(according to passport -
Bourt
[1][2]; November 24, 1987, Moscow) - Russian television journalist, VGTRK's own correspondent in Belgium, head of the representative office in Brussels [3].
She gained fame for a series of reports from warring Syria and the documentary film “Syrian Diary”. In 2012, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, she was awarded the medal “For Courage”[4].
Personal life
On one of her business trips to New York, Anastasia Churkina met journalist and presenter from Russia Evgeniy Popov, which changed her personal life. They began a romantic relationship.
The young people even managed to get married, but their marriage did not last long and the couple separated. Throughout the entire period of their romance, the young people hid their feelings from their colleagues. Many had no idea that their intentions were serious.
Biography of Evgeny Popov
The famous correspondent Evgeny Popov is from Vladivostok. He was born in 1978. Since school, he worked as a journalist, first on local radio, and after graduating from the Far Eastern University in 2000, on the country's central channels.
On the “Special Correspondent” project, Popov participated in discussions of sensitive political topics
Evgeniy spent his time as a student working on various local TV channels and participated in the most popular projects. Immediately after graduating from university, Evgeniy was accepted into the Vesti team in his hometown. But he was attracted by new career horizons and opportunities, and Popov moved to the capital.
During the revolutionary events in Ukraine, Evgeny Popov was sent to the epicenter of the confrontation as a corresponding member from the Rossiya channel. Two years later, the journalist returned to the capital as a columnist for Vesti Nedeli, where he was in charge of political topics.
A couple of years later, the director of information content for the Rossiya channel in the USA, Yulia Rakeeva, invited the correspondent to join their team in New York. During the infamous events on the Kiev Maidan in 2013, Popov served as a columnist for Vesti. One of his colleagues was Anton Voloshin, who died tragically during revolutionary unrest a year later.
During the same period, Evgeniy Georgievich was invited as a host to the program “Time 23:00” to replace previous observers. Until 2020, Maxim Kiselev was his production partner at VGTRK. In parallel with this work, Popov created original reports for other political programs. Evgeniy was invited to temporarily replace the presenters of Vesti on weekdays and Sundays.
The beginning of autumn 2020 was marked for Evgeny by the release of the author’s program “60 Minutes,” which he hosted together with Olga Skabeeva, his second wife. The project gained enormous popularity and became one of the most prominent political shows on Russian television.
Divorce
The romantic marriage of young people, concluded in America, turned out to be short-lived. The romance ended as quickly as it began. And in 2012, Evgeniy and Anastasia divorced before they had time to have children. The fact that the young people were officially married became known only after their divorce.
They did not talk about the reasons for the separation, and ignored any rumors about the relationship.

Anastasia came to fame in 2012, when she spent a total of 8 months in Syria and regularly conducted television reports and live broadcasts from the “hot spots” of the civil war-torn country[6]. Subsequently, a group of UN chemical weapons inspectors in Syria used in their investigation video footage filmed by Popova’s group at the site of a chemical attack in Khan al-Asal[7]. Popova’s fearlessness was noted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov[8]. On September 14, 2012, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin No. 1288, Anastasia Bourt was awarded the medal “For Courage”[9], on December 9 this decree was first reported in the media[4][10], on December 26 the award was presented to the journalist, as well as to her members film crew - cameraman and assistant director[11]. Anastasia Churkina now
To this day, the heiress of the Russian diplomat works on the staff of the Russia Today channel. Many of the journalist’s Western colleagues accuse her of biased judgments regarding the activities of her father, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN.
To this day, Anastasia Churkina is doing what she loves
However, Anastasia does not participate in provocations and continues to do her job, demonstrating high professionalism. Churkin the father strictly responded to the attacks of Western journalists, claiming that his daughter successfully distinguishes between family and work relationships, and is building a career without involving connections.
Meeting in America
The first wife of Evgeny Popov was Anastasia Churkina, a journalist for the Russia Today channel. They met in New York at the UN building. Anastasia was from Moscow. Her father Vitaly Churkin was an influential diplomat who represented Russian interests at the UN.
We can say that Anastasia almost followed in the footsteps of her influential father. At school, her parents paid a lot of attention to their daughter’s learning of foreign languages. After graduating from school, the girl entered MGIMO without any particular difficulties. It was at this university that Vitaly Churkin studied. Immediately after graduation, the girl went to work in America.
