Svetlana Toma – biography, photo, personal life, news, filmography 2020

Svetlana Toma's childhood

Svetlana Toma has a real surname on her father’s side – Fomicheva. Born in Chisinau. My father held a significant position; he worked as chairman of a collective farm. The girl comes from a multinational family. Great-grandmother is French, father is Jewish, and mother is Russian. In addition, there are Hungarian and Austrian roots. My father saw his future wife during his student days. He studied at the Agricultural Institute. His beloved worked there as a secretary.

In her parents’ house in the village, Svetlana was free from everything; mom and dad loved their daughter very much. When a girl went on vacation to her mother’s relatives, she had to forget about the liberties of village life. Svetlana Toma never dreamed that her biography would be related to acting. The girl wanted to become an investigator or a lawyer, so she chose the Faculty of Law to enroll after high school.

Only death separated them. Chief director Svetlana Toma

Svetlana was born in Moldova, in an ordinary family.
Her father came there to work as a livestock specialist from the Voronezh region, her mother is a local resident, an activist of the Bessarabian communist underground. Such a beautiful surname was taken by Sveta Fomicheva during her first filming. Toma is pronounced with the emphasis on the last syllable, as it comes from the French language. The actress's grandmother was French and had the same maiden name.

French relatives expected little Sveta to visit every holiday. The bourgeois part of her family instilled strict etiquette, which the girl who wanted to run and play, of course, did not like. But Svetlana will thank her mother’s relatives when she turns from a tomboyish child into a real lady with refined manners.

At school, Toma was a diligent student. I also tried because the excellent students were given a sponsored foal and calf. For good grades, the child was honored to be the first to break in the horse when it grew up and to milk the cow.

A good certificate helped Svetlana enter Chisinau State University. She was already dreaming of a strict lawyer's suit when she had a meeting at a trolleybus stop that changed her whole life.

The actor, who knew that director Emil Loteanu was looking for exactly this type of girl for his new film “Red Glades,” approached Svetlana and confidently explained the task.

Svetlana auditioned out of curiosity, but refused the offer: which of yesterday’s schoolgirls is an actress? But the director had already seen her in his film and was not too lazy to follow the girl to her hometown of Balti, where he managed to convince the parents of the future actress that she had not only beauty, but also a rare talent.

Director

Her parents gave in, and her dreams of law school faded as soon as the beauty first realized how magical the world of cinema could be.

In Chisinau that year, the target course of St. Petersburg LGITMiK was recruited, where Toma went. Meanwhile, filming began. The stern and demanding Loteanu squeezed all the juices out of his ward.

Gossips testify: in order to achieve grace and lightness of gait, the director tied a stick to Svetlana’s back and three kilogram weights to her feet. But, having gone through all these gymnastic exercises, the actress really created the impression of a fluttering moth in all her films.

And after filming, Emil Vladimirovich became sensitive and attentive. He tried to treat the little actress with sophisticated dishes of his own preparation, taught, treated, and did not give offense. She did not immediately understand that an adult, and Lotyan was then approaching 30, a confident, elegant man was courting her.

Two lights

Now Toma herself will not admit when she fell in love with the director. He says that he wants to keep such intimate details of his novel for himself. But he doesn’t argue: serious passions were running high. Moreover, throughout his life Loteanu will be close to his favorite artist.

She was very young when she entered the circle of an already quite famous director. The famous representatives of bohemia, with whom Emil Vladimirovich was friends, received the girl well, but the director himself could flare up and disappear somewhere in the middle of a noisy celebration, leaving the young Sveta in complete confusion in someone else's house.

They both had temperaments. The couple often had clashing interests, especially when it came to work. While filming another movie, Loteanu again approved Toma for the main role, but she was busy with other filming. Having given her consent, the actress, who worked in St. Petersburg, honestly waited for the call. But the Leningrad film crew simply did not show Toma the telegram - so as not to miss the deadline.

Loteanu was furious when Svetlana did not arrive on time. He not only invited another actress to play the main role, but also broke off all relations with Toma.

Marriage

film “Family Affairs of the Gayurovs” (1975)
Meanwhile, her life went on as usual. She settled in Leningrad, where she took part in filming and completed her studies, and after her diploma, as part of her course, she went to Tiraspol, where she quite unexpectedly received a marriage proposal from her classmate Oleg Lachin.

