Nathan Fillion
(English:
Nathan Fillion
, born March 27, 1971[1][2], Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) is an American actor of Canadian origin, known for his roles in the TV series Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Castle. .
Career
1994–2005
After working in theater and appearing in several Canadian television and film films, Fillion moved to New York in 1994, where he starred in the soap opera One Life to Live as Joey Buchanan, for which he was nominated in 1996 for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Younger Actor category. In 1997, Fillion left the series to pursue other projects (though he returned for a few episodes in 2007). After moving to Los Angeles, he starred in a supporting role in the sitcom Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. And also, after the invitation of Steven Spielberg, he starred in a cameo role in the film “Saving Private Ryan”.
In 2002, Fillion starred as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Joss Whedon's fantasy television series Firefly. For this role he received an award in the category “Face of the Future Generation” (Eng. Cinescape Genre Face of the Future - Male
) from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films[5]. According to Fillion, his time on the set of Firefly was the most fun of all the television series. After filming Firefly ended, actress Jewel Staite nicknamed him Captain Tight Pants. This nickname remained with him. Although the television series was canceled in 2003, a sequel, Serenity, was released in 2005, with Fillion reprising his role.
In the final season of Whedon's other television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fillion played the supporting character Caleb. Fillion voiced a minor character in the animated series King of the Hill (2001), as well as the character Gao Junior in the game Jade Empire.
2006–present
In 2006, Fillion starred in the lead role in James Gunn's horror film Slug. For his role as Sheriff Bill Purdy, he was nominated for a Fangoria magazine award in the "A Dude You Don't Mess With" category.[8] In the same year he played a cameo role in the acclaimed TV series “Lost” in the episode “ I agree”
. In 2007, Fillion played the lead role in the horror film White Noise 2: The Shining. The same year, the romantic comedy Waitress was released, starring Keri Russell and Nathan.[9][10] In 2007, Nathan appeared in the fourth season of the popular dramedy Desperate Housewives. He also plays one of the main roles in the television series “Race”, which was closed after 6 episodes. Among TV fans, after this failure, Nathan gained the role of “series killer,” since the series in which he played the main roles were closed with strange frequency[11][12][13].
Later, he received the main role in the TV series Castle, which tells the story of the famous writer Rick Castle, who, thanks to his unconventional thinking and writing talent, helps the New York police solve crimes[14]. He will play Nathan Drake in the film adaptation of the Uncharted game.
Nathan Fillion's childhood and family
Nathan was born into a teacher's family.
He was the second son. The boy planned to become a teacher, continuing the work of his parents. After high school, Nathan studied at college, and then at the University of Alberta. He was only a semester away from graduating from University, but he stopped studying and began acting in a soap opera. The fact is that Nathan went to audition for “You Only Live Once,” and it so happened that he was chosen. Deciding to change everything radically in life, he went to film. To do this, he had to move to New York.
