Biography
Oleg Chernov was born in a mining town in the Kemerovo region. His parents worked in the mine.
After graduating from school, the young man tried to enter the local medical institute and dreamed of becoming a dentist, but he did not get one point. I was still enrolled for next summer, but in a different faculty - sanitary and hygienic. After studying for two years, he left the university, realizing that this was not his “dream”.
For some time, Chernov worked in a mine with his parents, then got a job as a stage assembler in a theater. It was here that he realized that he wanted to become an actor.
After two years of studying at the Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts, Oleg went to Saratov and became a student at the theater department at the Conservatory. Sobinov, having taken the course of Valentina Ermakova. In 1994, Chernov received his long-awaited diploma.
Provincial childhood of Oleg Chernov
Oleg was born on June 23, 1965 in the city of Prokopyevsk, whose whole life revolved around a mine located nearby. The boy's father worked for 30 years in the lower levels of the mine, which almost cost him his sight. Over time, he practically stopped seeing, distinguishing only blurry silhouettes of people, but his pride did not allow him to admit this. The family accidentally found out that the father had poor vision and took timely measures, thanks to which his vision was restored. Mother also worked in the mine administration. Oleg has a sister who is eight years younger than him.
Actor Oleg Chernov grew up and got married for the first time in a provincial town
From early childhood, the boy was a physically developed and resilient child. He was actively involved in sports, mastering the skills of shooting, swimming, boxing, and skiing. Chernov recalls that in a small town there were only two options for spending leisure time - either sports, or aimlessly walking the streets with local punks. Of course he chose the former. In between studies and sports clubs, Oleg studied with his sister. He looked after her no worse than her mother, changing diapers, feeding her from a bottle and putting her to bed.
By the time he graduated from school, the guy still hadn’t decided what profession he wanted to choose. The opportunity to enter a physical education school did not attract him, since none of the sports he had mastered seriously interested him. Therefore, he tried to enter the Kemerovo Medical Institute at the Faculty of Dentistry, but he only needed one point for admission. A year later, he successfully passed the exams for the sanitary and hygienic faculty of the same educational institution, where he studied for two years before realizing that medicine did not attract him at all.
Without receiving a diploma, Chernov returned to his native Prokopyevsk, where he got a job at a mine, while also working as a watchman at the city's local history museum, where, ironically, many years later there would be a corner dedicated to him as the man who glorified the city.
Theater
After graduating from high school, the actor got a job at the Omsk Academic Drama Theater and very soon began appearing on stage in leading roles. After working for four seasons, the artist moved to St. Petersburg, where he was accepted into the Satire Theater on Vasilievsky.

Moving to St. Petersburg, Oleg Chernov in TV series
One day, having seen stunning views of St. Petersburg in a music video, Oleg realized that this is where he would like to live.
I took tickets for the train, and soon stood on the banks of the Neva, breathing in the fresh air with pleasure. There he came to the understanding that he found himself in the city in which he wanted to spend his whole life. Less than a month had passed since Oleg was hired to work at the Satire Theater, located on Vasilyevsky Island, where he played in such significant performances as “Don Juan”, “Ariadne”, “Love for Three”, “The Sky of the Fallen” and others. At the same time, Chernov began to receive offers to star in TV series, mainly the roles of strong, self-confident special forces and police officers, which was facilitated by the charismatic appearance of the actor. His main role in the series “Sea Devils” brought him fame, which was so successful that directors continue to film season after season to this day. The phenomenon of the popularity of the series lies in the fact that before this Russian cinema had not produced films on a similar topic. Almost all dives, as well as some fight scenes, were filmed without the use of stunt doubles, which made the series as realistic as possible.
Cinema
The actor made his film debut in the popular St. Petersburg series “Streets of Broken Lights-3,” playing bank security officer Lenya. Then he appeared in other rating projects: “National Security Agent-3”, “Deadly Force-2”, “Secrets of the Investigation-2”, “Gangster Petersburg. Peredel", "Katerina". And everywhere the artist played operatives, security guards, and crime bosses. This role was firmly assigned to him.
"Sea Devils"
Oleg Chernov became famous in 2006 with the release of the war film “Sea Devils”. Here he played one of the main roles - the commander of the Typhoon detachment, the underwater saboteur-reconnaissance officer Ivan Bulatov (Batya).
There are four of them - Dad (Oleg Chernov), Bagheera (Daria Yurgens), Bison (Ivan Parshin), Dwarf (Vitaly Kovalenko). They are special forces soldiers. They are called “sea devils,” although they can rightfully be considered knights of three elements: they operate on land, in water and in the air. Each of them has his own character and his own destiny, but each is determined to fulfill his professional duty, regardless of the risk. The concepts of “brotherhood”, “friendship”, “officer’s honor” are not just an abstraction for them, but something they value and for which they are ready to sacrifice their lives.
