Among the variety of entertainment programs on TNT, the only thing missing was dancing, and for the first time the idea of ​​​​bringing the best dancers of the country on one stage was voiced in 2012. According to the creative producer of “Dancing” Armen Ohanyan:

“It was an obvious idea for us, it’s strange that no one came up with this before.”

Preparations for the launch of the project took place over 2 years. It was necessary to develop a concept, come up with a “trick,” select mentors and a presenter, and most importantly, gather participants. On August 23, 2014, TNT aired the 1st season of the show “Dancing”.

The essence and rules of the project

To reach the finals of the “Dancing” project, participants need to overcome a long path, which begins with castings in cities. In each season, the creative team tries to expand the geography. So, in the 1st season, the mentors watched numbers in 6 cities of Russia: Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Kazan and Moscow. In the 2nd season, the most extreme point of the Far East - Vladivostok - aroused interest.

By the 5th season, the route of “Dancing” went far beyond the country - to Belarus and Israel. Castings took place in 15 cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Tyumen, Nizhny Novgorod, Naberezhnye Chelny, Omsk, Minsk, Krasnodar, Ufa and Tel Aviv. It is noteworthy that filming from 8 cities was broadcast.

Anyone between the ages of 16 and 35 can come to the first stage of the “Dancing” project, although this rule has been repeatedly violated. The mentors allowed 12-year-old Lil Di and Lil Po, 14-year-old Alexandra Kiseleva and Nikita Alekseev, 42-year-old Olesya Shendrik, 43-year-old Olga Repina into the next round.

The performance at the casting should last no more than 1.5 minutes. It doesn’t matter whether the choreography is original or learned from a video on the Internet. After all, as the mentors say, they are looking for performers who can repeat other people’s movements.

However, the director's flair is a point in favor of the dancer. Thus, Dmitry Maslennikov, a member of Yegor Druzhinin’s team in the 2nd season, became a choreographer in “Dancing” in the 4th and 5th seasons, and Maxim Nesterovich, Miguel’s ward in the 2nd episode, led him side by side with the choreographer season 1 team to victory. Plus, artists who have an understanding of the dramaturgy of dance are given the opportunity to stage a solo number on their own and thereby stand out from their competitors.

To pass the casting, a participant only needs to hear the cherished phrase “You are in “Dancing”” from at least one jury member. Castings in cities allow you to choose 100-200 capable dancers from thousands of participants. They move on to the next qualifying round - work in classes.

Here the tests can be very different. At master classes, choreographers show a dance piece in any genre - contemporary, hip-hop, ballroom dancing, jazz, which participants need to learn in a few hours and show on stage. Some people have a hard time improvising, so this challenge was canceled in Season 3. But the most difficult stage is group choreography. Participants are divided into teams in random order and, to the music given to them, they compose a full-fledged performance: they invent everything from drama to costumes.

Based on the results of the qualifying rounds, mentors form teams. In seasons 1-4, 2 groups of 10-12 people competed. Since in the 5th season, for the first time in the history of the project, 3 mentors sat down at the jury table at once, 3 teams of 6 people each entered the dance battle. These dancers are the best, and now their fate is decided not only by their mentors, but also by the audience.

Every week, after competitive concerts, where artists perform previously prepared numbers, audience voting begins. Before the 3rd season, it was possible to give preference to dancers, including in a paid way, using SMS. The TNT-online application is currently working to receive free votes.

Based on the number of votes, the best dancer of the week is determined, as well as three candidates for elimination from the project. Before the 4th season, before the start of the concert, guest jury member Sergei Svetlakov, a film and television actor, could save one participant from each team from elimination. The choice between the remaining artists was made by the mentors based on the results of the concert.

In Season 5, a rule was introduced according to which a mentor could take on a eliminated participant from another team. The right could be used once per project.

The storm followed after the public decided that the weakest participant at the end of the week was Dmitry Maslennikov, one of the favorites of the project.

“My friends, wake up, come to your senses! We have a professional dance show. What are you voting for? For mutual likes, for romances on the Internet? I don't intend to continue working like this. Let the producers decide what to do with this situation, and I'll leave. But I will not leave alone, but with my team,” said Yegor Druzhinin.

