Olga Lerman: short biography, photo. Films and TV series

Biography

Olga grew up in a theater family. Her adoptive father is Fuad Osmanov, an actor at the Baku Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun. Mom - Victoria Lerman, assistant director at the same theater.

The girl often performed in children's plays and did rhythmic gymnastics. Olya dreamed of becoming a ballerina, so she entered the Baku Choreographic School. And after moving to Krasnodar, she transferred and graduated from the local choreographic school.

“My parents have worked in the theater all their lives. Mom is an assistant director at the Theater. Samad Vurgun of Baku city. Dad is an artist. When I was little, I often had to perform on stage in children's plays, but I didn’t want to be an actress. I dreamed of becoming a ballerina. And I entered the Choreographic School of the city of Baku, finishing the last three courses in Krasnodar. Closer to graduation, I realized that I didn’t want to devote my whole life to dancing. I danced the final concert and flew to Moscow to enter the Theater Institute,” Olga explained.

Childhood and youth

Nothing is known about the girl’s natural father. From early childhood, Olya was raised by her stepfather, Fuad Osmanov (born in 1964), who was an Honored Artist (of Azerbaijan) of the Vurgun Drama Theater in Baku. He had not only an acting education, but also a choreographic one. Mother - Victoria, worked in the same theater where Faud was, and was an assistant director (head of the production department).

From an early age, the girl grew up in the atmosphere of the theater where her parents worked. Olya often spent time with her grandmother in the village. From an early age, her parents instilled in the girl a love of art. Together with her sister and brother, Olga often appeared on the theater stage as a child and played children's roles in plays. But at the same time, Olga dreamed of becoming a professional ballerina.

From four to seven years old, the girl attended rhythmic gymnastics classes; after several years of study at a comprehensive school, she entered the Baku Choreographic School in the ballet department, where she studied for four years.

Afterwards the family moved to the city of Krasnodar. During this period, Olga realized that in the future she did not want to dance all her life, since she was not one of the first at the school, and she was not ready to dance in the corps de ballet. In Krasnodar, Olya completed her studies at the local choreographic school for the last three years, only in the folk department.

After the final concert and receiving her diploma, Olga flew off the next day to conquer Moscow to enter the capital’s theater university. After college, the girl was taken to the local theater, where she could dance all her life, but this did not suit her.

At first, Olga tried to enter the Moscow Art Theater School, but she failed to pass the competition there. The young professional ballerina was taken to the VTU named after Shchukin, a course with a puppet bias at the Obraztsov Theater. She studied acting in the workshop of the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisovich Nifontov (born in 1957). The fact that Olga knew how to control her body (having graduated from a choreographic school) was a big plus for her in the acting profession and helped her a lot.

Already in her third year, the young actress began acting on the stage of the Academic Theater of Satire in Moscow. The artistic director of the theater at that time was Shirvindt Alexander Anatolyevich. The actress played in such plays: “The Kid and Carlson”, “The Accidental Death of an Anarchist” and others.

During her senior year, Olga played two roles in her thesis “Unlearned Comedy.” The performance was attended by the actress and head of the troupe of the Vakhtangov Theater - Konovalova Galina Lvovna, who recommended that the young actress appear to the artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theater Tuminas Rimas Vladimirovich.

Tuminas liked the young actress and was accepted into the troupe of the legendary theater. The actress left the Satire Theater. In 2011, Olga graduated from a theater university and received a specialist diploma.

Theater

In 2011, Olga Lerman received another diploma from the B.V. Shchukin Higher Theater School. She studied on the course of Yuri Borisovich Nifontov. And in the same year she was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow Theater named after Evgeniy Vakhtangov.

The actress recalls how she got to the theater with Rimas Tuminas: “Towards the end of her studies, Alexander Anatolyevich Koruchekov staged “The Unlearned Comedy” in Shchuk. I played Harlequin and Furious Lover. Galina Lvovna Konovalova (an actress in our theater and also the head of the troupe) came to the performance, then she invited Rimas Tuminas. He came. We talked to him. At that time I had not seen a single performance of his. He just seemed like a good person that I could trust.

