The biography of actor Andrei Martynov will interest all fans of his work. After all, this is a popular domestic actor who won fame and popularity after playing the role of Fedot Vaskov in the military drama “...And the Dawns Here Are Quiet.” Afterwards, his career included dozens of roles in films and on the theater stage, but audiences still remembered Martynov precisely for this work. You will learn about his fate and career in this article.

Early in life

Andrey Martynov in his youth

We will begin to describe the biography of actor Andrei Martynov in 1945, when he was born in Ivanovo. The hero of our article was born into an ordinary poor family.

Childhood was difficult, since the actor’s father was a disabled person of the first group. He had serious vision problems, due to which he was not drafted to the front. Both parents were teachers. Two more brothers grew up with Andrey - Yuri and Rudolf.

Despite poor eyesight, Martynov’s father remained a big fan of theatrical art. He even went to a circle for actors with blindness. The performances in which the actor’s father took part became the first theatrical productions in Andrei’s life.

Also, the puppet theater, whose actors once performed in his kindergarten, left a great impression in the biography of actor Andrei Martynov. The simple production impressed the hero of our article so much that he even decided to open his own theater. Andrei himself made scenery and puppets, and then demonstrated performances for his family.

During his years at school, his passion for theater only intensified. At one of the competitions, he performed his own production of Chekhov’s story “Gimp”. This played a big role in the biography of Andrei Martynov, because the production turned out to be so successful that all the teachers unanimously began to argue that the boy should go to a theater university.

Admission to the University

The biography of actor Andrei Martynov reports that after his first “audition” he practically abandoned his dream of becoming a theater star. The young man was convinced that Gribov did not notice outstanding abilities in him. He was very surprised when he received a telegram from him with an invitation to become an applicant to the Moscow Art Theater School.

Unfortunately, Andrei did not pass the creative competition then, and the young man’s attempt to enter Pike also turned out to be a failure. Only a year later, Martynov managed to be among the students of GITIS; before that, he managed to work for several months at a construction site as a simple worker.

Meeting with Alexey Gribov

Of course, it was not easy for a young man to get out of the province. The determining factor in the biography of actor Andrei Martynov was his meeting with actor Alexei Gribov from the Moscow Art Theater, who came to Ivanovo on tour.

The hero of our article was 16 years old at that moment. He personally visited the celebrity at the hotel, asking for an audition. Amazed by the boy’s audacity, the capital’s guest did not refuse.

At the appointed hour, Andrei came with a prepared monologue. Gribov did not even listen to him, asking whether the student understood the meaning of the text. The guy began to convince him that this was so, but he was unconvinced.

Gribov took matters into his own hands, demonstrating how this monologue should actually be performed. He liked the persistent young man, so the master shared with him several professional secrets. For Martynov, this meeting was of decisive importance. Communication with a celebrity inspired him and gave him faith in his own strength.

Gribov remembered it too. Soon after returning to Moscow, he sent Andrey a telegram, inviting him to try himself in the entrance exams.

Moscow Art Theater tour

A turning point in the biography of actor Andrei Martynov was the tour of the Moscow Art Theater troupe, which came to Ivanovo led by People's Artist of the USSR Alexei Gribov.

At that moment, the hero of our article was 16 years old. He mustered up the determination to call Gribov at the hotel and ask him to organize an audition. The experienced actor, who had seen a lot in his life, was amazed by such audacity and agreed.

Martynov, with a monologue prepared in advance, came to the Moscow guest and began to read out the material. Gribov soon interrupted Andrei, asking whether he understood the text that was being played out in front of him. Martynov failed to convince the celebrity of this.

Gribov demonstrated how this etude should actually be played, sharing several professional secrets with the young man. Later, Alexey Nikolaevich himself recalled this meeting with warmth, which he remembered for a long time. Moreover, on the same day he introduced Andrei to another famous Moscow Art Theater artist Nikolai Alekseev. And when the troupe returned to Moscow, he sent Martynov a telegram in which he invited him to try his hand at exams at one of the capital’s theater universities. Martynov did just that, after graduating from school, he went to conquer the capital.

Education

Inspired by the master's parting words, Martynov came to Moscow, but failed the exams. For a year after that, he worked part-time in construction, preparing for his second chance.

