Biography and personal life of Evgeny Evstigneev

The biography and personal life of Evgeny Evstigneev, a great artist, began in Nizhny Novgorod - his hometown. Father - Alexander Evstigneev and mother - Maria Evstigneeva were workers at the plant.

When the war began, the boy managed to complete only seven classes, after which he also went to work at a factory to help his mother. To relax, on weekends Evgeniy performed at an amateur theater. This was probably the main step towards Zhenya’s decision to become an actor in the future.

He graduated from the capital's theater university, and began working at Sovremennik, and later teaching at the Moscow Art Theater. The actor’s personal life cannot be called very happy. In total he had three wives.

Work in the theater

In 1955, Evgeniy, together with other students of the Moscow Art Theater School, took the initiative to organize the “Studio of Young Actors”, and on its basis they later created the new metropolitan theater “Sovremennik”.

In 1956, after receiving his diploma, Evgeniy joined the Moscow Art Theater troupe. In parallel with his work in the theater, with his like-minded people, he was rehearsing the production “Eternally Living”, which was supposed to open the first season of “Contemporary”. In this performance, Evstigneev played the role of Chernov and in 1957 he moved to Sovremennik, where he worked for fifteen years.

He played his starring role on the stage of Sovremennik in the production of The Naked King. After the main role of the King-Groom, Eugene woke up famous. In the queues at the capital’s theater box office one could meet people with signs: “I’ll buy a ticket to The Naked King.” True, the Soviet press criticized the performance, and rumors even spread about the closure of Sovremennik. But the theater was saved by Ekaterina Furtseva, who took the post of Minister of Culture; she was loyal to the work of young actors.

During his time at Sovremennik, Evstigneev played about thirty characters. Not all of them were the main ones; the actor preferred secondary, but characteristic and bright characters. The last role on the stage of this theater was Doctor Dorn in Chekhov's “The Seagull”.

In 1971, Evgeniy went to work at the Moscow Art Theater, making his debut with the role of Volodya in the production of “Valentin and Valentina”. Theatergoers in the capital filled the auditorium to capacity when Evstigneev took part in the performances:

  • Sobolevsky in “The Copper Grandmother”;
  • Chebutykin in “Three Sisters”;
  • Khlynov in “Warm Heart”;
  • Serebryakov in "Uncle Vanya";
  • Tobacco in “Mother-of-Pearl Zinaida.”

The ex-wife of Evgeny Evstigneev is Galina Volchek

Volchek and Evstigneev studied together at a theater university, and were even on the same course. Evstigneev was the first to start courting her, but the girl did not respond to the persistent guy’s attentions for a long time. Ultimately, Evstigneev finally achieved his goal - the couple began dating, and then they got married. Their family lasted ten years, after which they fell apart - feelings cooled down, and life became boring.

The ex-wife of Evgeny Evstigneev, Galina Volchek, remarried after some time. Like her first husband, she is a famous theater and film actress, as well as an acting teacher.

The ex-wife of Evgeny Evstigneev is Liliya Zhurkina

Having divorced his first wife, Evgeniy was not alone for long. Within a couple of years he had married again. Once again it was a fellow actress. The couple worked together in the theater where Evstigneev performed. It is noteworthy that the ex-wife of Evgeny Evstigneev, Liliya Zhurkina, was much younger than her husband - a little more than 10 years.

It’s a little sad that after the wedding the woman had to leave her job at Sovremennik, since Evgeniy’s first wife was also among the actresses of this theater. The actor lived with her for 23 years. But towards the end of their family life, the woman began to get sick often. Eugene took care of her, but she eventually died at the age of 48.

From mistress to wife

The actor's second wife was Lilia Zhurkina. She met Evgeniy at the theater and immediately turned his head with her beauty. The man fell in love and began to show signs of attention to the girl. Lilia did not like Evstigneev at all at the first meeting. But gradually she began to get used to his attention and accept his advances. At the time they met, both were married.

After Galina kicked Evstigneev out the door, nothing stopped him from openly courting Lilia. He got a divorce and proposed to his beloved. She agreed, but the couple was able to formalize their relationship two years later, when Zhurkina’s husband agreed to a divorce.

Lilia and Evgeniy became husband and wife. The girl found family happiness, but at the same time lost the chance to become a famous actress. She was considered a homewrecker and was no longer invited to roles in theaters and films. Scandals began in the family over this.

The birth of a child did not help the situation at all. Evgeniy spent a lot of time filming, and Liliya became addicted to alcohol due to lack of demand. Lilia died when she was only 48 years old. Evgeniy took the loss very hard. His heart couldn't handle it and he had a heart attack.

Evgeny Evstigneev’s wife – Irina Tsyvina

Probably, the years spent with his second wife, her illness and addiction to alcohol at the end of the woman’s life, exhausted Evgeni very much. So much so that when he decided to marry for the third time, he chose a girl who was old enough to be her father! He was 35 years older than her.

Many colleagues in the acting workshop did not understand Evstigneev and considered it wrong, but the man’s friends claimed that it was with this girl that Evgeniy was truly happy. Evgeny Evstigneev’s wife, Irina Tsyvina, lived with her husband less than his other wives - only 6 years. I dreamed of having a child for him, but it didn’t work out. Also an actress, even after the death of her husband, she continued her career. Just like him, she got married two more times. She also has two children.