But there was one “but” - at that time I was already working at the Satire Theater. I had to confess to Alexander Anatolyevich Shirvindt - they say, this way and that, I want to play in the Vakhtangov Theater. At the same time, I really asked you to leave me my roles in Satire. He refused. Today, of course, I don’t regret anything. There I played the Kid in the play “The Kid and Carlson,” and here I played Anna Karenina.”

  • Bourgeois - “Chasing Two Hares”
  • Mein blondes Baby – “Women’s Shore”
  • Anna - "Anna Karenina"

  • Desdemona - "Othello"

“At the Vakhtangov Theater they are very friendly towards newcomers,” Olga says about her work in the production of “Anna Karenina”. – There is a tradition in the theater: older generation actors show signs of attention to the younger ones. When I released Anna Karenina, Lyudmila Maksakova brought a box that Cecilia Mansurova gave her. She, like Maksakova, once played Anna Karenina. I now keep Anna Karenina’s earrings and other jewelry in it that I wear during the performance.”

Interview

About myself and profession:

“I am happy that I am engaged in a profession that I enjoy. I like to experience different lives on stage, to do things that I may never do. I like to talk about things that I don’t have the courage to talk about in life.”

“Overcoming oneself is also part of the profession. And help in creative searches can be different: today I came up with something, tomorrow someone suggested something, I saw something, I heard something, each time the answers to my questions are solved completely differently. Sometimes they don’t dare. But I know that one day something will happen and the “puzzle” in my head will come together. And it will happen exactly at the right moment.”

About director Rimas Tuminas:

“Rimas Tuminas is unpredictable. It's like a separate planet. Of course, he is a very deep person, he knows how to pull things out of an artist that the artist himself is not even aware of. He can be a dictator, he can shout. While we were rehearsing Onegin, I hated it, and loved it, and was disappointed, and loved it again. After graduation, there was a feeling of gratitude. Of course, I don’t understand everything about his philosophy, but I know for sure that this is only due to my age.”

About choreographer Anzhelika Kholina:

“Angelika Kholina guides the actor, suggests subtleties that are very important to you, what is beneficial for you, and what is better not to do. Finds his own approach to everyone, his own language - this is a rarity now. She taught me a lot, and not only professionally. I taught you to listen to yourself, your body. It’s very interesting to work with Angelica; she choreographs not a dance, but a text. When I’m on stage, absolutely every movement is justified for me, I understand everything I want to say, what I’m living now. It’s important to me that I trust Angelica completely and completely.”

About Anna Karenina:

“When I read Anna Karenina at school, I hated it, it seemed stupid to me - a woman who doesn’t know what she wants. Then I saw her unhappy. Now it seems to me that she is happy - sensual, deceived in her love, but real!!! She will die because she cannot live in make-believe, because she demands everything now. When I re-read the novel in ten years, I will discover something new. Perhaps the opposite of what I think today.”

About the roles:

“Probably every role leaves its mark on the actor. But I would like not to change under the influence of roles, but to learn something from my heroes. Although most often we learn from our own mistakes.”

“I want to play everything. And Juliet, and Ophelia, all the heroines in the world... (smiles). It's even more interesting to play a boy or a monster. I want to try everything while I have the strength and desire.”

About filming:

The actress takes offers to act quite seriously: “We were taught that an artist has no right to refuse, and I agree with this motto. But I wouldn’t want to play in TV series with 500 episodes. I don’t like it when work turns into a conveyor belt - for the sake of money and flashing on the screen. Sometimes I refused.”

About your preferences:

“I love watching movies. The last strong impression was the film Beautiful by Alejandro González Iñárritu. I also go to the theater. I really love “Satyricon” and women’s people. And recently I got to see the Todd Zong Opera. What a delight I felt - I have never seen a better musical, although I don’t like this genre. The lead singer of the group “King and the Clown” sings there. He does it so cool that I really felt catharsis.”

“I love to travel, I want to travel the whole world. I love my friends - even if I don’t have many of them, they are the most dear and beloved to me.”

The main objective:

“I want to remain human in any situation. And never stop developing. Both as a person and as an actress."

Professional activity

Since 2011, the young actress began acting as part of the troupe of the Vakhtangov Theater. From the very first days, the troupe treated the young actress kindly. Olga very quickly made an incredible career rise and began playing leading roles on the legendary stage.

