Alla Dukhova: “When you are constantly among young people, you feel young too”

Biography

Alla Vladimirovna Dukhova was born into a family of teachers at the very end of autumn on November 29, 1966. Her birthplace is the distant village of Kosa, located in the Perm region. However, it so happened that the parents did not stay in this place for a long time, moving to the capital of the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic, the city of Riga. It was there that the future dancer spent her happy childhood years.

As one would expect, Alla grew up as a talented child. Very early, her relatives noticed her craving for music, which prompted them to send the girl to the Riga Music School. It was there that she first saw professional choreography. Repeatedly after finishing her lessons, Alla secretly sneaked into the classroom and watched how other children learned to dance. Afterwards, at home, she repeated the remembered movements in front of the mirror. It was then that her mother decided to give the child the right to choose, asking what the girl really wanted to do more: music or dancing. We all know very well what Alla chose then.

Realizing that her beloved daughter was seriously interested in choreography, her mother took eleven-year-old Alla to the local ensemble “Ivushka”, where the girl fell into the hands of excellent teachers. This is where her great path to success began. Teachers praised Dukhova’s technique, her determination and pronounced talent, thanks to which Alla quickly increased her category.

The circus became a new milestone in the career of the future celebrity. Having come one day as a spectator to a performance, a sixteen-year-old girl realized that she wanted to perform in the circus arena. And surprisingly, she quickly managed to gain the favor of the management, after which Alla Dukhova received permission to participate in one of the attractions and became, albeit for a short time, a full member of the troupe.

Unfortunately, the girl’s life soon changed dramatically. At one of the performances, she broke her ankle, after which doctors banned her from dancing.

In order to somehow survive, the girl got a job at a factory producing mopeds, where her mother worked. However, Alla could not get the dream of dancing out of her head.

The early years, childhood and family of Alla Dukhova

Alla Dukhova was born on November 29, 1966 in the small village of Kosa, located in the Komi-Permyak district of Russia. However, the future dancer practically did not live in this place. A year after the birth of their daughter, her parents moved to Riga, where, in fact, our today’s heroine spent her childhood.

Alla Dukhova worked in a pioneer camp in her youth

It was in Latvia that the future celebrity began to show an extraordinary passion for dancing. Starting from the age of eleven, Alla studied in a variety of dance studios and choreographic ensembles. She was praised by teachers and recognized figures in the art of dance. Her success increased, and therefore quite soon the young dancer began performing with groups of older ages.

When Alla was in tenth grade, a circus came to Riga on tour. The dancer came to the first performances as a spectator, however, by a happy coincidence, she later managed to get backstage. The decisive role in this case was played by the acquaintance with the daughter of the main trainer.

After a short conversation, Alla Dukhova managed to catch the eye of the circus director, and therefore, quite unexpectedly, she managed to get a job on one of the circus attractions. Alla Dukhova gladly accepted the offer to collaborate with the circus troupe, and therefore very soon set off with the team on a new tour.

Subsequently, the circus settled in Moldova. A huge number of people always came to the performances of the group in Chisinau. Alla Dukhova participated in almost all performances, and therefore very soon managed to become a real star of the local circus troupe. Her career was moving upward, but one day all previous successes were erased by a serious ankle injury. The doctors' verdict was disappointing - it was necessary to end my career in the circus.

Anniversary of Alla Dukhova At this moment, a dark streak came in the life of the young dancer. Our today's heroine began working as a janitor, and subsequently found a job as a freight forwarder at a moped production plant. At that time, the girl was depressed, and therefore rarely came out of her state of depression. However, at one fine moment, the same dancing helped to escape from difficult thoughts.

Even before she came of age, the girl began teaching in a children's dance group at one of the Soviet pioneer camps. Working in a new capacity gave her great pleasure, and therefore Alla Dukhova always gave her one hundred percent in her classes.

The diligence and work of the young teacher was appreciated by figures of Soviet art, who once invited the girl to work in one of the Houses of Culture. Here our today's heroine created her first dance ensemble, “Experiment,” in which she began performing together with her sister Dina. The main direction for the dance group was breakdancing, which had just appeared in the Soviet Union.

Amazing audiences with their unusual dances, Alla and her sister often became winners of prestigious grand prix at various festivals and competitions. Her first successes began to bring the girl considerable profit. The Experiment group performed in various parts of the Baltic states and other regions of the USSR, and therefore at one point her favorite hobby became a stable source of income for Alla.

Ballet "Todes"

In her youth, as now, Alla Dukhova was a very ambitious person. And, of course, she couldn’t just come to terms with the end of her brilliant career.

