Since childhood, the actor dreamed of becoming a sailor, but due to his young age he never entered the naval school.

He abandoned such a romantic and promising profession at the personal request of his mother, entered the Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute, and became a professional theater and film actor. Today he has already turned 75 years old, but the actor is still full of strength and energy.

Throughout the festival days, the girls did not leave each other a single step, accompanying their star dad. “This is my second time at the festival,” Anastasia told me. “This year I’m not only a member of the jury, but I’m also looking after my little sister.” Here I am her mother - trying on this role. MIKHAILOV's daughter is very similar to her star dad

— Have you already chosen the father of your future children? Does Alexander Yakovlevich approve of him? — I have a lover with whom we are planning to get married this year. Dad approves of my choice, but knows my boyfriend only from my stories. I hope that upon returning from the festival I will arrange a meeting with them. I don’t want to name the groom’s name yet. Let me just say that I found my bearded man in the world of cinema. But he's not an actor. I have never seen an actor as my life partner. I know firsthand how difficult it is when there are two artists in a family.

At a prayer service in the Chita Cathedral, festival participants received a blessing to carry out a “good cause for the region” from Bishop Eustathius

— Your father’s 70th birthday is in the fall. Celebrate in a big way? - We will definitely celebrate. We already know what we will give. I prepare in advance, because I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it in time due to filming. So I have two surprises for dad: my wedding and a gift. I hope everything goes to the highest standard. — How does Alexander Yakovlevich feel about the fact that you became an actress? — My father didn’t want me to enter VGIK. And I took it and did it! Dad often criticizes me, but I even like it and I obey him. Almost always (laughs). I'm still far from it, of course. And my father’s favorite film is “Love and Doves.” This year the film is 35 years old, and people are reconsidering it and reconsidering it... - At the festival, in addition to films, everyone discussed the events in Ukraine. “This is a big tragedy for me.” My fiance is from Poltava. Therefore, our hearts bleed for his family. Dad says the civil war must end soon. The worst thing is that people continue to die. — I see cigarettes in your purse. But on June 1, the law banning smoking in public places came into force. — Regarding the new law, I am both in favor! Although I smoke occasionally myself. But I have to quit if I want to have healthy children. This is the most important thing in life. My father smoked both cigarettes and a pipe. But then I found the strength to quit. So I have someone to look up to.

Where does Alexander Mikhailov live now?

For many years, the actor, along with his second wife and children, has lived in the elite village of Trusovo on Pyatnitskoye Highway. The Istra Reservoir is within walking distance. He purchased the plot in honor of his 70th anniversary, choosing an ecologically clean area of the Moscow region for a quiet life.

Initially, such large-scale construction was not planned. On a plot of 12 acres, a garage and a Russian bathhouse were erected, just as the actor dreamed of. Today, on this site stands a luxurious two-story mansion, which has become the family nest of the Mikhailovs.

Alexander Mikhailov and Taisiya Povaliy

The Ukrainian singer, in a duet with the actor, performed the soulful composition “The bird cherry tree is swaying under the window” as part of the popular music show “Two Stars”. It was their stellar triumph on stage. Rumors about an office romance between celebrities immediately spread in the press, but were never confirmed. Alexander Yakovlevich is married, and Taisiya Povaliy loves her legal husband.

Alexander Mikhailov

He played more than 75 roles in films, and embodied slightly fewer characters on the theater stage. Alexander Mikhailov’s most striking works in cinema were the films “A Hostel is Provided to the Lonely,” “Men,” “Love and Doves,” and in the theater he played Ivan the Terrible, Prince Myshkin, and Raskolnikov. It’s even difficult to imagine that once the actor did not dream of the stage at all, but entered the theater institute thanks to pure chance. His life has not been easy since birth. Alexander Mikhailov was born in a Buryat village in 1944. There, in Buryatia, his early years passed. Later the family moved to Steppe station in the Trans-Baikal Territory. He was only four years old when his parents separated and subsequently all the worries about raising his son fell on the shoulders of one mother.

Stepanida Naumovna was a powerful woman, sometimes even tough. But she knew how to solve all problems with the help of song. If her soul was difficult and she wanted to howl with anguish, she asked her son to get a balalaika and started playing mischievous ditties. And sometimes she sang family Old Believer songs in a clear voice. It was probably from his mother that Alexander inherited his musicality.

He was only ten years old when he accidentally saw a reproduction of Aivazovsky’s painting “The Ninth Wave” in a magazine and became ill with the sea forever. Then he was simply locked into a dream of the sea. Ten-year-old Alexander ran away from home twice and tried to get to the Nakhimov School in Leningrad without a penny of money. After her son’s second escape, Stepanida Naumovna decided to move to Vladivostok so that her son could go to study at a nautical school.

True, they took the naval class only after the eighth grade, while Alexander only graduated from seventh. But he was not going to give up on his dream: he entered a vocational school, which stood right on the seashore, in Diomede Bay, and they also gave out vests instead of T-shirts. But after graduation, he did not go to the shipyard, but persuaded the captain of the diesel-electric ship “Yaroslavl” to take him on a voyage, to any position.

