Childhood
The story of Anatoly Spivak begins in the pre-war city of Kalinin. Our hero was born on June 29, 1938.
When Anatoly was only three, the Great Patriotic War began, and his hometown was occupied by the Nazis. When the Red Army troops drove the German units out of the city, Kalinin was half destroyed.
Ashes of fires, ruins and death - this is what little Anatoly had to see in the first years of his life, as well as millions of other children of the war.
Becoming an actor
When Anatoly Spivak was twenty-four years old, a branch of the Moscow Art Theater School was opened at the Kalinin Drama Theater, one of the oldest and most iconic provincial theaters in Russia, whose history at that time spanned more than two hundred years, headed by People’s Artist of the RSFSR G. A. Georgievsky.
In 1962, the acting department of this studio school accepted the first seventeen students, including Anatoly. In addition to local stage masters who taught acting skills to students, teachers from Moscow also came to the Kalinin branch to test the first students of their studio during performances before the public.
In 1967, the first graduates of the Kalinin branch of the studio school became members of the drama theater troupe. Among them was Anatoly.
Theater
The young actor Spivak worked in the city theater for only a short time. Soon he left for Moscow, where he was accepted into the troupe of the theater on Malaya Bronnaya.
Anatoly Spivak gave twenty years of his life to this temple of art. Over the years of work in the theater, the actor was involved in such productions as “The Grandmaster's Ball”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Enemies”, “The Golden Carriage” and many others.
The biggest influence on Spivak in this theater was its director Anatoly Efros. Therefore, having become a fairly famous actor, he followed the example of his idol and began directing on his own. In the end, Spivak earned the approval of Efros himself, who allowed him to take part as a co-director of the play “Napoleon the First,” which was based on the play by F. Bruckner.
Famous directorial works of Anatoly Spivak include such performances as “A Taste of Honey”, “Variations of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “Hanna”.
Theater career
The teachers of the Shchepkinsky School appreciated the girl’s talent, so they sent a letter of recommendation to the management of the Maly Theater, and soon Anna got into the cast of the play “The Makropoulos Remedy” based on the play by Karl Capek. This is how her professional theatrical debut took place.

In 1974, upon completion of her studies, the aspiring actress doubted her choice of work, as she received many invitations from different theaters. But Anna chose the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, because its director at that time was the famous Anatoly Efros. Kamenkova had long admired his work, so collaboration with the maestro was a gift of fate for her.
From 1974 to 1992, while working at the Efros Theater, Anna performed 18 main roles in serious dramatic productions based on Dostoevsky, Turgenev and Gorky. Kamenkova became the prima of the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya and the muse of the famous director.

The idyll ended after Efros left in 1992 - without him, Kamenkova’s favorite theater ceased to be interesting. The actress went into the enterprise, that is, she began to collaborate with different theaters under a contract, participating only in certain performances. The 1998 play “Hanna”, directed by her husband Anatoly Spivak, became a landmark for Kamenkova. In this drama, she embodied on stage the image of Hannah Heiberg, the prima of the Royal Theater in Copenhagen and the muse of Hans Christian Andersen.
Movie
The filmography of the actor Spivak, whose meaning of life was theater, turned out to be very small - only four films and six film-performances, original adaptations of theatrical productions carried out through cinema and television.
The film debut of the student at the Moscow Art Theater School in the city of Kalinin was the role of a German in the two-part historical and revolutionary film “We, the Russian People,” which premiered in January 1966.
A year later, Spivak played an enemy officer in the dramatic military film story “Spring on the Oder.”
In June 1969, the melodrama “On the Wedding Day” was released on the screens of the country, in which Anatoly and his partner in the film, actress Larisa Malevannaya, played the main roles. The touching story told in this film has been loved by viewers for almost half a century.

