A difficult teenager, a bully and a brawler. He grew up in an ordinary Moscow family that had no illusions about the future of their child. My mother was even more surprised when the director’s assistant came to see her one day.
It turned out that Syoma, as usual, was playing “knives” with the child when the director’s assistant came into the yard in search of a boy to play the main role in the film “On the Count’s Ruins” based on Gaidar’s stories. The actor had to be stubborn and difficult, curly and painfully recognizable to every viewer.
Take your hands off grandma!
The woman approached a group of guys and explained who she was. Everyone stopped what they were doing and ran to her, vying with each other, talking about themselves and wanting to star in a movie. Only Semyon stubbornly continued to point his knife at the circle on the ground. She came up and stroked the child on the head: “Take your hands away, grandma!” the teenager soared. That's how she realized that the artist had been found.
When they asked their son to leave for filming with his mother, she agreed without any problems, only admonishing the filmmakers with the phrase that Semyon could set fire to the film studio. But everything went smoothly. At the age of 11, Morozov became a real actor and now he couldn’t imagine life without this profession.

Gave Bykov in the forehead
Five years later, the artistic council will select actors for the film “Seven Nannies.” Having decisively rejected the candidacies of Nikita Mikhalkov and Valery Ryzhakov, they remembered young Sema from “Ruins”. The young man was called for an audition and was immediately approved.
All the time before his new film job, he lived his school life and practiced boxing. When the young man shamelessly failed one of the scenes with anger, take after take, the director of the film, Rolan Bykov, took him aside and began to insult him. Getting excited, the boxer hit him in the forehead with his fist so that Bykov flew into the wall: “Amazing! Amazing! Can you play like that? — the director admired, shaking off the dust. This film was watched by 26 million viewers in the year of its release.
Brides
After school, he entered VGIK and joined the ranks of professional artists. The number seven once again brought out the name of Morozov in the hearts of fans. This time the film was called “The Seven Brides of Corporal Zbruev.” The artist played the main role there - Kostya Zbruev, who was looking for a bride after the army.
While still at the institute, the artist got married for the first time. He will live with his classmate Marina Lobysheva-Ganchuk for 13 years, but will never have children. Perhaps this is what caused the discord in the friendly acting family.
Semyon Morozov in cinema
Despite this, already at the age of 10, he was noticed by an assistant director and the boy received his first role in the film “On the Count's Ruins . As a teenager, he starred in the leading role in Rolan Bykov’s “Seven Nannies ,” where he played, in general, himself – a hooligan boy. After serving in the army, in 1969 he graduated from the acting department of VGIK .

In subsequent years, Semyon had many prominent roles in such films as: “Allow Takeoff!” with Anatoly Papanov and Maya Bulgakova , “The Tale of How Tsar Peter Married the Arab” , “They Drove a Dresser Through the Streets” , “State Border” .
“State border” 1986 – 1987
In 1979, Semyon Morozov again studied at VGIK, this time at the directing department. As a director, he shot only one full-length film, “The Incident in Utinoozersk . Despite the presence of famous actors in the film: Vladimir Steklov , Alexander Belyavsky and Viktor Ilyichev , Morozov’s directorial debut cannot be considered successful.
Works as editor of the children's film magazine “Yeralash” .
Theater
But Morozov himself served after the role of corporal. But even in the army a happy event awaited him. One day, Private Morozov was called to the commander and given a gift to be given to Anatoly Papanov, who was celebrating his 50th birthday at the Satire Theater. Arriving there, the soldier ran into Pluchek, who was surprised that the generally famous artist was serving and was not employed at all in the theater. And then he offered him a place at his place.
After the service, the roles came one after another: “Three Days in Moscow”, “The Tale of How Tsar Peter Married the Blackamoor”, “Walking Through the Torments” and many other well-known and still beloved Soviet films.
MOROZOV Mikhail LeonidovichBorn June 17, 1962
Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1997)
How it all began
Mikhail Morozov was born on June 17, 1962. Immediately after school he entered LGITMiK for a course with teacher A.I. Katsman.
In 1983, he successfully completed the course, and many remember his work in the famous graduation performance “Oh, these stars!”, where LGITMiK graduates cheerfully and wittily parodied popular pop artists. Among them, the parodies of Mikhail Morozov stood out - the magnificent Muslim Magomayev and the infinitely cheerful Eduard Khil. To get to this performance, in the spring of 1983, thirsty people blocked traffic on Mokhovaya!
