Members of the team

Every Moscow producer on the threshold of a new era, inspired by the popularity of world-famous youth groups, sought to create his own, operating at least within the country. Some succeeded, others turned into fly-by-night bands, recording a maximum of a few compositions.

group Girls composition

In 1999, the idea of creating a girl group was decided to be implemented by a talented and respected Moscow composer and producer, Igor Matvienko. Out of hundreds of applicants, he chose only four. These were young, carefree and very cheerful girls with a pleasant appearance and good vocal abilities. The team received the appropriate name – “Girls”.

The main stages of creativity

At the end of 2012, five young vocalists appeared on television for the first time, taking part in a popular show on the STB TV channel, and the following year they released a video for the song “Stop People!”, which broke the record for views and downloads of the first song.

The young beauty of the girls, their spontaneity and captivating sincerity also played an important role in the growing popularity of the group. Unlike many other projects, Open Kids songs were filled with content that worries every teenager: the girls sang about dreams, about relationships with peers. During 2014, they recorded songs such as “For Dessert” and “Milky Way,” and in 2020 they presented the compositions “For Joy” and “Don’t Dance!”

At the end of 2020, it became known that Veronica Vernik left the group, and her place was taken by the young Russian Anna Muzafarova, a native of Chelyabinsk. That year, the girls gave their first concert, received the Breakthrough Award from Europa Plus and were named the strongest musical group in Ukraine.

The song “It seems,” released in 2020, became a real hit, and this is not surprising, because it is about teenage love. A sad, but very bright and beautiful composition marked a new stage in the group’s creativity, and fans noticed how much their favorites had matured.

The compositions “Hooligan”, “The Sky is Breathing” and “Sticker” became especially popular.

Hits of the group

The quartet existed for a very short period and nevertheless managed to be remembered by the audience for several video works. The debut composition was called “I want to be a bird” and was performed in a very cheerful manner. The group "Girls", whose composition has changed only once since its creation, immediately received recognition from young people and became quite popular, although music critics did not take this group seriously. And at the presentation of one of the awards, presenter Anatoly Anatolyevich declared them as the most frivolous group.

The next video was more serious, and the video even entered the top ten compositions according to Muz-TV. “Mama Said” showed the girls as romantic and vulnerable and was released in 2000.

For two years, the group “Girls,” whose composition remained the same, performed at festivals and clubs. The girls worked actively in the studio and recorded their first album.

In 2003, the group’s last video work was released, but as a trio - “And I’m so beautiful today.”

After graduating from school in Novodvinsk, Sofia went to the Northern capital and entered the St. Petersburg Institute of Culture and Arts. After graduating in 2008, she became a certified director of theatrical performances and remained to work in St. Petersburg.

In 2013, the girl won first prize at the competitive festival “Youth for the Union State”, held in Rostov-on-Don. And in 2014, a new chapter in her biography entitled “Little Big” opened for Sophia.

“You need to believe in yourself and not give up. I live by the motto - whatever is done, everything is for the better. And even when I wanted to stop singing, fate worked out that I still became a singer,” this is how the artist commented on the beginning of her career in a rave group.

Care of Irina Dubtsova

In 2001, Irina Dubtsova left the group. The producer decided not to look for a replacement for her. The group continued to function as a trio. Ira began her musical career in her native Volgograd, and was a member of the youth group “Jam”. He considers his participation in the Moscow group an important stage in his creative career. 1999-2001 Group "Girls": composition

  • Dubtsova Irina.
  • Gerasimova Tanya.
  • Teterich Lipa.
  • Rubtsova Valya.

As Dubtsova admitted, she was going nowhere, she just felt that she had outgrown the status of the group. For some time, Ira worked at a studio with friends as an advertising manager and backing vocalist. At the same time, she wrote songs, and many of them were performed by already famous stars.

Her former companions in the “Girls” group, whose composition had turned into a trio, sent Ira on her way, without having any complaints against her. In their few interviews, the remaining vocalists even admitted that they were more comfortable performing as a trio. Igor Matvienko also said goodbye to his ward without conflicts. During this period, he was busy producing the first “Factory”, so there was not enough time for his own projects.

Create a group

The official year of formation of the group is considered to be 2012, when the first Open Kids video was released. However, the history of the group began a year earlier, when from the girls studying vocals and choreography at the Kiev creative workshop Open Art Studio, five completely different and not even very familiar girls were selected, who were connected only by vocal abilities, efficiency and desire for popularity.

Producer Yuri Petrov and his team

The author of the bold project, which was supposed to be of interest to children from 6 to 13 years old, is Yuri Petrov. Together with his sister Nika, the young producer developed the concept of the group, based on creating and cultivating the image of an “advanced” modern girl who is interested in creativity, strives for self-development, does not drink alcohol and drugs, but at the same time has a bright personality, dresses fashionably, follows trends and knows how to dance well.

Open Kids participants at the beginning of their careers

A few years later, in one of his interviews, Yuri claimed that, while working on the image of the group, he tried to create a team that was as different as possible from the girls from Tatu who once made a splash, who, in his opinion, although they were talented, deserved popularity mainly speculation about their teenage sexuality and rumors surrounding their gayness. In the fall of 2012, the first song of the group “Show Girls”, written by Regina Todorenko and singer Lina Mitsuki, and a video clip for it were released, one of the authors of which was Denis Yakimchuk, and the second was Yuri Petrov himself. The words “draw your life with your own hands, dance with us” echoed like a refrain in the hearts of teenagers, and the beautiful and sunny video sequence became an illustration of exactly the life that every schoolchild dreams of. The three of the girls continued to work, but they realized that the team was lagging behind the competitors. As the project participants admitted, it was difficult for them to compete with Via Groi and Strelka. Therefore, having performed at the Muz-TV awards with one of their best compositions, “Island,” the girls decided to break up and go their separate ways.
