Veronica had a beautiful voice and excellent hearing. At first, the girl demonstrated her musical abilities in school amateur performances, but soon the future actress was noticed and invited to sing in the studio, which was led by talented teachers Sergei Zhdanovich and Nelly Ambartsumyan.

The successes of the young singer were such that the girl seriously thought about a career in this direction. But after weighing the pros and cons, the girl gave preference to the acting profession. Veronica entered the Belarusian Academy of Arts, where she chose the theater department. She successfully completed her studies in 2006.

One hundred bags of leaves and three trucks of snow: how the film about Kupala was made

Sputnik correspondent Alesya Shershneva spoke with the actress about her attitude to life, the Belarusian theater and work “for love and for money.”

“I am closer to diplomacy than revolution”

— In December of this year, the premiere of the national film project “Yanka Kupala” is planned, in which you played the role of actress, writer and revolutionary Pavlina Myadelka. How do you feel about your heroine?

“Unfortunately, there is very little information about her, but I read everything I could get my hands on. She was a woman who attracted men's attention and enjoyed it. This attitude is to some extent close to me, because we are both actresses.

As for her activities and civic position, it is obvious that she was a strong and fearless person, ready to commit serious actions. In this regard, I don’t dare to draw parallels with myself: I am an apolitical person. This does not mean that I am not interested in the fate of my people or the world situation. It’s just that at my core I am a pacifist and am of the opinion that everything possible should be done to avoid war.

Veronica has been playing the role of Katarina in The Taming of the Shrew for 14 years.

I am closer to diplomacy than revolutionary sentiments, which often lead to numerous casualties.

— After the trailer premiered, audience feedback was mostly positive. However, criticism can hardly be avoided due to the modern fashion of scolding everything Belarusian. How do you feel about this position?

— It seems to me that constructive criticism has disappeared from us. People either retell the plot, or say that everything is bad, but do not provide any arguments. I haven’t seen a detailed analysis for a long time either on the Internet or in the press. But this is the work of critics, and they do it to the best of their ability. As we are.

We worked honestly, based on our understanding. I hope the audience will watch with enthusiasm, what about the critics? It's their business.

“The modern viewer does not like to suffer”

— Over 14 years of working in theater and cinema, how has your attitude towards criticism towards you changed?

- At first, of course, it breaks you, especially if you don’t agree with it. But the voices fade away, you go on stage and see that the audience is with you. And everything becomes unimportant, because after all, the main critic is the viewer.

- But in this case there is a danger of following the lead of this main critic...

- Now is the time - everything is aimed at entertainment. The audience does not like to suffer, so there is less and less serious drama on stage. Although there are very talented projects, for example, Art Corporation and Homo Cosmos. They stage interesting experiments, but we must not forget that this is not a repertory theater.

Veronica has been working on stage with Sergei Chekeres for more than 14 years

In repertory theater everything is much more complicated. Now the building of our theater (National Academic Theater named after M. Gorky - Sputnik note) is undergoing renovation, so we have to perform on someone else’s site. But now our theater is on the verge of changes - we will add new, more serious productions, make the viewer think.

— What projects are on your checklist today?

— Thank God, there is work (smiles). Now we are finishing work on the second part of the film “Traces of the Apostles” directed by Sergei Talibov, we have finished the dubbing of the film about Yanka Kupala, the film “Adventures of Prancisha Vyrvich”, we are preparing to present a New Year’s musical for children in December. Well, at the same time, I am involved in several Russian projects.

- Musical? How interesting is this work after serious and, one might say, monumental roles in films?

The Belarusian audience enjoys watching the musical “Ding-dong, I am your mother!” based on the famous Soviet film fairy tale “Mama” - songs from this film became real hits

— This musical is based on the famous Soviet film fairy tale “Mama.” The songs from this film have become real hits of all times! Together with my constant stage partner for 14 years now, Seryozha Chekeres and the talented guys from the Syabrynka Pop Song Theater. We will show the audience a new theatrical interpretation of an old fairy tale - favorite musical hits in a modern arrangement, with bright costumes and beautiful choreography.

We wanted to get closer to the original. I hope we can do this.

Theater

In the same year, the young artist was accepted into the Minsk Gorky Drama Theater. This is where the bright creative biography of Veronika Plyashkevich began. On this stage the girl successfully debuted. For her role as Catherine in the play “The Taming of the Shrew,” Veronica was awarded the prestigious professional award “Kryshtalnaya Kvetka” and a diploma from the XIII Minsk Festival “Listapad.”

Since then, the actress has often been trusted with leading roles in theatrical productions. In Minsk, theatergoers enjoyed attending performances with the participation of Plyashkevich “The Threepenny Opera”, “Valentine’s Day”, “Scattered Nest” and others, where the actress shone.

Movies

In 2007, the artist made her film debut. The first was a role in the film “Shield of the Fatherland.” This role was played so masterfully that directors, not only Belarusian, but also Russian, noticed Veronica and began to actively invite her to their projects.