Her first performances were “Anna Karenina” (Anna) and “Eugene Onegin” (Tatyana). Also among the works on the stage of the theater with Olga’s participation can be called: “Othello”, “Nancy”, “Coast of Women”, “Jealous of Herself”. When going on stage, an actress always proves something: to herself, to the audience, to critics and to those around her. Olga was lucky; she didn’t encounter any intrigues in the theater.

The actress learned a lot from director-choreographer Anzhelika Kholina, who believed in her and gave her the opportunity to realize herself. The choreographer invested a lot in the young actress and taught her not only the profession, but also life. Together with the Vakhtangov Theater, Olga toured extensively throughout Russia, Europe, and America.

Olga also collaborates with other theaters. At the Mayakovsky Theater she played in the play “Coming Home” (2017), at the Dobronravov Production Center the actress participated in the production of “Freaks” (2017). At the Arcadia Theater, Olga played in Woody Allen’s play “Millions of Reasons” (2018), directed by Irina Pakhomova.

The actress also worked with the following theater directors: Rimas Tuminas, Alexander Koruchekov, Yuri Butusov, Alexander Nazarov and others.

While playing on stage, the talented actress always thoroughly portrays her character and constantly keeps the audience in suspense. Has several theater awards. Olga has never participated in a reading competition; on the initiative of Veniamin Smekhov, she periodically takes part in reading evenings in several cycles of the “Listen” program.

Director Anzhelika Kholina said about Olga that in life she is a mouse that you might not even notice, but on stage she is a deity.

Olga began acting in films during her student years. Her debut work was the melodramatic film “Bridge Party” directed by Alexei Karelin, in which Olga starred in 2009. In the film, the girl starred with Yulia Rutberg, Alexei Bagdasarov and others.

Olga received her first leading role in the romantic comedy “Handsome Man” directed by Alexander Chernykh. The film talks about the difficulties of women's lives in the modern world. Olga played the architect Sasha Tsvetkova in the project, thanks to this role the actress became famous.

The actress played the second significant leading role in the film “Shuller” (2013) directed by Eduard Pari. In her film work, she showed the image of a girl, Maya, who was in love with a young swindler and card sharper Konstantin. After the release of this project, the actress received long-awaited popularity and fans of her talent.

The actress’s filmography today includes more than 20 projects of different genres. Among Olga’s works, we can especially highlight: “Love and other nonsense”, “Peter Leshchenko. All That Was”, “Single by Contract”, “Step Fates”, “Wonderland” and “House on the Edge of the Forest”.

Olga loves her profession very much, she likes to live the lives of different people on stage and on the set. Do things that she may never do in her life. The actress most often does not refuse offers to act in films, if this does not interfere with her work in the theater. The only thing Olga does not accept is working in endless multi-part projects for the sake of money and constant flashing on the screen. She often refuses such films.

A taboo for an actress is a TV show; she will never participate in them. 2017-2018 were very fruitful for Olga. The actress took part in film projects :

  • "Provincial detective";
  • “Secrets of Mrs. Kirsanova”;
  • "Fear of heights";
  • "Mashkin's House";
  • "The ark";
  • “How I became”;
  • "Etudes on Freedom";
  • "The last of the line."

In production for 2020, it is planned to release such projects where Olga starred: “One Breath”, “New Year Express” and “I’m Alive”. At the end of December 2020, the actress took part in the filming of a new program for the Culture channel , together with her colleagues Veniamin Smekhov and Alexei Vertkov.

Personal life

Olga Lerman prefers not to advertise such things in her personal life, so there are few reliable facts on this topic. But there are enough rumors and gossip in the conditions of a lack of information in the media. During the filming of “Rounders,” Olga was suspected of having an affair with her partner on the set, Anton Feoktistov. The girl clearly denied the rumors, emphasizing that Anton is married.

Olga Lerman and Anton Feoktistov

In an interview, Olga reports that she has a loved one to whom she remains faithful, so all the stories about affairs with colleagues are nothing more than gossip. Although Olga is not thinking about marriage and children yet, she mentions on her Instagram page that she will definitely send her future daughter to dance.

Olga carefully separates her personal and professional life. In 2001, the girl starred naked in the film “Handsome Man” in a rather piquant scene, but such moments do not affect Olga’s real relationship with her lover.

