Destiny for two. Lyudmila Kasatkina and Sergey Kolosov

Childhood and youth

The future actor was born in the Leningrad region in September 1983. Sergei Kolos spent his childhood and youth in the city of Slantsy. The artist does not give interviews and is extremely reluctant to open the pages of his biography, so no information can be found about Sergei’s family. It is unknown what his parents' profession is, but they are not connected with the world of theater and cinema.

Sergei Kolos in 2020
In his youth, Sergei Kolos did not think about stage and cinema: like most of his peers, he was fond of sports. I gave preference to strength sports: wrestling, hand-to-hand combat, boxing. But the world of art also attracted the guy: he learned to play the guitar and was interested in theater and cinema. After school, he chose an artistic path for himself, enrolling in a theater institute.

At SPbGATI, Kolos studied on the course of Professor Andrei Andreev, theater director and teacher. Sergei received his university diploma at the age of 27—a very respectable age for an aspiring actor.

Destiny for two. Lyudmila Kasatkina and Sergey Kolosov

Think about it - 62 years of family happiness! Hand in hand... And they also left almost together for another world. She came to his funeral - beautiful, like a true movie star. From a hospital room, but with fresh manicure and makeup, as always, with a straight back and heels. And she left after him 11 days later, unable to bear the parting...

...Their story began with a prank. Students Lyudmila Kasatkina and Sergei Kolosov met in the courtyard of GITIS on her birthday in 1943. Lyudmila did not immediately understand that this was a gift of fate.

Moreover, this smiling and cheerful young lady, by her acting nature, immediately played the spectacular senior lieutenant Kolosov, who returned from the front at the request of GITIS professor Mikhail Tarkhanov to continue his studies as a director. Here is how it was. Sergei Kolosov, having learned about her birthday, decided to act immediately.

I asked permission to bring flowers to her home. That same evening, having wandered quite a bit through the Arbat alleys, the lieutenant with a bouquet of peonies at the address she had invented found Lyudmila, but not Kasatkina... And instead of being offended by the crafty but irresistible blonde, early the next morning Kolosov stood with peonies at the entrance to GITIS. After that, they walked towards their wedding for another 4 years. But it was already clear that after that May meeting they could not do without each other.

MUSCAT FRAGRANCE

...At the end of May 1946, Sergei Kolosov involved Lyudmila Kasatkina in the student brigade of artists sent to perform for the builders rebuilding Sevastopol after the war. In this way, he strengthened the acquaintance - with the help of the beauty of the Black Sea coast.

For the rest of her life, Lyudmila Kasatkina remembered the taste of a sprig of nutmeg, bought by Sergei at the southern market with his last money. Then, in 1946, Sergei Nikolaevich gave Lyudmila Ivanovna her first serious gift - a book of poems by Ilya Selvinsky with the prophetic inscription: “We will visit Paris too.” During their wonderful life, they visited Paris, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Warsaw and many other places, presenting the masterpieces of world cinema they created.

In March 1954, Lyudmila Kasatkina received her first offer for a screen test for a script with the working title “Five Leopards” from the Lenfilm film studio. For the image of the heroine - tamer Lena Vorontsova - a “circus face” was required. Sergei Nikolaevich insisted on her trip to Leningrad. Lyudmila Ivanovna recalled that during the audition for the film, which would later become known as “Tiger Tamer,” “having looked at my face, I was completely upset by it.” The next day in Moscow, Kasatkina shared with her mother: “Mommy, what should I do with my face?” “To carry it to term,” my mother answered philosophically.

Tamer Vorontsova became a turning point role that brought success, the love of the audience and at the same time a professional and personal test for Kasatkina. She traveled from Moscow to Leningrad for the filming for six months, and for the authenticity of the image she had to actually enter the tiger’s cage. The film was released in 1955.

All over Moscow, huge posters featured the ferocious face of a tiger, the charming face of the super-popular actor Pavel Kadochnikov, and a full-length portrait of Lyudmila Kasatkina with a whip.