Alexander Mikhailov became an apprentice mechanic and went to sea for two years, feeling absolutely happy. He became a motor mechanic, then an electrician, and had already received a referral to a nautical school when, during a storm in the Sea of Okhotsk, four seiners sank to the bottom at once. The ship on which Alexander Mikhailov sailed was heavier and was able to get out of the storm. But there was no contact with him for several days, and on the shore they no longer hoped to see the crew members alive.

Coming ashore, Alexander Mikhailov saw his mother, who had turned gray over these few days. Mom then gave an ultimatum: either the sea or her. He decided to write off, but only for a while until his mother calmed down. He worked as an electrician at a clothing factory and continued to dream of the sea. And then a new dream burst into his life.

He came to the play “Ivanov” based on Chekhov completely by accident. I hoped to sit until intermission and immediately escape to a nearby restaurant, where the fishermen were going to celebrate the end of the fishing season. Students of the Far Eastern Institute of Arts played that day. Alexander Mikhailov not only did not leave after the first act, but even after the end of the performance he was not immediately able to move from his place. Then he was captured by a new dream, about the stage. That evening he wandered for a long time along the Amur Bay, saying goodbye to the ocean.

Soon he was already standing on the threshold of the Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Arts, where additional enrollment was opened for the theater department. In just one night, he learned an excerpt from the Kreutzer Sonata, poetry and a fable, which he found while literally pestering passers-by on the street, who shied away from him as if he were crazy. Only one man asked why he needed the fable, and then took him to his home, where he handed him a book with the fable “Squirrel”.

During the exam, the unlucky applicant was tense and even covered with red spots from excitement, but the course director, Vera Nikolaevna Sundukova, believed in him and insisted on his enrollment. And during the first two years of study, when some teachers proved to her Mikhailov’s professional unsuitability, Vera Nikolaevna continued to believe in him and did not allow him to be expelled.

He revealed himself only at the end of the second year, when, together with Yuri Kuznetsov, they showed an excerpt from “Virgin Soil Upturned” by Sholokhov. At the end of the show, he was applauded not only by his classmates, but also by his teachers. Thus, another dream of Alexander Mikhailov came true, he became an actor. He served in the Saratov Drama Theater, later became a member of the troupe of the Ermolova Theater, then played at the Maly Theater. Since 1974 he began acting in films.

Dreams of happiness

It’s not for nothing that Alexander Mikhailov calls himself a dreamer. He has been dreaming all his life, since childhood. And most importantly, all his main dreams tend to come true. True, sometimes this does not happen immediately. In his second year at the institute, the future actor met a student of the music department, Vera Musatova. Then he believed: this is happiness for life. However, something happened that often happens in families: the mother did not accept her son’s girlfriend. Then Alexander nevertheless married his beloved and then for 35 years rushed between his two beloved women, his wife and mother. But all his efforts were in vain; even the birth of his son and grandson Konstantin could not reconcile them.

He was tired of family squabbles, and then plunged headlong into an affair with his colleague Olga Kuznetsova, who in 1991 gave birth to his daughter Anastasia.

Then there was a painful divorce, which, in spite of everything, allowed the former spouses to maintain a normal relationship. However, after breaking up with his first wife, Alexander Mikhailov could not recover for a long time, seeing the fragments of his dream of family happiness. For a while he didn’t even want to live, and he went to war in Chechnya, first with concerts, and then stayed to fight. But God saved his life and gave him another chance to be happy.

He met Oksana Pozharnova while she was dating actor Vladimir Vasiliev. It turned out that they were born on the same day, only 23 years apart, and Oksana’s great-grandfather bore the last name Mikhailov. He served as a firefighter in the village of Sokolovo, and his profession soon became his surname.

Oksana later married Vasiliev, and they had a son, Vladislav. The boy was only two years old when his father died of a heart attack complicated by diabetes.

They met again a year after the death of Vladimir Vasiliev. Then Alexander Mikhailov asked Ksenia to look after her mother while he was on tour. Returning to the capital, the actor immediately went to his mother and found a complete idyll: Stepanida Naumovna and Ksenia managed to become friends. Then he had the idea that this woman had appeared in his life for a reason.

They have been together for more than 17 years, their daughter Miroslava has been playing in the theater and acting in films since she was 16, and Alexander Mikhailov adopted Vladislav, so he proudly says that he has four children.

In his second marriage, he found peace of mind and realized that he was absolutely happy. Ksenia became for him the very reliable support that he had so lacked all his life. All his dreams came true, but in the life of Alexander Mikhailov there is always room for new horizons and dreams.

One of the most striking works of Alexander Mikhailov in cinema was the role of Vasily Kuzyakin in the film “Love and Doves”. The film could have been a two-part series, but director Vladimir Menshov had to cut out a lot of footage, criticized by the censors for immorality and “humiliation of the dignity of ordinary collective farmers.”