Personal life of Olga Lerman

Something, but Olga diligently hides her personal life, from everyone - not only from fans and journalists, but even from her loved ones. Today Olga is not married, and she has not been and does not intend to in the near future, because she is now completely dedicating herself to her career.

Olga Lerman's height is 168 cm

The only thing Olga shared in one of her interviews: “If I have a daughter, I will definitely send her to a choreographic school. No, not because I dream of making her a ballerina - classical dancing classes are simply necessary for a future lady.”

Olga Lerman now

In December 2020, viewers could enjoy Olga’s performance in the costume series “The Secrets of Mrs. Kirsanova.” Her heroine Larisa Kirsanova begins to find out the reason why her fiancé ran away from the wedding. Without listening to relatives who insist that her beloved is an ordinary swindler and scoundrel, she gradually unravels a whole tangle of intrigue. Together with Olga, Evgeny Shirikov and Anton Batyrev starred in the series.

Olga made her debut in the fairy tale “The Far Away Area”. Next, the aspiring actress played a small role in the television film “Bridge Party” and starred in an episode of the television project “Love and Other Nonsense.” She also took part in the production of “The Kid and Carlson,” which was staged at the Satire Theater.

The accidental, non-random rapid success of Olga Lerman from Baku in Russia - interview (PHOTO)

BAKU /Trend Life/ - As part of the third International Theater Festival MAP, organized by the Space for Contemporary Art YARAT with the partner support of Bakcell, a major tour of the State Academic Theater named after. E. Vakhtangov.

Among the famous artists is our compatriot, popular theater and film actress, one of the leading actresses of the Vakhtangov Theater Olga Lerman. We present to Trend Life readers material and an interview with Olga Lerman. Young artists have been waiting for roles for years, but Olga is not one of them - she has made an incredibly fast rise!

Olga was born on March 25, 1988 into a theatrical family. Mother is Victoria Lerman, head of the production department of the Azerbaijan Russian Academic Drama Theater named after Samed Vurgun, father is an actor of the same theater, Honored Artist Fuad Osmanov. Since childhood, Olga sat at rehearsals with her mother, dropped in on her dad’s performances, and appeared on stage in children’s plays. But she dreamed of becoming a ballerina, so she studied rhythmic gymnastics for 4 to 7 years, and after graduating from school she entered the Baku Choreographic School. Later she moved to Russia and graduated from the folk dance department of the Krasnodar Choreographic School. My mother always supported me, and my father was my first example on the theater stage.

“I was used to my father playing negative roles. But at home he is completely different - a very good and caring father. We discussed the performances in the evening, I told him about my feelings, helped rewrite the roles when he allowed. I still rewrite them the way he taught me. When I left for Russia at the age of 16, at first it was very difficult to adapt. After all, life in Baku is different, it’s very warm and cozy, all the neighbors know each other and communicate closely. At that time, my mother always supported me, and over time she discovered new qualities in herself. I still miss my parents in Moscow, because I don’t see them so often, I miss Baku Boulevard, the Caspian Sea, the local fruits, my thoughts often return to my childhood,” says Olga.

At the age of 18, she moved to Moscow and took exams at all theater institutes, hoping, first of all, to enter the Moscow Art Theater School, but did not pass the competition. In 2006-2011 she studied at the Higher Theater School named after B.V. Shchukin. The course was with a puppet focus at the S.V. Theater. Obraztsova. And starting from her third year, she already played at the Satire Theater, which was directed by Alexander Shirvindt.

In 2011, she played two roles in the student graduation performance of the Shchukin School “Unlearned Comedy” directed by Alexander Koruchenkov. For the role of Harlequin she was awarded the Golden Leaf Theater Award. Her talent did not go unnoticed, and after graduating from the Shchukin School she was accepted into the troupe of the Theater. E. B. Vakhtangov by the famous director Rimas Tuminas.

At first she auditioned for a role in the play “The Shore of Women,” but soon received the main role in Angelica Kholina’s new choreographic performance “Anna Karenina.” Moreover, in 2012, for this role she was awarded the Crystal Turandot Theater Award for best debut. Subsequently, she also played in two other performances by Kholina: the role of Desdemona in Othello and the role of Carmen in the play of the same name at the Angelika Kholina Dance Theater.

