To enter the Institute of Performing Arts, Dmitry had to move to Leningrad and ask permission from the Academy of Sciences, because the young man was required to work for 3 years in the specialty he had already received. Shevchenko waited for the minister’s reception for about 6 hours, after which he asked the official one question: “Do you need a crippled economist or a full-fledged actor more?” These words impressed the minister.

After graduating from LGITMiK in 1990, Shevchenko took up informal theater and worked for some time with colleagues from Shanghai. Then there was a collaboration with the enterprise “Dramatic Actors of St. Petersburg”, after which the artist was invited to the troupe of the famous “Alexandrinka”.