The shine of “Stars” somewhat overshadowed another important role - Alyosha in “The Brothers Karamazov”. However, to those who saw Morozov in both performances, it became clear that a young actor was ready to appear on the theater stage, possessing not only a strong dramatic temperament, an advantageous stage appearance and a magnificent voice, but also capable of acute characterization, able to find laconic means of expression and to convey them into bright theatrical form. There was no need to talk about talent - it was obvious. All that remained was to wait for which theater the student of the wonderful teacher A.I. Katsman would end up in.
As soon as I graduated from college, I immediately began working on Leningrad and then St. Petersburg radio. Many radio plays, prose, and poetry were recorded. They say they still sound today. What was done there is not done anywhere else.
The invitation to the theater came from the Bolshoi Drama Theater, and since February 1, 1990, Mikhail has remained faithful to the St. Petersburg State Academic Bolshoi Drama Theater named after G.A. Tovstonogov. Morozov did not get lost in the famous troupe of G.A. Tovstonogov, although he went through a very traditional path: from an extra to the position of one of the leading actors.
BDT
Even in the crowd, Morozov’s performance was distinguished by its impeccable plastic drawing - in each of these characters, almost devoid of individual remarks, one could read the character. The first big work was in A. Dudarev’s “Privates”. The young soldier - big-eyed, thin, with a bandaged ear Mikhail Morozov's Dandelion was youth itself, scorched by the war, boyishly desperately brave and touching.
And then there was the Waiter in “Models of the Season”, Alyoshka in “At the Depths”, Panshin in “The Noble Nest”, Yasha in “The Cherry Orchard”... In recent years, in the unspoken theatrical table of ranks, M. Morozov has rightfully taken the position of hero. Today his track record includes Peter in The Last Ones, Cleonte in The Tradesman in the Nobility, Malcolm in Macbeth, Sergei in Thomas, Ferdinand in Cunning and Love, Ottavio in The Whims of Marianne, Bakin in Talents and fans”, Zvezdich in “Masquerade”, Randall in “The House Where Hearts Break”, Afanasy Pushkin in “Boris Godunov”...
Currently, Mikhail Morozov is one of the leading actors of the theater, a performer mainly of the classical repertoire. Mikhail himself believes that he is really busy in the theater, judging by the number of roles he plays. Of course, it varies from year to year, but in general he plays a lot. However, in order to feel in demand, he is constantly looking for new areas of application for himself.
Solo performances
Mikhail Morozov is a recognized master of the monogenre. One of the actor’s last works was a composition based on L. Tolstoy’s story “Hadji Murat”, successfully performed on the stage of the St. Petersburg House of Actors named after K.S. Stanislavsky. With this performance he fulfilled his long-time dream of staging “Hadji Murat”.
For more than two years, a one-man show based on M. Bulgakov’s story “The Life of Monsieur de Molière,” staged by him together with the outstanding violinist Ilya Ioff, has been played on the stage of the famous theater of the Yusupov Palace in St. Petersburg, in the Tsarsky foyer of the Alexandrinsky Theater and at other theater venues in the city. The performance was presented during the artist’s tour in Germany on the stage of the International Theater Frankfurt am Main and was highly praised in one of the leading German newspapers, Frankfurter Rundschau.
The one-man show “Boris Godunov” was created in collaboration with the leading director of St. Petersburg Radio, currently the director of the Bolshoi Drama Theater, Ivan Stavissky. The performance, which is the property of the artist, was, however, presented to the theater’s artistic council and received high praise, which allowed the premiere to be played on the Small Stage of the BDT. Over four years of constant operation, the work was presented at the All-Russian festival “Pushkin Program” in Pskov, at the All-Russian festival of solo performances in Perm, at the International festival of chamber and solo performances in Kiev, at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Helsinki, at the International Theater of Frankfurt an Main, at the Central European Theater in Bonn, at the Royal Theater in Bristol (UK).
On the Small Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, the one-man show “Journey to Arzrum” based on Pushkin was performed, and Mikhail also attended the All-Russian Pushkin Festival in Mikhailovsky with this performance.
When performing one-man performances, according to the actor, he plays what is close to his soul.
