Yuri Veksler: For him, the main thing was the actor

Childhood and youth

Sergei Meilekhovich Veksler was born in the Ukrainian city of Vinnitsa into a sports family in May 1961. The sonorous surname has always raised questions about the nationality of Sergei Meilekhovich. Both fans and detractors assume that the artist is Jewish, but he did not speak out on this matter or comment on the assumption.

The parents of the future actor were masters of sports in gymnastics. Sergei himself at first was involved in several sports at once: he swam, was fond of rowing and rhythmic gymnastics, but he gave priority to judo. Here Sergei Veksler achieved considerable success: the man is a candidate for master of sports.

Everything changed in the 8th grade, when Sergei first visited the theater studio. After his first appearance on stage, Wexler realized that he would definitely return here.

And so it happened. Now the guy’s soul was torn between judo and theater. The irony of fate is that art has defeated strength sports. After graduating from school, Sergei Veksler went to enroll in a theater university. After the failure, he did not despair, but tried to knock on the same doors again.

This was repeated three times, with a break for military service, and in 1982 Wexler became a student at the legendary Moscow Art Theater School. He studied acting under the strict guidance of Oleg Efremov and Andrei Myagkov. His classmates were Nikita Vysotsky and Natalya Negoda. In the first courses, Alexander Lazarev, Jr., and Vladimir Mashkov studied with him.

Career of actor Sergei Veksler

The first attempt to enter a theater university failed, and Sergei had to go to military service. At the end of it, he tried his hand again, and this time successfully. In 1982, Sergei Veksler became a student at the Moscow Art Theater School, where he began studying acting with two masters at once - Andrey Myagkov and Oleg Efremov.

After completing his studies, Sergei joined the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater troupe. Just 4 years later, he participated in productions of several theaters, and in 1996 he tried his hand at directing, and was again successful. Sergei Meilekhovich Veksler is also successful in cinema. His filmography includes more than 70 significant roles. He is known to a wide range of viewers as a GRU colonel from the TV series “Kremin”, a Cheka investigator from “Yesenin” and for many other roles.

Theater

In 1986, immediately after graduating from theater school, Sergei Veksler began serving at the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov. The young man appeared on this stage for 4 years. Then he became a “free artist” and today collaborates with many metropolitan theaters.

Moscow theatergoers watched the young actor play on the stage of the BalAst theater agency and the Roman Viktyuk Theater. In 1995, Sergei Veksler himself became a director and in this capacity staged the popular play “Arena”, in which he played the role of Orlando.

In many theaters, Wexler works as a plastic director, managing to appear on stage. For Viktyuk, Sergei Meilekhovich played Theseus in Phaedrus and Nedotykomka in The Little Demon.

Movies

The cinematic biography of Sergei Veksler began back in 1986. In the film "Jaguar" the young artist played the main character. At first, the actor did not refuse roles with a lot of tricks, which almost cost him his life.

“The Fate of Man” - Sergei Veksler

In the early 90s, Sergei experienced a terrible injury that could have left him permanently disabled. During the filming of To Survive, he was practically run over by a truck. Long-term rehabilitation was required. The artist began work only six months later. Wexler later spoke about this on the air of Boris Korchevnikov’s project “The Fate of Man.”

The first top-rated project in which Wexler was entrusted with the role of the Chechen Gyurza was the film “A Man’s Work.” It was released in 2001 and turned out to be one of the most striking events in Russian cinema that year. “A Man’s Work” became the springboard after which the actor from Vinnitsa began his rapid ascent to the cinema Olympus. He was invited to almost all top-rated TV series: season 2 of “Kamenskaya”, “Truckers”, “Taiga” and “Antikiller”.

Fans believe that the man regularly gets the roles of military and police officers, as well as, conversely, criminals, both because of his established role and acting talent, and because of his physical fitness.

Although he does not have outstanding parameters (Wexler’s height is 175 cm and his weight is at least 85 kg). But, according to the actor, before starting to work in cinema he worked as a wrestling coach, and today he is not only a candidate master of sports in judo, Wexler has become a practicing second dan black belt in Kyokushin Budokai karate.