Coming out of depression, the girl decided to return to choreography and, together with her sister Diana, they joined the ensemble with the self-explanatory name “Experiment”, which promoted the new revolutionary direction of break dancing in the late eighties. It was Alla’s presence that made the unknown group popular. Young people toured the cities of the Soviet Union a lot, winning various competitions and becoming owners of prestigious grand prix.

In 1987, during a regular tour in the small town of Palanga, located in western Lithuania, members of the Experiment group met Leningrad dancers who called themselves the Todos team. These guys also practiced breakdancing, but they failed to achieve serious success in this field.

After communicating with each other, the dancers decided to join forces and create a single team, which they called “Todes”. From the first day, Alla Dukhova was his leader and ideological inspirer. It is thanks to her irrepressible energy, choreographic and teaching talent and high organizational skills that “Todes” has become a real brand in the dance community.

Alla Dukhova - personal life, husband and children

Alla Vladimirovna Dukhova - biography on Wikipedia, personal life and Instagram photos, family, husband and children are of interest to many who are fascinated by the talent and skill of this extraordinary woman. After all, Alla Dukhova is not only the founder and mentor of ballet, which is known throughout the world, but also represents an inexhaustible source of inspiration for those involved in the vibrant world called TODES.

And it all started very prosaically. Alla, who was assigned to a music school by her parents, could not indifferently pass by the class where children were doing choreography, watching all the movements of the teacher, and then repeating them at home in front of the mirror. And when her mother, who noticed this, asked her what she wanted to do, the girl answered without hesitation - choreography. And since then it has become the main thing of her life.

But Alla’s dream was not only to dance on stage, but also to stage choreographic numbers herself, including performances. It is not surprising that already at the age of 16 she organized the “Experiment” group, which included only girls. And oddly enough, it gained considerable popularity, which is explained by Alla’s unusual approach to dancing. After all, then, in the early 80s, she took as the basis for her productions the achievements of American and Western European choreography, which were then under an unspoken ban in the USSR.

While performing with her group at one of the dance festivals, Alla Dukhova meets St. Petersburg breakers who call their men's group "Todos", and after a while the idea arises to unite these two groups under the leadership of Alla. This is how the now well-known ballet “Todes” was born in 1987, and Alla Dukhova has been its permanent leader and inspirer for more than 25 years. Over the years, the team has reached unprecedented heights and has become a cult, in fact, a phenomenon of the Russian scene.

Despite the fact that “Todes” constantly performs both in Russia and abroad, and Alla Dukhova devotes all her time to it, she also organized a network of schools for those who want to learn the art of dance. And today Alla Dukhova’s dance (ballet) school, the first of which opened in Lefortovo (Moscow) in 1998, already has more than 100 branches not only in Russia, but also abroad. Dukhova personally selects teachers for schools, who must have training not only in the field of pedagogy, but also in psychology, because they have to work with children whose age starts from three years. In addition, the schools accept absolutely everyone, regardless of their level of preparation, age and physique.

But this is not all of Alla Dukhova’s achievements. In 2014, the TODES Dance Theater was opened, changing the audience’s ideas about what professional ballet could be, and marking the beginning of a new era in the world of modern dance.

The official website of the Alla Dukhova Theater contains all the information about the performances of the group, schools and the theater itself. When photographs of her appeared on the Internet, where she really looks amazingly young and slender at 49 years old, many women became interested in how Alla Dukhova lost weight.

In many interviews, she shared her weight loss secrets, which are not complicated:

Personal life

Not only a successful creative biography, but also her personal life, as well as children, has always been of great importance for Alla Dukhova. However, the choreographer does not like to talk about his relationships with men.

Fans know that Alla Vladimirovna had two husbands. The first marriage took place when Dukhova was only 22 years old. The wife's name was Sergei and he was successfully involved in programming. This union produced a son, Vladimir. However, the family broke up soon after the boy was born. Then Alla’s husband decided to emigrate to the United States, but Dukhova, on the contrary, wanted to stay in her homeland.

The woman's second marriage also turned out to be fruitful. In a civil marriage with Anton Kis, lighting designer for the ballet “Todes,” Alla gave birth to another son, Konstantin, in 2002. Unfortunately, this relationship also could not be preserved, and some time ago the family broke up.

During school years, parents also noticed that their child was interested in dancing. After lessons, she often lingered at the entrance to the choreography class and watched the dancing girls for a long time. When she arrived home, she could repeat exactly what she saw. Having learned about this, the parents decide to enroll Alla in the Riga Music School in order to develop an ear for music.

Then the daughter said that she dreams of connecting her life with dancing. And then another column appeared in the biography of Alla Dukhova: a member of the folk dance group “Ivushka”.
