“Black and White”, “Threads of Fate” and “The Last Hero”
In a couple of years, actress Mila Sivatskaya has achieved an incredible amount: filming in the most successful films, recognition from viewers, a huge number of fans... Of course, all thanks to her love for her work and her masterful performance on camera.
Mila told our portal about her childhood, the beginning of her creative career, filming in popular films and TV series, favorite books, fashion preferences, favorite food, plans for the future... Read an interview with Mila Alekseevna Sivatskaya on VLVmag
— Mila, tell us about your childhood. About dreams, hobbies, favorite things... Sometimes you want to go back to that time? What association do you have with the word “childhood”?
— I remember my childhood every time I go to the store. You know, there are such simple unsweetened buns called “Malyatko”. I’m not sure if they exist in Russia... So, as a child, I really loved these buns with lemonade. And bread with condensed milk. What a childhood! I was also a very energetic child, tearing and throwing everything and everyone. My parents were probably ashamed of my actions, and they were really waiting for me to calm down and start behaving like a normal child. It seems that by the age of 19 I’m already doing it well.
— This fall, the premiere of the film “The Last Bogatyr” took place, in which you played one of the main roles. How were you chosen for the role of Vasilisa? Tell us how the filming process went. Were there many funny and unusual moments during the filming of the film?
“I got this role absolutely by accident, through Facebook. I was 16 years old, I was on social networks and added everyone as friends. One day I added a director, and he suddenly wrote to me: “How do you feel about working in Russia?” I said okay. And it started spinning... Then, for two months, while I was reading the script and going to auditions, I thought, “No, who needs me there?” But they took me! I told this story in many interviews, and recently I received a remark from our director Dmitry Dyachenko: “Mila, that’s enough. Ukrainian actresses are attacking me on Facebook, stop it.”
The filming was very cool, because for me it was all completely new. Very often, the filming of series takes place in the format: a day - 15-20 minutes of serial time... And still they don’t have time to do anything, they are always working on it. We only filmed for a minute, two, three. Because of this, there was some kind of tension; they were afraid of not being able to make it in time. But, in fact, it was very cool! And the result was worth it - we made the highest-grossing Russian film in the history of the CIS. I don’t have some kind of masterpiece game in it for which you can demand an Oscar, but I am very proud that I became part of such a project. I like that my heroine is not very talkative... And I also fight very well there.

— You played the main role in the very emotional and dramatic series “Threads of Fate.” Describe your heroine Olga-Alexandrina. Is actress Mila Sivatskaya somewhat similar to her? In your opinion, can such an incredible story happen in real life? Did filming this series teach you anything?
— I love “Threads of Fate”... Filming of this series took place parallel to “Bogatyr” and to be honest, I had a little fear... We shot forty episodes in two and a half months. This is approximately forty hours of airtime. And we shot the hour and a half film for 1.5 months. That's a lot of work! I thought that I would play too much, that something would go wrong... I never studied acting anywhere, so I was afraid that I would fail. It’s very hard to be on all the time, constantly thinking quickly, so as not to make mistakes and do everything great.
Well, how long has it been? Probably a year and a half or two already, but “Threads” is still the most successful project in the creative biography of the Ukrainian actress Mila Sivatskaya. I'm most proud of him from an acting standpoint. Just today I had to send a couple of scenes for work, and I quickly looked through the episodes. And such nostalgia washed over me! Firstly, there was a very cool cast of actors with whom I became very close friends. My partner Zhenya Rozanova, who played Katya, became a revelation for me. We still communicate very well with her. You know, in life it happens when everything coincides, and “Threads of Fate” is just such a period for me.

And Sasha-Olya... yes, she and I are somewhat similar. I have the same faith as her, the same drive. But I'm not that naive. This is probably our main difference. In recent years, TV series have been filmed mainly about strong women who will go through everything, but in the end will achieve their goal. And “Threads” with my heroine definitely fits this description.
Could this happen in real life? Probably, at 13 years old I would have said: “No, it couldn’t, this is nonsense.” But the longer I live, the more I understand that there are a lot of abnormal and simply retarded people around. Fate can present so many things and sometimes it’s such trash that “can’t fit your head”... And then, you walk into the frame and think “Lord, this could really happen somewhere.” Therefore, I believe that such stories, bursting with injustice, happen somewhere. In general, I really love “Threads of Fate” and would gladly take part in the second season.

