Alexander Nikolaevich Serov was born on March 24, 1954. in the village of Kovalevka, Nikolaev region (Ukraine). The artist practically does not remember his father; he left his family when Alexander was still a baby. The mother had to provide for the family on her own. To do this, she had to move to the city (Nikolaev), where she became the head of a workshop at a factory.
In young age
Little Sasha stayed in the village with his grandparents.
Already in his childhood, Alexander began to show interest in music. He was a member of the school orchestra and played the viola. But there were no thoughts about a professional career as an artist; Sasha perceived his passion for music as a hobby. When the teenager heard a Tom Jones song on the radio, he decided to devote himself to music.
Alexander Serov himself masters the piano, and after school he enters the music school in Nikolaev.
At this time, the future star works part-time as a pianist at the Parus restaurant.
In 1970-1973, Alexander Serov served in the navy. The young man holds the position of squad commander. Takes part in military exercises, travels to Syria and France. The command honors the soldier with certificates of honor.
In the army, the singer does not forget the music. Alexander plays music, writes, sings (mostly in English). He even tries to organize a jazz group, but the idea was not destined to come true.

How it all began
Alexander Serov gained popularity in 1983 at the International Competition in Yalta. The audience was captivated by the velvety voice of an unknown performer. Alexander’s manner of performance on stage charmed the women present in the hall. A handsome, courageous knight with impeccable manners, he personified the embodiment of the real man that every Russian woman dreams of.
The conquest of the domestic stage by the aspiring singer was rapid. After a triumphant performance in Yalta, he is invited to take part in the international competition “Intertalent”. The competition took place in Prague. Alexander receives the Grand Prix, stunning the audience with the power of his voice. The next Grand Prix awaits him at the competition in Budapest. At the same time, television begins to broadcast his video filmed for the song “Madonna”. The song became an absolute hit of the year.
All-Union popularity came to the aspiring pop singer. The sought-after singer is invited to take part in interactive television programs. In the television programs “Wider Circle”, “Morning Mail”, “New Year’s Light” he became a regular guest. His new songs “How to Be”, “Do You Love Me”, “Wedding Music” became hits that were constantly played on the radio and TV.
Way to success
In the late 70s, the singer performed in musical groups. First it was VIA “Iva”, then “Singing Cabins” and “Cheremosh”. He remained the head of the latter until 1984.
Alexander first appeared on the silver screen in 1981 in a duet with Olga Zarubina. Their song “Cruise” quickly gained popularity and attracted attention to the young artist. Later he performed “Long-Distance Conversation” together with Tatyana Antsiferova.
Alexander Serov’s debut solo composition was the song “Echo of First Love.” In 1984 the young musician releases the album “The World of Lovers.”
At the peak of popularity
The singer's popularity is growing rapidly. In addition to his singing activities, Serov manifests himself as a successful TV presenter in the “Wider Circle” program.
In 1987, Alexander’s second album, “Madonna,” was released. He elevates the singer to the pinnacle of popularity. The video for this song is considered the first Russian video.
In the same year, the artist vividly represented the USSR in Prague at the “Intertalant-87” competition. The young singer wins the Grand Prix of the festival.
In 1988 Alexander performs at a competition in Hungary and again wins the Grand Prix.
Next year, the talented performer tries his hand at cinema. He plays a cameo role in the film “Souvenir for the Prosecutor.” Playing a singer in the film, Serov presents two songs, one of which is “How to Be.” This composition will take the top lines of the domestic charts.
After quite a bit of time, Alexander Serov gives fans the video “Do you love me” (1990). Not only is it a phenomenal success, it is also innovative. For the first time in domestic show business, a professional actress was invited to play a role in the video. The main female role was played by Irina Alferova.
1991 was no less successful for Serov. He performs at the Music in the Air festival in Germany and releases the album “I’m Crying.” In July, the singer was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
Alexander is still incredibly popular.
He tours a lot not only in the countries of the post-Soviet space, but also abroad. His velvety voice is impossible not to recognize. Serov occupies his niche on the domestic stage.
Songs are heard from all sides - “Wedding Music”, “You are in my heart”, “I have been in love with you for a long time”.
