Andrey Gubin, Shura and other Russian stars of the 90s with a difficult fate

When we look at celebrities, we usually think that these people are definitely doing well. What exactly could be wrong with them? They are rich and famous, attending various social events and concerts. Not life, but raspberries. But stars are people just like you and me, with the same problems and unexpected twists of fate. Some suffer from serious illnesses, others worry about a broken heart, and others struggle with alcoholism and drug addiction. Today we want to tell you about Russian stars of the 90s with a difficult fate.

Marina Khlebnikova, 52 years old

Two divorces and an illness

The superstar of the 90s carefully hid the troubles in her personal life - Marina tried to maintain the image of a carefree artist, and, by her own admission, she didn’t want to complain to the whole country. But, as it turns out, there were many reasons for complaints. The singer’s first husband, guitarist Anton Loginov, was a fictitious spouse: producer Bari Alibasov arranged a wedding for his ward in order to keep her in the Integral team - Marina found out about this when she was already married. The artist tried not to remember this and certainly not to discuss the marriage with journalists. However, the second marriage also turned out to be unhappy, despite the fact that this time the marriage was concluded out of mutual feelings. Khlebnikova married Mikhail Maydanich, the general director of the record company, with whom she gave birth to a daughter, Dominica, in 1999. True, soon after the girl was born, Maydanich left his family. The separation, as the singer herself said, was accompanied by quarrels and beatings, after which the artist even ended up in the hospital.

Troubles in her personal life were accompanied by health problems, which eventually forced Khlebnikova to leave the stage. A dental cyst that grew over many years without treatment caused chronic sinusitis, which made it more and more difficult to sing... Now the artist is raising her daughter.

Childhood and adolescence

Andrey was born in the capital of Bashkiria, Ufa, but spent most of his childhood in Moscow. He practically does not remember his own father, Valery Klementyev: his mother divorced him when Andrei and his younger sister Nastya were very young. In 1983, Svetlana Vasilievna became the wife of Viktor Gubin, a researcher at one of the Ufa oil and gas research institutes. Soon the new family moved to Moscow.

Andrey Gubin in childhood and youth

The stepfather adopted the children of his beloved woman and tried his best to ensure that they did not lack anything. He bought Andrey his first guitar, encouraged him to play chess and football, and welcomed his passion for poetry.

Due to the lack of Moscow registration, the family was forced to change apartments frequently, so the boy had certain difficulties with his studies. He could not keep up with the school curriculum, and the constant change of the team did not contribute to good academic performance. In addition, Andrei had a lot of complexes due to his short stature and burr, so he preferred football training to communicating with his peers. During one of them, he received a serious leg injury, which put an end to his future sports career.

After a leg injury, Andrei Gubin focused on creativity

Having come to terms with this fact, he focused on creativity and began writing songs, which were later included in his debut non-professional album entitled “I’m a Homeless Man.” At the same time, the famous hit “Tramp Boy” was born, which later made Andrei famous throughout the country.

Andrey Gubin, 43 years old

Neurosis after father's death

Behind the success of the “tramp boy” was the artist’s father, Viktor Gubin, who was involved in both producing Andrei and supporting him in general. Andrei, who was gentle in character, relied on his father for everything, so the artist took the news about Viktor Gubin’s deteriorating health painfully. In 2007, after his father left, Gubin not only stopped performing - he ended up in a neurosis clinic, trying to cope with stress and insomnia.

Now Andrey does not perform and does not release new songs. The musician admits that he is not in the best shape for going out, although he regularly writes songs.

In September, Gubin became embroiled in a scandal with his allegedly illegitimate son. 21-year-old Maxim from Moscow claimed that his mother gave birth to him from his beloved musician, but a DNA test did not confirm the paternity of Andrei Gubin.

Andrey Gubin – journalist

The future favorite of girls showed himself well as a journalist, working in the program “Under 16 and older.” In 1990, Adrei Gubin interviewed musician Andrei Makarevich. After which he decided to leave journalism and devote himself to the world of show business. True, many years later Andrei Gubin admitted that he regretted this decision.

Alexander Aivazov, 44 years old

Alcoholism and rehabilitation

Remember the romantic songs “Where are you?”, “Butterfly Moon” and “Lilies for Lilies”? Off stage, musician Sasha Aivazov did not fall into a romantic addiction: last year, his wife and son left the artist due to drunkenness. However, Aivazov refused to consent to the divorce and went to a drug treatment clinic. Now the family has been reunited, and the artist has vowed not to touch alcohol.

Alcohol also had a detrimental effect on the career of a successful singer. Now Aivazov continues to write songs, but does not release hits.

