"Children's Doctor of the World." The priceless exploits of Leonid Roshal

This famous person has long been recognized in our country as a luminary of domestic medicine. “Russian of the Year”, “European of the Year” - Dr. Roshal was awarded such titles many times. His name is known all over the world. They will call him from any corner of the globe, ask for help, and he will respond immediately. The doctor himself most often offers his help to children. In any critical situation, he always abandoned important tasks and went to difficult points.

Everyone remembers the terrible earthquake in 1988 in Spitak (Armenia). Leonid Mikhailovich was at a scientific conference at that time. He immediately announced that he would immediately go to the scene of the tragedy and asked which of his colleagues would support him. Almost everyone agreed immediately. A whole team was formed, which is still operating and providing medical assistance to children throughout Russia.

Leonid Roshal: biography (childhood, youth)

Leonid Roshal is a native of the small town of Livny, located in the Oryol region. Born in 1933 on April 27. His father was a military man, commanded an aviation division. For this reason, the family often moved from one city to another. Mother graduated from the workers' faculty.

Leonid Roshal, whose nationality interests many, says about himself this way: “I am Russian with Jewish roots and a surname.” The boy’s parents predicted a military career, but already at school he wrote in his essays that he would “operate on appendicitis.”

Before the war, the family lived in a small apartment in the capital; in 1941 they moved to Kubinka, near Moscow, and later left for Tatarstan. After the war, the family changed their place of residence several times. Leonid Mikhailovich attended Roshal School in Chkalovsk, near Moscow. He immediately entered the Pirogov Moscow State Medical Institute to study, his choice being the Faculty of Pediatrics.

As a student, during the years of study he showed his best side. Zeal for learning, a bright mind, golden hands, love for their work - these are the characteristics of the teachers who taught Leonid. Even then it became clear that he had chosen the right path in life.

Leonid Roshal

The name of this doctor is on a par with the word “life”. Leonid Roshal is known throughout the world. His hands are called golden, and his heart is kind. This doctor from God is worthy of many titles. Humanity is grateful to him.

Doctor's childhood

Leonid Roshal in childhood with his father

Leonid was born in the town of Livny in the Oryol region in the family of a military pilot. Aviation divisions often changed their location, so the family had frequent moves to garrisons. The mother was a simple worker and really wanted her son to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a military man. The boy had another dream - he wanted to become a doctor-surgeon. Before the start of the war, the family lived in Moscow; as soon as the Great Patriotic War began, they were forced to move to the nearest Moscow region, and then were evacuated to Tatarstan.

Leonid Roshal in his student years

The biography of relocations after the war expanded. Leonid Mikhailovich received his diploma of secondary education in Chkalovsk. In the same city, his further studies take place at the Pirogov Institute at the Faculty of Pediatrics. He is one of the best students at the medical school. All teachers even then gave the highest assessment to their student.

Job

Leonid’s medical biography was successful, since the choice was made correctly. After receiving his diploma, Roshal worked as an ordinary local pediatrician and was engaged in science. He became a young candidate of medical sciences. He turned 31, received an academic degree and became a Doctor of Science. He was appointed to the position of chief pediatric pulmonologist in the Moscow region. I practiced surgery for almost 20 years. In the eighties, he was assigned to head a department in his specialty at the Pediatrics Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

Leonid Roshal at work

When the International Committee for Assistance to Victims of Wars and Disasters was created, Leonid Roshal was proposed as its leader. A lot of worries fell on the shoulders of the famous doctor: he runs the International Children's Fund, and his department includes all pediatric surgery and traumatology in the capital. Leonid Mikhailovich was deservedly awarded the Nobel Prize. For everything that the famous doctor learned, he is grateful to S.D. Ternovsky, the doctor who created the Filatov Children's Hospital.

Dr. Roshal's selfless help

A team of experienced doctors, together with Dr. Roshal, is ready at any time to help those who have been in the hands of terrorists, who have survived disasters and military conflicts. The children's doctor of the world has visited many hot spots. There are no barriers in front of Leonid Roshal's brigade: Ust-Kamenogorsk, Yugoslavia, Japan, Sakhalin or India. Everywhere they need qualified first-class medical care. There are children in every country and city. Even terrorists trust Doctor Roshal. During a hostage situation, hostages require both medical and psychological services.

