Baysarov is a regular participant in the rankings of Russia’s richest businessmen: at the beginning of 2020, he was in 112th place on the Forbes list. The entrepreneur did not inherit a fortune of nine hundred million dollars and did not win the lottery. He created his capital from scratch. He rose to the business Olympus not because he had a noble origin, but thanks to:
- business acumen;
- professionalism;
- hard work;
- constant self-improvement;
- life experience;
- healthy ambitions;
- determination.
Baysarov Ruslan Sulimovich is a classic example of a self-made man. His outstanding personal qualities and determination contributed to his achieving tangible success in various seemingly unrelated sectors of the economy:
- energy;
- oil refining;
- construction.
The main thing is in the details
Baysarov Ruslan Sulimovich is one of the richest businessmen in Russia; he is consistently included in the ranking of the influential Forbes magazine. Last year he took 118th place, the entrepreneur’s total wealth was estimated at $900 million.
The entrepreneur devotes almost all of his time to family and work and appears extremely rarely at social events. Here are just some interesting facts about Ruslan Baysarov:
- The entrepreneur manages to find time for hobbies. He is fond of horse riding and loves skiing;

- The businessman has a long-standing and strong friendship with director Fyodor Bondarchuk (pictured), who was one of the founders of Infant Silver.
The main value in life for an entrepreneur is family. On big holidays, numerous family members always gather at his house in the Moscow region.
Childhood. Youth
Ruslan Baysarov's entrepreneurial spirit was noticed by his parents even in his childhood, which he spent not far from Grozny in the village of Prigorodnoye, where a large family lived.
Sulim and Kasirat Baysarov raised their children in strict traditions - they did not allow anything unnecessary, they taught them to respect their elders, and instilled a love of work. They lived amicably, but modestly. To help his family, Ruslan came up with the idea of buying cheaper apples from the local state farm and selling them at the market at a higher price. Even then, the future millionaire learned: if you want to make money, use your head and take risks, because a bold start is half the success.

She smiled at him again when a secondary school graduate, Baysarov, entered the Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering and, between sessions, began selling imported computer equipment and components, which were in short supply for the mid-80s. The business was so successful that the enterprising student was again able to send money to his parents and even made his first start-up capital, which he later used for his own club and restaurant business in the metropolis.
He returned to the capital after being demobilized from the Armed Forces. He successfully completed his studies at the Oil Institute of the city of Grozny, from which he emerged as a trained engineer-economist.
Leader since childhood
Ruslan Baysarov had to make his way to the pinnacle of success on his own: his biography is a classic example of how a person, with due diligence and great desire, can achieve what he wants. The future businessman was born on August 9, 1968 in the Chechen village of Prigorodnoye near Grozny in the then Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The family was large, but the parents of little Ruslan, Sulim and Kasirat, tried to pay enough attention to each child.
Traditional Caucasian upbringing left a deep imprint on the personality of the future entrepreneur. Since childhood, he has absorbed the value of such concepts as
- family
- friendship
- caring for one's neighbor.
Baysarov's male character was forged by the street. Ruslan grew up as an active and lively child, in the yard among the boys he was known as a confident leader, he was never afraid to stand up for himself and stand up for others. He will go far, the elders said about him.
Baysarov had money in his pocket since childhood. In Prigorodny, Ruslan went through the “school of a young businessman.” The family did not live well, and the young man helped his parents as best he could. He bought apples from the orchards and resold them, contributing to the family budget.
First steps in business
The early 2000s were a time of change and new opportunities for many.
Ruslan Baysarov did not miss his lucky chance when he risked changing his field of activity and moved into the oil business. First, he opened an oil refinery, which, according to Wikipedia, annually processed about 1.5 million tons of oil and supplied gasoline to two thousand gas stations and government agencies. A year later, the successful businessman moves to the Moscow Fuel Association to the position of vice president. For the next ten years, Ruslan Sulimovich directs all his strength and knowledge to the development of the largest companies in the Moscow region related to the production and sale of oil and gas. Baysarov is trusted with high positions in such companies as:
- Moscow Oil;
- Central fuel;
- Moscow Oil and Gas.
At this time, the businessman managed to significantly increase his share of presence in the oil market by acquiring the assets of Sibir Energy, which were later sold to Gazpromneft for $740 million.
[edit] Business career
Like many ambitious and resourceful young people who began their careers during the perestroika period, the entrepreneur connected his first business with the restaurant and entertainment sector. The aspiring businessman earned funds for his first projects back in the mid-80s, when he was studying at university. An enterprising student sold computers with Russified software. In 1997, Ruslan Baysarov and his partners created:
- beauty saloon;
- one of the first Japanese restaurants in Russia;
- gambling establishment;
- night club.
