Childhood and youth
Georgy Aleksandrovich Dronov is a native Muscovite. He was born in April 1971. No one in his family is involved in cinema or television. At home the boy was called Yegor. Friends and relatives still call him that way.

Georgy grew up as an ordinary Moscow guy. Yegor was not friendly with the exact sciences with which his father was associated. Therefore, the parents’ desire for their son to enter the Bauman State Technical University seemed illusory. Dronov Jr. was more inclined towards the humanities. Therefore, after graduating from school, on the advice of his parents, he decided to enter the capital’s Institute of Culture, where he chose the directing department.
During his studies, Dronov realized that he not only wanted to stage plays and make films, but also try himself as an actor. Therefore, after graduating from the directing department at the Moscow State Institute of Cinematography, he entered the Shchepkin School, where he studied at the acting department in Korshunov’s workshop until 1996.

After the release of the film, Dronov expected that the directors would bombard him with new proposals. But six months later, he realized that he should not wait for offers, but look for the role himself.
Thus, Yegor appeared in the comedy “Special Purpose Resort”. Dronov played the role of an actor. In the story, the scammers forced the artist Venya Kolpakov to pretend to be a doctor in order to lure money from five patients with bizarre diagnoses and hopes of a sudden miraculous cure at a non-existent elite resort. According to the law of the genre, at the end of the film, the patients recovered, the scammers were punished, and the main character improved his life and met the girl of his dreams.
At the same time, the actor received the main role in another comedy project “Sasha + Masha”. This series made the artist and his co-star Elena Biryukova popular, although they themselves did not expect such success.

After the sitcom “Sasha + Masha,” Georgy continued to play both in comedy films and in films of other genres. With his participation, the historical drama “Satisfaction” and the blockbusters “Night Watch” and “Day Watch” were released. One of the brightest pages of the artist’s filmography was his work in the crime series “Mad”. The main character of the series is the girl Dasha, a senior detective at the Department of Internal Affairs of the Siberian city of Shantarsk. Daria has extraordinary intelligence and appearance, knows martial arts and organically does not tolerate injustice due to the fact that she herself became a victim of crime in childhood. The girl resists crime so zealously that she received the nickname Mad.

Dronov’s hero is Dasha’s partner, operative Tolyan, aka Anatoly Petrakov. Together with the main character, Tolyan works in Klyuev’s department, and is also famous for his ability to easily “unravel” witnesses and victims.
The most popular of the subsequent works was the comedy series “Voronin”. The audience loved it so much that more than 20 seasons have already been released. The film began as a Russian-language copy of the original American sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
However, in the 10th season, the American material ran out, so the 11th and subsequent parts are considered an original Russian product. The series is filmed in the genre of a classic situational comedy: the sitcom does not have a coherent storyline or a single clear plot, which allows the release of new episodes with new problems and situations as long as there is a demand for “Voronins” among TV viewers.

Sports journalist Kostya, played by Georgy, lives in the same apartment with his housewife wife Vera (Ekaterina Volkova). The family has three children: daughter Masha and twin sons Philip and Kirill. And in the next apartment live Kostya’s parents, pensioners Nikolai and Galina (actors Boris Klyuev and Anna Frolovtseva), and the hero’s older brother, a policeman and then a policeman Lenya (Stanislav Duzhnikov).
Problems and comical situations in the life of the Voronins began when Konstantin decided to break the wall between the apartments in order to bring the families closer together. Along with the wall, the personal space of the young family also disappeared: the brother began to regularly come in to say hello and ask for help, and the grandparents began to visit their grandchildren and give advice to their daughter-in-law.
Another popular project in which Dronov starred was the series “Happy Together.” In this sitcom, the artist appeared in a cameo role. Here Georgy made his debut as a director.

In 2010, the actor played the main role in the comedy melodrama “Losers.net”. Georgy reincarnated as Alexander Novgorodtsev, the last romantic idealist who was able to achieve success without bending to the demands of dirty business and the cruel world around him.