This time everything went well. He was enrolled in a course with Pavel Chomsky. After the second year, I had to interrupt my studies to serve in the army.

First he was called to the Voronezh region, then transferred to Uzbekistan. After this, he returned to GITIS to complete his studies in 1970.

Personal life

In 1978, Evgeny Martynov married Evelina Konstantinovna. This marriage turned out to be a happy one, thanks to which the couple lived in perfect harmony for 12 years, until the death of the composer.

A boy, Sergei, was born into the Martynov family, and was named in honor of Yesenin and Rachmaninov.

Big screen debut

For actor Andrei Martynov, his first film role turned out to be stellar. A year before his graduation from the theater university, a story by Boris Vasiliev entitled “...And the dawns here are quiet” appeared in the magazine “Yunost.”

It was a sensual and poignant story that told about the tragic fate of a female squad of anti-aircraft gunners led by their sergeant major. When Martynov read this work, he was still a student at GITIS. About a year later, he learned about director Stanislav Rostotsky’s plans to film this work.

It was decided to invite beginner but talented actresses to play the main female roles. Of these, only Olga Ostroumova was already quite famous and popular by that time. But Rostotsky planned to invite Georgy Yumatov to play the role of foreman. He didn’t mind, but during the tests it turned out that he had a completely different type.

An actor was needed who could transform into a simple and strong Vologda man. Yumatov was clearly urban. Vyacheslav Tikhonov was considered another contender, but he had to refuse since filming began in “Seventeen Moments of Spring” with Tatyana Lioznova.

The director's assistant Zoya Kurdyumova suddenly remembered the actor Andrei Martynov. It is interesting that Vasiliev, who was invited to participate in the project and listened to his opinion, did not initially approve of his candidacy. And the director Rostotsky himself was wary of yesterday’s GITIS graduate. Andrei was too youthful; he needed a hero who was much older.

He was still invited to audition. Martynov dreamed of getting this role so much that he struggled with the psychological barrier for a long time; at first he was too tight and constrained in front of the camera. However, the filmmakers agreed that he should be given a second chance. Two weeks after repeated auditions, the artistic council approved the hero of our article for the main role.

The filming itself began only in 1971. It was planned that the film would consist of two episodes, but despite this, it was decided to complete all filming in one summer. Those who participated in the work process recall that it was grueling work. I had to work 18-20 hours a day to accomplish everything that was planned.

As a result, the work was done successfully. According to cinematic tradition, the premiere screening of the film took place in the village of Syargilakhta, located not far from the places where almost all the scenes were filmed. Then the film was shown in Petrozavodsk, since it was filmed on the territory of Karelia, and only after that in the Soviet capital. In 1972, the war drama was released on USSR cinema screens. It was watched by 132 million people.

Cause of death of Evgeny Martynov

The singer's biography ended tragically on September 3, 1990. According to the official version, the cause was acute heart failure, but some facts indicate that this is not entirely true. The singer was riding home in the elevator, but suddenly he felt unwell. They say that he could still have been saved if he had received timely medical assistance, but, alas, this did not happen. The funeral of Evgeny Martynov took place on the fourth day from the date of death at the Moscow Novo-Kuntsevskoye cemetery in plot No. 2.

The composer’s younger brother, Yuri Grigorievich, believes that the artist was “helped” to go to the next world, because he was in the process of suing the people who deceived him. And this seems to be true, because we were talking about a rather “tidy” amount.

The essence of the matter was that Evgeny Martynov was organized on a tour of the Ryazan region, but for some reason they forgot to pay the fee. The contract with the company was officially concluded (on paper), but it was issued to completely strangers. Repeat offenders protected themselves in this way, since it was not easy to prove their involvement in this situation.

And so the composer “very fortunately” died right on the eve of the next meeting, scheduled for September 4. The case was closed, and people whispered for a long time that the death was rigged by those same criminals. According to one version, he was poisoned, and according to another, he was severely beaten, hitting vital organs.

Popularity

Photos of actor Andrei Martynov have since been regularly published in popular film magazines. He gained fame.

In the image of Sergeant Major Vaskov, both the audience and experienced critics liked him. Martynov looked charming and very natural on screen. It is not surprising that thanks to this he very soon won the love of the people.

