New stage of solo career
In 1998, the singer's career reached a new level. To reach a larger part of her audience and attract new fans of her work, Vika is changing her image and repertoire of songs. The result of such innovations was a popular album called “The Sun”. But by September 2001, Victoria was returning to her previous image and repertoire. In the same year, the singer worked with Mikhail Krug and recorded several joint songs with him.
For Vika, 2002 was memorable for her performance at the festival dedicated to Russian Navy Day. During 2003–2004, the singer continued his solo activities and regularly holds concerts throughout Russia. Since 2004, the singer begins to participate in various television projects as a film actress. Her film debut was the series “On the Corner of the Patriarchs - 4.” In March 2006, Vika delighted her fans with a new album. From 2007 to 2013, the singer regularly performed her new songs and gathered full houses in all major cities of Russia.
Since 2014, the singer has become a member of the Russian Communist Party. In 2020, Victoria Yuryevna receives the medal “For contribution to the patriotic education of the younger generation.” And this is not surprising, because over the years of her solo career, Vika often went with concerts to Chechnya, performing for disabled children and orphans. During 2015-2016, the singer regularly performed concerts in Crimea and Donbass. Her songs are permeated with love for her homeland, and they find a response in the hearts of listeners.
Vika Tsyganova is the singer who always remains a welcome guest at all concerts in Russia and neighboring countries. The singer’s popularity has only grown over the years, and in response to the love of her fans, she regularly performs songs that quickly become hits.
Music career
Having moved to Moscow, Vika settled in a rented apartment and began looking for work again.
She visited all the theaters, but without connections and money, it was extremely difficult to get onto the capital’s stage at that time. Desperate, the girl was even thinking about returning home when an unexpected phone call sounded in her apartment. A friend suggested that she meet with a “cool manager” who promotes young artists and puts together a musical group. This manager turned out to be Vadim Tsyganov, a talented screenwriter and songwriter who really needed a vocalist for his new group “More”. True, in Vadim’s initial idea it was supposed to be a man, but after hearing Vika’s strong, soulful voice and the Don Cossack songs performed by her, he immediately changed his mind. Tsyganov invited the girl to collaborate and on the very first evening he wrote the song “St. Andrew’s Flag” for her, which became the singer’s calling card for many years.
Vadim Tsyganov and Vika Tsyganova in their youth
Since 1988, Victoria was the lead singer of the group “Sea”, took part in the recording of the albums “Caravel of Love” and “Autumn Day”. In 1989, she won the audience award at the “Song of the Year”, toured extensively throughout the Soviet Union, and performed as the opening act for the group “Tender May”, whose director Vadim was at that time.
Vika Tsyganova and the group "Sea"
In 1990, Tsyganov, in tandem with composer Yuri Pryalkin, wrote several songs for Vika, which were included in her first solo magnetic album, “Walk, Anarchy.” The cassette quickly spread throughout the Soviet Union and, as in the case of “Tender May,” thanks to truck drivers and long-distance train conductors, the singer’s voice soon sounded in the most remote corners of the country. Vika Tsyganova - Love and Death (1993) She was followed by the collection “Balalaika-infection”, which was even more successful. In 1992, the singer’s first solo concert took place at the capital’s Variety Theater. Tickets for it were sold out on the very first day of sale, and from that moment it became clear that a new star had shone on the Russian stage. One after another, the singer’s new albums began to be released, her songs instantly became mega-hits, were played on all radio stations and occupied the top lines of the most prestigious charts in the country for months. A fierce struggle broke out between the performers, in which producers, advertisers and other influential people intervened. In particular, Vika and her husband were threatened by the director of the singer Aziza, Igor Malakhov, since the Tsyganovs signed a petition against the alleged killers of Igor Talkov participating in Eurovision. As a result, Masha Katz (Judith) went to the competition, which brought Russia ninth place. Vika Tsyganova - Russian Vodka (1997) In 1996-1997, Victoria decided to experiment with the repertoire, and hooligan, rollicking songs with a patriotic slant were replaced by lyrical compositions, romances and ballads. The collections “Only Love” and “Kalina Krasnaya” were published in a new style, which, like the previous ones, were warmly received by the public.
