After receiving her college diploma, Olga went to enroll in the famous Gnessin School, where she had long ago chosen a course in musical comedy. She studied in the group of mentor Grigory Gurvich.
The creative biography of Olga Filippova began in her 2nd year at Gnesinka. Grigory Gurvich involved a student in the “Die Fledermaus” theater he directed. Like most of her peers, the girl began with roles in the crowd, hoping that she would soon be entrusted with key heroines. But when this did not happen, Filippova left the theater.
Olga Filippova: “Follow the chosen road with confidence”
The fatal beauty, loving mother and talented actress Olga Filippova spoke in an interview with K&Z about new film projects, the happiness of loving and the ability to find a reason to smile even on cloudy days.
Dossier
Born on January 23, 1977, from 2001 to 2002 - actress of the cabaret theater "The Bat" under the direction of Grigory Gurvich. In 2002, she made her film debut in the film “The Mixer” (directed by A. Shane II). In 2003 she graduated from the Music College named after. Gnesins. In the same year, she received a special jury diploma “For the modern embodiment of the classic female image” at the IV International Festival of Film Actors “Stozhary” for the film “Carmen” (directed by A. Hwang). She starred in the films: “Apples of Paradise”, “Blood Ties”, “Atonement”, “Betrayal”, “A Simple Life”, “Father Matvey”. Since 2004, she has been in a civil marriage with actor Vladimir Vdovichenkov. In 2005, Olga and Vladimir had a daughter, Veronica. In 2014, the couple separated. At the beginning of 2020, a film with Olga’s participation, “The Huntsman’s Wife,” will be released.
Ekaterina Fadeeva (“Beauty & Health”): You are the first actress in the family. Were your parents against your choice of profession? Olga Filippova:
They really have no direct relation to art - mom is a financier, dad is an engineer. And yet, the spirit of creativity always reigned in our house: my parents encouraged all my attempts at self-expression - vocals, handicrafts, dance lessons, modeling school. My idol was Aunt Lyuba, my mother’s sister. She worked in the circus for a long time. As a child, I loved listening to her stories about rehearsals, performances, and tours. And she played it all with enthusiasm. (Smiles.)
“K&Z”: It’s a long way from games to an acting career... O.F.:
As the saying goes: I didn’t choose the road, but she chose me. The vocal teacher noted my absolute pitch. Inspired, I went to audition at Gnesinka and, despite the skepticism of many acquaintances, I got in on the first try. I was accepted into the department of musical comedy, where a lot of attention is paid to acting, and just a year later my course master Grigory Gurvich invited me to join the cabaret theater troupe “The Bat”.
“K&Z”: Why didn’t you stay at the theater? O.F.:
Because I fell in love with cinema.
On the very first day of filming, I realized that cinema was truly mine. It doesn’t matter in what conditions or even with whom I work on site. After the word “Motor!” I forget about everything and immerse myself in some magical creative process. “K&Z”: What made you famous was your leading role in the film “Carmen”.
Was it difficult to pass the casting? O.F.: For a newcomer dreaming of his first role, the most difficult thing is to even get to the screening. You have to visit film studios day after day, hand out portfolios to assistant directors, and every time you hear in response the standard phrase: “Thank you, we’ll call you.” Weeks and months pass, but the phone is silent. Then I realized that the main thing in our profession is patience and self-confidence. Because, if you believe, one day a call will come that will change everything... That’s exactly what happened with “Carmen”. As my film partners later said, director Alexander Khvan approved my candidacy as soon as he saw the photo.
“K&Z”: In “Carmen” your heroine is a prisoner in a colony, in “Betrayal” she is an intriguer trying to ruin the life of a classmate... Don’t you dream about the roles of Turgenev’s young ladies? O.F.:
I also have positive roles.
I will only note that it is much more difficult and more interesting to play a woman who is entangled in difficult circumstances and has lost faith in goodness than a completely positive, pure-hearted romantic person. “K&Z”: If you don’t agree with the director, do you defend your point of view?
O.F.: By nature, I am an absolutely non-conflict person. I hate arguing, I always try to come to an agreement and find a compromise. Both on the set and in everyday life. And if it doesn’t work out, I can cheat a little. (Smiles.) During filming, an acting double comes to the rescue. First you need to play as the director wants, and do the last take in your own way. After a while, during the editing process, all options are examined, and sometimes the director gives preference to the actor’s version. And there is nothing to defend. (Laughs.)
“K&Z”: How do you get out of acute situations in life? O.F.:
I don’t enter into open conflict. I try to wait for the right moment, when the atmosphere is no longer tense, and propose to discuss everything calmly. Usually it helps.