She did not notice the handsome blue-eyed boy with Polish roots for a long time. She communicated as with a friend, but he didn’t have to count on anything more. And he had long noticed the bright Toma with huge eyes.

Of course, she wanted a real family with a child and normal, non-bohemian, warm and cozy human happiness. I started to communicate closer with Oleg - it turned out that he was wonderful!

They played a real traditional wedding with a feast and began to live together. Soon Svetlana's only daughter, Irina Lachina, was born, who herself would become a famous actress.

All this time, while Svetlana was building her family happiness, Emil Loteanu did not appear in her life - he never called, did not send a telegram... And then suddenly he called her to audition in the Carpathians. In the movie “Lautar”, the director filmed Toma with her husband - in one of the episodes they played a couple who are breaking up.

Tabor goes into the sky

A few months after the family moved in with Loteanu, Svetlana’s husband went fishing with friends.
His wife and daughter were visiting their parents in Balti, and Oleg was in Tiraspol. Suddenly at night someone came running to Svetlana from the theater: Oleg was hit by a boat propeller while fishing. He died from loss of blood. Svetlana’s parents began to help with Irina, and Svetlana, in order to forget the pain of loss, and also to feed her family, began to work more and more. The work also continued with Emil Loteanu.

Ten years after their last collaboration, she again participated in the maestro’s auditions. Rada Tom was approved for the role of the gypsy only the second time. “The Camp Goes to Heaven” became her calling card all over the world: the film was bought by 112 countries. No other film made in the USSR or Russia has enjoyed such popularity.

Loteanu made her famous, and he made her happy. Tom does not hide: they were connected with this man by true love, which could be interrupted for many months, be severed by marriage ties with strangers, but never left.

According to the actress, the director was a very tough and irreconcilable person, and even a woman with her easy and flexible character found it difficult to live with him. However, her love for him reached such a height that she was ready to let him go to any other woman without jealousy or resentment - as long as he was happy.

Despite the fact that they were never officially married and did not give vows to each other, only death could separate this couple. Emil Loteanu died in 2003.

Today she continues to act in films and TV series and spends a lot of time with her loved ones - her daughter Irina and granddaughter Masha.

Tabor goes into the sky

The first experience with director Loteanu was a good, but not a stellar debut. But the second directorial work was very successful. The role of the gypsy Rada from “The Camp Goes to Heaven” largely left its mark on the same type of artist Toma. But whatever the standard role, the success of the film by the director from Moldova was ensured by the entire ensemble of means involved in the filming of the film: actors, script based on the works of M. Gorky, music by Evgeniy Doga.

We were filming a picture in the Carpathians, we got up early and had a lot of stress for the whole day. The director sought strong emotions. It was difficult for everyone. In Soviet times, it was very difficult for actress Toma to decide on a frank scene, although everything was verified to the smallest detail so that there was no vulgarity or vulgarity. We filmed the scene with a minimum of personnel. Difficulties with makeup, with behavior - the actress had to experience everything.

Loteanu became the most important director for Svetlana for a long time.
Now the record set by the film “The Camp Goes to Heaven” has not been broken by any film from the Soviet era, and real Russian films cannot boast that 112 countries bought the film to watch in their cinemas. All of Toma's roles were unusual. Directors often used other people's voices when voicing the heroine, but this did not offend Svetlana. With age, Svetlana Andreevna was offered other roles: the mother of ballerina Anna Pavlova, a Russian prisoner.
Gradually, the roles turned into episodic ones, but the actress continued to be in demand. And the biography of films was replenished. She is happy as a mother because she played with her daughter.

“Deep down we are all romantics”

— While Loteanu was still alive, you got married for the second time.

— We met with Andrey (playwright Vishnevsky - Ya.G. ) 5 years before. We formalized our relationship on his initiative. And the age difference scared me. Andrey is 18 years younger than me. In the end I made up my mind. We lived together for ten wonderful years, which I do not regret.

- Your daughter doesn’t take after you - she’s had the same husband for 27 years!

— Irina has a good husband, faithful and devoted. And I'm very happy about it.

— Your granddaughter Masha is 27. Aren’t you afraid that she will soon make you a great-grandmother?

- I will only be happy! .

— What about your profession now?