Just before the start of the 4th season, it became known that Egor Druzhinin would not participate in the project. The choreographer explained the departure by the impossibility of “dispassionately making decisions regarding the departure of the participants.” Tatyana Denisova was invited to take his place.

The choice of the winner of the “Dancing” show is also influenced by the viewer - the one who gets the most votes receives the title of the best dancer in the country and a prize of 3 million rubles. It is characteristic that a girl has never become a winner: the project is watched mainly by representatives of the fair sex, who choose pretty dancers rather than professional dancers.

She is the “mother” of the project: she stands up for the participants, encourages them before performances, and shouts “Let’s take it!” from behind the scenes if she sees potential in a dancer.

For example, a participant from Chelyabinsk, Anastasia Malysheva, danced, as it seemed to Miguel, modestly. Instead of immediately sending the girl home, the mentor invited her to dance again.

Tatyana Denisova, a fan of the classics, joined the project in the 4th season, replacing Yegor Druzhinin. She incurred the wrath of viewers by recruiting a team of “beautiful people.” In the 5th season, the jury table became crowded: after a year-long break, Yegor Druzhinin returned to the project. The 5th season was not without absurdity. Once, before a performance by Mark Kuklin, Lera Babayan and Alexey Letuchy to the song “Forget-Me-Not” by Tima Belorusskikh, Denisova handed out themed headbands with petals to the mentors. "Dancing. Children"

A request to create the show “Dancing. Children” was voiced by 11-year-old Glasha Golubeva. The girl came to the casting in Rostov-on-Don in the 3rd season, but did not dance. The young participant noted:

“There are many children in Russia, both older and younger than me, who can dance even better than those who appear on this stage.”

Children” Yegor Druzhinin agreed to work with children, but doubted whether the children were ready for such a psychologically complex project. The mentors promised the girl to join a dance project for children if TNT producers made such a decision.

The producers of Comedy Club Production, satisfying the interest of the younger generation in creativity, in 2020 announced a casting for dancers from 9 to 15 years old. A full-fledged show has not yet been released, but on December 10, 2016, TNT showed a special episode “Dancing. Children". The concert was attended by the 10 best children selected based on video applications.

Dance winners on TNT are welcoming another top prize-winner into their ranks in 2020.

It becomes the charming public favorite Dmitry Shchebet.

24-year-old Dmitry is a native of the city of Ridder, Kazakhstan. I started dancing quite late, only at the age of 13. After graduating from high school, he graduated from the Ust-Kamenogorsk College of Arts. Dmitry is an active participant in battles both in his region and beyond. The young dancer and choreographer organized his own group “Devils Crew”, with which he performed successfully. At the Blockbuster Theater, Dmitry Shchebet was able to hone and develop his artistic talent thanks to the artistic direction of Konstantin Dikhanov. Dmitry managed to star in the Kazakh film “Forbidden Dances” and took third place in the Ukrainian television project “Everybody Dance!”

All the dance winners on TNT have fully justified their title, continue to actively improve and delight the audience with the art of dance.

Show "Dancing" now

There are rumors that the 6th season of the “Dancing” project will be released in August 2020, but there is no confirmed information about this yet either on the mentors’ social networks or on the official website of the show. Most likely, the assumptions are born from a pattern: every year, at the end of summer, castings for “Dancing” are held.

In the meantime, choreographers are working on their own projects. Egor Druzhinin, together with Dmitry Maslennikov, is recruiting artists for the musical “Vinyl”, Miguel is focused on the “Pro Dance” school. Tatyana Denisova is taking a break from everyday work before a new “battle”.

I wanted to take part in the project back in the first season. He successfully passed the casting, but was never able to participate in the show itself. He returned to the project in season 3, where he became one of the finalists.

Now he conducts master classes, appears in videos and works with famous artists. At the beginning of 2020, it became known about Litvinov’s wedding with his beloved Ekaterina, and a few months later information about her pregnancy appeared online.

The “Dancing on TNT” project played a huge role in the lives of these artists: now they are all well-known dancers throughout the country with excellent careers.