In 2013, Olga Lerman received the main role of Tatyana Larina in Rimas Tuminas' production of Eugene Onegin. She was awarded the Theater Prize of the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper for the best female role among beginners. In total, she played roles in more than 15 performances on the stage of four Moscow theaters. She shone in the performances of Alexander Koruchekov “Jealous of Herself”, Yuri Butusov based on the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov “Running”, Vladimir Mirzoev’s “Coming Home” based on the play of the same name by Harold Pinter, etc. At the Vakhtangov Theater - in six performances: “Anna Karenina”, “Running”, “Eugene Onegin”, “Othello”, “Pier” and “Jealous of Herself”.

She made her film debut in 2009 in the film “Bridge Party.” And she received her first leading role in 2011 in the film “Pretty Boy”. Fame as a film actress brought her the main roles - Maya in Edward Parry's series "Rounder" and Sergei Mezentsev's detective series "The Secrets of Mrs. Kirsanova." In total she played in more than twenty films, television series and film-performances. Among them, “Far Far Away”, “Love and Other Nonsense”, “Peter Leshchenko. Everything that happened...", "Shadowed Fates", "House on the Edge of the Forest", "Mashkin's House", etc.

What a meteoric rise! It’s interesting that Olga attributes her success to chance.

“I believe that chance is very important in a person’s life! The fact that we came into this world is an accident; our parents met is an accident; many accidents accompany us throughout our lives and even lead us to success. For example, I ended up at the Satire Theater by accident. The head of our course at the Shchukin School was the famous actor Yuri Nifontov, who also worked at the Satire Theater. And there they needed a performer for the role of the Kid in “The Kid and Carlson”, because the actress who played this role became pregnant. Yuri Borisovich suggested me for this role - Alexander Shirvindt liked it. And another case. The famous actress Galina Konovalova came to our play “Unlearned Comedy” and said that Rimas Tuminas should definitely watch it. He came, he liked it, and invited me to the Vakhtangov Theater. At first I refused, since I already worked at the Satire Theater, but then I decided. Everything happened by accident, and everything that is accidental is wonderful. As they say, man proposes, but God disposes. Therefore, there is no specific formula for success, everyone has their own path, but a lot depends on a person’s energy, desire to discover and create, create and strive for a dream.”

Of course, not everyone makes it onto the big stage, much less play leading roles.

“Getting the main role is not particularly difficult, but in order to embody this image and play at the level for many years, you need to work for this. There are a lot of actors who get leading roles but they don't make it. This happened to me too. And there is no specific formula for success. Everyone has his own path. I know actresses who played their leading roles at a very old or young age.”

And yet, every accident has its own pattern, and success is not accidental. Talent, hard work and the right path to your goal, if you like - to your dream.

“I am happy that I am engaged in a profession that I enjoy. Theater and cinema have become an integral part of my life. I like to experience different lives on stage, to do things that I may never do. I want to play all the heroines in the world... But what interests me most is when the audience doesn’t recognize me in roles. This is the best thing for me that I can do on stage. Probably, each role leaves its mark on the actor, but I would like not to change under the influence of roles, but to learn something from my heroes. Although most often we learn from our own mistakes. The main thing is that I want to remain human in any situation. And never stop developing – both as a person and as an actress.”

Let us remind you that the Vakhtangov Theater team presents three performances - staged by Rimas Tuminas “Eugene Onegin” (September 1-3) on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater, staged by Mikhail Tsitrinyak “The Cry of the Lobster” (September 3) and “Medea” (4 September) - on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun. Taking part in the tour are: Sergey Makovetsky, Alexey Guskov, Lyudmila Maksakova, Irina Kupchenko, Yulia Rutberg, Olga Lerman, Leonid Bichevin, Arthur Ivanov, Oleg Makarov, Yuri Shlykov, Grigory Antipenko, Andrey Ilyin and others. Performances are held in Russian with Azerbaijani subtitles.

The MAP Festival - an acronym for music, art and performance - combines various forms of theatrical art to help audiences understand the intricacies of a wide range of contemporary theater forms, providing a platform for communication, learning, knowledge and experience sharing.
