Why Prince William put off his wedding to Kate Middleton for years
Prince William and Kate Middleton recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary, which took place on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey. In honor of this grandiose event, the Duke of Cambridge prepared a special surprise for his charming wife.
It's hard to believe that a loving husband and caring father of three wonderful children once postponed his wedding to the beautiful Catherine. It turned out that the prince was in no hurry to walk his beloved down the aisle for fear of repeating the fate of his parents.

William and Kate's love story dates back to their days at the University of St. Andrews. First of all, they were connected by a strong friendship, which over time grew into something more. Since then there has been no end to the paparazzi. The whole of Great Britain was buzzing about the newly-made couple and was eagerly awaiting the announcement of the imminent wedding.

But Prince William was in no hurry. The British media even dubbed Katherine with the nickname Waity Katie (“Waiting Katie”). Many British were confident that the chosen one of the heir to the throne would never receive the cherished marriage proposal.

In spite of all the evil tongues, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth still proposed to “the waiting Katie,” putting all the jokers in their place. However, he went to this decision for 7 long years.

Royal fans speculated that the Duke of Cambridge was unsure of his feelings for Catherine. But that's not true. He admired his beloved and saw her as his bride. The only thing that held the prince back was the unsuccessful family experience of his parents. He didn't want to make their mistakes, so he was determined not to marry under the influence of his family.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl , the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana knew that his mother went down the aisle under pressure from others. Thus, the Prince of Wales was convinced that Diana Spencer was an ideal candidate for the role of his wife.

Katie claims that the Duke of Cambridge intended to marry only after 30: “William felt as if he was being forced to take Kate to the altar just like his father had once done. So he vowed not to give in to pressure and not rush into marriage.”
