Vera Shpak: “Bezrukov calls and says: “Well, will you come and play Bagheera for me?”

Childhood and youth

Vera Shpak was born in the capital of Belarus in February 1989. Among her relatives there was no one who was connected with the world of theater and cinema. My father worked as a teacher at the Radio Engineering University of Minsk, my mother worked as a doctor.

Actress Vera Shpak in 2020
Perhaps the only thing that connected the girl with the world of cinema was her last name. From a young age, Vera heard a humorous question addressed to her: who is the famous hero from the comedy “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession”? In addition, her mother had a corresponding specialty - a dentist, like Anton Semenovich Shpak.

Vera, like many young girls, had a dream in elementary school to see herself on the screen. But as she grew older, she began to seem frivolous and unattainable. In high school, Shpak decided that she would be a translator.

In 2006, after graduating from school, the girl took her documents to a local linguistic university, where she entered without difficulty. She studied English at Minsk University for a year and a half, but then transferred to the St. Petersburg Institute of Foreign Languages.

It took another year and a half at the language department for Shpak to finally understand: this is not her path. The special atmosphere of St. Petersburg helped the girl remember her childhood dream of becoming an actress. She plucked up her resolve and dropped out of linguistics university.

Luckily, a friend was nearby who had completed a directing course at the St. Petersburg Theater Academy. She prepared Vera for entering the theater institute. Soon the future artist set off to conquer the capital. She entered the Moscow Art Theater School the first time and studied there, taking a course with Konstantin Raikin. In 2013, Vera Shpak received her diploma.

Vera Shpak: don’t let evil inside you

Due to her busy schedule and frequent travel, theater and film actress Vera Shpak is not always able to fully take care of her health. But whenever possible, she enjoys visiting the gym and swimming pool. He loves morning jogging, diving, and is planning to go horseback riding. And, according to Vera, to maintain health, every person needs to find peace of mind. Kindness, optimism, good mood prolong life.

-Vera, people in your profession are often exposed to nervous overload and stress. What helps you fight negativity?

-At the institute, one of our masters (Viktor Ryzhakov) often told us the phrase: “Don’t let evil into yourself.” So these are the words I often repeat to myself... You just can’t let bad emotions grow inside you.

My optimism probably helps me fight. It is always easier for me to believe in something good, to find my advantages in difficulties. The main thing is not to focus on the negative, move on. Running often helps to distract yourself: put headphones in your ears and “run out” your worries.

And, of course, close people who may not even always know the details... They are simply nearby and with their love they instill confidence in you!

- Yes, and you probably can’t do without good health?

-Yes, sure. Health is very important. And every year you understand this more and more. In fact, any things can be achieved/purchased/earned, but this is not the case with health - it can only be preserved and maintained! Of course, I try to monitor my diet, my schedule... But, unfortunately, it often turns out that I don’t sleep enough, eat poorly, don’t drink enough water, for example... I struggle with all of this! I go to the gym, I like to run (I’m really looking forward to the warmth so I can run out to the park), I go to the pool, I try not to get carried away with the wrong foods...

True, I think that it is impossible to always keep yourself within strict limits; sometimes you need to give yourself the opportunity to break the rules a little. The main thing is not to overdo it (smiles). The question is to prevent our little weaknesses from developing into addictions.

I have never been involved in sports professionally. Diving, but it's more of an entertainment... For the soul. But what I really dream of doing is horse riding. I once went to the stables and can sit in the saddle, but I would like to take it more seriously. Firstly, horses are something unreal... They give so many positive emotions. And secondly, it seems to me that this is a very good and correct load for the body, plus fresh air and a lot of positive things.

-Aren’t you afraid to go to doctors? Unfortunately, many people turn to them only in extreme cases and do not like preventive examinations.

-My mother is a doctor! Therefore, of course, I never experienced fear of doctors. Nobody likes to go to them, but I think it is very important to take care of your health, go to the prof. examinations, do not delay the visit if something is bothering you. It is always easier to prevent a disease than to treat it.

