I thought I was clumsy. Interview with Vyacheslav Butusov

Vyacheslav Butusov is a Soviet and Russian rock musician, leader and vocalist of the groups Nautilus Pompilius and U-Piter. In addition, he composed music for cult Russian films. The musician’s fans are interested not only in his work. Fortunately, the personal life of Vyacheslav Butusov is not a secret that he would hide from the public.

First marriage

The musician’s biography includes two marriages. The first wife of Vyacheslav Butusov, Marina Dobrovolskaya, is an architect by profession and works as a costume designer.

The young people met at the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute. Six months after the first meeting, they got married. Their marriage lasted 13 years. In 1980, the couple had a daughter.

When young Butusov had another woman, a divorce immediately followed. Marina later shared memories of the last weeks before breaking up. She said that “that month was like a honeymoon.” When Butusov left for St. Petersburg again, his wife found a note in the hallway. In it, the husband announced a divorce and asked Marina to live her own life. The papers at the registry office were completed in a very short time, despite the fact that the couple had a minor child at that time.

The ex-wife of Vyacheslav Butusov seems to have forgiven the musician a long time ago. Marina herself admitted: “Now I’m talking about this without tragedy - everything went on as usual. But then I couldn’t understand how 13 years of marriage could end like that.”

Childhood

The biography of Vyacheslav Butusov says that he was born in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in the small village of Bugach, on October 15, 1961. Since childhood he was interested in music. In the fourth grade, he persuaded his parents to buy him his first guitar, which was very difficult to get at that time. However, the parents, despite the difficulties, wanted to help develop their child’s talent and did everything possible to find a guitar for him. But they could never have imagined that this instrument would become the basis for his famous future.

In his last grades, Vyacheslav Butosov, whose biography is discussed in the article, really wanted to go to his native Krasnoyarsk, but his parents did not let him go, but the musician, without listening to them, collected all the certificates from the school and left. He soon returned from there because he was disappointed in his friends, who began to drink and smoke. He had completely different interests and goals that he could not realize there.

Until the ninth grade, his family often had to move to different cities in Siberia because of his father’s work. The future musician graduated from school in Surgut.

Second marriage

The musician played his second wedding after he moved to St. Petersburg. The second wife of Vyacheslav Butusov turned out to be nine years younger than the singer. The fact of having a legal wife did not in any way hinder the developing romance.

Vyacheslav stated that “the spiritual connection with Marina was lost long ago.”

It is noteworthy that Angelica managed to get close to the singer’s daughter, Anya, who was nine years old at that time. The girl trusted all her secrets to her father's new wife.

Angelica gave the musician three children - daughters Ksenia (1991) and Sophia (1999) and son Daniel (2005). It is curious that the children of Vyacheslav Butusov (Anna and Ksenia) were born on the same day - July 31, but with a difference of eleven years.

By education, Angelica is an art critic. Therefore, the couple formed a good creative tandem.

The musician spoke about his life before meeting Estoeva: “It was as if I was in a gaseous state, and only after meeting Angelica did I find myself.”

The personal life of Vyacheslav Butusov was not without problems. As his career took off, the young musician developed an alcohol addiction. One day, a famous artist admitted that he had practically reached rock bottom, and he considers this episode in his biography to be the most shameful.

Angelica told how, after ten years of marriage, the musician realized that because of his addiction he could lose his family. The couple went to the temple, and this had a very strong effect on Butusov. Now he himself provides help to people suffering from alcoholism.

On the anniversary of Vyacheslav Butusov

He always does what he needs, but he has never been selfish.

A week ago, the greatest Russian musician, composer, poet, vocalist, and idol of our rock, Vyacheslav Butusov, turned 50 years old. There is nothing more empty than congratulating such people on their birthday; for this, something like a status in VKontakte is enough. Let's better talk about what makes Vyacheslav's work so attractive to me (as, I hope, to many of those who were born in the distant 20th century).

The reason for success is simple: Vyacheslav’s personality and character. Since it was the character traits that determined the fate of Slava, or rather one trait - ambition. Here people who are a little familiar with the biography of the hero of the day will be indignant and say: “Are you out of your mind? This man didn’t want not only fame, he didn’t even aspire to become a musician - he was a brilliant Sverdlovsk architect, he designed the metro. Butusov found going out in public with great difficulty; he became stone-faced with excitement. And just as stony, only not from excitement, but on the contrary - from amazing calmness he was and remains in life.” And in response to this, I have no choice but to clarify that I mean not so much ambition itself as its absence, since I completely agree with the above point of view.

At the same time, it should be noted that being at a distance of millions of light years from star fever is also a kind of ambition. And if we add to it the natural ability to remain tough in actions, but at the same time surprisingly calm in character, we get the other side of the coin. It was she who almost split the great “Nautilus Pompilius” back in the 80s, she split it in 97, it was this that turned the fate of Vyacheslav and everything that surrounds him. And everyone who surrounds him.