In 2011, Plyashkevich starred in two films – “The Kiss of Socrates” and “At the Crossroads”. In the latest melodrama, the actress played her first starring role - Catherine.

This work was a real breakthrough. It’s amazing how a city girl managed to get used to the image of a village girl so organically. From the moment the film was released, the cinematic biography of Veronica Plyashkevich, as they say, rushed upward by leaps and bounds.

The following year, 2012, Plyashkevich starred in a record number of films: the girl appeared in 10 projects at once. Moreover, in 4 of them - in leading roles. The melodramas “And the Snow Whirls...” and “The Witch Doctor”, the mystical adventure film “Traces of the Apostles” and the war film “Death to Spies. Fox Hole" brought Veronica popularity. In the last project, the actress played on the same set with Pavel Trubiner and Anatoly Rudenko.

In all these films, Veronica Plyashkevich starred in star roles. But fans of this artist’s talent especially note the action-packed war film of 2013, “Don’t Leave Me,” where the girl starred with a real star of Russian cinema, Alexei Guskov. According to the film's script, the actor was the father of the heroine Veronica.

In 2014, the actress played the main role in the melodrama Beauty and the Beast. The role of a handsome businessman was played by Alexey Anishchenko, and the actress got the role of a monster - a boorish market woman. In this film, the understanding of the monster is rather social, because the actress does not complain about her appearance (the girl’s height is 169 cm, and her weight is still unknown to fans).

Projects for 2020 have also become popular. In the melodrama “Stay Forever,” the actress played the role of lawyer Valeria, who faces a difficult choice. The girl meets businessman Mikhail (Ruslan Chernetsky), who kidnapped his own daughter from an orphanage, and must decide whether the law or the happiness of her loved ones is more important for her.

In the crime film “You Can't Die to Run,” the actress played a complex role that required enormous talent. The girl played the role of twins Alla and Ada, bringing to the screen the characters of two completely different girls: a successful head of a fashion house and a poor artist.

Personal life

The Belarusian artist is very easy-going and pleasant to talk to. She willingly makes contact with journalists and is completely open. But she also has taboo topics. The personal life of Veronica Plyashkevich is not discussed in any of her many interviews. The actress does not like excessive attention to everything that she considers a private sphere.

From scattered information found on social networks, it becomes known that Veronica is married. Her husband is a theater colleague Andrei Senkin. Recently, the couple often appears together not only on stage, but also on the set. But the press does not have exact information whether the actors’ wedding took place, and if so, where and when.

Fans of the actress claim that Veronica and Andrey are surprisingly similar and complement each other very much. Their family life is going well. The couple does not seem to have any children yet.

An Instagram account is maintained under the actress’s name, but photographs appear on the page approximately once a month. It is not known for certain whether the account is maintained by the actress or her fans.

Brief biography of Andrey Senkin

The biography of Andrei Senkin began in a small town in the Brest region. Since school, the guy dreamed of becoming an artist, so at the very first opportunity he became a student at the local art school. He received his higher education at the Belarusian University of Arts and Culture.

Having received a higher education as an actor, Senkin began working initially at the Polesie Drama Theater, and later at the Minsk Youth Theater. However, he did not last long in any of these theaters, as he was offered to become a member of the troupe of a more promising theater - the Gorky National Academic Drama Theater.

Among the most interesting and popular theatrical works of the actor are such productions as “I Am Your Bride”, “Mysterious Visit”, “Magic Rings” and others.

It is also known that Andrei Senkin takes an active part in the filming of films. It is noteworthy that he stars not only in Belarusian films, but also in Russian ones. Veronika Plyashkevich now

In recent years, the actress’s work has been dominated by paintings with a social connotation, showing family and women’s problems in Russia and the post-Soviet space.

Veronika Plyashkevich in the film “Let's Get Acquainted”

In 2020, the actress played the main role in the two-part melodrama “Let's Get Acquainted.” The actress’s heroine, Lyubov Solovyova, witnesses an accident in which the woman’s namesake is seriously injured and ends up in intensive care. At the hospital, Lyuba is mistaken for the victim’s wife, and the girl is in no hurry to dissuade the doctors after learning that the man is raising his son alone, who now has no one to look after.

In this image, Veronika Plyashkevich reflected the drama of many women, which today in cinema they are beginning to pay more and more attention to. Lyuba's family life is falling apart. The husband does not take into account the opinion of his wife, humiliates the woman and repeats that no one needs her anymore. The accident incident becomes a reason for the heroine to feel needed and valuable and to end a destructive relationship.

Veronika Plyashkevich in the film “Simpler than Steamed Turnips”

The husband does not provide for the family and beats his wife, so when he is caught in a robbery and goes to prison, Vera divorces her husband without regret and begins a new life, raising her daughter alone. The girl's new life turns into a nightmare when her ex-husband is released under an amnesty.
