The actor became famous thanks to the costume film “Midshipmen Forward”; later the blonde consolidated his popularity with new projects.
One of the most sought-after artists of Soviet cinema is Dmitry Vadimovich Kharatyan. His creative biography began at the age of sixteen, and continues to this day.
His filmography includes about a hundred films and a large number of theatrical productions. He worked with many famous directors of the country, among them such masters as:
- Leonid Gaidai;
- Svetlana Druzhinina;
- Vladimir Menshov;
- Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich.
The characters he played are distinguished by their courage, charm and enthusiasm. The images created by Kharatyan are quickly remembered and remain forever in the hearts of television viewers.
Origin
The biography of the people's artist began in Uzbekistan, in a city called Almalyk. It was there that Dmitry Kharatyan was born on January 21, 1960. He grew up in an ordinary average family.
His father Vadim Mikhailovich Kharatyan held a teaching position at one of the city’s technical universities. In addition, he was a Ph.D. Mother Svetlana Olegovna Kharatyan (nee Tizenko) worked as a civil engineer. She also served for a long time on the city council of deputies of the Moscow region for the city of Krasnogorsk.
Many people are interested in who the nationality of the actor is, but everything is unclear here; different genes are mixed in the blood of a national artist. There are Armenians in my father’s family, Dmitry is very proud of this fact.
Kharatyan’s pedigree deserves special attention; his paternal great-grandfather was the owner of a trading house in Meghri. And my maternal ancestors were famous nobles. There was a Russian navigator in his family; he is listed in the Russian America encyclopedia. Information about the navigator Stepan Gomzyakov is on the Wikipedia website. There you can also see photos of the artist’s parents.
Biography and personal life of Dmitry Kharatyan
The biography and personal life of Dmitry Kharatyan began a long time ago, but still attracts attention.
Father - Vadim Kharatyan - was a candidate of technical sciences and taught at a technical higher education institution all his life.
Mother - Svetlana Tizenko - engineer, builder, respected person and deputy of the Krasnogorsk Council.
At the age of one, the boy was transported from Uzbek Almalyk to Lipetsk, but from there a couple of years later they moved again to Krasnogorsk near Moscow. The boy was an enthusiastic child, he studied in the football and hockey sections, at a music school and led his own VIA.
Dima constantly received signs, for example, at the age of five, a TV fell on the boy, and at a summer camp the counselor told a twelve-year-old boy not to forget her when he becomes a famous actor.
Childhood and youth of the actor
The future People's Artist spent the first years of his life in the city of Lipetsk; the boy's parents moved there when he was one year old. Later, the family moved to permanent residence in the Moscow region in the city of Krasnogorsk; the father was able to find a small room in a communal apartment.
But life in the new place did not work out; immediately after the move, the father left the family. The upbringing and maintenance of her son fell on the shoulders of Svetlana Olegovna.
As the artist’s mother recalls, in his youth Dmitry was a very modest and shy boy. He loved sports, played football, and planned to play professional hockey. True, the young man was not accepted into the local team due to his poor physical shape.
The young man had a special passion for music; he learned to play the guitar and took part in a vocal club. At the age of thirteen, Dmitry was already the leader of a children's musical ensemble called “Argonauts”.
In the 10th grade he made his cinematic debut, after which Kharatyan became the main celebrity of the school. Fans literally attacked the handsome blond, although he himself was indifferent to his fame and did not even think about an acting career.
Dmitry saw himself as a doctor, he planned to continue the dynasty, treat people, as his uncle did. The young man failed to enter medical school because he did not have enough knowledge. It was then that Kharatyan found himself on the threshold of the Shchukin School, but even here failure awaited him.
The next year, having thoroughly prepared, Dmitry tried his hand at the M. S. Shchepkin Theater School. He passed the entrance exams perfectly and was enrolled. Kharatyan was trained by Mikhail Tsarev and Rimma Solntseva.
Documentaries
But what is hidden behind this image of a lucky man? What lengths did the actor have to go to achieve all this? How did Kharatyan manage to preserve himself and - despite all the trials - remain an optimist, a lover of life and a romantic?
The actor does not hide: in his youth he was very unsure of himself. This did not go away even when he became famous throughout the country after the release of the film “The Hoax.” Kharatyan was only 17 years old then, he was in 10th grade... Director Vladimir Menshov will tell us how he approved Dima for the main role. We ask the star's parents how their son coped with the popularity that befell him. And together with Dmitry’s longtime friend we will visit the house where the actor spent his childhood. The entire entrance was covered with declarations of love for Dima!