All this time, Serov has been working closely with his friend and colleague Igor Krutoy.
It is known that the first creative collaboration between Alexander Serov and Igor Krutoy took place back in the late 70s in Nikolaev. Both then worked at the Caravella restaurant as musicians.
For Krutoy, this was a part-time job, since he was then studying at the Institute of Culture. Even then, both musicians worked well together as a duet as a performer and accompanist. The young people also had joint plans for the future. Both dreamed of going to Moscow together, conquering the capital’s audience and, of course, successfully performing at international competitions.
But they met in Moscow a few years later. Igor Krutoy was the first to go there. When Serov moved to the capital, he did not dare to immediately contact his former colleague. But fate brought them together by chance, when the composer was in a pessimistic mood about his work. It was at this moment that Serov invited him to write something for his performance. This is how the song “Madonna” was born.
The further success of joint creativity prevented Serov from even attempting to collaborate with other musicians. But luck turned out in such a way that another famous composer Igor Nikolaev wrote poetry, and Igor Krutoy wrote the music, and performed by Alexander Serov, the song “I love you to tears” was born, which became an undeniable hymn to a woman.
The artist’s next albums were “Nostalgia for You” and “Suzanne”. Then there comes a rather long lull in the work of Alexander Serov. It is associated with the conflict between the singer and Igor Krutoy, who is the author of most of his compositions.
Creation
After serving in the army, Alexander Serov very quickly managed to adapt and put together several pop groups. He supervised their work and was an arranger. He was a soloist in the VIA "Singing Guitars".
The young singer’s first popularity came from creative unions with Olga Zarubina and Tatyana Antsiferova. The songs “Cruise” and “Long-Distance Conversation” immediately became mega popular in 1981.
1983 brought Alexander Serov 2nd prize at the Yalta Vocal Competition in the “Debut” category. Immediately after this victory, Serov was invited to television to film in the then popular program “Wider Circle”.
The artist's popularity peaked in the mid-late 80s of the last century. Creative work with composer Igor Krutoy brought the world such mega-popular hits as: “Do you love me”, “Madonna”, “How to be” and others. This music sounded from all the windows, it was listened to and re-listened to, and enjoyed. Beautiful words set to brilliant music, presented by an incredibly charming, charismatic man with a velvety voice, could not leave anyone indifferent. Alexander Serov found a response in any heart.
In Prague at the “Intertalent” competition in 1987 and in 1988 in Budapest, Alexander Serov became the winner of the “Grand Prix”, and this is already a recognized international success.
From 1988 to 1993, Alexander Serov constantly toured in Germany, Israel, Canada, the USA and other countries far and near abroad.
In 1993, the video “Do you love me” was released on television screens. The main roles in it were played by Alexander Serov and the most beautiful actress of Soviet cinema, the charming Irina Alferova. They immediately started talking about a romance between the actress and the singer, but all this turned out to be at the level of rumors.
The end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s did not bring the singer his former popularity. He releases new albums from time to time, but they increasingly contain old songs with new arrangements or compositions from the 80s that have not been released before.

In 2004, Alexander Serov received the biggest award in his life - the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation. In 2011, the same title was awarded to the artist in Ukraine.
Return
In 2000, Alexander Serov returned with two albums at once - “New and Best” and the instrumental “Michelle”. The creation of the latter artist was inspired by a tour of America. It is based on the music of Jerome Kern, the plays of Charlie Chaplin and the works of Alexander himself.
Next year in Moscow, on the stage of the Rossiya State Central Concert Hall, Alexander Serov will present the program “My Goddess” and the album “Michelle,” which is dedicated to his daughter.
With the program “My Goddess” Alexander tours the cities of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and abroad.
In 2004, Serov’s new video “Let’s steal each other” was released. The music for the composition was written by Igor Krutoy.
In the same year, Alexander Serov was awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia.
In 2007, Serov recorded the disc “Endless Love”. A year later the album “Confession” is released. It includes unreleased compositions from 1981-1992, followed by the disc “Fairytale Versailles” (2011). At the moment, the singer’s latest studio album is the album “Love Will Return to You” (2013).