They simultaneously appear on the screen as direct participants in the events. In 2014, the actor played the main role in the detective series “The Beach.” Dronov's hero is Andrei Aleksandrovich Goshko, a police major and head of the police department of the resort town of Azovsk in the Krasnodar Territory. Together with a friend - a former policeman, and at the time of the series the director of the beach Paramonov, played by Pavel Delong, the policeman solves complicated crimes and solves other unforeseen problems.
In 2020, the actor played a minor role in the comedy “Groom” starring Sergei Svetlakov. The film takes place during the May holidays. The main character invites her German fiancé, whom she met during a trip to Berlin, to visit the village. Nowadays he is a popular person, a favorite of the theater, as well as television and serial audiences. Of course, a sea of charm, cunning and simple-minded characters close to the heart of an ordinary Russian, a lively face capable of giving a hilarious grimace at any moment. He is very sincere and talkative in real life. Although he claims that his character is not at all similar to his Kostya Voronin. Like, sometimes on the court you have to literally “break yourself over the knee”...
“I love my mother just like Kostya,” says Yegor. “But Kostya, if he gets stuck in a stupid situation, then he gets stuck in it to the end.” It's annoying. I also don’t like watching football on TV. — In August we finish the contract and — filming of all the original episodes of “Voronins.” You can imagine, in two years we selected about 9 years of American series.
— Are you thinking about your own sequel?
- It is not that simple. Adapting a ready-made idea is much easier than coming up with it yourself. We have little experience. Well, we always have our “guardian angel” with us, American Jeremy, one of the authors of the original series. He likes it here, and the Americans covered the costs of “keeping Jeremy “in captivity.” In general, our attitude towards sitcoms is not the same as in the West. After all, they filmed their first series in 1934, the genre is more than 70 years old. They film an episode a week and show it once a week. The ratings are fabulous, and so are the profits. Each series is a work of art. Americans say that TV is the future. Spielberg is already ready to shoot television series. And unlike them, we have a flow. In August it will be two years since filming has been ongoing. Katya Volkova even managed to give birth to a child. We are not creators, we are artisans. Although we have no scandals or conflicts. Our TV series mother Anna Vasilyevna brings tasty things to the set and feeds us. Stasik reproaches her, saying that you love Yegor (Kostya) more... This is the second time I’ve been in a family series. I like.
— Words or phrases from “The Voronins” are not fixed in your language?
- Yes, perhaps, except for “Egyptian power”, nothing. Russian swearing is enough for life.
- You came with an enterprise, don’t forget the theater...
- I’m like a microbe, wherever you don’t put me, I begin to assimilate everywhere. But seriously, my first encounter with the theater was decisive. I immediately fell in love with the stage machinery - the grate bars, tiers, bars, the hold under the stage with a turntable... I felt like Alice through the Looking Glass. This feeling of deception, by the way, is wildly destroyed by mobile phones. The third bell rings and the lights go out. The actors begin to create a non-existent world, and then - prpprrprprprpr. And that's it - you already understand that you are standing in disguise. The day before yesterday at our performance, a girl, sitting in the front row, spoke the entire telephone conversation on the phone!
- Why didn’t you make a comment?
— Lena Morozova and I had a love scene in Boeing Boeing. You’re standing there like a crazy person, one half of your brain is rehearsing the performance, and the other is thinking about how to approach this creature now, grab the phone and smash the hell out of it! The theater will always stand apart: a lot of effort is spent here on creating an illusion that is ultimately ephemeral. In cinema there is no such unity with the audience, such communication. There's a camera there and that's it. And behind the camera there is an abyss. That's why Americans add their behind-the-scenes laughter.
— Some viewers are frightened by the word “entreprise.” They are afraid of disappointment.
— I am not at all afraid of the name “entrepreneurial performance” in relation to what we brought here. Because enterprise is different from enterprise. There are chos, and there are very serious performances like our “Boeing Boeing”. I've been on stage for two acts!
— And yet, please advise how the viewer can distinguish between “chos” and non-chos?
- Leave the performance! This was back in Shakespeare's theater. There was an arena where people could even relieve themselves if necessary. They threw money - or didn’t throw it - only later, in the end. When the viewer gets up and leaves, this is his viewer's response. I myself have had occasion to leave performances.
—You have a busy schedule. And yet, how do you prefer to relax?
—