Situations can be the most extraordinary, you need to be prepared for anything. Sometimes you even have to provide first aid even to criminals. The doctor took the Hippocratic oath, it is not his right to figure out who is right and who is wrong. It is not his fault that a child born from an ordinary woman - a mother - took the path of crime.

He is a doctor who cares about saving human life. And wherever the doctor is, he courageously fights for the life of every patient. It is for these professional courageous deeds that he was awarded the National Hero Award, the Order of Merit for the Fatherland and the Order of Courage. The President of the country V.V. Putin many times expressed gratitude to Leonid Mikhailovich for his scientific contribution to healthcare and courage.

Leonid Roshal - biography of personal life

In my personal life, everything did not go smoothly the first time. There were two marriages in his biography. The first time, the union seemed unsuccessful to both spouses, as they could not understand each other for a long time. On this basis they divorced, but remained friends. Roshal married for the second time and now feels like a happy family man. Two people close to him, his wife and son, support him in everything and are proud of his famous husband and father.

The wife is engaged in scientific activities. The son is an entrepreneur, and the granddaughter wants to become a psychologist. Roshal is a very attentive and caring father and grandfather. But, unfortunately, there is always little time for my own son and granddaughter. The doctor always wanted to have many children, which is why he makes up for it at work by interacting with other children.

Alone with everyone - Leonid Roshal 2015

Leonid Roshal is very worried about the younger generation, about their spiritual world. Therefore, he actively opposes the fact that some films contain a huge amount of footage that depicts violence, cruelty, and abound in blood. It is very important for a surgeon that people learn not to give up on others like themselves without help. They must learn the necessary actions that can keep a person alive until professional emergency doctors arrive. And you can ask the doctor himself for help from any city, the most distant village or aul - he will definitely rush to the sick child. He is not used to leaving those he can help in trouble.

Medical activities

After graduating from high school in 1957, Dr. Roshal began his medical career as a children's district police officer. At the same time, he did not stop engaging in scientific activities. Already at the age of 31, Leonid Roshal defended his Ph.D. I received my academic degree very quickly. In 1970, Roshal became a Doctor of Science. In the same year, he was appointed chief freelance pediatric pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health in the Moscow region.

For twenty years - from 1961 to 1981 - Leonid Mikhailovich worked in the pediatric surgery of the Vladimirsky MONIKI. In the 80s, he was appointed head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery and Trauma at the Research Institute of Pediatrics of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. In 1982, Roshal became a professor.

In 1990, the International Committee to Help Children Who Suffered from Wars and Disasters was created, headed by Leonid Roshal. In addition, the doctor is the head of the International Children's Charitable Foundation. Since 2003, Leonid Mikhailovich has been the permanent director of the capital’s Research Institute of Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology. In 2007 he was deservedly nominated for the Nobel Prize.

Personal life of Leonid Mikhailovich Roshal

Leonid Mikhailovich was married twice. Unfortunately, she has no children from her first marriage. And from his second marriage he has a son, and already a granddaughter. The wife is engaged in scientific activities and, together with her husband, writes books about medicine. The honored doctor hides his personal life from the eyes of strangers; he makes his actions and deeds visible.

Leonid Mikhailovich Roshal - professor, honored doctor of our time, chief children's doctor of Russia.

Leonid Roshal - children's doctor of the world

As mentioned above, the team created by Dr. Roshal travels around the globe. Comes to the aid of everyone who has suffered from terrorism, man-made disasters, and military conflicts. Dr. Roshal and his team saved people near Ufa during a train accident, in Ust-Kamenogorsk after an explosion at an industrial enterprise. Members of the brigade repeatedly traveled to military hot spots, namely Romania, Georgia, Yugoslavia, Abkhazia, Chechnya, and Azerbaijan. Terrorist attack on Dubrovka

Everyone remembers the terrible events at Dubrovka. During the terrorist attack, only Dr. Roshal was allowed by the terrorists to enter and exit the captured building. Dr. Roshal made every effort to help the victims. He brought one of the child hostages out of fainting, prevented another from developing an epileptic attack, and saved the third from suffocation due to asthma.