The actor's last film work was a cameo role in the 1990 drama Mary Magdalene.
Films and performances
The first film-performance in the biography of Anatoly Spivak was “Boris Godunov. Scenes from a Tragedy,” released in 1970, where he played a role as an extra and was not even listed in the credits.
In 1971, Anatoly Spivak could already be seen in the television play “The Golden Carriage,” which was soon followed by a cameo role in the production of “Moby Dick.”
Two years later, Spivak played the role of a party committee member in the film-play “A Man from the Outside.”
The last production of this kind was the historical drama “Lunin, or the Death of Jacques” in 1986. In this film-play, Anatoly played the role of the First Uniform.
The screenwriter of this work was Edward Radzinsky, now famous throughout the country.
Anna Kamenkova
Spivak's future wife Anna Kamenkova, a famous theater and film actress, was fifteen years younger than Anatoly.
Cinema entered her life when Anna was only five. Already in 1959, the young actress starred in the film “A Girl Looks for Her Father,” which tells the story of the daughter of a Belarusian partisan. The film received the love of the audience and many prestigious awards at domestic and foreign film festivals.
Then there was a sixteen-year break, and only in 1975 did Anna Kamenkova’s second role in the film “Forest Swing” follow.
Real recognition came to Anna in 1979, when she played the role of Mani in the melodrama “The Young Wife.” For this work, Kamenkova was recognized as actress of the year and received the prize of the XIII All-Union Festival in Dushanbe for best actress.
Anna Kamenkova’s entire filmography includes over sixty films.
Anna Kamenkova and Anatoly Spivak: Long-term loneliness together
For 37 years now, actress Anna Kamenkova has been married to actor and director Anatoly Spivak. It seems that their union was simply doomed to happiness. But family life turned out to be far from a fairy tale. They turned out to be diametrically opposed in character, worldview, and attitude towards life. And yet, Anna Kamenkova and Anatoly Spivak remain husband and wife. What can keep them close?
sudden love
Anna Kamenkova's fate was seemingly predetermined from early childhood. At the age of six, she played the main role in Lev Golub’s film “A Girl Looks for Her Father.” The success after the release of the film was simply incredible, little Anechka began to vying with each other to be invited to act in films. But her parents did not allow her to act, focusing on getting an education.
She was only 9 years old when her mother passed away. Before entering the Shchepkinsky School, Anna Kamenkova lived with her father, who was an excellent teacher, but at the same time a rather tough and oppressive father. He believed that his daughter should become a teacher, and he categorically did not approve of her entering drama school and leaving home and was very worried about it. But Anna, having broken free, was happy. Finally, she could decide for herself how to live and what to do.
After graduating from college, Anya was invited to join the troupe of the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, where she saw Anatoly Spivak for the first time. She fell in love with him almost at first sight, forgetting about her boyfriend. Anatoly captivated her not so much with his appearance, although he was incredibly handsome, but with his talent. Anatoly had many fans, but at the same time everyone knew: Spivak was a convinced bachelor, no one would be able to drag him into the registry office.
To his surprise, he immediately paid attention to Anechka. The girl captivated him with her beauty and some kind of Turgenev touchingness. But he lacked the courage to explain to the young diva. Everything was decided by chance. Anatoly climbed the stairs after Anna, who was so fast that she broke her heel and, in surprise, fell straight into the arms of her beloved man. She almost cried from surprise and embarrassment. He helped her come to her senses and showed her where the theater shoemaker was. In the morning, in the dressing room, Anna discovered a new pair of flat shoes. It was a gift from Anatoly.
The complexities of love
But even when they had been dating for a long time, Anatoly Spivak asked his beloved not to tell anyone anything about their relationship. In 1980 they became husband and wife.
Anna Kamenkova still says with deep gratitude that her husband made her an actress. He tirelessly drew out roles with her, found completely unexpected moves for her, and ensured that his instructions were strictly followed. The young actress unquestioningly obeyed her husband. The older sister Olga, who had a significant influence on the girl, sadly noted that Anya was repeating the fate of their mother: she married a man 15 years older, just as authoritarian and tough.
But the actress never complained. She was happy to grow and learn, learning the secrets of mastery. The only thing that upset her was the lack of children in the marriage. Her pregnancies ended in miscarriages and Anna gave up, because Anatoly so wanted to become a father. To take her mind off this problem at least a little, she, at the insistence of her husband, agreed to shoot in the film “A Visit to the Minotaur.”
When the actress found out that she was expecting a child, she was sure that this time everything would definitely work out. But the doctors’ verdict was inexorable: bleeding and emergency abortion. She came home and began to pack her things for the hospital, almost not understanding what was happening. It seemed that this was the end of everything, she was simply not able to bear a child.
Anatoly, seeing her condition, was able to find the right words and convince her not to rush to conclusions. He found a doctor for her who agreed to save the unborn child. Seryozha was born in 1987.
Loneliness
Her happiness was finally complete. She tried not to notice her husband’s gloominess and enjoy life no matter what. The most difficult time was in the 90s, when films were not made, and she left the theater. Anna Kamenkova was in demand and was sure that she would not be left without work, but the realities of life pushed her to look for new sources of income.
The actress began dubbing films. The most famous foreign and domestic actresses spoke in her voices: Catherine Deneuve, Sharon Stone, Meryl Streep, Barbra Streisand, Larisa Guzeeva, Vera Glagoleva and many others.
She raised her son, learned to drive a car in secret from her husband, and built a country house. There have never been any guests in their family nest; Anatoly Spivak absolutely does not tolerate strangers in the house. Even the son had no right to bring friends.
There was a moment in her life when Anna Kamenkova could no longer tolerate such an attitude and was about to leave her husband. She even left. But a day later she returned, succumbing to his persuasion and promises to change. He did change, but only for a while. But she herself is not going to change anything in her life.
Especially now, when her husband needs her help. Anatoly Spivak has undergone several operations and needs her love and care. However, the actress admits that over the years her husband has become softer, more gentle, and more tolerant. The secret of their long-term marriage, according to Anna Kamenkova, was the love of art and common creative interests. Even today they can talk all night, discussing some role or production. Isn't this happiness?