-Vera, you always look great, both in life and in the movies. Do you have any beauty secrets?

-Thank you. In fact, I’m not doing anything special to take care of my appearance yet... Although, maybe it’s time to think about it. Just a moisturizer in the morning and evening... I try not to eat nasty things, drink more water, don’t forget about vitamins... Get enough sleep. Probably, up to a certain age, this is enough.

-What is your favorite type of vacation?

-Due to a busy schedule and frequent travel, the most wonderful vacation is time spent with your loved one. Whether it’s a day at home, a trip to nature, a trip to the cinema... It doesn’t matter. It's good to stop a little and take a break from everything. Honestly, I really like to be a little lazy (smiles).

-Thank you very much for the interesting conversation! What do you wish for our readers?

-I want to wish you health! This is one of the most precious treasures we have. Health to you and your loved ones! Take care of yourself, your family, don’t waste your time and attention. After all, peace of mind is very important. I wish you not to be nervous again (many pains are due to nerves!), smile! A good mood prolongs life - I’m sure of that!

Theater

Vera’s desire to stay in Moscow and join the troupe of Konstantin Raikin’s Satyricon Theater remained only a wish. The aspiring actress returned to St. Petersburg and came to the head of the Alexandrinsky Theater Valery Fokin. After meeting, Valery Vladimirovich immediately accepted the Belarusian artist into his theater. The creative biography of Vera Shpak began on this stage.

Vera Shpak in the theater
From 2013 to 2014, she played in several performances, but then decided to return to the capital. Sergei Bezrukov accepted her into his troupe. From 2014 to the present day, Shpak has been an artist at the Moscow Provincial Theater. Sergei Vitalievich, unlike directors of other capital theaters, views the filming of his actors in films quite favorably. Moreover, he even recommends artists to directors he knows. Therefore, Vera’s creative baggage, despite the late start to work on the set, includes roles in various full-length films and TV series.

Movies

The actress made her screen debut in 2011 in episodic roles. The first full-length film in which she appeared was the film “Team 8.” This is a war drama by Alexander Aravin, in which Vera played the heroine Lyalya. Then there was the musical melodrama “Courage” by Alexander Stefanovich, based on his novel. The film tells about the period of Stefanovich's life when he was married to Alla Pugacheva. Shpak got the image of a heroine named Lilya.

Vera Shpak (still from the series “Teachers”)

The actress also has serial roles in her repertoire. Vera starred in the melodramas “Teachers”, “Alien Nest” and others. The actress often appears on screens in the role of fragile but strong women. This is facilitated by the actress’s open face and graceful parameters (with a height of 173 cm, her weight is 50 kg, according to Internet sources).

In 2020, Mikhail Khleborodov’s 8-episode film “Temporarily Unavailable” was released on Russian screens, the script for which was written by Andrei Kivinov, known for the film “High Security Vacation.” This is a modern comedy, the plot somewhat reminiscent of Nikolai Gogol’s “The Inspector General,” about Moscow official Vyacheslav Zolotov, who switched places with the investigator of the investigative department Anton Pletnev.

Sergei Bezrukov and Vera Shpak (still from the series “Temporarily Unavailable”)

The characters are played by Sergei Bezrukov and Dmitry Dyuzhev. Vera appeared in the comedy in the role of journalist Nastya Zhuravleva. The film is replete with comedic scenes, and Shpak herself showed off her figure in all its glory for the first time, starring in a swimsuit.

Then the actress appeared in the leading role of teacher Ksenia in the action-packed drama “I Will Repay.” The film covers the topical issue of impunity for businessmen and high-ranking officials. A teacher whose wife was killed by the mayor's son begins to fight for justice.

Vera Shpak (still from the series “Uncut Pages”)

In October of this year, the actress played the role of the suspect’s bride in the melodramatic detective story “Uncut Pages,” a film adaptation of Tatyana Ustinova’s novel of the same name.

In December 2015, the actress played the main role of private investigator Eva Sokolovskaya in the crime melodrama “The Spaniard.” The mini-series tells the story of a former orphanage Sasha, who was adopted by a Spanish family. A young man who grew up abroad returns to Russia to find his childhood friend. To do this, Alejandro hires a private investigator.

