Christy Brown
(eng.
Christy Brown
; June 5, 1932 (19320605) - September 7, 1981) - Irish writer and artist, born with cerebral palsy and had the ability to write and draw only with the toes of one foot.
The most recognized of his works is his autobiography, entitled My Left Foot
, which was filmed in 1989 (Oscar Award).
Biography
Christy Brown was born into a family of Irish workers at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin in June 1932. After his birth, doctors diagnosed the child with a severe form of cerebral palsy, a neurological disease that causes spasticity in all limbs. Despite the doctors' advice to place him in an appropriate rehabilitation institution, Christy's parents decided not to be influenced and raise their child on their own along with the rest of their children. As a teenager, social worker Katriona Delahunt learned about Christy and began visiting his family regularly, bringing him books and paints. Over the years, Christie developed an interest in the arts and literature. He showed extraordinary dexterity in controlling his paralyzed limbs, learning to write and draw with his left leg, which was under his control.[1] Christie quickly became a serious artist.
Despite having no formal schooling, Christy Brown attended St Brendan's Sandymount School intermittently, where over the years he met Dr Robert Collis. Collis noted that Christie was also a novelist and later helped him, through his own connections, publish the book My Left Foot.
When My Left Foot became a literary sensation, among the many people who wrote letters to Christy Brown was married American Beth Moore. Christy and Beth began corresponding regularly and in 1960 Christy Brown went on vacation to North America and stayed at Beth Moore's home in Connecticut.[2] When they met again in 1965, they opened a business. Christy Brown went to Connecticut again to finish his Magnum opus, which he had been working on for years. And he finished in 1967 with the help of Beth Moore, thanks to a strict regime and daily routine.[3] The book was called "Always Down" and published in 1970, dedicated to Beth Moore with the words "For Beth, who with such gentle ferocity, finally whipped me into finishing this book..."[4] For all this Over time, fame spread and Brown became a celebrity. Upon returning to Ireland, Brown saved enough money to build and move with his sister's family into a house outside Dublin.[5] Although Brown and Beth planned to marry and live in a new house, at the same time Brown began an affair with Englishwoman Mary Carr, whom he met while visiting London.[6] Brown broke off his relationship with Moore and married Carr at Dublin Register Office in 1972. They moved to Stoney Lane, Rathcoole, County Dublin (now Lisheen Nursing Home), to Ballyheigue' Kerry and then to Somerset. He continued to paint pictures and books, compose poems and plays. His novel A Shadow on Summer
), based on his relationship with Moore, with whom he continued a friendly relationship.[7]

Excerpt characterizing Brown, Christie
One could probably say that we have already seen a lot here, on the “floors”... But even we were not able to imagine this in our most terrible nightmare!.. Behind the “black rock” something completely unthinkable was revealed... It looked like a huge, flat “cauldron” knocked out of the rock, at the bottom of which crimson “lava” was bubbling... The hot air “burst” everywhere with strange flashing reddish bubbles, from which scalding steam burst out and fell in large drops on the ground, or on those caught at that moment there were people under him... Heartbreaking screams were heard, but immediately fell silent, because on the backs of the same people sat the most disgusting creatures, who with a satisfied look “controlled” their victims, not paying the slightest attention to their suffering... Under the naked feet of people the red-hot stones turned red, the crimson earth, bursting with heat, bubbled and “melted”... Splashes of hot steam burst through huge cracks and, burning the feet of human beings sobbing in pain, flew into the heights, evaporating with a light smoke... And in the very middle of the “pit” flowed bright red, a wide fiery river, into which, from time to time, the same disgusting monsters unexpectedly threw one or another tormented entity, which, falling, caused only a short splash of orange sparks, and then, turning for a moment into a fluffy white cloud, disappeared... forever ... It was real Hell, and Stella and I wanted to “disappear” from there as soon as possible... – What are we going to do?.. – Stella whispered in quiet horror. - Do you want to go down there? Is there anything we can do to help them? Look how many of them!.. We stood on a black-brown, heat-dried cliff, watching the horror-filled “mash” of pain, hopelessness, and violence stretching below, and we felt so childishly powerless that even my warlike Stella This time, I categorically folded my ruffled “wings” and was ready, at the first call, to rush off to my own, so dear and reliable, top “floor”... And then I remembered that Maria seemed to be talking to these, so cruelly fate (or themselves ) punished, people... - Tell me, please, how did you get down there? – I asked, puzzled. “Dean