— Busy in private performances. I am happy to go with creative meetings, which include a poetic and vocal program. I act in films less often than I would like. Today is the time of a different generation and that's normal. Of course, it seems that in the days of our youth everything was better - both directors, cameramen, and attitude towards the profession.

But today there are different times, different requirements, different speeds. They shoot quickly, often in one take. In a month, or even less, the film - a full meter - was shot. In the 70s, Loteanu and Eugen Doga could afford a month, or even more, to travel around our vast country, collecting bit by bit old gypsy melodies for “Tabor”. Today there are no such conditions, neither material nor temporary.

— What do you think is the secret of the film “The Camp Goes to Heaven”? Why do audiences still watch it with pleasure?

-Indeed, Tabor’s success was stunning. 120 countries bought this film. The film has won many prestigious international prizes. And I have many awards for my role as Rada. But the biggest thing is the love of the audience. The film still looks great today. The viewer craves poetic, romantic, emotional love stories at all times. We are all romantics at heart.

Personal life of Svetlana Toma

Svetlana Andreevna’s creative union has ceased to be just professional. For 10 years, Toma and Loteanu tried to get along with each other. Svetlana has a gentle character, but Lotyan found it difficult to come to terms with the director’s complex approach to married life even for a wise and flexible woman. Svetlana married actor Oleg Lachin. The husband died early, leaving Svetlana with her one-year-old daughter.

It was difficult, I had to work, so Irina had to be dropped off at her grandparents. To make up for the lack of maternal attention, Svetlana devotes more time to her granddaughter Mashenka.

The second time the woman married Andrei Vishnevsky, they lived for 5 years. Maria followed in the footsteps of her grandmother. The first joint work of the daughter and granddaughter of the actress is the film “Crew”.

Daria Mikhailova

Work brought the actor together with Daria Mikhailova. The girl staged a play at the theater and invited Vladislav to one of the main roles. In the first years of his life with Daria, Galkin turned from a drunkard and joker into an exemplary family man. In his fourth marriage, he was able to experience the happiness of fatherhood, raising his little daughter Mikhailova. However, this marriage also collapsed. After 11 years of family life, Daria decided to leave Vlad, unable to stand her husband’s drunkenness. They never officially divorced - they didn’t have time.

Svetlana Toma now

Currently, the actress is at an advanced age. Her daughter and granddaughter, Irina and Maria Lachin, try to accompany their mother and grandmother in many events. At the opening of the Moscow Film Festival, all the star women were together, as always.

Svetlana Andreevna is still slim and elegant. Actress Toma has a very active lifestyle. She does gymnastics and enjoys cycling and cross-country skiing. Film offers for the actress continue to come in.

Why Svetlana Toma doesn't eat meat

Svetlana Toma.
Still from the film “My Affectionate and Gentle Beast.” Despite the impressive numbers in her passport, the actress does not look her age at all. When they ask her what is the secret of her youth and attractiveness, she answers with a smile that she has not eaten meat for 40 years.

Svetlana became a vegetarian under the influence of Natalia Fateeva

. It was she who once, during a trip on tour, suggested that Svetlana read a thin book about vegetarianism. And the impressionable Svetlana was shocked by the new information about what happens to meat in the human body.

Since then, such a product as meat ceased to exist for her. The actress happily eats cereals, vegetables, and fruits, but does not impose her point of view on anyone.

Her aunt (mother's sister) Sala Sukhaya, who was an activist in the underground communist movement in pre-war Bessarabia, is well known. In 1933 she was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She served her sentence in the Romanian prison "Doftana", known as the "Romanian Bastille". In the 50-60s she became an editor and worked in the publishing house of political literature in the USSR.

Books that shaped my inner world

At a certain stage of life, every person has books that shape their inner world, life position, and views. At one time, I was impressed by A. Solzhenitsyn’s novel “In the First Circle.” I also like the wonderful works of psychologists such as Dale Carnegie: “How to be happy in the family”, “How to make friends and influence them”, “The Language of Persuasion” and many of Sigmund Freud’s works from the collection “Psychology of the Unconscious”.

I believe that not only books shape a person’s inner world. After all, for the formation of the inner world, family education, literature and art, open, trusting communication with other people, communication with oneself, and the experience of one’s own life are also important.