Vera Shpak (still from the series “Plague”)

In the same year, Vera appeared in another season premiere - the series “Plague”. This is a picture about the generation of the 90s, about the break of eras, when millions of people lost their life guidelines, when the law of money dictated the actions of many citizens who had gone astray, including girls who prefer the only “dignity” in men – cash. Shpak played the heroine Katya, the daughter of an influential official.

At the beginning of 2020, Vera played the main role of Nastya Lushnikova in the melodrama “The Queen’s Last Move.” Nastya is a lonely, unlucky designer. The girl’s only dream is to adopt an orphanage named Danya, who has become attached to her and whom the family of a local TV presenter is trying to take away.

Vera Shpak (still from the series “Black Cat”)

In September 2016, the actress presented the main character on the screen in the 4-episode melodrama “On a White Horse.” The mini-series tells about the everyday life of the mounted police in Moscow today. Vera reincarnated as senior lieutenant of the mounted police detachment Vika.

In November 2020, Vera appears on television in the role of a synchronized swimmer, the main character in the sports melodrama “Synchronized Swimmers,” which tells the story of a disintegrating duet of female athletes. Olya and Yana have been performing and training together since childhood. Over the years, it turns out that friends have different priorities in life. Yana wants to get married and take a break in her career, and Olya, played by Shpak, strives for world competitions. The same year, the actress played a minor role in the crime drama Black Cat.

Film career

Vera first appeared on screen in 2011 in the TV series “Team 8.” This was followed by episodic roles in the films “Courage”, “A Matter of Honor”, “Alien Nest”, “Teachers” and many others.

Vera Shpak and Sergei Bezrukov in the film “Temporarily Unavailable”

Vera herself considers the role of journalist Nastya Zhuravleva in the film “Temporarily Unavailable” to be one of the most significant and successful. Working with such film masters as Mikhail Khleborodov, Andrei Kivinov, Sergei Bezrukov, Dmitry Dyuzhev became a real test for the aspiring actress. She received serious support from her sister Nadezhda, who worked as an assistant to the actors in this film.

Vera Shpak and Ivan Oganesyan in the series “The Queen’s Last Move”

In 2020, the girl played the main role in the series “The Queen’s Last Move” - a young designer Nastya, who is fighting for the right to adopt an orphanage boy with a more successful family and trying to solve the mystery of a strange telephone joker. Her partner on the set was Ivan Oganesyan.

Still from the series “Black Cat”

In 2020, the ambitious actress could be seen in the acclaimed series “Black Cat” with Gela Meskhi and Igor Petrenko, in the 4-episode melodrama “On a White Horse,” as well as in the sports television drama “Synchronized Swimmers.”

Personal life

The artist has an extremely busy work schedule. Nevertheless, Shpak’s personal life manages to develop upward. Vera admitted that she has a boyfriend. It is known that the girl’s chosen one works in the theater as a lighting designer and is well acquainted with his behind-the-scenes life. He has not yet become the actress’s husband, but the couple is already thinking about family and children.

Her dream is to master horse riding. According to Vera, such a vacation has a beneficial effect on a person’s emotional state and gives beautiful posture.

The actress never gets tired of her work, which is why up to 5 projects are released a year with her participation. This is a big burden on the body, but, according to Vera, she experiences happiness from self-realization in the profession. The main premiere of 2020 with Shpak’s participation was the detective story “Duet by Right,” in which the girl played the role of the capital’s Major Tatyana Titova, assigned to the investigative department of a provincial town. Now the actress has completed the process of dubbing the melodramatic television film “Million Dollar Tree”, in which she played a minor character.

According to her, there was a friendly atmosphere on the stage, so it was sad to leave, especially with colleagues from the staff - Elena Velikanova, Anton Batyrev, Konstantin Oktyabrsky. The performer also took part in the work on the films “Like Everyone Else,” “The Wizard” and “I’m Alive.”