There she met with Yevgeny Popov. The young people did not hide their feelings and relationships. They could often be seen at a table in a cafe during lunch break. They talked sweetly and looked at each other tenderly.
Evgeny Popov today
Currently, Evgeniy continues to film with his wife on the “60 Minutes” project, while simultaneously filming his own documentaries “Kiev Sich”, “Media Literacy”, which are politically oriented and describe to the reader modern methods of waging information warfare.
In the period 2018-2019, I managed to report from the Russian football championship, made a high-quality story about Ukrainian sailors who violated the maritime border and were detained, and also attended the meeting between Putin and Trump.
Many people are interested in the presenter's salary. First of all, it depends on the amount of airtime; Evgeniy appears on the channel almost every day, therefore, he has decent earnings. We do not risk giving the exact amount.
In the article we got acquainted with the biography of Evgeny Popov. The hero of our article is a talented journalist who has spent his whole life working towards his success, managed to work in several corners of the world, loudly declare himself and find his soul mate. Now he continues to delight the viewer with news and his reports on central television.
Biography: childhood and youth
Evgeny is a prominent representative of modern successful journalists, he has achieved enormous success on television, for a long time he was the presenter of a news section on the Russia TV channel, after which he was included in the main cast of the rating project “60 Minutes”, where his colleague was his wife and the love of his life.
It was this program that became a goldmine for him and brought him universal fame among viewers. The show is released on a weekday, it has a political focus, and exactly one hour is allocated live to discuss a specific topic or the latest events in the world. Representatives of different parties to the conflict sit in the hall and discuss the current issues. The first episode was a huge success with viewers; the program has been broadcast for more than two years and continues to amaze with scandals.
Few people know that from childhood our hero firmly decided to choose the profession of a journalist and began to take his first steps in an unfavorable atmosphere, during a crisis situation in the country, in the nineties, on the distant shores of Vladivostok. These years tempered the future journalist and helped form a strong character.
Evgeniy Popov in his youth with a friend
At the peak of his career, Evgeniy often visited hot spots and places where the conflict was fully unfolding. He repeatedly traveled to Ukraine and reviewed the Maidan and the overthrow of the government for domestic viewers, reporting directly from the scene of events.
The hero of our article was born in 1978 on September 11 in the distant Primorsky Territory, in the city of Vladivostok. The boy grew up in an intelligent family and did not need anything. When he was very young, his father decided to leave home and filed for divorce from his mother. After which he moved to live permanently in Ukraine, where he laid down his roots. Despite this blow, the boy was not angry with his father and regularly went to visit him as soon as he had free days and school holidays. Dad met him in Odessa and spent warm resort evenings with him.
His mother and grandmother were responsible for raising Eugene; the guy grew up courageous and from an early age tried to take care of his loved ones and lead an independent life. The mother of the future journalist was a philologist by training and held the position of editor in a local print salon. During his school years, Popov showed himself as an active boy and tried to prove himself in all areas. He was often taken to participate in school amateur performances and perform on stage during holidays and creative evenings.
Even then I felt calm on stage. I tried to bring home only positive assessments. Already at the age of thirteen, life gave him a lucky ticket; the young man was invited to the local radio, where he was entrusted with hosting a program for the little ones, “Sacvoyage.”
Later he is expected to be promoted, this time Evgeniy becomes the voice of the news section. The mother was completely delighted and proud of her son, for the fact that he was developing creatively and did not stand in one place, she tried to support her son in every possible way.
His schooling was coming to an end, and at that moment our hero had finally decided on his direction of activity and profession. Successfully passes final exams and receives a certificate. Next, he submits documents for admission to the Far Eastern State University at the Faculty of Journalism, where he is accepted without any problems. At the same time, he was gaining experience on local television, where he received a permanent job as a staff correspondent for the news section.
It should be noted that in the first reports, Evgeniy appeared before the audience not in the best shape. At that time, his nose was broken; a rather large dent was immediately noticeable. In the program “The Fate of a Man,” which he attended with his wife Olga Skobeeva, the presenter showed a photo of Popov at the beginning of his career, to which his wife said with a laugh that she would not have married him in those days. The journalist himself said that the cause of the broken nose was a banal teenage fight. Later, his appearance had to be adjusted and Evgeniy had a normal nose shape.
lead the week
Television is trusted more than other media.