In one of the building's toilets, the doctor set up something like an operating room. There he helped all those who received any shrapnel or bullet wounds. He even helped criminals. When performing professional duties, the lines between patients are blurred. In the Nord-Ost hall, the doctor provided medical care to everyone, and outside the building he supported the relatives and friends of the victims. For the courage shown during the terrorist attack, Dr. Roshal was awarded a high award - the National Hero Award.

Events on Dubrovka

During the terrorist attack, Leonid Mikhailovich was one of the few whom the criminals allowed in and out of the besieged building. The doctor made every effort to help the victims. He managed to bring a child out of fainting, saved another boy from asthmatic suffocation and prevented the development of an epileptic attack, to which the third child hostage was susceptible.

Little of! Dr. Roshal set up something like an operating room in one of the Nord-Ost toilets... Here he helped people with bullet and shrapnel wounds. The doctor also provided medical assistance to the injured criminals. When it comes to fulfilling professional duties, the lines between “our” and other people’s patients are blurred. He made attempts to relieve the pain of all the victims in the hall, and outside “Nord-Ost” he provided moral support to their families and friends.

For the dedication and courage shown during the terrorist attack on Dubrovka, Leonid Mikhailovich was awarded the National Hero Award.

Leonid Mikhailovich is married for the second time, his wife is engaged in scientific activities. He and his first wife were divorced after they lost mutual understanding. But they still have friendly relations. Roshal's son chose the field of entrepreneurship; he did not follow in the footsteps of his famous father. The doctor's granddaughter plans to become a psychologist. In life, Leonid Mikhailovich only regrets that he has only one child.

Doctor Roshal. Clinic

Today, the Leonid Roshal Clinic (Moscow, Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology) is ready to provide highly qualified care to all young patients in need completely free of charge. Parents of children are immensely grateful to all the staff for their hard work.

Children often come to the clinic with severe injuries, which they receive in road accidents, falls from heights, fights, extreme sports and other situations. Recently, many injured children from Donbass have been admitted here.

The most severe injuries are cranial, spinal, and open injuries of soft tissue, large joints, and bones. All this can be complicated by purulent infections. Such children need long-term multi-stage treatment, high-tech rehabilitation, and various technical means.

Highly qualified specialists who work in the clinic are proficient in all modern therapeutic and diagnostic methods. They are ready to provide emergency assistance around the clock. The entire staff is proud to work under Dr. Roshal.

Proceedings

During his scientific career, Leonid Mikhailovich created many monographs on pediatric surgery, diagnosis of emergency conditions, and he also created a manual for nurses in children's surgical departments. Leonid Roshal, whose books have become textbooks for many who are involved in scientific medicine and practice, also wrote a manual for parents.

His useful book - a textbook of life - is called “Your Child. How to save it." It describes all the most dangerous situations that can happen to a child anywhere: in the garden, at school, on the street, on vacation, at home. What should parents do in this or that case, how not to panic and how to properly help the injured child? Structured material and visual illustrations make the book interesting even for children.

Dr. Roshal and his staff know about all the accidents that are possible at any age. In clear language, the book describes what to do if a child is injured, poisoned, or burned. This “life textbook” should become a reference book in every family. All parents simply must be able to provide emergency assistance to their children, thereby protecting them from danger and even saving lives.

Film about Roshal

Leonid Roshal, whose biography is very rich in valiant deeds, became the hero of Olga Drozdova’s film “I’m not afraid of anything” (documentary genre). Roshal is called the children's doctor of the world. Wherever trouble happens, Leonid Mikhailovich rushes there with his team and performs incredibly complex operations even in unsuitable conditions. The film presents exclusive footage that was filmed in Kaspiysk, where the doctor was immediately after the terrorist attack on May 9.

Doctor Roshal himself believes that God protects him in emergency situations and hot spots. An amazing story is about how an ambulance exploded in Yugoslavia, and it was the doctor who was following it. Or the case when in Nagorno-Karabakh, while examining a child, a shell hit a house, and the doctor survived that time too. More than once I had to save people in the most difficult situations, and Roshal always comes to the rescue on time - in this he sees the meaning of his life.