Vika Tsyganova in Chechnya (2000)
This period did not last long. Soon Tsyganova returned to patriotic songs, with which she repeatedly performed in front of soldiers and officers fighting in Chechnya. In total, the singer visited the combat zone twelve times, and what she saw there became a serious test for her psyche. Victoria began to openly criticize the authorities for the Chechen conflict and soon became persona non grata on the Russian stage. Tsyganova was no longer invited to central television and national concerts; radio stations refused to broadcast her songs and undeservedly removed them from the charts.
Vika did not know where to move next, she plunged into deep depression and was close to despair. She even thought about joining a monastery and went to Optina Pustyn to receive a blessing. The meeting with the priest brought her back to life - the elder advised her to continue doing what she loved, listen to her heart and not follow the rules of show business. Victoria did just that and since then she has been singing only at the behest of her soul, not paying attention to the size of the fees and the prestige of the concert venues.
Concert of Vika Tsyganova (1995) A striking stage in her work was her collaboration with Mikhail Krug, short-lived but very fruitful. Together with the famous master of chanson, Tsyganova recorded eight joint duets, which were included in the album “Dedication”, and the song “Come to My House” became an immortal hit along with the legendary “Vladimir Central”.
Vika Tsyganova's husband
Vika's husband, Vadim Tsyganov, is a popular and recognized poet, producer, and also an outstanding designer in his circles. He has an excellent education and significant experience working with various musical groups. Since April 1990, Vadim has become the official producer of his wife.
According to family friends, Vadim for his wife is the embodiment of kindness, affection, and also a reliable creative partner. Their wedding took place in 1990, but despite the passing years, their family and personal life are still as strong as during the honeymoon period. And as Vika Tsyganova claims, this is largely due to her husband.
Theater
For the first time, the young actress appeared on stage in the graduation production “Our People – We Will Be Numbered.” In this performance based on the play by A. Ostrovsky, the girl got the role of Lipochka. Thus began the theatrical biography of Vika Tsyganova.
Singer Vika Tsyganova
In 1985, the aspiring artist was accepted into the Jewish Chamber Musical Theater. But a year later, Tsyganova appeared on the stage of the regional drama theater in Ivanovo. But even here I stayed only for a year. The creative search continued. Viewers of Magadan were able to appreciate the performance of the talented actress, whom the directors entrusted with the main roles. Here, at the Youth Musical Theater, Vika Tsyganova sang and played in 1988.
The girl played a number of notable roles. And all this time Tsyganova not only played, but also sang talentedly.
Vika Tsyganova now
Tsyganova’s biography becomes more and more vivid and interesting over the years. News over the past few years indicate that the singer took an active part in educating the younger generation, thereby enhancing the image of the country. So in January 2020, Vika sang her songs at the Russian Air Force air base in Syria. With her songs, Tsyganova supported the return of Crimea to Russia. After the start of the war in Donbass, the singer performed concerts more than once in the cities of the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR.
At the beginning of March 2020, Vika Tsyganova sang at a concert in Crimea dedicated to its return to Russia. In 2020, the singer is still in demand on stage and, despite her age, she is still as beautiful today as in her youth. She happily gives interviews to various print publications, and various magazines print her photo on their central covers. Some of Vika Tsyganova’s ill-wishers claim that she has undergone artificial facial plastic surgery, to which she responds that her beauty is based on her love for her songs and her country.
What is the singer doing now?
Until 2011, our heroine recorded albums and went on tour around the country. Today she is rarely seen on TV. The famous singer is involved in charity work. She provides moral and material assistance to orphans, disabled people and mothers who lost their sons in hot spots.
The biography of Vika Tsyganova once again confirms the expression “a talented person is talented in everything.” She not only sings and dances beautifully, but also draws. And recently Tsyganova tried herself as a clothing designer. Her outfits are popular among connoisseurs of style and quality. Some stars of Russian show business are happy to wear clothes from the TSIGANOVA brand.
