Childhood and adolescence
Alena was born in Samara, where her parents studied at the aviation institute. After graduating from university, her father, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (yes, yes, don’t be surprised, he is the namesake of the famous writer), was offered a job at a large aircraft manufacturing corporation, and the whole family moved to Ulyanovsk. Alena spent her childhood there, and in the summer she visited her grandparents in the Orenburg region.
Alena Chekhova as a child with her family
Her parents spoiled their blue-eyed princess and did not deny her anything. But my grandmother was more severe and adhered to strict measures in her upbringing. Nevertheless, Alena loved visiting the old people in the village, and now, despite the constant lack of time, she also tries to visit them as often as possible.
Alena grew up as an active and inquisitive girl, with a wide variety of interests. She danced at the children's choreographic studio "Rodnichok", was interested in music and painting, studied foreign languages, read a lot and did well at school.
Alena Chekhova in childhood
In addition, Alena has a third category in sambo, she knows how to fly a yacht and an airplane. It is not surprising that a girl with such a temperament and an insatiable craving for everything new felt cramped in provincial Ulyanovsk. While still in high school, she decided that after school she would go to Moscow, enter Moscow State University and enjoy student life, like the characters of her favorite TV series “Helen and the Boys.”
The dream came true: Alena became a student at the Faculty of Law of the country's main university and plunged headlong into the whirlpool of metropolitan life. Having successfully completed her studies at the Department of Civil Law, she became the youngest certified lawyer in the country, but she did not work in her specialty for long.
The girl quickly got bored with the painstaking work with papers, but during public appearances in court she felt like a fish in water. Therefore, Alena decided to change her type of activity and master the acting profession.

The purposeful girl graduated from the Shchukin School, and then went to the USA to gain new knowledge - she studied at the New York Film Academy in the four-week Acting for Film Workshop program.
Actor career
Having first come to America as part of a group of Russian actors, Alena met there the famous Hollywood acting teacher Ivana Chubbuck. Subsequently, she introduced the girl to the local acting scene and became a real guiding star for Chekhova in Hollywood.
Alena Chekhova in the TV series “Deffchenki”
Until this time, the young actress had already had more than a dozen successful works in Russian cinema, the most notable of which were roles in the TV series “Girls,” the sports comedy “Only Girls in Sports,” and the melodramatic fantasy “He’s a Dragon.”
In 2020, on the set of the comedy “Bachelor Party,” Alena first met Dolph Lundgren, who six months later became her partner in the film “Dead Trigger,” based on the popular computer game.
Actress Alena Chekhova: Excessive beauty is a problem
Alena Chekhova was born in Samara.
The viewer knows the actress from her roles in such films and TV series as “The Diary of Doctor Zaitseva”, “Girls”, “Only Girls in Sports”, “He’s a Dragon”, “A Secret to the Whole World”, “Treasure Hunter: The Legend of the White Witch” ", "Misfire", "Hardcore", etc. - In the comedy "Only Girls in Sports" you played the role of the captain of a women's snowboarding team. Did you have to learn to snowboard, or have you already ridden before?
- I tried it before. Actually, I'm a skier. For me, the best vacation is a trip to the mountains. Snowboarding didn’t work out at first; I fell a lot and it hurt. But before filming “Only Girls in Sports,” she began to seriously learn to skate. I trained on Vorobyovy Gory with an instructor. I took ten classes from her. I really like roles where you have to learn some new skills. But the funny thing is that my skating is not directly in the film. There were professional doubles who did all the snowboarding tricks for us. I actually had a backup boy, very thin, like me. You put on a huge helmet and you can’t understand who’s in the frame.
— Was the comedy funnier than Some Like It Hot?
- You can't compare. With Marilyn Monroe - a classic film. I believe that modern cinema and classical cinema are two different planets. Now they are filming on stream. Everything happens very quickly. As an actress, I don't like this. If I lived in the 60s of the last century, this would have been my finest hour. I really like to prepare in detail for a role; it is very important for me not to be rushed. And now I don’t even have the opportunity to rehearse properly. Everything - faster, faster! And sometimes you produce a result that is not the one you could have produced if you had had enough time. Previously, in the Soviet Union, films were shot for six months. And now the filming process is 20-25 shifts. And that’s why most of today’s Russian cinema is a one-time movie.