Kharatyan came to music even earlier than to cinema - already at the age of 13 he led the Argonauts ensemble. It became an opportunity for him to escape from family problems - when Dima entered first grade, his parents divorced. For the boy, this became a serious psychological trauma and greatly affected his studies. We visited the anniversary at the Krasnogorsk school, where Kharatyan studied. We also talked with Dima’s classmates and, especially for our film, Kharatyan assembled his school ensemble in his home studio. They played together again like they once did!
After the “Raffle,” Dima tried to enter the Shchukin School, but failed the exams and, instead of studying, went on a geological expedition to Kyzylkum for several months. Having returned, he began to prepare for admission to the theater school. Shchepkina. He entered only after he starred in another movie: director Anatoly Vasiliev called the young actor for a serious dramatic role in the film “Photographs on the Wall.” We attended an evening dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the release of this film and recorded an interview with Anatoly Isaakovich. They also filmed an exclusive: a skit party in “Sliver”, in which Kharatyan happily has fun with today’s students.
In his first year at the institute, he met Marina Burimova, who later became his wife. She was five years older. Their marriage was not successful, Dima’s mother had difficulty accepting her daughter-in-law - they all lived in a one-room apartment. In 1984, the couple had a daughter, Sasha: on the same day as her father, January 21! However, this did not save the marriage: when Sasha was little, her parents divorced. We managed to interview Alexandra Kharatyan - today she lives in Sweden. Maybe fate wanted it that way - after all, Dmitry met his true love later. And it was this woman who became his guardian angel.
After the release of the film “Midshipmen, Forward!” fans went crazy over Kharatyan, some were going to name the child in his honor, others claimed that they were pregnant from him. Kharatyan admits: he got into the film by accident, during the filming he almost died under the hooves of a horse and even wanted to leave the film. But in the end, it was the role of Alyoshka Korsak that became the main one in his life, and Dmitry recently starred in the film “Midshipmen - IV”. By the will of fate, this happened or Kharatyan ideally “fell into the character” - let’s ask the director of “Midshipmen” Svetlana Druzhinina and her husband, cameraman Anatoly Mukasey.
The second wave of popularity almost led Dmitry to complete failure - the actor became seriously dependent on alcohol. He drank heavily before. I coded, relapsed, struggled with addiction again and seemed to have won... But during this period everything turned out to be more serious. Dmitry risked losing not only his family and job, but even his life - he drove drunk more than once and got into accidents. His second wife, Marina Maiko, helped him get out of the abyss.
They met when Dima was “in a bind” and, faced with such a situation, Marina at first simply did not understand what was happening. Of course, as a loving and devoted girl, she helped Dima’s parents bring him to his senses, treat him, supported him along the way...
In our film, Dmitry himself and his wife Marina will talk about this difficult period and their experiences. We filmed Kharatyan with his family in his country house. There is no alcohol in this house: Dima understands perfectly well that everything can come back. And this is precisely his insurance against a possible mistake. Kharatyan speaks openly about his illness. He believes that if his example helps at least someone to quit a bad habit and take life into their own hands, then his mission is accomplished.
Dmitry has not been drinking or smoking for a long time and is involved in social activities - together with his wife he opened a children’s acting “School of Midshipmen” in his native Krasnogorsk. We filmed the actor during classes with children.
Kharatyan admits that he is not afraid of aging - perhaps because over the years he has managed to overcome all his fears and weaknesses. He is not ashamed of the mistakes he has made, admits them like a man and is proud of who he is: a midshipman, a wonderful husband and father. Having overcome all crises, Dmitry Kharatyan confidently moves forward.
Creative career of an actor
At the age of seventeen, Dmitry Kharatyan first received an offer to participate in the filming process, moreover, they were called to play the main role in the film “The Hoax.” The young man got to the casting completely by accident; he accompanied his friend Tatyana, who passionately dreamed of becoming an actress.
Already in the corridor, director Vladimir Menshov drew attention to the spectacular blond, and thus Kharatyan’s cinematic debut took place. The film crew included many movie stars, among them were:
- Natalya Vavilova;
- Zinovy Gerdt;
- Natalya Fateeva;
- Oleg Tabakov.
But the star company did not bother Dmitry; he coped well with the role of high school student Igor Grushko. He was able to convey the strength of character of his hero, despite the fact that the aspiring artist had absolutely no acting experience.