It was impossible even for the actors themselves to get tickets, although the film was shown in all Moscow cinemas from morning to night... According to the recollections of the famous Soviet film director Mikhail Romm and playwright Georgy Koltunov about the celebration on the occasion of the film's premiere, when Lyudmila Kasatkina in a light pink and lilac dress, as if “ “The young princess, shining with Russian beauty,” appeared in the hall, many of the cultural figures present said: “We are witnessing the birth of a new star.” “Evening Moscow” in those days wrote about Kasatkina’s role: “This is a first-class acting job.” Since 1947, Lyudmila Kasatkina has been a bright theater actress, who, on the advice of her husband, entered the Central Theater of the Soviet Army and served there throughout her creative life.

In this theater over 50 years, Lyudmila Ivanovna played 60 roles. In the 50s, one of the best performances was “The Taming of the Shrew,” based on which Kolosov, having written the script, made the country’s first television film in 1961. For the role of Katarina Kasatkina, being an Honored Actress of the RSFSR since 1956, received the first International Prize at the International Film Festival in Monte Carlo. The joint filmography of Lyudmila Kasatkina and Sergei Kolosov includes 12 film masterpieces that are included in the golden fund of our cinema. Among them are the first domestic television series “Calling Fire on Ourselves”, “Optimistic Tragedy”, “Operation Trust”, “Mother Mary”, “Darling”, as well as the film “Remember Your Name”, which turns the souls of viewers - essentially an anti-fascist manifesto . But the main success, in her opinion, is the role of the keeper of the family hearth - wife and mother.

ONLY TOGETHER, HOLDING HANDS

Of course, we can say that this couple was lucky. Every strong union has its own secrets of family harmony. We asked Alexey Kolosov, the son of Lyudmila Kasatkina and Sergei Kolosov, and his wife Svetlana about this. Here's what Alexey Kolosov, a famous jazz guitarist, composer and journalist, says:

— Mom liked the words of the Russian philosopher Vasily Rozanov: “The family is a more aristocratic form of life.” She herself said that a prosperous family is one of the few islands of hope these days. And one more thing: “If you have a family, then it is in your power to make it happy...” “Lyudmila Ivanovna believed that the family atmosphere depends on the woman,” adds Svetlana. - And you need to give in to your husband, even if he is wrong.

And the basis of the family is mutual respect, interest in the husband’s affairs, his opinion and care for him. And you always need to look one hundred percent - straight back, easy gait and a charge of energy. And kindness and humanity preserve the family.

— Many people remember and love the images of Katarina and Chekhov’s Darling, created by Kasatkina. What did these roles mean for the actress herself and for the family, in your opinion?

Mom did not consider Darling stupid and lightweight. In her opinion, this image is the key to female happiness,” recalls Alexey. — My parents were very different. Mom is emotional, sometimes quick-tempered and quickly outgoing, father is the personification of calm and confidence. Mom said that she had tamed herself all her life. She knew how to immediately ask for forgiveness and repent in controversial situations. My father often repeated that it was impossible to get angry with such a wife. Mom was dazzlingly cheerful. There was a spiritual connection between the parents. They walked through life holding hands.

— How did they manage to overcome the costs of attention to themselves with such popularity?

Their co-authored book “Destiny for Two” describes several situations that test the strength of their relationship, says Svetlana. — Everyone fell in love with Lyudmila Ivanovna. And even Pavel Kadochnikov admitted his sympathy for her. Gerard Philippe (Fanfan-Tulip) did not leave Kasatkina’s side at a banquet in Cannes... But she kept repeating: “I can’t even imagine that I would exchange my Serezhenka for someone else.” And Kolosov echoed: “You are alone for me.” “We are so funny, old-fashioned,” they admitted to the whole world.

- How did they raise you?

- They never played stars. There are two categories of actors: those who act off stage, and those who remain living people off stage. In our house I constantly saw good people, rehearsals with the participation of Alexander Kuznetsov and Andrei Mironov, Boris Galkin, Rolan Bykov, Lyudmila Ivanova... My parents were friends with Belza, playwright Zorin, writer Kazakov, composer Saulsky, with Janusz Przymanowski, whose script became the basis of the series "Four troopers and a dog".

So I was developed, but not by the ear. They took it with them to screenings and filming. In their inner circle there was no envy or competition, but rather goodwill and generosity. The best lessons for me were their relationship itself. That was enough .

