Irina Viner-Usmanova: “When students get into mischief, I always tell them: “I’ll drive you out like a dog.”

Biography of Irina Viner

The legendary city of Samarkand is the place where, in the hot summer of 1948, a girl was born who was named Irina. There was already a boy in the family, so everyone was really looking forward to the birth of a girl. Initially, Ira attended a dance club, but she was not very attracted to such a pastime. Eleven years after Irina’s birth, the family decided to move to the larger Tashkent, where the girl quickly found her calling - she signed up for rhythmic gymnastics.

During her school years, Wiener became the winner of republican competitions in this sport three times, which proves her talent and desire to develop specifically in the arts. gymnastics

Irina Viner - childhood

Wiener was born into a very intelligent family. Her mother worked as a doctor, and her father held the title of Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR. In addition, there was also a beloved grandfather who connected his life with playing the violin. That is, the childhood of the future celebrity was very interesting and measured.

Irina met adolescence already in Tashkent. Hard training began on thin. gymnastics, trips to competitions, school. Initially, Wiener expressed a desire to try herself as an actress, performing several times in various school productions, but gradually rhythmic gymnastics captured her more and more, forcing her to refuse and forget about other fleeting hobbies.

Irina Viner and Alisher Usmanov

For a long time now, the name of the head coach of the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team has been pronounced with some special respect, the Summer Olympic Games in London, as another reason to admire the will of this woman. She is responsible for the careers of such famous athletes as Kabaeva, Kanaeva, Chashchina, Batyrshina, Barsukova, Zaripova and many others. There are legends about what a strict coach Irina Alexandrovna is. And she herself does not hide the fact that discipline and character are the key to success. Much is known about the successes of this woman, but very little is known about how her life developed outside the gym. I read in one of the publications that if I had found a talented director and filmed the life story of Irina Viner, the film would definitely have become a blockbuster. And that's probably true. Anyone who was at least a little interested in Wiener’s person could easily find out that she is the wife of the richest man in Russia, Alisher Usmanov, and also that she has a very adult son. But not everyone knows that in the history of the development of Irina Alexandrovna Viner’s personality, a love story that happened a long time ago and continues to this day played a very important role.

Wiener was born in Samarkand, in a Jewish family. Her father was an artist, her mother a doctor. At the age of 11, little Ira went to training with Liliya Petrova for the first time. From then on it all began. In 7 years, Wiener managed to become the Champion of Uzbekistan three times and become a Master of Sports. But in 1972, she clearly decided to become a coach. Alisher Usmanov was born about 600 kilometers from Samarkand, 5 years later. After some time, the family moved to Tashkent, where the father was appointed city prosecutor. The family was wealthy, Alisher was the oldest of 4 sons. As a child, carried away by reading The Three Musketeers, he became seriously interested in swords and fencing. The parents, noticing their son’s interest, sent the boy to the section; after 2 years, young Alisher became a member of the national team (Soviet Union). It was then, during training at the Sports Palace, that young Viner and Usmanov saw each other for the first time. After some time, Alisher left the sport, and in 1971 he went to study at MGIMO. At this time, Irina Viner got married and had a son, Anton (Nathan), but, unfortunately, less than a year later, she separated from her husband and decided to leave for Moscow, because there were the greatest opportunities to develop rhythmic gymnastics . Already in Moscow, the young mother meets 4th year MGIMO student Alisher. Both understand - fate! But for Irina, who had recently gone through a divorce and was left with a small child in her arms, it was too early to think about a new relationship. She tried to get back on her feet, and was afraid to trust the man again. But Usmanov was persistent, she did not give up for a long time, but in the end she thawed out. Then they began to live together; she did not want to think about marriage. This time she decided to live by feelings and that’s it. After some time, they return to Tashkent, she does gymnastics, he develops a business. Everything was fine until, like a bolt from the blue, the famous “Cotton Affair” happened. Usmanov ends up behind bars. Wiener, who at that time was already taking her players to competitions, and had practically never been to Tashkent during the training season, begins to snatch every minute to come, see, say the most important words that she is nearby, and she will never refuse From him. As they say, in her entire life she never complained to anyone about that period, and only once in a conversation did she mention how hard the seats were on Turkmen trains. It was then that she asked him not to give up, not to let her go and to hold on. And it was then, while in prison, that he proposed to her for the first time. But he will be released from prison only after 6 years. For her, these 6 years are a continuous wait.

After their release, they move to Moscow again. They live as before, she is all about sports, he begins to promote his business. After 6 years of such a life, unexpectedly for her, he proposes to her a second time, she agrees. At the time of their marriage in 1992, their relationship had already lasted 16 years. She said more than once that they rarely see each other, she is always in Novogorsk, he is on the road. But she never forgets to mention that such love does not fade away over time and is not eaten up by everyday life.