Work in the theater
Kharatyan’s theatrical career began in the 90s; he appeared on the stage of the Mossovet Theater when he was 35 years old. The debut performance was a production called “Of Mice and Men,” directed by Elena Surzhikova.
The following enterprises with his participation were:
- "Nina";
- "The experience of mastering the play The Seagull."
Dmitry did not stop at one theater, he collaborated with many others, including Lenkom, the theater of nations.
In 2002, he became an actor at the Vakhtangov Theater, where he played in a sensational play called “Halam-bundu or Hostages of Love.” A few years later, he appeared on this stage again, but in the production of “Jolly Fellows.” Dmitry got the role of the shepherd Kostya Potekhin.
Then there were several more successful performances, among them the following can be noted:
- "Lucky Smith"
- "Millennium";
- "Khanuma".
He is still an active theater artist, but now he chooses his own roles in the theater. Most often, Kharatyan gives preference to musical performances, where he can show not only his acting talent, but also his musical talent.
You can find out when the premieres of performances with Dmitry’s participation take place on social networks in VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. Numerous fans of the midshipman have created fan clubs dedicated to his work and personal life. On the page you can find out information from his biography: what year he was born, where he lives, where he is filming, and what he is doing now.
Music career
During his school years, Dmitry had two hobbies: he played hockey and learned to play the guitar. Due to his fragile physique, the coach refused to enroll him in the hockey team, so singing with a guitar received the palm. His hobby added to Dmitry's popularity at school and contributed to him getting his first film role.
In addition to compositions from feature films, at creative evenings he sings songs of bards, romances and works from the repertoire of The Beatles. In the television programs that he hosts or where he acts as a participant, Dmitry certainly performs several comic verses or a new song. In the mid-90s, simultaneously with the start of work in the theater, he recorded the discs: “Tendency to Rain” and “Hello, if you are far away...”.
Roles in films and TV series
Dmitry began acting actively while still a first-year student. In 1978, his second film premiered. It was the melodrama "Photos on the Wall." Several more cinematic projects followed, among them the following can be noted:
- "Fox Hunt";
- "School";
- "Bus driver";
- "Breath of the Storm"
In the film “People in the Swamp” directed by Viktor Turov, Kharatyan first appeared in the image of a negative hero. His work was appreciated not only by viewers, but also by film critics. Many noted that Dmitry manages to look harmonious both in the role of a romantic and in the role of a villain.
After receiving a diploma from “Sliver”, the aspiring artist was invited to work in the 2-part film “Green Van”. In this film, the actor was again entrusted with the main role. Then the artist’s filmography was replenished with several more roles, several films with the actor were released:
- "Feat of Odessa";
- "Eight Days of Hope";
- "Mysterious Prisoner";
- "At the edge of the sword."
At the age of 24, Dmitry went to pay tribute to his homeland, so his creative biography was interrupted during his service.
Real success and popular love came to the artist after the premiere of an adventure film called “Midshipmen, Forward!” Dmitry appeared in the image of Alyosha Korsak, the favorite of all Soviet women. Other movie stars also worked on the feature film:
- Mikhail Boyarsky;
- Sergey Zhigunov;
- Alexander Abdulov;
- Innokenty Smoktunovsky.
It was this 3-episode film that became a landmark in his career; it was no longer possible to repeat the same resounding success. The image of Korsak is forever associated with the artist; it has become his calling card.
In 1989, the premiere of the crime comedy “Private Detective, or Operation Cooperation” took place, based on the script by Arkady Inin. This time Dmitry was lucky enough to work on the same set with such famous artists as:
- Roman Madyanov;
- Irina Feofanova;
- Leonid Yarmolnik;
- Spartak Mishutin.
Even in the harsh 90s for cinema, Kharatyan acted in films, although many Soviet actors remained out of work.
His filmography was replenished with several successful films:
- "Face";
- “Vivat, midshipmen”;
- "Black square";
- "Hearts of Three"
1993 was also a very successful year; he was involved in the filming of the historical film “The Mystery of Queen Anne, or the Musketeers 30 Years Later.” He played two heroes at once: the king of France, as well as his twin brother. The director gathered a galaxy of stars on the set:
- Mikhail Boyarsky;
- Alisa Freindlich;
- Veniamina Smekhova;
- Igor Starygin.
The new story had no less effect; more than half the country's population saw the film. The work of the actors, chic scenery and luxurious costumes left no one indifferent.
Then the crime series “Kamenskaya” appeared on television screens. This time he was able to transform into the brother of the main character.