I prefer a stupid “vegetable” vacation: go somewhere to the sea, screw my ass into the beach. And so that there are fewer people. Find yourself in an information vacuum. Although the ideal vacation for me is traveling. Summer will end soon, but my hands are only tanned because they are on the steering wheel. We are in the pavilions all the time, under artificial light. In general, acting is not an easy job; some people can’t handle it mentally. They say the actor got drunk. But a release is required. And producers sometimes treat us like biorobots and then wonder why the actors make scandals, drink... An actor’s instrument is their own nerves. Imagine how many times my Kostya Voronin turned out to be a moron and an idiot? And I have to play it! Costs are the same as for psychics.
— Don’t you play sports?
— I went in for swimming at a sports school until the 10th grade. Now there is not enough time for sports. Recently, however, I returned to the pool. Physical activity is necessary, it relaxes the brain.
- Listen, what should we call you, Egor or Georgy?
- Georgy Aleksandrovich Dronov - official name. The diminutive - as it happens - is Egor. Gosha Kutsenko doesn’t like being called Yuri. And they called me Zhora only at the Institute of Culture. At home they call me Egor.
— You’re not talking about personal things, but it’s impossible not to notice that you have a photo of a doll on your phone...
— Yes, I had a daughter, she is 3 months old. I won’t tell you the name until the baptism took place.
— How do you feel as a dad?
- This is unusual, this is happiness. I think everything happened when it was supposed to happen. When I became old enough.
— Does the experience of the TV series father from “The Voronins” help?
- Yes, perhaps not. In general, the world didn’t turn upside down, there was simply nothing, and suddenly a man appeared. He is not yet independent, but he brings great joy and imposes additional responsibility. In particular, you need to take care of yourself. I worry about the people who drowned on the ship, I’m glad that I wasn’t there. I'm not afraid of flying on an airplane, but you were in a fog and all sorts of thoughts came to mind. In general, as long as everyone is healthy and there is no war, a wonderful phrase from the play “Five Evenings.”
— You usually play simple-minded, “average” people. No desire to play something heroic?
- Eat. Do not give! I think it's a stereotype. I have the role of a typical hero. Over time, I understand that I can play everything, but within certain limits. For example, I have a characteristic gait with bent legs. Not suitable for a hero. An actor is clay, he must constantly keep himself in a “warm”, soft state. From this point of view, working in the series is a huge experience; there are also a huge number of plots. Sometimes they intersect willy-nilly, I was even accused of copying myself from “Night Watch” in the series “Losers.net”. Actually, I have a one-man show ready, if everything works out, I’ll come to Yekaterinburg for the festival of one-man shows.
— What else are you planning, what are you dreaming about?
— I have accumulated a certain number of theatrical proposals. Perhaps there will be new theatrical premieres. And full-length directors shy away from me like hell from incense. It's like it's taboo. They are afraid that Kostya will defeat everyone. But I don't despair. Of the feature films I've watched recently, I wouldn't want to star in any of them. It seems to me that there is a crisis now. My dream is to act with Spielberg and Lucas. I just love fantasy! It’s so difficult to run around in these spacesuits, play, making this world real! Ours don't know how to do that. This is a very difficult genre. Oh, I just wish I could wear this helmet!
— Finally, tell me, who would you like your daughter to be?
“I am not Zarathustra, but an ordinary person who gave birth to an ordinary child.” What if she grows up and becomes a mathematician? I realized that as soon as I start to think that I’ll go on tour and the plane will crash, I understand that I’m just tired. If you suddenly start thinking in this way, yeah, what will happen to me in eight years? What if there is no work?.. This means you are just tired. Because normally you don’t think about it, but simply live every day. I love those people who are next to me now. There will be tomorrow - I will live tomorrow. It's like being in love. What if in 15 years I stop loving this person?!! This is absurd. Just live for today, give joy, think not only about yourself. When you give away goodness, it comes to you in much greater quantities. The boomerang arrives doubled, tripled, etc. Relax, rejoice and live. It turns out it's so easy.

Dronov's first wife (the couple lived in a civil marriage) was Tatyana Miroshnikova. She is an actress by training, but works as a TV presenter for the “Events” program on TVC. They broke up after 5 years of marriage. George was not happy that the woman he loved devoted all her time only to her career, while he wanted home comfort and children's laughter in the house. The TV presenter did not want to quit her job and position, which she came to with such difficulty. Egor and Tatyana parted as friends and do not like to comment on their previous relationship.

George's personal life improved in 2010, when the artist met his current wife Lada. Subsequently, the couple got married, and the wife took her husband’s surname, becoming Lada Dronova. In 2020, the comedy film “Mistresses” was released on cinema screens, in which Georgy Dronov appeared in one of the roles. The film was about three friends whose ex-lovers turned out to be married men. Outraged by the double life of their chosen ones, the girls decided to start a war against such deceivers.
Over the course of several months of screening, the film collected a good box office - $ 4.5 million.
