Childhood
Ivan Yankovsky was born on October 30, 1990 in the capital. Who could become the grandson of the artist who played the main roles in the film masterpieces “That Same Munchausen” and “Flights in a Dream and in Reality” is a rhetorical question. Grandmother Lyudmila Zorina, grandfathers Oleg Yankovsky and Oleg Fandera, parents Philip Yankovsky and Oksana Fandera are successful actors. Both grandfathers are people's artists (Yankovsky - USSR, Fandera - Russia).
Ivan and his sister Elizaveta Yankovsky, five years younger than him, grew up in a creative atmosphere. There were guests in their house whose names and faces are known in the country and abroad. Conversations about theater and cinema, discussions of films and roles, family trips to high-profile season premieres did their job: Vanya and Lisa continued the acting dynasty.
As a child, Ivan Yankovsky did not intend to follow in the footsteps of his parents and family patriarchs. Like all boys, he was fond of sports, jumping from athletics to swimming, then to football and boxing.
But at the age of 10, Vanya first came to the set. He played an angel in the melodrama “Come See Me,” where the main roles went to grandfather Oleg Yankovsky, Irina Kupchenko and Ekaterina Vasilyeva. Yankovsky Jr. professionally coped with the role of a hooligan angel throwing banana skins at his feet. The boy added warmth and childlike spontaneity to the film.
After a successful debut, Ivan Yankovsky's acting genes woke up. From a capital school with a mathematical focus, the parents transferred their son to the Moscow International Film School, where students take their first steps in the profession. Vanya and his peers visited Africa, Turkey and Armenia, where the guys, together with their mentors, made a documentary film.
After graduating from film school, Ivan Yankovsky entered GITIS. The young man abandoned his initial desire to study at the directing department. On the advice of his mother, he chose the acting and directing department and ended up in the workshop of Sergei Zhenovach.
Talented children in a talented family
On the penultimate day of October 1990, in the capital of the Soviet Union that still existed at that time, the future actor Ivan Yankovsky was born. He was born into a family familiar with cinema firsthand. His grandfather, the famous and talented Oleg Yankovsky, became the first to glorify his name throughout the USSR. The boy’s grandmother, Lyudmila Zorina, is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. Ivan's dad is the popular and talented director and actor Philip Yankovsky. The boy’s mother, Oksana Fandera, is no less famous than his father. This amazing actress has starred in many films and her fame is well deserved. In addition to their son, the couple also has a daughter, Lisa, who was born in 1993.
Ivan Yankovsky, whose biography received the origins for its subsequent development in such a talented family, decided not to look for difficult paths and follow in the footsteps of his relatives. This decision surprised no one.

Theater
The creative biography of Ivan Yankovsky is developing in Zhenovach’s workshop. A GITIS student learns the basics of the profession and polishes his skills in student performances based on the works of Moliere, Andrei Platonov, and Anton Chekhov. In 2013, Yankovsky Jr. joined the troupe of Sergei Zhenovach’s theater studio. Ivan played Ivan Bezdomny in The Master and Margarita, Oleg Leonidovich in the production of Suicide, Maksudov in Notes of a Dead Man.
In 2020, Ivan Yankovsky made his debut on the stage of the M. N. Ermolova Theater in the famous play “Duck Hunt” by Alexander Vampilov. The new season of the theater, directed by Oleg Menshikov, is dedicated to the playwright’s 80th birthday. The play was staged by director Evgeniy Marcelli, who has three Golden Mask theater awards to his name. Ivan Yankovsky played the main character - Viktor Zilov. The role of the wife went to Kristina Asmus, and the role of Nina’s mistress went to Daria Melnikova.
After the premiere of the play, in mid-September 2020, theater critics burst out with positive reviews of the work of Yankovsky Jr., saying that a better performer of “Zilov of our time” could not be found. Analogies were drawn with Zilov played by Oleg Dahl, who played Vampilov’s hero in the film drama “Vacation in September.”
We remembered Konstantin Khabensky, who played Zilov on stage in 2002. Theatergoers drew parallels between the hero of Ivan and the “Zilov variation” performed by the famous grandfather in the drama “Flights in a Dream and in Reality.” Critics and theatergoers have come to the conclusion that Nikolai Zilov by Ivan Yankovsky is no less good, but he is different, because he is a contemporary.