At the turn of the 2000s, the famous actor was given exclusively negative characters; the premieres of several serial films with his participation took place:
- "Moroseyka-12";
- "Moscow Saga";
- “Secrets of palace coups.
It is worth noting the comedy “Super Mother-in-Law for a Loser” - this is one of the most striking works of the people’s artist. The following worked on the film with Dmitry:
- Julia Beretta;
- Larisa Isaeva;
- Mikhail Efremov.
Due to the amazing acting, the feature film received good reviews from viewers and approval from film critics. The audience had a good laugh at the charming characters.
Filmography
Dmitry Kharatyan starred in films familiar to many of us from childhood. Millions of TV viewers immediately fell in love with the blond handsome man. Now it is difficult to list even the most memorable and significant roles that the actor played throughout his career. Popularity began to grow after Kharatyan appeared on screens in the film “The Green Van.”
But the real sensation occurred only after the release of the film “Midshipmen, Forward!”, which made more than one actor famous. Even in the 1990s, Dmitry did not complain about the shortage of roles. During this period, the second equally popular film “Viva, midshipmen!”, “Black Square”, “The weather is good on Deribasovskaya, or it’s raining again on Brighton Beach” was released.
Currently, Dmitry Kharatyan is engaged not only in filming TV series, but also writes songs and is engaged in producing activities. Fans get the impression that age has no power over this artist. There have been no significant changes in his appearance for a long time. Some are even inclined to argue that it is just plastic surgery. There was no official confirmation of this information, nor any refutations.
The latest news tells us that Dmitry Kharatyan does not allow himself to rest for a minute and continues to work hard. He not only appeared in the melodrama Midshipmen 1787, but also began dubbing the American cartoon Cars. New premieres with his participation will certainly be released in 2020. Kharatyan’s photos are also featured on theater posters.

By the end of theater school, Dmitry had acquired an army of fans and was in great demand among directors. A big plus was the lack of work in the theater, since representatives of not every film studio agreed to adapt to the schedule of the actors’ performances on stage.
In life, the young man was the life of the party, loved meeting with friends and invariably played his favorite songs on the guitar. His talent as a singer first appeared in the film “The Hoax,” and later composers often wrote musical themes for films especially for him.
"Raffle"
The role of high school student Igor Grushko in the film “The Hoax,” which raised school problems, was easy for him. Dmitry studied in the 10th grade and mostly portrayed himself, caught in the center of a conflict between students and the teacher. Soon it turned into a confrontation between Grushko and class leader Oleg Komarovsky.
Most of the female audience sympathized with Kharatyan’s positive hero and remembered the artist for this role before his triumph as Alyosha Korsak in “Midshipmen.” In 2008, director Andrei Kundinenko shot a remake of the film, where Kharatyan played the father of the unprincipled Oleg.
"Green Van"
The events of the film take place in Odessa in the 20s. The young policeman Patrikeev, played by Dmitry Kharatyan, enthusiastically eradicates crime in the city. He is uncompromising and completely devoted to revolutionary ideals.
In addition to the participation of famous actors Demyanenko and Brondukov, the film was remembered for the music of Maxim Dunaevsky. A dynamically developing crime plot with elements of comedy brought the film popularity.
In 1987, director Svetlana Druzhinina released the film “Midshipmen: Forward!”, and 3 friends from the naval school won the love of television viewers.
Dmitry Kharatyan, Vladimir Shevelkov and Sergei Zhigunov overnight became idols of youth and the most “fashionable” actors of those years. Their heroes were both lyrical and patriotic.
Kharatyan, along with Mikhail Boyarsky, performed songs in this historical mini-series. It is curious that there were indeed midshipmen in his maternal family!
The first film of the trilogy turned out to be the most successful. Druzhinina appreciated Dmitry's non-conflict nature and his responsible attitude towards filming. He is the only one of the artists who played the main roles in the first film; he starred in all parts of Midshipmen, and then in another series directed by the director, Secrets of Palace Coups.
A funny film by Leonid Gaidai, shot in the early 90s on the topic of the day, is still interesting to watch 25 years later. The role of detective Dmitry Puzyrev, fighting the kidnapper of cooperators, is another great success for Kharatyan.
Although the famous Alexander Belyavsky and Spartak Mishulin were involved in the film, it is the character of Dmitry Kharatyan that is key in the story with disguises and kidnappings. Many people went to the cinema to see this film again and again because it is very funny and creates a joyful mood.
Gaidai’s second comedy with Kharatyan, “The weather is good on Deribasovskaya, or It’s raining again on Brighton Beach,” is also not bad, but it does not reach the universal recognition of “Private Detective...”.