This is because a television journalist does not hide, but signs his own face to the materials, without hiding behind some pseudonyms. Good news for the entire television journalism workshop. Our special correspondent in the Middle East, Anastasia Popova, whose reports in Vesti accompanied the entire Arab Spring, and now the war in Syria, was awarded a rare state award in peacetime - the Medal of Courage. President Putin has already signed the decree. Nastya is in our studio today. “Why do you need this, Nastya? Is there not enough romance, intrigue and even risk in the journalistic work of, say, a gossip reporter? √ asks the host of the “News of the Week” program Dmitry Kiselev.
“You know, I bet. It is still unknown which is more dangerous. Gossip chronicles for the psyche, yes, or war. Well, of course, it's nice to receive an award. But I wasn’t the only one who received it. My entire team, who has always been with me, also received it. This is cameraman Mikhail Vitkin and editor Evgeny Lebedev. Thank them very much. Without them, none of this would have worked out for us. Why am I doing this? You know, you always want to cover any conflict in a balanced way. And what I saw there, the Western media, other journalists, they focus very specifically on the opposition. They cover the activities of the opposition in a very one-sided way. Nobody talks about the other side, the government side. It's as if she doesn't exist. It seems to me that her activities also need to be covered. And let this be just a drop that opposes the whole sea, the information wave that has fallen on Syria. But at least a drop. And someone has to do it,” answers VGTRK special correspondent Anastasia Popova.
“Can you compare your feelings when you first heard the whistle of a bullet and now?” √ asks Dmitry Kiselev.
“The first whistle of a bullet is unforgettable. At first it seems that all this is like in the movies, that this does not happen. That none of this is real. After the first whistle, you understand that everything is real, that people are dying and this is not ketchup, this is real life. And after that you become a little scared for yourself, for your loved ones, you start to think more about your family. You start to think what will happen if, God forbid. But it’s better not to think, but better to do your job clearly,” answers Anastasia Popova.
“Did the fact that you are a woman help or hinder your work as a reporter in a hot spot?” √ asks Dmitry Kiselev.
“You know, in war there is no division between being a woman or not. The first literally five minutes, probably at first, maybe everyone looks wary, oh, the girl has come, but then we also run, they also shoot at us, even at journalists they shoot more and more often. If they see the inscription “press” on the back and if, say, militants see an official visa, then that’s it, we are the main target, we must be destroyed so that we do not cover the activities of the army. But we run exactly the same, jump exactly the same, crawl, get hit by bullets and everything is exactly the same. There is no difference between man and woman. Everyone is equal,” says Anastasia Popova.
“Did you sew up your nose?” √ Dmitry Kiselev is interested.
“The nose was sewn up. There was a hole, three stitches were put in. Thank God, there was no fracture, but everything has already dragged on, and God willing, there will be nothing left,” says Anastasia Popova.
“The militants are already fighting around the airport, how did you fly away?” √ asks Dmitry Kiselev.
“The road to the airport was very difficult. We were warned the day before that the airport was temporarily closed or blocked. We arrived and at the checkpoint we were warned that the road was under fire and was very dangerous. But luckily the driver was apparently experienced, and at that moment snipers started shooting at us. And the driver pressed the gas and drove forward, because at these moments, in fact, you cannot stop, otherwise everything will happen, otherwise you will be shot. I fell on the seat, and the only thought was “when will this end”, because the road is empty, and it is unknown how many there are. This is an open space, this is the exit from the city, almost everything, then there is a straight road, and not a single car. And we were the only car that was moving. But we got through, thank God. And then we got to the airport. There was practically no one at the airport, there was only one flight, which was our second one, and it was already dark outside when we boarded the plane and drove onto the runway, and it turned off all the lights. It was dark, it was six o’clock in the evening, that is, he turned off all the lights, and at takeoff we took off in complete, pitch darkness. And as soon as he took off from the ground, he sharply went to the side, away from the city, away from those areas where they were shooting, because the militants have MANPADS, they shoot down helicopters and military aircraft, and more than once threatened to shoot at civilians. It is known that a plane flying to Moscow with civilians is a tasty target, why not shoot. Therefore, we had to leave in such conditions, it was just like Iraq, it was probably something,” says Anastasia Popova.
“Thank God, you are here, we congratulate you once again on your undoubtedly well-deserved award, we are proud to be part of the common profession. You and your film crew received the medal. Very nice. We dream of seeing your reports again, and take care of yourself,” says Dmitry Kiselev.
