Childhood and youth
Teen idol Konstantin Davydov was born in the provincial town of Staraya Kupavna near Moscow. He studied at school and was not much different from his peers, until suddenly, by chance, he ended up on the set of a multi-part action movie about Chechnya called “Code of Honor.” Kostya was 12 years old. The episodic role became his first film work, which overnight turned his whole life around.
Kostya was looking forward to the last call and, having barely received the coveted school certificate, he rushed as fast as he could to submit documents to the famous “Pike” - the Boris Shchukin Theater Institute in Moscow. He was lucky to get into the workshop of Valentina Petrovna Nikolaenko. Anyone who has watched “Wedding in Malinovka” will easily recognize her in the main lyrical heroine of the film – Yarinka.
Valentina Petrovna considered Kostya one of her best students, and her colleagues agreed with her: Davydov was recognized as the best in his graduation. Nikolaenko released the course in 2012.
Student actors do not write dissertations; teachers assess their level of professional suitability based on their final performance. Konstantin Davydov’s course took aim at A.P. Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” and received a standing ovation from the teachers. Konstantin played Baron Tuzenbach so reliably that he was awarded a diploma “For the best performance of the role” at the IV APART theater festival.
TV series "Shameless"
The comedy drama began airing on September 24, 2020. The serial film with Konstantin Davydov is a Russian remake of the British film Shameless, which quickly won the love of the people of the United Kingdom and won the prestigious BAFTA award.
Among the actors who were lucky enough to play key characters was Konstantin Davydov. Phil Gruzdev became his hero. The Russian version of Shameless was directed by Arthur Meer, and the series was produced by Yellow, Black and White.
Movies
Kostya Davydov managed to act in parallel with his studies in “Pike”. At the age of 17, he played his namesake Kostya Khokhlov in the detective series Law & Order: Criminal Intent; at 19 he worked with Maxim Averin in the series “Capercaillie. Continuation”, where he played the role of “nerd” Yura; at 22 he became Carlos in the detective series “Beekeeper”; and at 24 he began acting in two TV series at once.
In “Turkish Transit” Davydov played Denis, and in the incredibly popular mystical serial among teenagers “Chernobyl. Exclusion Zone" he got the role of the main character - Pasha Vershinin.
According to the plot of the series, the hero of Konstantin Davydov, Pasha Vershinin, and four of his friends, in pursuit of a thief who sped off on a motorcycle with a large sum of money, find themselves in the exclusion zone - in the “dead” city of Pripyat. Its residents abandoned their houses along with their property and fled away from radiation contamination after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
In addition to Konstantin Davydov, 30 other young actors applied for the role of Pasha Vershinin. The casting was difficult, but Kostya didn’t think about it: he simply fulfilled the director’s tasks, giving his all. When the guy found out that he was approved, he realized: this is a real professional victory, the beginning of difficult work, including on himself.
Series “Chernobyl. Exclusion Zone" is a difficult job for young actors, if only because they do not delegate many dangerous stunts to stuntmen, but perform them themselves. This requires not only good physical preparation, but also the ability to overcome oneself and one’s own fears.
In real life, Konstantin was very nervous, sitting not only behind the wheel, but even in the passenger seat of a car - this was due to an accident he once got into. And according to the script of the series, he had to perform complex stunts in the car. Training with stuntmen helped me overcome my fear. As a result, the actor did an excellent job with the task set by the director.
The young artist was even more afraid of heights than of cars. But one day the hero of Constantine had to climb onto a 30-meter Ferris wheel. He had to get to the very top, and then bring down the heroine of actress Christina Kazinskaya, Anya. Kostya Davydov played the entire episode himself, without changing with the stuntman. It was a real professional feat.
Sometimes unpredictable weather interfered with the filming process: in the heat, the actors had to wear down jackets, and in the icy wind, on the contrary, they walked around naked, as if they were hot. But the viewer is unlikely to notice all these production difficulties, because they remain behind the scenes.
The fame of the series about the exclusion zone overshadowed the artist’s other works, which he delighted fans with in 2014. This is the leading image in the youth comedy "Nerds". The film is about young students, not suited for military service, who end up in a cyber unit. Soon, Davydov’s filmography included minor roles in the medical series “Practice” and the film “Moscow. Three stations."
In 2020, the actor expanded his repertoire with an episode in the drama “The Green Carriage” with Andrei Merzlikin in the title role. The film, directed by Oleg Asadulin, started at the Vladimir Cherry Film Festival, where it received warm reviews from viewers and critics. But all these works did not bring the artist proper professional satisfaction.
In 2020, in an interview, Konstantin announced that he was ending his film career. He considers himself an actor of one role, so he plans to begin a new period in his creative biography. The artist is passionate about music and believes that he has more prospects in the musical field than in cinema.
Nevertheless, Davydov continued to work on subsequent seasons of Chernobyl, the second of which was created abroad - in Latvia and the USA. According to the plot of the film, the USSR did not collapse, but became the leading state in the world. The painting was created using retro stylistics, which added to its unusualness.
An equally striking premiere of the year was the release of the series “Shameless,” which was shown on the NTV channel. In the film, Konstantin got one of the main roles. He is the eldest son of the main character Gosha Gruzdev (Alexey Shevchenkov), who is raising six children alone. The television series also starred Galina Petrova, Andrey Chadov, Dmitry Belotserkovsky, Yana Enzhaeva.

Personal life