In 2020, the artist appeared in an atypical genre - he joined the filming of the popular sitcom “Kitchen”. In the comedy series, Sergei Veksler played the role of oligarch Andrei Nikolaevich Diaghilev. The actor appeared in this role in the 5th and 6th seasons of the series. In the story, his character is the father of Nikita (Philip Bledny), a waiter at the Victor restaurant, one of the main characters.

In 2020, Sergei Veksler returned to the role of Andrei Diaghilev in the 2nd season of the sitcom “Hotel Eleon”. The new series is a spin-off and at the same time a continuation of the ended series “Kitchen”.

Personal life

As a graduate of a theater university, Sergei experienced his first vivid feeling - he fell madly in love with Irina Apeksimova, a first-year student. The guy looked after his chosen one with special trepidation, but the romance did not develop into a serious relationship. The actors parted as friends and today are family friends.

Sergei Veksler met his future wife by chance. They met at a party with mutual friends in the winter of 1991. The guy immediately noticed the beautiful ballerina Yulia Sadovskaya. As it turned out, she was not free, but this circumstance did not bother the actor at all and did not stop him: six months later, the girl realized that she could not find a better person in the world than him.

Sergei Veksler and his family

In November 1994, the couple was married in one of the capital's registry offices, and a few months later their first-born Ilya was born. The artist turned out to be a wonderful father, whom all children dream of. Together with his son, he played sports, went on overnight fishing trips, and demonstrated by his own example the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. In his youth, Ilya managed to take his first steps in cinema.

Today, Sergei’s personal life consists of his beloved wife Yulia Veksler and son Ilya. They are rightfully considered one of the strongest couples in Russian cinema. At the same time, the actor is extremely reserved in communicating with fans: you rarely see photos of his family on Instagram.

Personal life of actor Sergei Veksler

Sergey is an exemplary family man and father. His wife in 1994 was the ballerina Yulia Sadovskaya, whom he stole from her husband. The beauty’s “siege” lasted almost 4 years and ended in victory and a trip to the registry office. The couple has a son, Ilya. Sergey takes an active part in the upbringing and development of the child, despite his busy schedule, and finds time for joint sports activities, night fishing, and many other entertainments.

Sergei Veksler's only marriage turned out to be happy. His wife fully shares his desire for health, passion for sports and acting. The head of the family himself more than once in his interviews expressed deep gratitude to his wife for the understanding, patience, comfort and warmth that she and her son give him every day.

Sergey Veksler now

After a short break in Wexler’s filmography in 2020, the films “How Long I’ve Been Waiting for You” and “Don’t You Dare to Tell Me Goodbye!” were released with his participation.

These are Ukrainian projects: the performer does not forget his homeland and often works with Ukrainian filmmakers. Sergei is currently starring in the films “I’m Alive...” and “Alien Flock.”

About the wife of Sergei Veksler

Sergei and Yulia met while visiting a mutual friend in 1991.
At that time he was just a beginning artist and director. Yulia Sadovskaya was dancing in the Moiseev ballet; by the way, she was busy at that time. This explains that the feelings that the artist experienced when they first met were not mutual. But as a result of persistent courtship, six months later they became a couple. And already in 1994, the happy guys got married. However, this event can hardly be called traditional. The newlywed couple did not organize a festive feast and wear formal attire, since a week before the wedding, Sergei’s father, Meilekh Wexler, died. Julia was not eager to legalize her marriage, but the artist insisted on the wedding, since his beloved was pregnant. And the next year their son, Ilya, was born. He was born on April 7, just on Annunciation.

The life together of Sergei and Yulia has lasted for more than 20 years. During this period of time, the couple gained experience, thanks to which they learned to value each other. They can settle any quarrel. The artist states that he cannot imagine his life without his family. As in any family, their relationship was not ideal. The main problem was that Yulia could not forgive any offense, and Sergei did not know how to ask for forgiveness.

It happened that for six months the couple maintained relations only through their son and did not communicate directly. However, even this could not cause a divorce. All quarrels and misunderstandings were settled. Currently, Sergei and Yulia can be called an ideal couple. We can say with complete confidence that the couple is happy.