Alexander Mikhailov in the film *Love and Doves*, 1984

On March 16, 1931, the wonderful actor, director, and screenwriter Sergei Yursky was born. His filmography includes more than 80 film roles, but one of the most striking works was the role of Uncle Mitya in the film “Love and Doves.” In fact, there should have been much more episodes with the participation of this actor, and the film itself could have been a two-part series, but director Vladimir Menshov had to cut out a lot of footage, which was criticized by the censor for immorality and “humiliation of the dignity of ordinary collective farmers.”

The idea to film a lyrical comedy came to Vladimir Menshov after he saw a performance based on the play by Vladimir Gurkin on the stage of the Sovremennik Theater. The director later admitted: “This doesn’t happen to me very often in the theater, but I laughed and cried.” Almost all the characters had real prototypes: he wrote the characters of Nadyukha and Vasily from his parents, Uncle Mitya from his grandfather, Baba Shura from his grandmother’s sister, the Kuzyakins - the real name of his neighbors, the plot itself was also “seen” from the lives of relatives .

Menshov was struck by Nina Doroshina, who played the role of Nadya in the play, and although he later invited Lyubov Polishchuk to audition for this role, Doroshina still turned out to be more organic. Subsequently, the actress appeared on stage in this image for more than 20 years. Nina Doroshina turned out to be practically the oldest on the set - she was about 50 at that time, while Baba Shura was actually 10 years younger than her. “Grandfather” Sergei Yursky was only 48. They were a couple not only on screens, but also in real life - the actors got married in 1970 and lived together for almost 50 years.

They looked for a location for filming for a long time, visited dozens of villages, but in the end the “Siberian village” was found in Karelia, in Medvezhyegorsk. The house of the main characters was rented from the real owners for the duration of filming, everything was paved with wood, like in Siberia, a veranda was added and a dovecote was built. In 2011, after a fire, this house was demolished, and now in its place is a new cottage. And the area where the film’s characters danced square dances was dismantled by local residents for firewood and planks for sheds. The resort scenes were filmed in Batumi, however, the characters had a hard time: filming took place in November, and they had to swim in water with a temperature of only 14 degrees. At the same time, pyrotechnicians and lighting workers heroically splashed around, pretending to be vacationers.

Filming was completed in December 1983, but audiences saw the film only a year later. At the artistic council, the film was rejected on several counts. At that moment, the anti-alcohol campaign was in full swing, and the first requirement was to cut out all the scenes where the characters drank. The role of Uncle Mitya was immediately reduced almost completely, many comical episodes were dropped. Menshov refused to make changes and was removed from editing. “They appointed another director to re-edit. But after all the edits, the tape openly fell apart. So they brought me back, and I defended almost everything. Except for one scene on the pier. Remember when the heroes leave unfinished beer, a man comes up and starts drinking? This is where the shot ends, although the scene originally lasted a minute. We found a local resident who easily drank six liter mugs in the first take,” said the director.

Nevertheless, the film was still trashed at the artistic council. Even at the stage of approval of the script, Menshov was accused of immorality and promoting alcoholism. The verdicts were harsh: “The picture gives the impression of some kind of uncleanliness in peasant life and leaves a feeling of overkill and bad taste. Menshov's sense of elementary taste changed here. What could exist in the theater in an actor's performance, in the cinema turned into vulgarity... Comrades at Goskino looked at the picture and thought that if drunkenness was removed from the picture, then everything would be all right. Drunkenness is now a tragedy of the people, not a funny behavior. Therefore, one cannot treat him so lightly.”

Another member of the artistic council stated: “Intelligent Tenyakova and Yursky play unintelligent people, and this is very noticeable; there is little deep, root behavior in them. Looking at Mikhailov, it’s hard to believe that his hero was so drunk that his goal was only to chase pigeons. But if they wanted to show an eccentric, then here is clearly an eccentric with a low ceiling, and this confuses me.” The director was given the following recommendations: “Reduce the number of drinks! The story with Gurchenko is drawn out: scenes of their relationship, a scene of scandal. Consider whether the scene with the flowers on the trees at the end of the film is appropriate. Cutting the dances short is very boring.”

There would have been enough material for two episodes, but many episodes had to be cut. Unfortunately, they were not preserved - the film was destroyed, all the negatives were washed away. Alexander Mikhailov, who played the main role in the film, said: “Seven scenes were cut out! Very funny! If we were to return them now, it would turn out to be a two-part feature film. You would just be lying there with laughter right now if you watched it...”

Disease

The actor often recalls an incident from his life. After the play “Ivan the Terrible,” he was returning home when suddenly he felt ill. Blood flowed from his throat, the artist was urgently hospitalized. He spent 2 days in a coma and saw a prophetic vision. During that period of illness, Mikhailov lost 32 kg.

On November 6, 2020, sad news appeared in the press that People’s Artist Mikhailov had died. Fans were shocked, but the actor's director denied this information. Alive and feeling great.
