HSM career has seemingly been more about quantity than quality, with no role to date even coming close to earning her HSM level recognition.

She's still mourning the loss of her father

On January 30, 2020, the day before Hudgens was scheduled to make her debut as Rizzo in Grease: Fox Live! musical feature, her father, Greg Hudgens, died at the age of 65 after a battle with stage four cancer. In true "show must go on" fashion, Hudgens tweeted that she will be going ahead with a performance in honor of her father.

While Hudgens showed great strength by delivering a powerful performance the day after her father's death, that doesn't mean she still didn't need her grieving period. The actress opened up to Teen Vogue in May 2017 about how she strives to keep her father's memory alive every day.

“I talk to him all the time,” she revealed. “I just kept doing what I love. He was such a proponent of letting me continue to follow my dreams without him taking me to L.A. to audition all the time... without him, I obviously wouldn't be here in a lot of ways."

It's clear that Hudgens thinks about her father often and taking some time away from the spotlight may have been just what she needed to mourn his death in her own way.