Other paintings
Dmitry's famous works were his roles in historical series by Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich and Alexander Muratov based on the novels of A. Dumas. For the latter, Kharatyan played Count la Molle in Queen Margot, and his friend was played by Sergei Zhigunov. After the tape “Midshipmen, forward!” on-screen friends often met in new projects, for example, in the film “Hearts of Three-2.”
The actor appeared as a guest star in many TV series: “Happy Together”, “Balzac Age...”, “Kamenskaya”, “Viola Tarakanova...”. In another project based on the works of Daria Dontsova “Ivan Podushkin. Gentleman of the Detective" he played the main role.
Kharatyan's filmography consists of more than 90 films, and he continues to actively act in film. The actor prefers crime comedies, and this genre has many fans.
Songs
Music occupies a special place of honor in the actor’s heart. He enjoys participating in musical performances and musicals. As a performer of songs, Dmitry tried himself in the film “Green Van”: he sang two compositions at once:
- "Twentieth Year";
- “Where are you, July?”
Later he performed songs in Midshipmen. Kharatyan did not stop there; he recorded several music CDs, which included selected songs, among them are:
- "The Ballad of the First Rain";
- "Two lines of fate";
- "Duty for April";
- "School Waltz"
The artist’s discography is replenished every year. He often gives solo concerts, at which he performs songs of other famous pop singers, namely:
- Bulat Okudzhava;
- Andrey Makarevich;
- Vladimir Vysotsky.
Many people liked his duet with Russian actress Ekaterina Volkova. They recorded a joint track called “Love Song.”
Personal life and family of the actor
On the personal front, everything turned out well for the famous actor. Dmitry has always been popular with the fair half, this was facilitated by his appearance: blond hair, a wonderful figure, with a height of 176 cm, he weighs only 74 kg.
The first wife, Marina Vladimirovna Kharatyan, is also from an acting background. The young people met while studying at the Shchepkinsky School. The lovers almost immediately began to live together, and a year later they submitted an application to the registry office.
In an interview, the actor admitted that the decision to sign was a mistake, both on his part and on hers. He wanted to help the girl, the young couple was given an apartment, and Marina needed Moscow registration.
In the winter of 1984, their daughter Alexandra Dmitrievna Kharatyan was born, but the midshipman was never able to become her real father. Soon the couple filed for divorce, Marina made the decision to separate; at that time Dmitry often drank, the woman did not want to tolerate his drinking.
The actor met his second wife Marina Vladimirovna Maiko on the set of the comedy film “Operation Cooperation.” This time, Kharatyan was in no hurry to lead his chosen one down the aisle; they lived in a civil marriage for 7 years. Dmitry proposed only when he found out that Marina was pregnant. Soon their common son, Ivan Dmitrievich Kharatyan, was born.
The heir continued the acting dynasty; he starred in several feature films. My daughter emigrated and married a Swiss.
On Instagram you can find photos with his family, with Dmitry Kharatyan’s children. There you can also find out what year the children were born, what year the actor’s spouse was born. See photos of what the artist himself looks like now.
Dmitry Kharatyan's ex-wife - Marina Burimova
Dmitry Kharatyan’s ex-wife, Marina Burimova, was born in the same year as the hero of our article today. Their acquaintance took place within the walls of the educational institution where they studied together - the Theater School named after. Shchepkina.
Unfortunately, their marriage did not last long, and after several years of marriage they separated in 1988. As Dmitry recalls, from the first days after the wedding it became clear that the spouses had different views on life, due to which they would not have a long marriage.
Actor awards and titles
As for recognition, the famous blond has a huge number of various awards; his treasury of achievements is literally bursting with awards. Dmitry received his first honorary title back in 2000, he became an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. The award was presented to the midshipman by the president of the country.
Six years later, the Chechen Republic, led by Ramzan Kadyrov, also recognized it as deserved. And in 2007, Kharatyan received the People’s title for his great contribution to the field of art.
In addition, Dmitry was repeatedly recognized as the best actor. In 1990, he received an award for a film called “Private Detective, or Operation Cooperation.”
In 2012, he became a laureate of the Amur Autumn film festival, which was held in the city of Blagoveshchensk. He won the “Best Actor” category.
During the same period, Kharatyan was awarded a prize at the “Musical Heart of the Theater” award. A duet with the famous performer Larisa Dolina helped to receive the award; their joint composition, performed in the acclaimed musical “Mata Hari: Love and Espionage,” was recognized as the best.