With Alisher’s mother
Fragments of several interviews:
“When asked about her husband, Viner is silent for a long time, then smiles with an incredibly warm smile and says: “Well, what can I tell you... such love does not age and does not wear out. We don’t see each other as often as we would like, but... No matter where I am on the planet, I know they love me, they believe in me and what I do, they will always help me with advice. Isn’t that enough?!” »

“Your husband Alisher Usmanov is a co-owner of the Arsenal football club.
You didn’t ask why he bought shares in an English club and not a Russian one? “I try not to get involved in my husband’s affairs.” I am an Eastern woman and am used to the fact that the husband is the head of the family. When the husband enters the house, the wife should greet him standing. And at the same time lower your eyes.” “Do you see your husband often? There is probably no reason for the head of the Metalloinvest holding to spend days and nights in Novogorsk? - You're right. He is in Moscow all the time. He goes abroad, but has no plans to leave Russia - despite all the rumors that accompany him after buying Arsenal. He loves our country very much. He bought paintings from the collection of Vishnevskaya and Rostropovich and donated them to the state. I acquired our famous Soviet cartoons, which for some reason turned out to be the property of the Americans. He does a lot of things for Russia. But I don’t have the right to voice everything. And I know little about his affairs. This is my upbringing. And I raise my gymnast girls in the same way. I teach them that family, husband, children are the most important thing. The husband comes first, then the children. And all this together makes up a woman’s happiness. And work and everything else is secondary. « Updated 04/10/12 22:58
: PS: Some corrections to the article. I would like to clarify that in July 2000, the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan completely rehabilitated Usmanov, calling the criminal case against him fabricated. Usmanov was declared a victim of political repression. And you should probably pay attention, in an excerpt from one of the interviews at the end of the post, it is said that Usmanov is the head of the Metalloinvest holding; in fact, he is the founder, but not the head.

Sports career

Irina finished high school very well, receiving a gold medal at graduation. For a long time, Wiener’s parents persuaded her to connect her future life with medicine and go to enroll in just such a university, but the girl insisted on her own and chose the physical education department, although some believed that her height of 165 centimeters could become an obstacle to Ira’s sports career.

Naturally, studying at a university is not only training, but a fairly large amount of various theoretical and scientific work. It was the latter that greatly fascinated Wiener, especially after she was once asked to take measurements and evaluate a group of growing gymnasts. This was a turning point in the life of Wiener, who decided to devote herself to coaching.

Coaching activities

After receiving higher education, Wiener gets a job as a coach, first at a local Olympic reserve school, and then accepts an offer to lead the Uzbek artistic team. gymnastics Irina will work in this field for the next twenty years of her life, raising a whole galaxy of champions.

The collapse of the Soviet Union expanded Wiener's prospects as a coach. She continued to train gymnasts from the now independent Uzbekistan, while simultaneously training promising girls from Britain. As a result, many of her students from Foggy Albion showed brilliant results, some of them were able to conquer the highest steps of the podium at the 1992 Olympics. In her native Uzbekistan, Irina’s activities were also appreciated - she was awarded the title of Honored Trainer of this state.

All this led to Irina Viner receiving an invitation from Russia. The country has not yet recovered from the events of 1991, so at first it was very difficult to engage in coaching. Absolutely everything was missing. Often I had to give my money to rent a hall or buy costumes for gymnasts, and also search for everything I needed on my own, instead of calmly training young talents. But Wiener was able to survive this, of course, the most difficult period in her, first of all, coaching career, proving to the whole world that she is capable of revealing talents, giving rhythmic gymnastics a large number of outstanding athletes.

From personal life

Irina Viner and her first husband began living together at the age of 23. This life experience as a wife was not entirely successful. Nevertheless, from his first marriage in 1973, a child was born - a son, Anton, who received the surname Wiener.

The second husband is Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov - a wealthy man who owns . The people met in hot Tashkent because they were training at the same sports complex. At that time, the young gymnast showed great promise, and Alisher showed unprecedented achievements in fencing.

Many years later, a new meeting took place in the vastness of Moscow. Irina, being a successful coach, successfully brought young athletes to the finals of the most high-profile and prestigious competitions. Having seen each other, Viner and Usmanov resumed communication, which soon led to a whirlwind romance. However, Alisher found himself in an unpleasant situation with subsequent imprisonment.

While in prison, the man sent Irina a scarf, which, according to Uzbek custom, means the most serious intentions - a real marriage proposal. She immediately agreed and a magnificent wedding took place on Rublyovka. Currently, her husband fully supports Irina Aleksandrovna Viner-Usmanova in the implementation of her plans.