Or
— Alena, Chekhova is your real name?
- Yes, real.
— Are you not related to Anton Pavlovich?
- Seventh water on jelly. We watched. My grandfather’s great-grandfather was from the same village as Anton Pavlovich’s grandfather. Theoretically, we could be some kind of distant relatives.
- And with Anfisa Chekhova?
- That's not her real name.
— You studied and worked in the States. How did you get into the American film “Misfire”?
— I’ll start from the beginning. The first time I came to America was in 2013 for a course with Ivana Chubbuck, a famous acting coach. We had a Russian group. I really liked everything. And I really wanted to work in the States. A casting took place in December 2013, and I only became aware of its results last year. It turns out that I was one of two contenders for the role in the recent Marvel “Avengers”, which was ultimately played by Scarlett Johansson. She played a Russian. But the Americans did not approve me for this role because the events began in Ukraine. Now I would have a completely different career!..
I came to the USA again in 2020. It happened after filming the film “Only Girls in Sports.” Our producers wanted to sell it to America. This did not happen. But it gave me contacts of people who watched the film with my participation. I came to the States and started calling everyone. One of my calls led me to my current manager. She watched my film and became interested in me. We auditioned for the film “Treasure Hunter: Legend of the White Witch.” I was approved, after which I received a work visa. I have one of the main roles in the film. Producer Michael Tadross, who later directed Misfire, was on the set. Everyone was happy with my work, and I was accepted into the next project.
— Did you meet Dolph Lundgren, who played one of the roles, on that set?
— The film “Misfire” is based on the computer game “Dead Trigger,” where participants deal with zombies. In this film I am a computer hero who also kills these vile creatures. There's a scene where Dolph Lundgren kills me. But in fact, we met Dolph even earlier, on the set of “The Hangover.” Filming took place in Egypt. And for some reason our producers forbade us to communicate with the famous Hollywood actor. He was sitting somewhere on the side with his guards. It’s funny that after, already on the set of an American film, we calmly had breakfast, lunch and dinner with Dolph Lundgren, and talked a lot. He could go into our trailer, we could go into his. In general, we became friends.
— Why did you leave the USA and not continue your brilliant Hollywood career?
— My work visa has expired.
- How is your language? Can you feel the Russian accent?
— I have a European accent, at American castings they consider me as Swedish, Danish, German. I worked on my accent for a long time, but I never got rid of it.
— You had a blast in Egypt on the set of “Bachelor Party.” Have you ever been to someone's bachelorette party in real life?
— I was at my friend’s bachelorette party in St. Petersburg. It was all very fun. My friend does jiu-jitsa wrestling. She hired coaches for us, we fought with the guys. It was a master class in jiu-jitsu. In America, this is the rule: bachelor parties, bachelorette parties. We haven't developed all this yet.
— Does beauty interfere with the acting profession, or does it help?
— It’s funny that now in America there is such a trend: the main characters are played mainly by actresses of simple appearance. In order for the viewer to associate himself with the heroine on the screen, she should be as simple as possible. Therefore, excessive beauty for promotion in Hollywood is currently a problem.
— Which Hollywood actresses do you like the most?
— Beauty in an actress is not the main thing for me. I appreciate talent and acting. I love Meryl Streep. She is far from beautiful, but I like her as a professional.
— In Russia, have you encountered “discrimination” based on beauty?
- This is different. Here, if someone likes you very much and doesn’t reciprocate, they start putting spokes in your wheels.
— I thought that “jumping over the bed” had long since disappeared from Russian practice!
— This is not a mass trend, but it also happens. This happened to me too. A certain producer made me similar offers, which I consider absolutely unacceptable for myself. I refused him, and after that I had some problems in my career.
— In the film “He is a Dragon” you played the dragon’s bride...
— There we had to use our imagination, because many scenes were shot on chromakey, against a green background, where the actor plays with imaginary partners and circumstances. But I have a well-developed imagination. Shooting with chromakey doesn’t pose much of a challenge for me, because I can visualize everything perfectly.