I’ll digress a little more, but I can’t help but express another portion of admiration for Butusov’s character, and for this I advise everyone to watch the recording of the “Raffle” program with the participation of our hero. I think we should all learn to remain steadfast in situations where the average person is ready to burn everything around him. In “The Raffle,” the stars swore, fought, called familiar policemen and familiar authorities, but I don’t remember anyone who walked in the frame looking like a giraffe - a graceful indifference to the African savannah.

So, it was not fate that threw Vyacheslav, but he, fate. Because the story of his life is so rich that for me there are 4-5 completely different images of Butusov.

The first is a rocker with a youthful, high-pitched voice that turns into a creak and scream, wearing a black dermantine jacket with a scary painted face. To be honest, visually it was quite disgusting, but it was during this time - the 80s - that almost all the best Nautilus songs were written. And here it is very easy to spit on everything except this music. This music will be eternal! (I couldn’t help but quote this quote, it’s insanely popular these days).

Then, in the early 90s, the group switched from a brilliant combination of guitars, piano and saxophone to purely guitar music (although Nautilus would try to return to the previous style), and the lyrics became more religious and philosophical.

By the mid-nineties, Nautilus was approaching its collapse. What caused it - only one person can say for sure. In 1997, the group gave a magnificent acoustic concert at the Palace of Culture. Gorbunov and announced its disbandment. And the release of the immortal film “Brother”, which is filled with Butusov’s music, can be attributed to the same period. Just as this film became a symbol of the era, just as Danila Bagrov, performed by Sergei Bodrov, became the hero of our time, so the songs of “Nautilus” ideally suited the popular feeling of the dashing nineties.

For a long time, Vyacheslav searched for himself in the vastness of the new musical reality called show business. They say that it was show business that ruined Nautilus, and, unfortunately, it is so. Personally, I am very sad that the group's once global popularity has now been reduced to zero. Although one day Butusov was able to reach the top again - it was the magnificent song “Girl Around the City” - the leader of all kinds of charts, a song that was loved by those who had not even heard of “Nautilus”. This happened after Vyacheslav Gennadievich, having dabbled in writing songs with children's texts, decided to found a new team - “U-Piter”.

Yesterday the program “PROPERTY OF THE REPUBLIC” was broadcast on Channel One. It featured 11 of Vyacheslav’s best songs, and needless to say how small this list is. Even if one day a program with thirty best pennies is aired, it will still not be enough.

And yet, it was great! It got so bad that I went to bed feeling completely spiritually exhausted.

Well, why is man built this way? Why is he so drawn to something that later makes him very sad? And the saddest thing is that you don’t understand what exactly is wrong. And you get incredible pleasure, and you’re killed when the concert ends, and you can’t help but watch - then you won’t forgive yourself.

I'm a fan! It would be strange here on sports.ru to deny such a diagnosis. Yes, I'm a fan! And Butusov’s music is religion for me. Not because I attach too much importance to the meaning of the songs, rather the opposite - if it were so, I would live in depression or aggression. I just can’t imagine my life without this music, it’s great in itself, it acts on a subconscious level.

Butusov is fifty. And how I would like it that in fifty or a hundred years he would again go on stage and calmly perform his great music. At least for this reason it is worth inventing the elixir of immortality. So I'll go and do this, and I'll leave you alone with the lines of the Nautilus song, which, in a slightly modified version, are very suitable for our topic:

Don't leave us

Even if you are a pure demon!

Or take it with you

Or stay here -

Don't leave us!

Children

It should be noted that all the children of Vyacheslav Butusov are talented and extraordinary individuals. According to the musician, he regrets that in his youth he paid so little attention to them, and that the eldest daughter Anna practically did not receive her father’s care. In this regard, the youngest Daniil was the luckiest of all - the singer always took an active part in raising his son.

The children of Vyacheslav Butusov are gifted individuals. Much of the credit for this goes to the parents themselves. To develop certain abilities, you need to constantly support the child’s talent and give him freedom of self-realization.

Music career

The biography of Vyacheslav Butusov told us that in 1983, the future star recorded his first album together with Umetsky called “Moving,” but it did not gain much popularity. Two years after meeting Kormiltsev, they released their second album, “Invisible,” which, unlike “Moving,” was made at a professional level.

Together with Ilya Kormiltsev, the musician created another group in parallel with Nautilus Pompilius - Step. They released the album “Bridge” in 1985, which was re-released in 1999 as Butusov’s solo album.

In 1986, Vyacheslav, Dmitry and Ilya recorded another record, called “Separation,” which made their group famous. Local newspapers and magazines began to write about Nautilus Pompilius, and cassettes with their work flew off the shelves. They continued their activities for another ten years.