The son of the famous trainer Anton Wiener is the owner of a chain of beauty salons, as well as clubs and centers with solariums, united under the common name “Sun and City”. He also owns a whole chain of prestigious restaurants “Uryuk”.

Star students of Irina Viner

Naturally, Wiener “lit the stars” not only in Russia, because before being invited to our country, she also trained representatives of other countries for many years. For example, it was thanks to her that the world learned about such gymnasts from Uzbekistan as Marina Nikolaeva, Venera Zaripova and Vera Shatalina. And in the British Isles, Viva Siefert and Debi Southwick were able to grow into Olympic medalists, although they had never even dreamed of such success before Irina Wiener joined the English team.

In the Russian Federation, under the guidance of a coach, the following gymnasts shone:

  • Amina Zaripova, who became the European and World champion.
  • Yulia Barsukova is the winner of the Sydney Olympic Games.
  • Yanina Baryshina, who also brought home Olympic medals.
  • Alina Kabaeva, a brilliant athlete who conquered the world and European championships in artistic expression. gymnastics

And this is only a part of the gymnasts who, under the leadership of Irina Viner, achieved the highest results in their sports careers.

The scientific work that Irina fell in love with during her university studies was not forgotten. Wiener continued it, while working in the coaching field. First, in 2003, she defended her candidate’s thesis, then, ten years later, her doctoral dissertation, and received the well-deserved title of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences.

Naturally, the coach’s career was followed all over the world, so it was not at all surprising that Wiener was appointed in 2008 as the head of the Russian Federation of Arts. gymnastics

Personal life and family

Wiener met her current husband, Alisher Usmanov, in her youth, when she met him in Tashkent, during training - Irina was doing arts. gymnastics, and Alisher - fencing. But fate did not immediately bring these people together. Wiener married another man at the age of 23, and at twenty-five her son Anton was born, but this could not save the marriage, which very quickly fell apart.

Once again, Viner and Usmanov meet in Moscow, quite many years after their first acquaintance. Irina and Alisher were attracted to each other, so this meeting marked the beginning of a close relationship, which was interrupted due to the unexpected arrest of Usmanov. From his prison cell, Usmanov sent a parcel to Irina. Inside was a scarf, which according to Eastern traditions is considered a marriage proposal. Wiener agreed to it and in 1992 a marriage took place between the young people.

Usmanov has long become a billionaire, Wiener is a successful coach, and their marriage is as strong as in the first days after its conclusion. The only thing that overshadows it a little is the couple’s lack of children together.

Wiener is Jewish by nationality; her parents are intellectuals (mother is a doctor, father is a member of the Academy of Arts). The family lived in Samarkand and raised two children. The girl's love for music comes from her grandfather, a violinist. Irina was interested in theater, ballet, and music. The parents could not help but notice that there was an artistic nature in their daughter, and the girl’s biography of the actress would not escape her. She is an honored trainer in Uzbekistan. The Wiener team is gradually becoming international, the coach works with gymnasts from Britain and Great Britain. Irina Alexandrovna raised the absolute world and European champion Alina Kabaeva.

A cherished wish has come true: our own complex has been built to educate real champions.

Such a training village is located in Novogorsk. There is an educational institution here that provides comprehensive training for young athletes. The institution has its own official website, which contains documents, photos, and news. On Instagram, Irina runs her own page, talking about the life of the sports school and the achievements of her students.

Irina Viner Usmanova: biography of personal life

Here the woman has enviable constancy, as in her work. But there were failures on the love front as well. The girl got married for the first time at the age of 23, gave birth to a son, Anton, gave the child her last name and does not want to remember her first experience of marriage. The second and so far only husband is Alisher Usmanov. They met on the territory of the sports complex: a gymnast and a fencer. Both are young and talented. This happened in Tashkent, but it did not develop into a close relationship.

Several years passed, and in Moscow the already famous coach Irina Viner and Alisher Usmanov met again. Their friendship gradually moved to a new stage, but the young man ended up in prison because of the scandal. Nevertheless, this circumstance could not prevent the lover from proposing to his girlfriend. The couple have been together since then. The family is very friendly and takes care of each member. Anton has a network of solariums, restaurants and beauty salons. Now Alisher Usmanov owns the Metalloinvest holding; he has earned the title of billionaire and, due to his fortune, he is one of the richest and most influential people in Russia. His illustrious wife often attends parties and get-togethers, which are attended by real stars: Philip Kirkorov, Igor Vernik, Alla Pugacheva, Grigory Leps and others.