Ruslan Baysarov is still friends with his first business partners; together they organize charity projects, although they do not particularly promote this area of activity. Thus, the media reported that in 2009, as part of a charity evening, Ruslan Sulimovich Baysarov purchased a lot for 200 thousand euros, which became the largest in the auction. The funds were used to treat sick children.
But this was much later, and in the late 90s it was important for a beginning entrepreneur to find his niche to apply his talent to entrepreneurship. Ruslan Baysarov created his own company for oil refining and fuel supply. At the turn of the 2000s, this business became a core business for the businessman. In the late 90s, Baysarov became vice-president of the Moscow Fuel Association, which united about fifty specialized organizations. Then he held top positions in the largest fuel companies in the Moscow region.
Coal and construction industry
A new stage in the life of a businessman of Chechen origin began in 2011, when several factors came together into a single puzzle:
- many years of experience gained while working on the development of the energy market;
- studying at a construction university;
- engineering degree;
- serious capital.
When it came to the development of the largest Elegest coal deposit in Russia, Ruslan Baysarov, having assessed all the nuances of the large-scale project, invested his main assets in the Tuva Energy Industrial Corporation and subsequently headed it. Now future coal mines in Elegest are called the “coal Klondike”. It has become a striking example of a new stage in the development of the entire coal industry in Russia, which will further strengthen the position of the East Siberian region and give impetus to the comprehensive rise of the Far East.
Founder of TEPK JSC Ruslan Baysarov
Today, TEPK JSC is implementing several projects in the Far North that are related to the investment sector and directly affect the development of industrial energy. They will undoubtedly provide additional incentives to the country's economy and will contribute to its successful development in the near future, as well as in the long term. Among them:
- laying the first railway line in Tyva from Elegest to Kuragino via Kyzyl;
- construction of a mining and processing plant at the Elegest deposit;
- work on the construction of a transshipment terminal in the Khabarovsk Territory.
In 2020, the businessman acquired a 25% stake in the construction holding GC SK Most.
A year later, Baysarov increased his authorized share to 56%, becoming a controlling shareholder and heading the company’s board of directors. Since then, the giant enterprise has become even more energetically involved in the implementation of complex projects related to the construction of bridges, tunnels and subways of federal importance. It’s hard to imagine, but Ruslan Sulimovich Baysarov also knew how to combine his career successes with scientific activities. In 2001, he received a master's degree in sociology from Moscow State University. In 2020, he defended his dissertation at MISiS, becoming a candidate of technical sciences.
On the student bench
After graduating from school, the smart and inquisitive guy did not have to worry about choosing a future path. He firmly decided that he would go to university. He passed the exams without much difficulty and joined the ranks of students at the Civil Engineering Institute in Moscow.
A year later, there was a sharp turn in Baysarov’s life: the time had come to repay his debt to his homeland, and the 18-year-old boy was drafted into the army. After serving the required two years, Ruslan decided to continue his studies, but no longer in Moscow. The future entrepreneur returned to his native republic and entered the Grozny Oil Institute, where, by his own admission, he always wanted to study.
The academic path of the businessman did not end there. Ruslan Sulimovich Baysarov managed to combine his rapid career with his studies: in 2001, according to Wikipedia, he became a master of sociology at Moscow State University. And 13 years later, already a well-known and successful businessman, he defended his PhD thesis at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys.
Transport is the key to economic development
If the projects behind the successful entrepreneur Baysarov are flagged, they will be scattered across almost the entire map of the country - from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin, from Yamal to Altai.
The TEPK joint-stock company and the SK Most holding company do not have secondary projects, but they do have the most striking and complex ones. Take, for example, the construction of the Elegest-Kyzyl-Kuragino railway with a length of more than 410 kilometers. In Tyva, the future highway is called nothing less than the “road of life,” since it will connect the republic with the federal railway line of the Trans-Siberian Railway, and the distant region of Eastern Siberia will receive a new impetus for its development due to the transportation of coal from the Elegest deposit. Its reserves are estimated at 855 million tons.
Considering that the volume of transportation by road is about 15 million tons of cargo per year, the railway line will be busy for 60 years. It is noteworthy that the general contractor for the creation of the infrastructure of the new railway will be Russian Railways. According to Ruslan Baysarov himself, the company’s rich experience will minimize the implementation time of the most important project for the entire transport communications system of the country and will turn Tyva into the logistics base of the entire Eastern Economic Corridor.
Experts note that the investment project is incredibly difficult to implement. To build a highway, you will have to cross impassable taiga, mountain ranges and wide rivers. To lay the rails, you will have to drill 8 tunnels through stubborn rock and build 127 bridges.