New episodes of the film are released every year. The adventures of the Sea Devils have not left the screen to this day. The hero Oleg Chernov was promoted to rear admiral. In 2020, the project is expected to continue – “Sea Devils. Borders of the Motherland."
At the same time, the artist played the main roles in the crime film “At Risk” by Vladimir Kott, the melodrama “Turns of Fate” by Alexander Zamyatin, the biographical film “Lyudmila Gurchenko” by Sergei Aldonin and Alexander Imakin, and the film adaptation of Victoria Borisova’s novel “The Theory of Incredibility” by Stanislav Nazirov.
"Sklifosovsky"
Oleg Chernov also received one of the leading roles in the mega-popular sitcom “Sklifosovsky”. The artist played the orderly Dmitry Askerov.
In 2020, the long-awaited continuation of the series about the difficult everyday life of doctors at the main Institute of Emergency Medicine will be released on the Rossiya TV channel. For 5 years now, millions of television viewers have been following the fate of the charming and charismatic Doctor Bragin, played by Maxim Averin.
In the new sixth season, we will have to find out what it’s like for the talented surgeon Bragin (Maxim Averin), who has an excellent practice and hundreds of saved lives, to shake in the ambulance where he was sent last season?
Meanwhile, a new doctor appears at the institute - maxillofacial surgeon Krivitsky (Andrey Ilyin). In Sklif he will meet with actress Elena Yakovleva, a duet with whom in the TV series “Kamenskaya” once made a screen star out of a theater actor. Ilyin’s hero is a surgeon who lived in exile for many years and for some reason returned to his homeland.
Not everything is going smoothly in the family life of Bragin and neurosurgeon Marina Narochinskaya (Maria Kulikova). Will Marina be able to resist the fame that befalls her after a unique operation and save her family? Narochinskaya also has a secret, which she does not dare share with her beloved husband.
In the last episode of last season, Bragin brought Nina (Anna Yakunina) to Sklif after a suicide attempt. He is sure that the imperious Pavlova (Elena Yakovleva) brought Nina to this state out of jealousy. And while Sklif’s doctors are fighting for Nina’s life, two men who love her are on duty at her bedside - an orderly Askerov (Oleg Chernov) and Neklyudov (Andrey Barilo), who suddenly returned from abroad.
In total, the actor has about seventy film roles.

The students managed to build friendly relationships already on the first day of training, and they got married during their last year of study. Some time after the separation, the couple starred together in one part of the multi-part film “Sea Devils”.

Oleg Chernov lived with his third wife Irina for about ten years. The separation happened due to heavy workload in film projects. The wife was tired of being alone almost all the time, since Oleg was on long-term business trips. Irina initiated the divorce.
After some time, changes occurred again in Oleg Chernov’s personal life. Currently, he is happy in a relationship with actress Marina Blake, whom he met during the filming of the action film “Inspector Cooper.” Due to the fact that artists work in theaters in different cities, spouses often have to live separately. As you know, Oleg no longer has children, besides an adult heir.

Let us remind you that earlier rumors about the artist’s death appeared on the Internet, so fans began to be actively interested in the cause of his death. Fortunately, this information turned out to be false: the actor is alive and well. On the Internet you can find photos of the artist in which he is captured together with his wives. Fans can also find photos where the artist appeared before them in different images.
Dubbing
In 2009, Oleg Chernov first tried himself in a voice-over role - he dubbed John Cena in the American action film Ranny Harlin "12 Rounds".
Three years later, the artist worked as a voice-over artist for Sam Mendes's award-winning film 007: Skyfall about the famous James Bond. One of the main characters of the film, Raoul Silva, brilliantly played by Javier Bardem, spoke in the voice of the actor.
“This is my first experience in dubbing at this level,” says the artist. — Javier Bardem is interesting to me as an actor. My main goal was not to spoil his wonderful performance in this story. I think I succeeded and I'm very happy. I didn’t even think about Bond, but my friend and colleague Valery Solovyov duplicates him so wonderfully.”
Clips
The actor has experience in filming video clips. He worked with such stars as: Lolita, Dmitry Malikov, Jasmine, Philip Kirkorov.
The artist recalls his collaboration with Lolita Milyavskaya: “I always wanted to meet Lolita, and suddenly music video director Oleg Gusev invited me to star in her video “Lipstick.” Lolita was going through a difficult period at that time; she had just broken up with Alexander Tsekalo. She amazed me with her attitude to work, efficiency and lack of show-off. But then I was tightly captured by cinema, and I could no longer find time to film with artists.”