The picture itself also turned out to be popular and very famous. She won one of the prizes at the Venice Film Festival and was even nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category. However, she was unable to win this prestigious award, losing to the drama “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” directed by Luis Buñuel.

Salt of the Siberian land

In a harsh region, where snow and frost are not conducive to idleness, there is very poor soil for poetry.
However, people raised by harsh nature manage to discern grains of light and beauty through the swirls of a snowstorm. The popular Soviet poet Leonid Nikolaevich Martynov was born on May 22, 1905 in the family of an engineer at the Ministry of Railways. At that time, my parents lived in the city of Omsk. My father was engaged in the design of culvert structures on the railway. Mother worked as a teacher at a local gymnasium. In his free time from official duties, his father willingly worked with little Lenya. I told him Russian folk tales. After some time, he began to retell the myths of Ancient Greece. The boy had an excellent memory and often asked the head of the family for details of plots that his father sometimes simply did not know about. In communication with his mother, the future journalist mastered the German and Polish languages quite well. By the age of four, Martynov had learned to read. There was a good selection of books in the house. Leonid read everything, even those published in foreign languages.

Then he switched to the city library. To get to the city book depository, the boy had to cross the cathedral square and go through the Cossack Bazaar. Here, at the junction of Europe and Asia, in any weather, a luxurious marketplace was noisy and excited. Fox malachai and velvet hats, hats and caps flashed before my eyes. Above the hustle and bustle, the bells of the Catholic Cathedral sounded, the trams rang and the horseshoes clattered. Martynov loved to observe this dynamically changing picture.

Leonid was enrolled in a men's gymnasium, where from the first days he demonstrated commendable abilities in the humanities. Revolutionary events and episodes of the civil war were preserved in his memory to the smallest detail. Martynov, who was still a teenager, happened to run into the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Russia, Admiral Kolchak. Two friends were boating on the Irtysh and “cut off” a boat with an admiral on board. Due to their youth, the high school students got away with this crime. Although Martynov and his friend were pretty scared.

Further career

After this success, they began to regularly invite people to star in Andrei Martynov’s films. In addition, he managed to achieve some success on the theater stage.

He began his career at the capital's Theater for Young Spectators, from where he retired in 1972. His next place of permanent work was the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. Here he repeatedly received leading roles in key productions. It is believed that he was especially successful in the image of Chichikov in the production of “Dead Souls” based on the poem by Nikolai Gogol. The director was Anatoly Efros.

National recognition

The drama “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” was presented to the audience in 1972; the film won the hearts of an audience of millions. Of course, actor Andrei Martynov also “woke up famous.” The biography and personal life of the newly minted star of Soviet cinema began to be of great interest to fans and journalists. Andrey’s character surprised me with his incredible naturalness and captivated me with his masculine charm.

It is not surprising that the drama “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” was awarded an honorary award at the Venice Film Festival. The nomination for the prestigious Oscar was not long in coming.

"Eternal Call"

Eternal Call

The next stage of his career was filming in the Soviet drama series “Eternal Call”. It was a film adaptation of Valentin Ivanov's epic.

The film told about the fate of the Savelyev brothers. It was a biography of the history of an entire family, stretching over several generations. Martynov received the role of Kiryan Inyutin. Initially, it was not even a minor, but a tertiary character. But Martynov worked on him so much that the director agreed that Kiryan should be made one of the key characters.

Film roles

Actor Andrey Martynov

Further, Andrei repeatedly starred in various TV series. For example, he played in the multi-part detective drama “The Investigation is Conducted by Experts.” Also, fans of Soviet cinema remember him from his work in the melodrama “We Lived Next Door” and the drama “White Bim Black Ear.”

Participation in the military drama “The Battle of Moscow” was significant. It was a real epic filmed by Yuri Ozerov. Here Martynov was lucky enough to work on the same set with Emmanuel Vitorgan, Mikhail Ulyanov, Juozas Budraitis.

Martynov remained a sought-after actor even after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 1991, he played in the historical drama “Tsar Ivan the Terrible,” embodying the image of Malyuta Skuratov on the screen. He continued working on this character in the film “Tsarevich Alexei”.

Family

Birth of a son

Soon an important event occurred in the personal life of the actor Andrei Martynov - his son was born. They named him Alexander. He also chose a creative profession, becoming a theater artist.

