Childhood. Choice of profession
Dmitry Petrovich Shcherbina was born in a maternity hospital in Baku on October 1, 1968 into a Cossack family. After the death of his father, the future artist, along with his mother and older sister, moved to Minsk.
Until the 9th grade, young Dima was one of the best students at school. His photograph was not removed from the honor board. Perhaps everything would have continued like this if sport had not appeared in the life of the future actor, and he had not begun to get seriously involved in football. He began to devote all his free time to this sport. The gold medal that Dima once went for was no longer out of the question. The boy began to do his homework less and less often. From an excellent student, Dmitry Shcherbina turned into an ordinary average student.
A few years later, the future artist realized that football was not for him.

Military service and studies
After school, our hero goes to study at a vocational school, choosing the profession of a car mechanic. There he is very active in the cultural field: he organizes discos and hosts various events. Even then, many noticed that the boy had creative potential. “You should be an artist,” his friends and acquaintances told Dmitry.
Soon the boy himself realized that he wanted to become a cultural figure: act in films, perform on the theater stage. These thoughts never left him. And everything turned out so successfully and fatefully that it was at that moment that Dmitry Shcherbina was entrusted with becoming the host of a large concert held as part of a vocational school. The future actor coped with this task perfectly, due to which the director of the educational institution met him halfway and wrote a recommendation for admission to the Minsk Theater Institute. However, our hero did not manage to study there for long - he was drafted into the army.
Shcherbina served in the airborne troops. There he mastered hand-to-hand combat skills, which later came in handy for filming.
Having repaid his debt to his homeland, Dmitry Petrovich entered the Moscow Art Theater School. The leader of his course was theater and film actor Leontiev Avangard Nikolaevich. From the very first year, the future artist began to learn the real school of life: there were no places in the dormitory, so Dmitry had to live at train stations. This went on for a quarter of a year, until a friend of our hero invited him to live in his abandoned apartment.
The theatrical path of an actor
In 1993, Dmitry Shcherbina became a graduate of the Moscow Art Theater School. However, our hero began to play in the theater a year before graduating from school. In 1992, Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov (Soviet and Russian actor and director) noticed him and invited him to join the troupe of the Tabakerka Theater Studio.
Since 1995, Dmitry Shcherbina has been an actor at the Theater named after. Mossovet. There he managed to perform several wonderful performances: “The Black Bride, or Romeo and Jeanette”, “No joke with love”, “Dear Friend” and others. In addition to working at the theater. Mossovet, the artist takes part in productions of the International Confederation of Theater Unions (ICTS).
By the way, after the hero of our article left the Tabakerka Theater Studio and moved to the theater. Mossovet, his communication with Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov completely stopped.
Theater
Dmitry turned out to be a promising actor, and in 1992, Oleg Tabakov, artistic director of the Tabakerka theater studio, noticed his talented performance and invited him to join his troupe. The artist happily agreed and, as a student, made his debut in the play of the legendary director.
Dmitry Shcherbina in the theater
Soon a serious struggle unfolded for Shcherbina: his thesis work attracted the interest of director Mark Weil. He invited Dmitry to the production of “No joke with love.” The inspired actor came to Tabakov and asked permission to play on the stage of the Mossovet Theater, but he was categorically against the guy’s participation in other projects.
In 1993, Shcherbina graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School and continued collaborating with Tabakerka, but left 2 years later.
Dmitry Shcherbina on stage
According to the actor himself, he did not have a good relationship with this institution, and he simply could not create there anymore. Dmitry wrote a statement and 2 days later met with Weil, who almost led the talented actor by hand to the Mossovet Theater. The management of the institution approved Shcherbina’s candidacy, and since 1995 he became one of the leading artists of the theater. The actor also often played in enterprises, for some time taking part in the play “Nameless Star,” but due to organizational gaps he was forced to leave the project.
Dmitry's talents appealed to some foreign directors. The eminent Englishman Declan Donnellan invited the actor to the Twelfth Night project. A special feature of the performance was its exclusively male cast. Later, the director involved Shcherbina in the play “Boris Godunov”. The artist expected to play Grishka Otrepyev, but Donnellan had his own vision of the film, the master offered the actor the role of Prince Kurbsky and turned out to be absolutely right in his choice.

Dmitry also played in the production of “Hamlet” by the equally famous director Peter Stein. Here the troupe encountered some problems: among the foreign languages that the master spoke, there was no Russian, and the actors communicated with him through an interpreter.
Film career
Dmitry Shcherbina received his debut film role while still studying at the Moscow Art Theater School. At the age of 24, he got the main role in the film “Three Days Outside the Law” (dir. Timofey Spivak). In this film, a young student played the paratrooper Andrei, who is waging a brave fight against criminal gangs. A few months later, Dmitry Petrovich will star in his second film - “Diamonds of the Shah” (dir. Boris Nebieridze).
Significant changes in the biography of Dmitry Shcherbina will occur in 1995, when he plays the master Berestov in Alexei Sakharov’s film “The Young Lady-Peasant Woman”. It was this role that would bring him his first fame. The film itself was no less successful. “The Peasant Young Lady” managed to win many different prizes at various film festivals.