In 1997, Vyacheslav Butusov, the biography whose personal life is presented to your attention in the article, began independent musical activity. In the same year, together with the former guitarist of the Kino group, he recorded another album, “Illegitimate.” A year later, in 1998, his solo album, called “Ovals,” was released. At the same time, he recorded a song for the film “Brother-2”, where he also starred in a cameo role.

In 1999, he collaborated with Boris Grebenshchikov and took part in the creation of the Terrarium project.

In 2000, Butusov, together with Dead Ears, released the album Elisobarra Torr, which combined the styles of rock and electronic music. A year later, the musician, together with the Kino group, recorded an album called “Star Puzzle”. Later he formed the group “U-Piter”, which consisted of the guitarist of “Kino”, former members of “Aquarium” and “Caught Anteaters”. The group released their first single in 2001, and in 2003 they released a full-length album. In 2004, the group released another album, called “Biography”

In June 2008, U-Piter released the album “Mantis,” and in 2010, “Flowers and Thorns.”

The group released its latest, fifth album in February 2015. Its name is “Gudgora”.

Daughter Anna

The eldest daughter Anna has long found herself in her favorite profession. Contrary to all expectations, the girl did not follow in the footsteps of her architect parents. Anna is a makeup artist. In addition, she is an employee of a trend bureau, which researches the latest trends in fashion.

Vyacheslav and Anna Butusov

Anna's personal life is no secret. In 2014, she married the famous Moscow photographer Alexei Nikishin, who mainly photographs Russian celebrities. By the way, he also captured Vyacheslav Butusov at one time.

Daughter Ksenia

Ksenia graduated from the Faculty of Arts of St. Petersburg State University with a degree in Acting. The girl intends to conquer the stages of the capital and St. Petersburg theaters. She enjoys dancing and horse riding. In 2012 she became a debutante at the Tatler Ball. By the way, Ksenia was the host of Butusov’s anniversary concert at Crocus City Hall.

Today the musician is a happy grandfather. At the end of 2013, Ksenia gave birth to a wonderful girl. The parents chose a beautiful and unusual name - Divna.

Daughter Sophia

The young girl is reluctant to share her plans for the future. Sophia draws well and loves to spend her free time with her family. She once thought about enrolling in psychology. Nothing is known about Sophia's personal life.

Vyacheslav and Sofya Butusov

The girl made her debut as a model at the show of the Italian brand Peserico. At the opening of the boutique of the same name, together with other fans of the brand, she took part in the trunk show of the autumn-winter collection.

First steps to glory

Already in his first year, Vyacheslav Butusov met Dmitry Umetsky.
The young man turned out to be a fellow student. Both were seriously passionate about music and got together and played more than once. It turned out that Slava has a pretty good voice, but Dmitry has good English, and, moreover, a lot of scarce records. The newly-minted musicians selected melodies; the favorites were the Western “Led Zeppelin” and “Credence Water Revival”, as well as the domestic Konstantin Nikolsky and “Sunday” and “Time Machine”. During their final years, students recorded an amateur album called “Moving.” However, it turned out to be not very successful. Immediately Vyacheslav met with Ilya Kormiltsev. Together with him, Butusov recorded his first professional record in 1985. It was called "Invisible".

An all-consuming passion for music did not prevent Butusov from graduating from college. And then everyday work began - Vyacheslav worked as an architect at a design institute. By the way, the musician designed the Sverdlovsk metro. And as he explained later, “this affected the sick appearance of the interior of some of the stations.”

Vyacheslav Butusov - I want to be with you

Life was routine and hopeless. Every morning Slava went to work, but spent his free time with Umetsky in the Sverdlovsk rock club.

The next fruit of the tandem appeared a year later - the album “Separation”. It was he who laid the foundation for the all-Russian popularity of the Nautilus Pompilius group. “Separation” showed the musicians that they can no longer “run away” into creativity; they need to pursue it professionally. Dmitry Umetsky recalled that the choice was not easy for both. After all, both were already raising children, and besides, rock was almost an obscene word in the country. However, priorities were set, and the musicians wrote a statement of their own free will to leave their main jobs.

In 1987, a boom began around the album “Separation”. And “Nautilusomania” swept almost the entire country. The next two years continued a continuous touring marathon. But at the end of 1988, Butusov officially disbanded the group and decided to resume work on joint work with Umetsky, who left the group a few months earlier. Throughout 1989, the comrades worked on the “Man with No Name” project, recorded the soundtrack, and then the founders of “Nau” scattered for the second time. At this time, Butusov is trying to live in two cities - Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Son Daniel

The youngest son of a rock musician is interested in natural sciences. He even breeds stick insects and butterflies, with which he regularly frightens his mother.