Acquaintance
Anna’s fate entered the biography and personal life of Anatoly Spivak in 1974, when the girl graduated from the Shchepkinsky Theater School and became an actress in the theater troupe on Malaya Bronnaya, where Anatoly also worked.
For the first time, Kamenkova saw her future husband in the production of “The Golden Carriage” and watched the performance of a handsome, talented and charismatic actor from behind the scenes. She fell in love with Spivak at first sight. He showed gallantry and attention towards yesterday’s student, which very quickly turned into a romantic relationship.
Very soon, Anatoly literally bewitched Anna not only with his masculine charm, but also with his stunning talent. He became a real teacher for Kamenkova, skillfully creating an actress out of her, who was later recognized by the whole country.
In the text you can see a photo from the biography of Anatoly Spivak - the solemn moment of his marriage to Anna Kamenkova.
Personal life
Anna Kamenkova can rightfully be proud of her biography and personal life. Back in 1973, she finally and irrevocably fell in love with her colleague, actor and director of the Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, Anatoly Spivak.
Anatoly Spivak, husband of Anna Kamenkova
By the way, he also immediately drew attention to the young, promising actress, but for a long time he did not dare to admit his feelings for her. When fate itself pushed the lovers into each other’s arms, everything was decided!
After seven years of a passionate, but hidden from prying eyes, romance, in 1980 the couple legalized their relationship in the registry office. Although, like any other marriage, this union cannot be called cloudless. Anatoly Spivak turned out to be a very demanding and even tough person.

However, Anna herself believes that it was he who made her a real actress, helping her to reveal each role in a special way and find unexpected, brilliant solutions.
Kamenkova with her son
Another challenge for the acting couple was the long absence of children. Anna’s relatives believed that the reason for this could be too great a difference in the age of the spouses; no joke, Anatoly is 15 years older than his wife! But Kamenkova and Spivak stubbornly did not give up, and even several miscarriages in a row did not dampen their desire to become parents.
And then, in 1987, a miracle happened! Anna Kamenkova gave birth to a son, who was named Sergei.
At the moment, he is a handsome, successful young man practicing law. He is the pride of his parents. And, although Sergey is not a public figure, on the Internet you can find several beautiful and touching family photos in which Anna Kamenkova and her son look at each other with great love.
Family
The period of romantic relationships was quite long. Only in 1980, after seven years of living together, Anatoly and Anna officially registered their marriage.
They became one of the most amazing artistic couples. In addition to the significant difference in age, they were separated by a complete dissimilarity of character. Anatoly was a taciturn and closed person. Anna was known as his direct opposite.
Their family life was not smooth. Very often she was torn apart by contradictions. The quiet, understandable and monotonous personal life of Anatoly Spivak, a pessimist by nature, before meeting Anna, began to be shattered by the bright colors of the holidays, candles burning on the table, beautiful napkins, sets and various dishes that he did not need at all.
It took more than twenty years for the couple to adapt to each other.
His wife considers absolute devotion to be Anatoly’s most valuable and unique character trait. Anna knows that her husband will never betray, abandon and will do everything for her. Maybe that’s why they, having tied the knot once, are still together.
Artist career
Since 1992, when enterprise productions came into fashion, Anna, whose personal life was going uphill along with her career, began to devote almost all her free time to such performances. Her photos were posted on posters all over the city, and crowds of spectators flocked to the theater wanting to see the amazing performance of the famous Kamenkova.

According to Anna, she fell in love with this man primarily for his talent and strong character, and children and family were secondary components of their happy marriage.

Son
In 1987, Anatoly Spivak and Anna Kamenkova gave birth to a son, Sergei, who suffered through both of them.
The fact is that the doctors gave up on Anna’s women’s health, who managed to survive several miscarriages. It was all due to the inhuman working conditions of the actress, who did not know rest or pause. However, the couple did not accept the verdict of the medical luminaries. When his wife became pregnant again, Anatoly, in desperation, sent her to a midwife he knew. Anna went to the hospital for safekeeping, where she spent three whole months. A miracle happened and God finally gave them a son.
Now Sergei is thirty-one years old. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, one of the largest educational institutions in Russia, managing to independently pass the entrance exams and enter the budget department.
The son is the pride of Anatoly and Anna. The man speaks two languages, is a copyright specialist, and recently has also been working in the independent theater project enterprise, where he plays with his mother.