TO BE LIKE IN LIFE

Lyudmila Kasatkina’s most famous and “light” film can be considered “Tiger Tamer,” for which the actress received the “Golden Nymph” prize in Monte Carlo for best actress.

Well, one of the most difficult films for her was, of course, the film “Remember Your Name.” Having witnessed the war as a teenager, the actress remembered the retreat of the army, the whistle of falling bombs, and also a woman distraught with grief who had lost two children. Before filming, the actors were allowed to stay in the Auschwitz Museum. Getting used to the role, Kasatkina starved herself, assuring everyone that she was eating. As a result of losing 12 kilograms, she fainted from exhaustion...

MEMOIRS IN TWO FEATHERS

In 2005, shortly before the amazing couple - Lyudmila Kasatkina and Sergei Kolosov - passed away, the Molodaya Gvardiya publishing house published the book “Destiny for Two. Memories in Dialogues." They wrote it together - remembering, reflecting, analyzing. The book contains many personal, touching moments, but in addition, it reads not as pure memoirs, but as deep, high-level journalistic literature.

PANTHER BAGHIRA AND NOT ONLY IT

Fans of cartoons are well aware of the film "Mowgli", one of the heroines of which - the amazing Bagheera - speaks in an amazing voice, full of pride and nobility. Not everyone knows that Lyudmila Kasatkina voiced Bagheera. She first spoke in the voice of Bagheera in 1967 and took part in the dubbing of five cartoons based on the famous book by Rudyard Kipling. In addition, the actress voiced the cartoon “The Last Bride of Snake Gorynych.”

At the Liteiny Theater, the artist was involved in the performances “Pyshka” based on the story by Guy de Maupassant, “Bankrupt” based on A. N. Ostrovsky and “Life in the Theater” by David Mamet.

And if in the first productions the directors trusted Sergei Kolos with supporting roles, then 2-3 years later theatergoers saw the actor in the image of Mitya in the play “Do not part with your loved ones” by Alexander Galibin and Menachem Mendl in “Funeral Prayer.”

Love without betrayal

Lyudmila Kasatkina told how one day at the theater a colleague asked her with genuine interest:

- Listen, you’ve been living with Kolosov for 60 years, and you’ve never cheated on him?

- Not once.

“So before you die, you won’t have anything to remember.”

-Like this? - Lyudmila was surprised. — I will remember Sergei.

They had a terribly touching love story.

Lyudmila Kasatkina was always like a sunbeam - hot and radiant. Open, sincere, always cheerful, always ready to rejoice at everything and for everyone. Sergei Kolosov saw her somewhere in the corridors of GITIS and immediately came up to meet her and invite her on a date.

Lyudmila laughed and said that tomorrow was her birthday. If you want, come to this address.

Sergei spent a long time getting ready, buying flowers, ironing his suit. He came, stood on the landing to calm down his excitement, and rang the doorbell. Some people discovered:

- What are you, young man? The Kasatkins don’t live here, you’ve got the wrong address.

Kolosov got upset and wandered home. He no longer wanted to see Lyudmila, but when a few days later they ran into each other in the corridor, she apologized so sincerely that he immediately forgave her.

Tall (the actor's height is 180 cm), athletic-looking, the young performer coped well with his roles.

In 2015, a daughter was born into the family, and 3 years later the wife gave the actor a son. Photos with heirs often appear on the artist’s Instagram page.

Family and work

From that day their friendship began. It was just friendship, no one talked about feelings. They just talked, walked, Lyudmila played pranks from time to time so that Sergei would not lose shape, and he would be on guard so as not to get caught.

And then in Sevastopol, where GITIS students came to some concert, Lyudmila saw Kolosov stop at a fruit stand and begin to rummage through his pockets. I raked out all the student pennies from them, bought a sprig of grapes, turned to go and saw Lyudmila. He brightened up and ran to her: this is for you.

And she suddenly realized that he loved her.

Sergey Kolos now

Now Sergey continues to expand the boundaries of his role. He starred in the comedy "Elephant" about a former children's writer. The film brought together a brilliant acting team, which, in addition to Kolos, included Alexey Guskov, Polina Agureeva, Evgenia Dmitrieva, Yan Tsapnik.