— Do you like to cook? Do you have a favorite dish?
— I really like to cook, but I do it according to my mood. I won’t say that I dream of the life of a woman who cooks and raises children all the time. But just for myself and for my loved ones, on some intermittent basis, I love to cook.
Do I have a favorite dish? No matter how funny it may sound, I really love McDonald's. If I feel bad, I don’t care about the diet or anything at all, and just go to McDonald’s. Because it's very tasty! I also love simple pasta with butter. These are the usual ones, for thirty rubles. On the one hand, I am a gourmet, I love all sorts of interesting exotic salads, some strange dishes that are not prepared every day. But this base of the Soviet Union, which my parents passed on to me regarding nutrition, will not give me peace, I think, for the rest of my life.
— How do you feel about different diets?
- Probably the same as my mother. She always wondered why diets were needed when you could just not overeat and exercise. And she's right about that. It is enough to give up something, sacrifice your weaknesses, and your weight will immediately drop noticeably. And the word “diet,” it seems to me, is just a way to embellish a process in which you really don’t want to participate. And with all sorts of fashionable recipes, the cult of PP nutrition, people motivate themselves, consoling themselves that this is healthy and cool.

The best winter drink for Mila Sivatskaya is...
— Sea buckthorn tea with ginger.
— Do you follow fashion? What does “being stylish” mean to you? Which clothing style do you prefer?
— Yes, I follow fashion. But unfortunately, this doesn’t help me at all - I still dress in the exact opposite style... And I don’t know what to do about it. I understand that in order to be stylish, you need to work in this direction. You have to walk in these uncomfortable high-heeled shoes, you have to be cold... Have you ever noticed that passers-by are dressed three times warmer than, for example, Bella Hadid? That's why I have a question: am I ready to freeze every day just to be stylish? For now, probably not.
Of course, I have some exceptional cases when I need to put on something like that and freeze. But whenever possible, I choose comfort. These are simple things - boots, sneakers, sneakers, uggs. For me there is nothing more beautiful than these things. And so I try to be more or less stylish, choosing suitable clothes with shoes that are comfortable for me. Many people say that stylish does not mean expensive, but very often fashion trends in the mass market do not appear immediately. And it’s strange to follow them a year after they came out on the show... Plus, to afford some kind of beauty, you need a car, but for now I get around by minibuses or in the subway. Therefore, for now I wear what I like, and with a calm soul I wait until I turn 25. Then we’ll talk about style.

— In the modern world, most people completely forget about books and literature. Do you like to read? Do you have any favorite works? Can you highlight a book that you think everyone should read?
— Yes, unfortunately, many people forget about the existence of books. And I really like to read, but lately I haven’t been in the mood for it either. If a book doesn't grab me from the first twenty pages, I get bored and I can't bring myself to continue reading it... A bunch of questions appear in my head that sound more interesting than what I'm reading. Now I'm desperately searching for interesting books. But that’s not what the question was about...
Of course, I have my favorite works. I love poetry very much, I love Rozhdestvensky, Blok and Brodsky. Oh, and Polozkov. I think everyone should read what appeals to them personally. And so many times people ask me about my favorite book, but I can’t answer because they are different. The exact hit is “Bikini” by Vishnevsky - my favorite. I also really liked Roberts' Shantaram and Diana Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale.
There is also a Ukrainian writer, a journalist with Georgian roots, who wrote two books - “Inside a Woman” and “Inside a Man”. She simply talked to women, changing their names, telling stories. She interviewed both sexes and wrote two books based on them. I highly recommend reading it. It was just republished in a new edition. I admire her, I have her autograph in each of my books... She is very similar to Vishnevsky, to Gavalda. A very tasty writer.
By the way, Gavalda... I really liked her little work on the topic of whether you should get a divorce, or whether you should live together for the rest of your life. It's called “He Loved Her.” She loved her." Also, “Me, My Friends and Heroin” is an autobiographical work by a German woman who began injecting heroin at the age of 16 or 15. Maybe also “We are children from Zoo Station” by Christian Felscherinou. This list could go on for a very long time... And, of course, Harry Potter! That's where I started reading. As a child, I really loved to play football, and my mother always said: “Until you read the first 100 pages, you won’t go anywhere.” And so I sat, read a hundred pages of Harry Potter, and ended up going to play football only two or three weeks later. Until I finished reading all seven parts, I couldn’t calm down! I remember when Dumbledore died, I cried. And even worse than in the series “Threads of Fate”.