Personal life
Oleg Chernov was married four times. The first, early, marriage lasted only a year. “We met Lyudmila, my first wife, at the theater: I worked there as an assembler, and she was an actress,” the artist shares. “We just dated for several months, then we started living together and tested our feelings.” And only after a while they got married... A son was born. They named Kolya in honor of my father. But we were very young and did not fully understand all the responsibility. We separated when our son was several months old.”
A few years later, Oleg met a new love: “It so happened that for the second time I married a colleague. Nastya Svetlova and I studied at the theater school. Our relationship developed rapidly. We quickly signed our names, drank a cork of Metaxa, and ran to our graduation performance, “Salome.” They lived happily for four years and... got divorced. We parted without scandals.”
The artist lived with his third wife, Irina, for 10 years. He is always on set, rehearsals, she is alone. Irina was not ready to wait all her life - the couple broke up.
In the early 2010s, while filming the action movie Inspector Cooper, the actor met his current wife Marina Blake, as he says: “We were sitting in the same trailer, talking, and I noticed her. Before the next shooting of “Cooper” I had a free evening, I dialed her number and we met. Since then we have not parted to this day.” Their union turned out to be happy, although the artists often have to live separately - Oleg works in the St. Petersburg theater, and Marina in the Moscow one.
Filming in the series “Sea Devils”
“Sea Devils” is a popular Russian television series that was released in 2006. It tells about Russian combat swimmers. The main role of dad from “Sea Devils” was played by Oleg Chernov. He got the image of naval special forces Ivan Bulatov, who by the end of the story had risen to the rank of admiral.
Addition. Oleg admitted that at the beginning of filming he could not imagine that the action movie would receive such success. The actors gave their best to get a good result. However, the directors did not support their aspirations. They argued that the series, at best, would be shown on regional television or not aired at all. Their predictions did not come true. Every year, “Sea Devils” continue to gain popularity and increase in ratings. The action movie received good reviews from critics and viewers, so 5 seasons were filmed.
A few years later, filming of “Sea Devils” began. Smerch-3. Sergei Saleev was offered to play the small role of Pavel Kislov. She soon made the actor famous, and also became the last in his career, after which he died.
Interview
About profession and love
“I think that romances on the set interfere with work. You still need to keep a line and not interfere with personal relationships and profession.”
About the difference between St. Petersburg and Moscow actors
"There is a difference. There is less fuss in St. Petersburg. This is conducive to work. In Moscow, as a rule, actors meet somewhere on the run and do everything quickly. As a result, everything is less “detailed”, sometimes “aggressive”. Aggressive in the sense that whoever didn’t have time, didn’t have time: success does not await. And in St. Petersburg, the approach to work is more family-oriented, more kitchen-based, intimate, with an emphasis on interaction and relationships. In Moscow, as they say, “nothing personal or superfluous.”
About friendship with colleagues
“I have many friends who are actors, directors and other colleagues. Both in cinema and in the theater. And I value them very much, although, unfortunately, we don’t see each other often. But still, there is a telephone and the Internet to communicate, and the works of friends can be seen on the screen and on stage. I’m happy for them more often than I’m sad, and that’s nice.”
About popularity and roles
“The guys and I woke up famous after the second season of “Sea Devils.” Unexpectedly, to be honest, for ourselves! Evaluating yourself is difficult. But my Dad turned out to be convincing. I grew up with him... Although there were many other interesting works - and in feature films too. But I don’t have a favorite role, because each of them is dear to me in its own way. Each one contains my work, my experiences, my doubts. These are my children."
“In Moscow they know even more than in St. Petersburg, and in the provinces, where TV is the only entertainment, it’s difficult to be on the street. I’m not complaining, I’m pleased, I’m always happy to sign an autograph or take pictures - it’s part of my profession. But there are very obsessive fans.”
“I’d be lying if I said that I don’t like popularity. This is a component of the success of any actor, and the actor who says that he does not strive for this is lying. This is, after all, the fruit of our labors! And yes, my popularity helps me quickly resolve some everyday issues.”
About Me
“Unfortunately, I have not visited my homeland often over the past few years. A lot of work, filming, performances... But I feel that over the years I am increasingly drawn to where my roots are, my family: mother, younger sister, nephew, wonderful father, who worked as a miner all his life. For me, as a person who knows what mining work is (in fact, I grew up in a mine), this is tantamount to a feat. Of course, I am very proud of my father and Siberian roots.”