The higher the goal a person strives for, the more respect he commands. So Ruslan Baysarov boldly takes on the implementation of the most complex projects, and the more extreme they are, the more interesting it is for him. Knowing the responsibility with which a businessman approaches business, the state has repeatedly entrusted Baisarov’s structures with important objects, such as:
- construction of double-track tunnels for new stations of the Moscow Metro;
- construction of the 2nd Baikal tunnel;
- work on modernization of the BAM and Trans-Siberian lines;
- or road and rail bridges across the Amur, which will bring China and Russia closer.
By the way, the bridge between the two countries in the area of the village of Nizhneleninskoye, Jewish Autonomous Okrug, will be the first and unique. Its specificity is that it is designed both for the passage of Russian trains with a gauge of 1520 mm, and for the passage of Chinese trains with a gauge of 1435 mm. The Nizhneleninskoye-Tongjiang bridge will become a factor in strengthening economic ties between the two countries. As the head of the SK Most holding company noted, this unique engineering structure will make it possible to straighten the railway route between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, making it shorter by more than 1.7 thousand kilometers.
Family, children, hobbies
Neither Ruslan Baysarov’s busy schedule nor constant business trips prevent him from finding time to communicate with his children and take part in their upbringing. A father with many children teaches his four sons and two daughters to adhere to the same strict rules that his parents once set for him. All the entrepreneur’s children learn the Chechen language, observe national traditions and often visit their father’s house in the Moscow region.

The children are very friendly with each other and, if possible, they celebrate each other’s birthdays together or go on vacation, for example, to ski resorts, where their father teaches them to ski, which he himself adores. Another hobby of the businessman is horse riding.
In his eldest son Denis (pictured), born in marriage to actress and singer Kristina Orbakaite, Ruslan sees his main assistant and even business partner. They discuss the details of business projects together, especially since Denis, like his father, received an economic education - in 2020 he received a bachelor’s degree in business and international economics. The news that the eldest son continued his master's studies and intends to strengthen his knowledge evoked his father's praise.

Personal life
The businessman's first wife was Tatyana Kovtunova. The model gave birth to a girl for a Chechen entrepreneur. Having become parents for the first time, Tatyana and Ruslan Baysarov named their daughter Kamila.
In 1997, Ruslan Baysarov met Kristina Orbakaite. Although she and Orbakaite were not registered under Russian law, their relationship was recorded in accordance with Muslim custom. Ruslan Baysarov and his wife Christina were very happy. Soon the couple had Dani.
Young Alina Tsevina, who is related to the modeling industry, gave birth to Ruslana’s son Ilman.
In 2009, Ruslan and Christina filed lawsuits in different courts in order to determine Dani’s place of residence. In the end, everything turned out to be a settlement agreement, according to which Dani could independently decide with whom he should live.
The girl Julia gave birth to a daughter, Dali.
In 2009, Ruslan married a Chechen girl from his ancestral village of Prigorodnoye, who bore him two sons - Amir and Amin.
It is known that Baysarov treats children very kindly. Moreover, Ruslan Baysarov spends all significant holidays, such as Christmas and New Year, as well as every vacation with his children. One of the wealthiest representatives of the Chechen Republic prefers leadership in business, although, despite this, he remains an exemplary father. Four huskies and two Labradors live in Ruslan’s house.
Good deeds of Ruslan Baysarov
Like many famous people, Ruslan Baysarov does not advertise his charitable activities, but information that the businessman allocates funds for the treatment of seriously ill children nevertheless becomes public knowledge. One of these cases was reported by journalists who were present at a closed charity party, during which Baysarov purchased a lot worth 200 thousand euros. The entire amount went to the treatment of children with cancer, and as the businessman admitted, he is happy that his money saves children's lives.
The reason for the divorce from Christina and the battle over the child
A big event in the world of show business was the separation of the famous couple. They, like many people, could not leave peacefully.
The reason for the separation of the couple was the ardent character of the Chechen man. He became jealous of his beloved woman and a fan after the concert and publicly insulted Christina, and then hit her hard, causing serious injuries.
Ruslan fought for the child and did not go to peace. Since the couple was not married, according to the law the son belonged to the mother. Baysarov could not agree with this; he even wanted to place the child in a closed private school and, thanks to his connections, make sure that Orbakaite never saw him.
Christina even wanted to secretly take the boy out of Russian territory. But everything calmed down when her ex-husband had a new passion - Alina Tsevina, who bore him another son. Ruslan gave Pugacheva a luxurious apartment as an apology, and Denis left the choice of who he wants to live with.