— The New Year holidays are quickly coming to an end. How do you usually celebrate the beginning of the New Year? Is there any New Year's tradition in Lyudmila Sivatskaya's family?
— I always celebrate the New Year with my family. We all get together and walk for several days. We prepare food - Olivier salad, salads, chicken... This is the best time! You know, I had this story as a child: my older brother, my parents and I went to the store, and when we returned, there were a lot of gifts under the tree. And I believed then that Santa Claus did it. This year I wanted to recreate a very similar painting. I wanted my parents to believe in the New Year's miracle! Unfortunately, this year my plan did not come true, but there is still more to come!
— Your favorite activity during the winter holidays...
- Probably do nothing and just relax. This is so wonderful! Snow is falling outside, and once a day you go out to play in the snow and do only some light things. Then you all get together, watch a good movie, eat delicious food and play board games. For me, this is the ideal master plan. My mother and I like to watch a lot of Soviet films: “The Irony of Fate”, “Girls”... There is something beautiful about it.

— What are your creative and life plans for the near future?
— At the beginning of February, I’m starting a very cool and well-known project, about which, unfortunately, I can’t say anything yet. The script is almost completely finished, I read it and understand that it will be incredibly cool. I really hope that I will soon be allowed to talk about the project and my role in it. I've been suffering for six months now!
I really hope that next year will be fruitful and we will film the second part of our fairy tale. This is not 100% known yet, but after we created the highest-grossing Russian film, I understand that anything is possible. I hope I will have a new creative breakthrough and by summer I will be slim and beautiful. You know, every New Year I eat Olivier and promise myself that spring will come soon, and by summer I will be a beauty. I hope this 2020 my plan will work out!

The thin, petite actress (height – 163 cm, weight – 48 kg) is in demand among directors for the role of gentle, defenseless heroines. After her role in the film “The Genius of Empty Place,” Mila Sivatskaya played a number of episodic roles: Vika (“Waiting List”), Asya Kravtsova (“Women’s Doctor”), Dasha “White Roses of Hope” and others. The young actress played her first leading role in the Ukrainian horror film “Sinevir”, filmed by director Vyacheslav Aleshechkin in 2013.

Mila starred in the role of the girl Ivanka, who went fishing with her brother Sash on the mysterious Lake Synevyr. While fishing, the children at first did not notice that strange things were starting to happen around them. The film “Sinevir” won the Grand Prix at the International 3D Stereo Film Festival in Moscow. After finishing her work in the film “Sinevir”, Mila Sivatskaya continued working in cinema. She played in the Ukrainian TV series “Ambulance” and “Dog”.
In 2020, the actress starred in the drama “Yesterday. Today. Forever" directed by Miroslav Malic. The girl got the role of the daughter of the main character. In the series, Mila played together with artists Evgenia Loza, Evgeny Pronin, Roman Polyansky and others.
Mila Sivatskaya in the film “Threads of Fate”
In 2020, the Ukrainian series “Threads of Fate” was released. The film is an adaptation of the Korean sitcom Cinderella's Shoe. Two sisters, Katya and Olya, were left orphans. Fate separated the girls into different families: Katya lives in prosperity with her rich grandfather, and Olya is a hanger-on in someone else’s house. Sisters meet after many years. Now they are rivals in the fight for the heart of the handsome prince, played by actor Denis Vasiliev. The role of Olya was played by Mila Sivatskaya.

Another successful work of Mila Sivatskaya in cinema is Zhenya in the mini-series “Wounded Heart”. Zhenya is the daughter of Moscow architect Maxim Poverenov, who only recently learned about her existence. After the death of Zhenya's mother, Maxim takes the girl to live with him. The relationship between the newly-minted relatives is not cloudless; Zhenya finds it difficult to integrate into her new life.
Actor career
Despite many other talents, Mila's main work in life was acting. At the age of 8, she met director Anatoly Mateshko, who was just looking for a boy ballerina for his detective story “The Genius of Empty Space.” Sivatskaya captivated him with her charisma, and the script was quickly remade “for a girl.”

