Childhood and adolescence
Batu was born in Moscow, where his parents studied and met – Kalmyk Sergei Sanzhigoryaevich and Tatar Firyuza Sharifullaevna. Soon after his birth, the family moved to the city of Lagan (formerly Caspian), where his father got a job as a process engineer at a large machine-building plant, and his mother began teaching a foreign language at school.
Batu Khasikov in childhood
Batu considers this Kalmyk city to be his small homeland, because it was there that he took his first steps in sports, which became his life’s work. It is interesting that the parents did not see their son as an athlete and at the age of 6 they sent him to folk dancing and art school. But they did not take into account the fighting character of the boy, who was not at all afraid of difficulties and was used to achieving his goals.
At the age of eleven, Batu independently enrolled in the karate section, led by Alexander Alymov. For six years, the boy achieved excellent results in one of the most difficult and tough styles of karate - Kyokushinkai - and became the owner of third dan.
Kickboxer Batu Khasikov in his youth
In 1997, the Khasikov family returned to Moscow, where new horizons opened up for Batu. He began to try himself in other styles (sambo, jiu-jitsu), mastered the elements of Thai boxing and hand-to-hand combat. In 2001-02 repeatedly became the winner of prestigious competitions in the Kyokushinkai and Seiwakai styles. At the same time, he studied at the Faculty of Physical Education of the Moscow Pedagogical University, which he successfully graduated in 2003.
Origin, education
Batu Sergeevich Khasikov was born on June 28, 1980 in Moscow. Father is an engineer, Kalmyk by nationality. He spent his childhood in the Kalmyk city of Kaspiysky (now Lagan). There he began training in Kyokushinkai karate under the guidance of coach Alexander Alymov.
In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Physical Culture of the Moscow Pedagogical State University (now the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Health).
In December 2011, at the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of political sciences (topic: “The policy of the Russian state in the field of physical culture and sports: problems of formation and implementation”). On February 16, 2020, he was stripped of the title of Candidate of Sciences by the specialized dissertation council at the Russian Academy of Peoples' Friendship due to accusations of plagiarism.
Sports achivments
In 2005, Batu began performing in kickboxing, choosing for himself the “full contact with low kick” section. Over the next five years, he won the national championship three times, became the European middleweight champion, a master of sports in kickboxing, hand-to-hand combat and sambo, as well as a first dan holder in kyokushinkai and seiwakai karate.
Athlete Batu Khasikov
A victory over Harris Norwood brought Bath the ISKA title in 2007, and two years later he received the WAKO-Pro belt after a fight with Ricardo Fernandez. In 2010, Batu won a fight with Fabio Corelli and added the WKA belt to his championship collection.
Despite his high achievements, Khasikov is practically unknown outside of Russia. During his entire sports career, he competed abroad only three times and was unable to travel to Japan to take part in K1 tournaments (the most brutal style of kickboxing).
Batu Khasikov and Mike Zambidis
In order to be able to organize international-level fights in Russia, Khasikov and like-minded people organized the promotion company Fight Nights. To date, more than forty mixed martial arts tournaments have already been held, in which both Batu himself and other top-level fighters took part.

One of the most memorable was the confrontation between Khasikov and Mike Zambidis. Their first meeting in 2011 was stopped due to a broken jaw suffered by “Iron Mike”. In 2014, a rematch took place, the victory in which became a bright point in the sports career of our hero. He considered that he had achieved everything he wanted in sports and switched to other areas of activity.