Biography
Serov Alexander Nikolaevich was born in 1954 in the village of Kovalevka, Nikolaev region in Ukraine. I became interested in music back in school. He played viola in the school orchestra. At the age of 15, having caught the song “Delilah” on the receiver, he discovered the wonderful world of Tom Jones’ music. From that moment on, the fate of Alexander Serov was predetermined. 1970 -1973 - years of service in the ranks of the Soviet Army. Alexander Serov served in the navy on the cruiser Dzerzhinsky. He was the commander of the electric torpedo squad. Participated in exercises "South" and "Ocean". During training trips he was in Syria and France. The command awarded him certificates of honor. During his last year of military service he played in the orchestra of the House of Officers of the Nikolaev Garrison.
In 1973 he left for Krasnodar and worked for two years at the Krasnodar Philharmonic as a vocalist-instrumentalist in the ensemble “Iva”.
In 1977 and 1978 he worked as a vocalist-instrumentalist for the VIA “Singing Young Boys” in the city of Nikolaev.
Since 1981 , he has been not only a musician and vocalist, but also the artistic director of various musical groups from 1981 to 1982. - artist and director of the VIA "Svityaz" of the Volyn Regional Philharmonic. In 1982 - 1984 directs the VIA "Cheremosh" in Chernivtsi, in which the Rotaru sisters Lydia and Aurika sang.
In 1983 , he took 2nd place at the Song Contest of the countries of the Socialist Commonwealth in Yalta. After this event, I came to Moscow for the first time.
In 1984 , he became a participant and presenter of the “Wider Circle” program, broadcast on Central Television.

In 1987 , the name of Alexander Serov flashed brightly at the Intertalant-87 competition, held in Prague. Performers from twenty-five countries took part in this song tournament. The Grand Prix was won by a singer from the Soviet Union. This is only the second time in the long history of the competition that this has happened. It is noteworthy that initially Serov had almost no chance of even getting into the competition. For two October days there was terrible bad weather in Moscow, and the plane to Prague could not take off from Sheremetyevo II. Weather conditions only improved when the main competition program was completed. However, two songs in the final, sung almost out of competition (no one expected such success!), brought Alexander Serov the long-awaited victory. The Presidential Orchestra applauded him, his colleagues recognized him as the “Russian Tom Jones,” and the foreign press wrote: “A star has emerged from the fog.”
This event played a significant role in the recognition of Alexander Serov in his homeland. In 1987, the premiere of the video clip “Madonna” took place in the popular television program “Before and After Midnight” by Vladimir Molchanov. According to some experts, “Madonna” can be considered the first Russian video clip.
In April 1988 , six months after winning in Czechoslovakia, Alexander Serov won the Grand Prix at the Pop-song-festival in Budapest (Hungary).
In the same year, the singer’s first giant disc called “Madonna” was released. The music for it was written by Alexander’s friend and colleague, composer Igor Krutoy.
At the end 1988 , Alexander Serov became a laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize.
The end 1989 was marked by the premiere of the film “Souvenir for the Prosecutor” directed by Alexander Kosarev, in which the singer played a cameo role and sang two songs. One of them, “How to Be,” became a real hit this year.
In the summer 1990 , the country was excited by a new video creation by Alexander Serov called “Do You Love Me.” The innovation of this work was that for the first time a professional actress took part in the filming of the video. In 1992 - 1998 the singer often tours abroad. Canada, Israel, the United States of America, Germany are the countries most frequently visited for concerts.
1998 The year is a turning point in the work of Alexander Serov. Touring America inspired Alexander to create an instrumental album. It is based on the music of the famous American composer Jerome Kern, several plays by Charlie Chaplin and instrumentals by Serov himself.
2000 year. Release of the albums “New and Best” and instrumental “Michelle”

Personal life of Alexander Serov
Alexander Serov is one of those public figures who do not like to flaunt their lives. From the very beginning of his career, the singer did not give interviews regarding his personal life. The handsome man was undoubtedly popular with women. Numerous fans attributed affairs with singers and actresses to the artist, but Serov was officially married only once.
Already a popular person, he met Elena Stebneva. This happened on the set of the “Goodbye” video.
They dated for about two years, then got married. Elena, a master of sports in acrobatic gymnastics, devoted herself to her family.