After this film, Mila had a whole galaxy of episodic roles in films and TV series, including the famous projects “Women’s Doctor” with Ilya Noskov, “Vera. Hope. Love" with Maria Poroshina and Dmitry Kharatyan, "Waiting List", "The Return of Mukhtar" with Alexey Shutov, "Ambulance" with Valeria Lanskaya. She could be seen in MTS advertising, in the videos of the Polish singer Mandaryna, Gaitana, Kolya Sergi.
The girl's popularity came after the release of the Ukrainian horror film Synevyr in 2013. Mila played the girl Ivanka, who, together with her brother, without the knowledge of her parents, went into the forest, from where cries of “Aw!” were heard. The children thought that these were lost tourists looking for a way home, but did not know about the mysterious creatures that have inhabited these places from time immemorial.
Still from the film “Sinevir”
The film received the Grand Prix at the Moscow 3D Stereo Festival, but was generally received negatively by viewers. It was mainly the screenwriters and cameramen who got the nuts. Mila herself, looking back, believes that she played her role well for an 11-year-old girl, but since then she has grown significantly professionally. She also said the same about the film itself – it’s not bad for Ukraine, but it’s too early to reach the global level. Mila shares fearlessness and determination with her heroine Ivanka. “And I also have a brother, for whom I constantly worry,” the actress joked.
The series “Threads of Fate” (a Ukrainian adaptation of the Korean series “Shoes for Cinderella”) created a furor. This time Mila got the dramatic role of a girl named Olga, separated from her sister Katya (Evgenia Rozanova) due to an accident. Their parents died, and the sisters were taken in by their millionaire grandfather, but one day Olga was hit by a car. She lost her memory, and the driver, in order to hide the crime, took her to his home as free labor. So, in poverty and suffering, her youth passed, until life brought the sisters together again, but as rivals.

The youth of an aspiring actress
In 2010, the girl won the Ukrainian championship in ballroom dancing among juniors. And thanks to her good vocal abilities, in 2012 Sivatskaya became a participant in the famous Ukrainian competition called “The Voice. Children". And just a year before that, the girl tried herself as a singer in Junior Eurovision. And although Mila did not win the prize, she was still remembered by the audience and the jury for her performance and extraordinary charm.
However, these activities were not the girl’s only hobbies. In addition, Mila did gymnastics and synchronized swimming.
First filming
It is known that Mila Sivatskaya completed acting courses. The actress first appeared in films at the age of 8. Initially, they were looking for a boy to play her role. When director Anatoly Mateshko saw Mila, he decided that she should be the heroine of his film. The detective film “Empty Space” became the first film in Mila’s filmography.
Subsequently, Mila Sivatskaya was expected to star in episodic films. So her biography was replenished with the paintings “Faith. Hope. Love", "Women's Doctor" and others. The girl also starred in several videos of Ukrainian and foreign performers. Mila's parents placed their personal lives on the altar of their daughter's success.
The actress's first leading role came in 2013. The girl played in the film “Sinevir” (produced in Ukraine). TV viewers liked Mila's performance. She was often invited to other popular projects. The girl believes that for her age she played quite well in Synevir. However, she has something to strive for. Moreover, the girl has changed a lot since filming. The quality of her acting on camera has improved significantly.
The series “Threads of Fate” brought incredible popularity to Mila Sivatskaya. The plot is based on the biography of two sisters who lost each other, as well as the story of their personal lives, united into one. The production of the film is Ukrainian. The series is based on a Korean series. The translation of the Korean title is “Shoes for Cinderella.”
Modeling career
But this was not enough for a comprehensively developed girl. Excellent external data and incredible charisma gave Mila the opportunity to express herself in the modeling field. So, the young beauty began to pose for children's magazines and catalogs. The year 2007 became truly fateful for Sivatskaya. After all, it was this year that Lyudmila took part in the “Mini Miss Universe” beauty contest and won it. The girl’s active public activity was not in vain, and Mila was noticed.
Very soon the artist got on television, where she was offered to host all kinds of music programs and rating competitions. One of the girl’s most successful works was the “Stars for Children” concert, at which Sivatskaya was the presenter in partnership with Timofey Nagorny. In addition, the girl took part in such projects as “Exclusive”, “Rise”, “X-Factor” and “I Don’t Believe My Eyes”.
But the aspiring actress Mila Sivatskaya completely abandoned dancing for some time. After all, the girl simply could not combine everyday activities and constant filming.
