Popular actor Andrei Leonov: “I’m sorry that as a child I caused my dad so much trouble!”

BIOGRAPHY

Andrei Leonov was born into a creative family. His father is People's Artist of Russia Evgeny Pavlovich Leonov, his mother is an employee of the literary department of Lenkom, Vanda Vladimirovna Leonova.

The decision to become an artist did not come immediately. Andrey says: “My father’s merit is that he never dragged me into acting, did not force me, did not put pressure on me. This was not in his character. When I was little, they didn’t take me to performances, but I attended my father’s rehearsals and concerts. At the same time, I did not consider myself a theater child. But at some point something changed in my mind. Becoming an artist was my choice." In 1976, Andrei became a student at the Higher Theater School. B.V. Shchukin (course of Alla Kazanskaya).

Immediately after graduating from the institute, the actor was accepted into the Lenkom troupe. After working in the theater for 2 years, Leonov made an unexpected decision to leave the theater and join the tank forces. “I served in a tank unit. For three months I drove a battalion commander in a UAZ, and the rest of the time I drove a shovel rather than a tank. However, all the other soldiers did the same,” recalls the actor.

It was here that Andrei Leonov had the opportunity to methodically work on himself, honing his acting skills. However, the young actor had to learn a lot on his own. He attended his father’s performances almost regularly, and therefore, willy-nilly, he copied the acting models of the People’s Artist of the USSR. As the actor himself admits, in his youth his main dreams were two performances - “The Legend of Tila” and “Not on the Lists.” Andrei dreamed of one day going on stage and playing together with other theater artists. And one day his wish came true.

The main thing in this performance is to find the right relationship with my colleagues."

INTERVIEW

About father

“As a child, he was just a dad to me. The understanding that he was a great actor came much later, when I came to play in the theater. And then my idols were Viktor Proskurin, Nikolai Karachentsov and others. I saw Proskurin in the play “Not on the Lists” and “The Thief,” and Nikolai Petrovich in the brilliant play “Til.” These performances seemed fantastic to me. So dad, as an actor, was a little on the sidelines for me.”

About family upbringing

“First of all, there must be love in a family. Nothing will work without her. And also a respectful attitude towards each family member, no matter whether he is seventy, forty years old or four months old. After all, what makes a family a family? When all its members look in the same direction. From childhood, a child should see a model of the relationship between dad and mom, then it will be easier for him to create a family where everything will also be built on love and respect.”

About television

“In fact, films and series that are broadcast on television are not always negative. Another question is that all kinds of “shooters” destroy the psyche, especially children’s. Therefore, in order for television not to be harmful, the state must monitor what is shown on screens. And don’t delegate this role to private companies that benefit from showing violent movies, scandalous talk shows with “stars,” and sometimes something much worse.”

The most famous and beloved role of the father of many children was found by Leonov in 2007. It was then that the producers invited the actor to act as a psychotherapist for Sergei Vasnetsov. The project instantly became popular; the 19th season was released a few years ago.

The popularity of the sitcom is explained by many by its incredible “vitality”, because it presents typical difficult situations, and then finds a way out. All this is presented in a kind and comedic manner, so the series has become interesting to adults as well.

For this role, the artist received several awards and universal recognition. The STS channel captured the actor for a long time. After “Daddy’s Daughters,” he starred in the modern version of the fairy tale “Twelve Months,” the film “My Boyfriend is an Angel,” and others.