Shura, 42 years old

Cancer and drug addiction

Who would have thought that the crazy and bright Shura, who the audience associated with an eternal carnival and extravaganza, would leave the stage due to serious and tragic events in his life. The artist battled testicular cancer for seven years, undergoing chemotherapy and long rehabilitation. After treatment, the artist weighed 140 kilograms! But the fight against the disease was not the only test of the artist, who believes that the cause of cancer was his severe drug addiction. Shura became addicted to drugs in the wake of his popularity, when there was no one to tell him how best to spend his first large royalties. Now the artist does not communicate with his “friends” from his stormy youth, prefers solitude and dreams of children - last year the musician admitted that he plans to ask a surrogate mother for help.

"My face hurts"

– Gubin told me that his face constantly hurts, and people who have not experienced this cannot understand his problem. He is, of course, a man with his cockroaches,” TV presenter Leonid Zakoshansky recalls his meetings with Gubin. – Andrey has changed a lot. Nobody understands what's wrong with him. Now he is only concerned with his health. And I spent a lot on doctors - I was observed in many clinics, underwent various examinations. However, according to the singer’s friends, doctors did not find any physical abnormalities in the artist.

Producer of Tender May Andrei Razin believes that Gubin invented his illness.

– Andrey has serious mental problems. He imagines that his face is constantly itching and hurting. We took him to the doctors, they found nothing,” Andrei Razin told KP. – It has become difficult to talk to him, he attacks everyone. Even he reacts hard to me, although he is my friend, I have always supported him. Gubin is not to blame, you can’t blame him, it’s a misfortune. What happened to him is a tragedy. Andrey did not use drugs, did not undergo plastic surgery. This is a mental failure. He was a cheerful, handsome, talented guy, but now he has withdrawn into himself and doesn’t want to see anyone.

Sold out the fleet

“Gubin had a large fortune, but apart from an apartment in the capital (the musician owns an apartment on Olkhovskaya Street), he had nothing left,” says Sergei Lavrov. The singer’s friends confirm that as soon as the artist stopped touring, he immediately sold out his fleet of vehicles - two Mercedes and a Porsche Carrera. Now Gubin lives only on royalties.

– If you look at the playlists, he’s on air every day. Andrey, apparently, has enough of this,” says Gubina’s comrade, musician and producer Taras Vashchinin. “I recently tried to persuade him to record several songs. The studio had already been booked, but at the last moment Andrey suddenly left for Thailand. He promised to return from there with lyrics for new songs.

As KP learned, the singer had already left Thailand and was temporarily staying with friends in a hotel in the Sochi resort of Rosa Khutor. Then the artist plans to move to the Razin Hotel, which was built in the center of Sochi by the leader of the group “Tender May”. “I invited him to stay in my hotel for free,” Andrei Razin admitted to KP. - In the meantime, he lives with friends, rides a bicycle there, and does not communicate with anyone. He doesn’t need a lot of money to be happy - he always stays with friends.”

According to Taras Vashchinin, travel and sports are the only things that bring him joy now.

Marina Volkova, 42 years old

Quarrel with producers and absence of family

17-year-old Barbie burst into show business with the song “You Paint Your Eyelashes.” The producers made big bets on the young and charismatic artist, but she chose to build her personal life: the girl escaped from the tutelage of managers and got married, breaking her contract. According to Marina, in those years the last thing she wanted was to work 24 hours a day under the supervision of producers who forbade her to communicate with young people and girlfriends. Later, Volkova tried to return to the stage, but she was unable to build either a career or a personal life. Now the former Barbie is not married and is as far away from show business as she once connected her future with - Marina works as a personal secretary.

Dana Borisova, 41 years old

Struggle with drug addiction, loss of custody of daughter

Dana is unlucky in her personal life. After breaking up with her daughter’s father, businessman Maxim Aksenov, in 2007, the TV presenter tried to find love on the show “Let’s Get Married!”, where she chose businessman Alexei Pankov, who turned out to be a gigolo.

In the summer of 2020, Borisova married businessman Andrei Troshchenko - this marriage became her first official marriage and so far her only one. Then the blonde said that she had finally found “the one,” but... six months after the wedding, Troshchenko and Borisov divorced. At the same time, Troshchenko left his wife in her own car. Borisova reported the theft because her husband did not answer calls.

As soon as discussions about Dana's divorce subsided, it became known about her drug addiction. In the spring, Dana’s friends - TV presenter Andrei Malakhov and musician Prokhor Chaliapin - deceived her into sending her to Koh Samui for rehabilitation. Until recently, Borisova thought that she was participating in the filming of a reality show in Thailand. It turned out that a clinic, conversations with a psychologist, yoga and complete isolation awaited Dana on the island.

At the clinic, Dana tried to use psychotropic drugs, which she secretly brought with her, stated that she was being held by force, and in Moscow, meanwhile, they were discussing at what point the situation with Dana got out of control. The TV presenter's ex-boyfriend Alexey Pankov stated that Dana had been an addict for many years, and in 2014 she had a heart attack.

