Biography

Alexey Borisovich Serov was born on November 15, 1974 in the city of Ivanovo into a family of musicians. He graduated from Ivanovo school No. 58. From 1st to 3rd grades he studied in the children's pop ensemble A+B. Since the 4th grade I tried my hand at tennis - long-distance and table tennis. He studied in the puppet theater, in the sambo section, in the orienteering club, and also in the fox hunting section. I signed up for the football section. He studied at the same school with Nikolai Timofeev.

In 1997, he joined Timofeev, Ryzhov and Zhukov, becoming part of the Disco Accident group, of which he is still a soloist.

In 2014, Alexey Serov divorced his wife, TV presenter Irina Kachko, and in early February 2020, by decision of the Oktyabrsky District Court of the city of Ivanovo, he received sole custody of their joint five-year-old daughter Polina. Six months earlier, he took his daughter Polina to his place and is still hiding her from her mother. The relationship between Alexey and Irina lasted eight years, and they got married four years after they met[1].

“When I need to pull myself together, I say: “You have to believe in yourself, even if everything around you is terrible.” You just have to believe that you have everything in you, and everything negative will go away.

– Have you adhered to this attitude since childhood?

– Yes, since childhood I have strived to achieve my goals, to rely only on my own strength.

– The latest video of your group is called “Fantaser”. This is a remix. Curious why you decided to take this particular song?

– In principle, “Disco Accident” began its work with remixes. And one day I thought, why not make a “curtsey” to the past. In addition, the word “dreamer” had some incredible effect on us. Every time in the dressing room one of us says: “Guys, let’s make this song, everyone knows it. It doesn’t matter who performed it and when (this song was first performed in 1989 by Yaroslav Evdokimov. – Note “ZN”). Let’s make a driving, dance track so that everyone has fun and excitement.” And we hit the mark - a week ago we received the Golden Gramophone for this hit.

– Tell me, how did you invite Kolya Baskov as a performer?

– I wrote to him, he said: “Why not? Only I’m a tenor.” And I say: “We will work.” I’ll say right away that it was difficult for Kolya to be with me. I was the music producer on this song from start to finish. I tormented Kolya terribly in the studio.

– But why couldn’t it be filmed in the video?

– Because Kirkorov “broke” him into something even more hooligan.

– In this video, you probably managed to come off the most, you are there in different images. Did you come up with everything yourself?

– “Fantaser” showed that humor is what “Disco Crash” is all about. We cannot be polished, we are a gang from Ivanovo, we are who we are - real hooligans. We work with different teams, mostly young guys, creative directors, cameramen.

– At what age did you start playing music?

– From the first grade, I was accepted into the Ivanovo pop ensemble “A+B”, where my mother brought me. This is a very popular children's ensemble in Ivanovo. I hid behind the piano there for three years and never learned the notes.

“Wasn’t that interesting to you?”

– I wasn’t interested because we weren’t allowed on stage, we were the youngest. The elders - both at Artek and abroad - and I also dreamed about this. But no!

True, one day I finally made it to the stage when I represented the Artificial Sole Plant at a competition, the director of the club of which was my mother! For three months, one boy and I rehearsed the song “Aurora”, the day of judgment came, and we went on stage. We went out together, but in the end I sang alone. The duo fell apart when their partner ran off the stage in excitement. I remembered this moment for the rest of my life. And when I entered the 4th grade, friends from “A+B” ran up to me and said: “Well, let’s go sing!” - and I answered: “No, I’ll go to sambo.” And he went to sambo, football and orienteering.

– Did you combine it all at once or did you go over different years?

– At that time I went to all the circles. And in the puppet room, and the projectionist, and somewhere else. As a result, it turned out that he had been involved in orienteering for the longest time.

– Do you still regret that you did not receive a musical education?

- I'm sorry. And I always say to my mother: “Why didn’t you force me?” And she: “I had to go to work, I had no time.” But dad had time, and he tried to teach me. Do you know how it ended? I came with my school friends, and our whole apartment was filled with musical instruments - trumpet, violin, piano. Everyone started playing something, and our activity turned into a cacophony. Then my father said to my mother: “Okay, put everything away, otherwise I’ll hit him soon.” And I thought: “How so? Dad is so intelligent, students come to him, and he is so polite with them: “Here, Vanechka, there’s such a note here...” - and with me: “I told someone: do it, quickly put the trumpet away, sit down at the piano!”

“Didn’t you ask dad why he couldn’t study with you calmly?”

- No, I didn’t ask. Dad, unfortunately, died early. Somehow we didn’t talk about this with him. But he, of course, was worried, and when “Disco” had already begun to take off, he said: “I know: what I failed to do in this life, you will do better.”

– And later you didn’t want to hire an individual teacher?