Biography of Andrey Martynov

Now he lives in Germany, so the hero of our article sees him infrequently. Sasha went to Berlin to get an education. Franziska also moved with him. As a result, they decided to stay in this country.

Martynov tried to live abroad, but could not. He was constantly drawn to his homeland. This was a difficult page in the biography of actor Andrei Martynov. The family did not want to return to Russia. He had to accept their decision. As a result, he had to separate from his wife due to disagreements about where to live.

In Germany, Francis met a new man. Andrey also tried to rebuild the relationship, but it didn’t work out for him. His son Alexander already had three children - Nicholas, Maxim and Helen.

It should be noted that a marriage with a foreigner was condemned by Martynov’s management and colleagues. For example, it was for this reason that at one time he had to resign from the Youth Theater. Other artists literally organized psychological persecution for him. Andrey never wanted to delve into intrigue and gossip. It was easier for him to quit.

“ROTARU CONSIDERED THAT HE CHEATED ON HER”

– Was Elya close to the musical environment? Did she understand her husband’s feelings?

– Zhenya met Elya at a concert in Kyiv. She and her friend went backstage to another musician, and Zhenya just “fortunately” stood next to him. He had just sung his “Alyonushka” for the first time, the audience received it well - and there was such a pretty girl standing right behind the scenes. Well, he fell in love.

However, the difference was not only in age, but also in social status. Martynov was the most popular artist at that time. This is judging by the fees that came from the authors' society - in 1975-1978 Zhenya was the absolute champion.

Elya then studied at the Kiev Music College, but she did not go further than her studies. After the wedding, her job became to spend her husband’s money.

- How much did Martynov earn?

– A popular song brought the composer up to five thousand a month. And Zhenya had several such songs - just count them. When his brother decided to get married, some friends dissuaded him. Some kind of greedy interest was visible.

I remember the words of his older friend, the poet Andrei Dementyev, that it is not worth marrying young people. True, Dementyev himself later married a girl much younger than himself, but then he was right. In my opinion, my brother did not have the strong rear that a family should have in difficult times.

– With Andrei Dementyev, Martynov wrote his brightest hits – “Swan Fidelity”, “Alyonushka”. But soon the creative union broke up. What happened?

“Then every song had to be punched through. Dementyev and Martynov made all their hits - “Swan Fidelity”, “Alyonushka” together: they took the rap at artistic councils, visited the editorial offices of Central Television. But over time, Andrei lost his passion. He got involved in everyday life and began building a dacha.

At artistic councils, Zhenya had to answer for two people - both the composer and the author of poetry. But the problem is that the officials had no questions about the music. But because of flaws in the verses, the song was not broadcast. And what will Zhenya do? He transfers criticism to Dementyev, who swears at “stupid officials.” But there’s no point, the song doesn’t go on air.

And one day Zhenya couldn’t stand it. He arranged a meeting with Lapin himself (chairman of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company), but Dementyev did not come. My brother freaked out a lot then. With tears and swearing, he threw the phone on the floor, left the house and got drunk in a restaurant. After this incident there were no more contacts with Dementiev.

– There was another significant participant in this union – Sofia Rotaru. Why did she stop performing Martynov's songs?

– Sofia was supposed to perform Zhenya’s song “The Spell.” But it turned out that the brother simultaneously offered it to Nadezhda Chepraga, and she took it and sang it faster to Rotaru.

Sofia then stated that she does not sing songs from someone else’s voice. And this meant a break - Zhenya seemed to creatively cheat on her. Although Martynov never wrote songs for a specific artist. He offered it to everyone. Whoever does it better, let him sing.

Now he lives alone. This is not easy, if any health problems arise, you have to agree to hospitalization, since there is simply no one to care for the actor.

The hero of our article admits that he is afraid of inheritance hunters. Therefore, he does not want to commit himself to any relationships.

Personal life and family of the actor

The People's Artist of the Russian Federation has one wife and only child behind him in his family life. The chosen one was German citizen Franziska Thun, who agreed to live in Moscow after her wedding with Andrei Martynov.

In this happy family union, which lasted several years, a son, Alexander, was born. And the breakup took place after the family moved to Germany, where the Russian soul of the domestic actor could not get along.