Dana herself believes that her addiction dates back to her youth, when at the age of 16, on the advice of her mother, she began to regularly take sleeping pills. Dana began using psychotropic substances together with her PR director, the late Tim Brick, who died in 2016.

Be that as it may, Dana managed to come to her senses: she returned from the island sober and enlightened, ready to help other addicts. But in Moscow, Borisova faced another test: her ex-husband, having learned about the drug story, sued her for custody of her 10-year-old daughter Polina. Dana assures that her daughter is opposed to her and only answers the phone to insult her mother.

The latest gloomy news related to Dana today was rumors about Borisova’s suicide attempt. Allegedly, the TV presenter took potent drugs that were prescribed to her as part of drug addiction treatment, and then she called an ambulance. Dana denied this and stated that she really called the doctors, but she did not have thoughts of suicide. “I’ve been sick for the last three weeks. The terrible dry cough got worse. I took a large amount of medicine prescribed by the doctor and felt unwell. I called an ambulance and they washed me,” Dana said. We can only wish Borisova a complete recovery from all illnesses.

Evgeny Osin, 53 years old

Alcoholism, because of which the daughter does not communicate with the artist

The courtyard romantic of the 90s has lost his former enthusiasm, and alcohol is to blame. Osin sought solace in drinking, having fallen into depression after a divorce. His only daughter Agnia remained to live with her mother, and for some time Osin taught music at the girl’s school in order to communicate with the child. Evgeniy tried to produce a teenage group with the participation of his daughter, but did not achieve success. As a result, due to alcoholism, Agnia completely stopped communicating with her father.

Last August it became known that Osin’s condition was catastrophic. The footage from the program “New Russian Sensations” on NTV was shocking. In front of the camera is a man with slurred tongue, apparently after a long binge, preparing for hospitalization. A little later, the doctor said that a delay in treatment could cost the artist his life. Information appeared that Osin was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, but Osin himself denied this.

Having been discharged from the hospital - with or without cirrhosis - Evgeniy Osin... returned to his usual way of life. In the spring, he filed a complaint with the police against his unfamiliar drinking buddies who had robbed him. At the end of the summer, Osin went to the hospital, and from there he went to Samui to a clinic, where they helped Dana Borisova. True, Osin didn’t like it in Thailand because of the strict regime and restrictions. But nevertheless, the rehabilitation, despite the patient’s dissatisfaction, yielded results: the musician appeared in Andrei Malakhov’s studio sober and fit.

Music career

By his school graduation, the young man clearly decided that he would become a musician, and entered the Gnessin School. By this time, Viktor Gubin had already settled into the capital and served as vice-president of the Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange. With his help, Andrei recorded two more albums and in 1989 appeared with his song on television in the program “Up to 16 and older.”

After school, Andrei entered the Gnessin School

In 1994, the aspiring artist met Leonid Agutin at one of the song competitions. With his support, Gubin recorded his first studio album, “Tramp Boy,” which sold half a million copies. From that moment on, a stellar period began in the performer’s career. Andrei’s songs topped the charts and were heard at every discotheque, concert performances filled the halls, and there was no end to enthusiastic fans. Andrey Gubin - “The Boy is a Tramp” The next albums “Only You” and “It Was, But It’s Gone” turned out to be no less successful and were also doomed to success. Andrey began collaborating with other performers, wrote several songs for Olga Orlova, Zhanna Friske, the group “Kraski”, and began producing Yulia Beretta. He was awarded many prestigious music awards, and in 2004 he became an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

Andrey Gubin and Zhanna Friske

In 2007, Viktor Gubin unexpectedly died of a heart attack. His death became a great psychological trauma for Andrei, who at that time was already experiencing a creative crisis.

After the death of his father, Andrei experienced a creative crisis

He began to drink a lot, stopped appearing in public and reacted extremely negatively to publications about himself in the press. The situation was aggravated by the death of his mother in 2012. Gubin completely disappeared from view, became a recluse, and prolonged depression developed into a complex nervous disease, due to which the artist experiences constant excruciating pain. Chris Kelmi, 62 years old

Alcohol addiction and several strokes

Another patient of the Asian rehabilitation clinic is musician Chris Kelmi. Since 2011, news about the artist has been associated exclusively with his drunken antics and crimes. Kelmi was deprived of his license for drunk driving, but this did not stop the artist: he continued to drive drunk and without a license, for which he was imprisoned several times for several days. In 2014, Kelmi became the culprit of a serious accident in which a motorcycle driver was almost injured, and a few months later the drunken artist was taken to the hospital straight from the street - he fell asleep on a bench.

In 2020, a drunken Kelmi appeared in Andrei Malakhov’s studio, and a couple of years later Dana Borisova decided to take on her colleague. At that time, the musician’s condition was critical: Kelmi suffered more than 10 epileptic seizures and several strokes. After a month of rehabilitation on Samui, Kelmi decided to return, but he had another attack at the airport, and Chris remained on the island, where he is still located.