Movie
Morozov never wondered why he rarely appeared in films. However, he would like to star in a good film. Even if it’s in a TV series, but in a good, big, interesting role.
In the same way that his first role undoubtedly was in Alexei Simonov’s film “The Squad.” In it, Mikhail played the fighter Petrov. The film tells the poignant story of a small detachment of Red Army soldiers who found themselves surrounded without weapons in 1941 and marching towards the front line. Together with Morozov, the then young but today famous actors Alexander Feklistov, Sergei Garmash, Dmitry Brusnikin, Alexander Peskov starred in the leading roles...
The roles of Pyotr Chukhontsev in the film “First Meeting – Last Meeting” and Fyodor Kultakov in the famous “Genius” became noticeable. Mikhail Morozov also starred in several TV series, where the series about Sherlock Holmes especially stands out.
Radio
Mikhail Morozov never broke ties with radio, which began so well immediately after graduation, and has long been no longer considered a newcomer to the radio airwaves. In addition to radio plays and reading poetry and prose, he has worked and continues to work a lot in radio advertising. Working on a 15-30 second video on a modern FM station requires, if you will, a lot of skill. A combination of many professional qualities is required: the highest level of speech technique, acting skills, experience. And there are very few advertising voices now; all advertising on St. Petersburg radio stations is recorded by a few people. This is a very interesting experience. Sometimes you have to work hard and hard on this to make it sound simple and easy. And besides, it’s nice to do this, because you understand that you know how to do something that only two or three other people in the city do besides you...
Thanks to advertising, Mikhail ended up on the “Classics-Petersburg” radio station quite by accident. I was recording some kind of commercial, and then I found out that a new radio station needed a presenter. The search for presenters took quite a long time: many people who had experience working on radio came to audition. And Morozov thought and thought and proposed his candidacy himself. I did test broadcasts for a week, and they took him on.
This is how his colleagues speak about Mikhail Morozov on the radio station: “Needs no introduction. A charismatic personality... even odious. Enfant terrible Radio Classics. A consistent fighter against blind reverence for authority. Has a lot of haters and a persistent cohort of fans. Carefully disguises excellent knowledge of the material. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (the title was not received for broadcasting).” And the director of Radio Classica-Petersburg, Alla Shpanskaya, echoes them: “... he has very deep musical knowledge and passions.”
The dramatic actor Mikhail Morozov himself found his own genre in this work: “I am conducting a dialogue with an imaginary audience. And if there is no dialogue, then it turns out to be an empty speech of a DJ with calluses full of calluses on his tongue. I don't want to be vulgar or boring. By the way, I don’t even know what this role of mine is called: DJ or presenter. Something of mine is being discovered, my personal genre. And that’s interesting to me... If people start listening to classics thanks to me, then that’s very good. But I'm not an educator. It just so happened that I know classical music, since from the age of twelve I attended the Philharmonic and listened to many great performers and great composers. That's why I want to talk about her. In addition, I have a professional anger: I am for - a - a - making you listen to me! My own comments on music are one pole of the “Classics-Petersburg” radio, but we have people who know this subject thoroughly, and this is the other pole of the radio. We complement each other."
Beautiful life
Despite his long career in the profession, Mikhail Morozov does not give the impression of a tired actor; on the contrary, he is a young, cheerful, intelligent person with a sparkling sense of humor, who is interested in creativity in all its forms and manifestations. In addition to those highlighted above, the actor has another favorite area of activity: he teaches. He teaches in many places. At the First St. Petersburg School of Television and Advertising, for example.
This is the recipe for a beautiful life that Mikhail Morozov gives to his viewers, listeners and fans: “Probably family, children, home, work, travel. I have all this. I don’t even know what else to wish for... Perhaps this is the recipe for a beautiful life.”

Now he lived with his new passion - make-up artist Svetlana. With her, the actor had his first child, Misha. However, as soon as his son turned five, on the set of “Have Love in Half,” the artist met the director’s daughter, Svetlana Rodicheva. She was only 16, but for the sake of this young lady Morozov left his family.
Only after getting to know Sveta better did he realize that Dunaevsky and even Vysotsky were also courting the beauty. However, after seven years of attention from Morozov, Svetlana surrendered to him. They got married when the girl turned 23. Svetlana gave her beloved daughter Nadezhda.