carried me,” Maria calmly answered, as a matter of course. – What so terrible did these poor fellows do that they ended up in such hell? – I asked. “I think this concerns not so much their misdeeds as the fact that they were very strong and had a lot of energy, and this is exactly what these monsters need, since they “feed” on these unfortunate people,” the little girl explained in a very adult way. “What?!..” we almost jumped. – It turns out that they just “eat” them? – Unfortunately, yes... When we went there, I saw... A pure silver stream flowed out of these poor people and directly filled the monsters sitting on their backs. And they immediately came to life and became very happy. Some human beings, after this, almost couldn’t walk... It’s so scary... And nothing can be done... Dean says there are too many of them even for him. “Yeah... It’s unlikely that we can do anything either...” Stella whispered sadly. It was very hard to just turn around and leave. But we understood perfectly well that at the moment we were completely powerless, and just watching such a terrible “spectacle” did not give anyone the slightest pleasure. Therefore, having once again looked at this terrifying Hell, we unanimously turned in the other direction... I cannot say that my human pride was not wounded, since I never liked to lose. But I also long ago learned to accept reality as it was, and not to complain about my helplessness if I was not yet able to help in some situation. – Can I ask you where you girls are heading now? – asked the saddened Maria. “I would like to go upstairs... To be honest, the “lower floor” is quite enough for me today... It would be advisable to see something easier... - I said, and immediately thought about Maria - poor girl, she’s staying here!.. And no Unfortunately, we could not offer her help, since it was her choice and her own decision, which only she herself could change... In front of us, already well-known vortexes of silvery energies flickered, and as if “wrapped” in them in a dense , fluffy “cocoon”, we smoothly slipped “up”...
Christina Brown - Whitney Houston's "difficult" daughter
When your dearest, closest person—your mother—passes away, it’s probably pure hell. And it’s doubly hard when, at such difficult moments, complete strangers try to get into your life, for whom someone else’s misfortune is just an informational reason. I have not been in such a situation, but I can imagine what 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of the late Whitney Houston, feels now: the pain of realizing that nothing can be returned, and a wild desire to be left alone.
But it doesn’t work out: after Houston’s death, her daughter became the No. 1 object of interest for journalists, since after her mother’s death she was taken to the hospital with a mental disorder. The interest of the press in Bobbi Kristina's person is largely explained by the fact that at one time she had a very difficult relationship with Whitney.
So let's get to know this girl. Christina "Bobby" Brown (called Bobbie by friends and family), 18, daughter of Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown (who introduced Whitney to drugs). The daughter probably adopted her father’s character: during Houston and Brown’s divorce, she became ostentatious and moved out from her mother to her friend (at the age of 14!). This was the first time the yellow press became interested in Christina.
They wrote different things, sometimes things you couldn’t even wrap your head around: they say, Whitney is a tyrannical mother, she beat her daughter and she ran away from her. In an interview, Whitney herself admitted that at times she was not the best mother, but said that she loved her daughter and wished only the best for her. In 2007, Brown tried to gain custody of Christina, arguing that his ex-wife had become a drug addict and could not raise her daughter. But he did not come to the last court hearing - Christina stayed with Whitney. True, the relationship between mother and daughter has become cool since then.
2002 Whitney, Bobby Brown and Christina
In 2010, Christina’s ex-boyfriend gave an extensive interview to one of the yellow tabloids, where he colorfully spoke about his relationship with the star’s daughter. According to him, Christina, like her mother, had problems with alcohol and drugs. The guy said that at all the parties they went to, Christina smoked weed and became uncontrollable. This guy said that it was all Whitney's fault because she set such an example for her daughter.
One can imagine what a blow this interview was for Houston, who at that time was trying hard to restore her former glory. She succeeded - the singer received the BET Awards, re-released the album... Then Christina began to appear in public with her mother. They looked like cheerful little people who loved each other. Whitney's fans couldn't be happier: the daughter and mother understood each other, and Bobby Brown, who at times annoyed the singer, also calmed down and seemed to be trying to improve relations with his ex. But it all ended suddenly and tragically

Let's hope that the girl will find the strength to survive the tragedy, not to break down and not get hooked on weed and other rubbish again