“K&Z”: After information about your separation from Vladimir Vdovichenkov appeared in the press, you did not hush up the situation and directly voiced your view of it in an interview. Almost six months have passed - do you regret it? O.F.:
I gave an interview on a personal topic, only so that people would treat the situation correctly, and I don’t comment on the divorce anymore. Everything is fine with me - a new stage of life has begun, and a lot has changed for the better.
"K&Z": What, for example? O.F.:
In recent years, I have been paying all my attention to my family, pushing professional ambitions into the background... But now my daughter has grown up.
And now there is a chance to make up for lost time. "K&Z": Fly-lady - women who manage to do everything: run a household, have a brilliant career and be first-class wives - myth or reality?
O.F.: I think there are many women who deftly balance on the fine line between family and career, and they deserve all sorts of praise. But I'm not one of them. At a certain point, I gave preference to family, immersed myself in housework and caring for my daughter - and it was a conscious choice that I am proud of. Now I devote more time to my profession and I am also proud of this decision.
“K&Z”: Are you a strict mother? O.F.:
Not at all. All my educational intentions evaporate as soon as Veronica smiles. (Laughs.)
“K&Z”: Would you like your daughter to become an actress? O.F.:
The main thing is that she is happy and realizes herself in what she loves. So far, her favorite things to do are draw and... do math. Veronica also loves active leisure - a bicycle, roller skates, skates, skis - everything that gives a feeling of flight and speed.
“K&Z”: You often change your hairstyle - recently you appeared in photographs in gossip columns with luxurious long hair, and now you have done a short bob again... O.F.:
Actresses have a saying: if you grow your hair, you will immediately get a “cut” role. (Laughs.) So I had to make a bob for my role in the film with the working title “The Huntsman’s Wife.” Filming ended recently. She is a sharp woman, sharp-tongued, and a geometric haircut best suits her character...
“K&Z”: You mentioned a new film with your participation, tell us about it! O.F.:
I will not reveal details, I will only say that the plot, very exciting, is based on real events. Filming took place in Belarus. I literally fell in love with Minsk and the amazing nature of Polesie. It seems to me that every viewer will find something for themselves in this film.
“K&Z”: Could you gain weight for a role like Renee Zellweger for the Bridget Jones films? O.F.:
Weight fluctuations are unsafe for health, so I would first thoroughly consider such a proposal from the director. And yet, if the role is truly interesting, I’ll take the risk!
“K&Z”: Is your excellent physical shape the result of diet or genetics? O.F.:
Second. I was really lucky with my heredity. I can eat at ten in the evening without any problems - violating the regime will not affect my figure. However, I try to cook light and healthy food.
“K&Z”: What cuisine do you prefer? O.F.:
What I like most is the way they cook in Italy. Pasta with mushrooms in creamy sauce, salads with arugula, mozzarella - my food.
“K&Z”: How often do you go to spas? O.F.:
I regularly go for classic body and facial massage. On vacation I like to do body wraps.
“K&Z”: Tell us about your home facial care rituals. Do you find time for them? O.F.:
The most important stage is cleansing, I never skip it. Every other day I use a charcoal scrub. It exfoliates the skin and removes toxins from it. After the scrub, I make a mask with moisturizing or nourishing ingredients.
“K&Z”: Many actresses, tired of makeup, do not use decorative cosmetics in everyday life. And you? O.F.:
I can go out without any problem without any makeup. However, I love doing make-up. My makeup bag always contains powder, blush, mascara and eyebrow gel.
"K&Z": Where do you prefer to relax?
O.F.: This year we rented a dacha in the Nikolina Gora area. Veronica likes it there much more than, for example, at the seaside in Spain, where we were last summer. Yes, and I prefer country life to overseas resorts.
"K&Z": Describe your ideal weekend. O.F.:
In the summer - come to the dacha and lie in a sun lounger all day long with a book. In winter, go ice skating with your daughter. And my vacation is impossible without watching movies. If I’m very tired or upset, I turn on my favorite movie “Love and Doves.” I love it and remember every scene by heart! Five minutes of viewing for me is like a psychotherapy session and a guarantee of a good mood. (Smiles.)
Movies
A career in cinema also began with episodes. Olga appeared in "DMB-002", "Conditioned Reflex" and "Black Crow". But unlike the theater, things were much better in cinema. Soon Olga Filippova was invited by the famous director Alexander Khvan to his project. It was the acclaimed drama Carmen, which was released in 2003.

Later in an interview, Olga admitted that, despite constant conflicts in the family, she had a hard time with Vladimir’s departure. At one time, the actress tried to recover and even accepted the courtship of Alexei Makarov, but the affair with the son of Lyubov Polishchuk never happened.
