Sergei Chelobanov, a talented musician from the provinces, found himself at the very bottom in the early 90s due to his addictions. However, he pulled out a lucky ticket; his friendship with the Diva took him to the very top of show business. Chelobanov was among such performers as Zhenya Belousov , Vlad Stashevsky or Andrei Derzhavin , who appeared out of nowhere and became stars overnight. But he was not destined to remain at the top of the Russian stage.

Childhood

Sergei Chelobanov, a biography whose personal life is presented in the article, was born in a simple family, in the small town of Balakovo, Saratov region, on August 31, 1961. The father of the future singer worked as an engineer, his mother was a teacher at a music school, they were counting on help from their eldest son, but he caused a lot of trouble. At school, Sergei was cocky and disobedient, often becoming the center of conflicts. The parents took the child to a music school and enrolled in a variety of sports sections, but this did not diminish the teenager’s energy. In the end, the father brought his son to the boxing section, which was supposed to teach the young bully to overcome his aggression. Over the course of several years, Sergei achieved fairly high results in boxing and music. This became the reason for his self-confidence, he was the star of the school - a boxing champion, a member of the school musical group, and there was no end to fans. By the end of school, Sergei was a regional boxing champion and a fairly famous musician.

Birth and family

Sergei was born on August 31, 1961 on the banks of the Volga River in the Saratov region in the small town of Balakovo, where there were a lot of factories, construction projects and even a nuclear hydroelectric power station.

Mother, Nina Petrovna, was educated at a pedagogical college and worked as a children's music worker. Dad, Vasily Vasilyevich, worked at one of the local factories as a chief engineer. Seryozha was the eldest child in the family, after him the Chelobanov couple had two more sons. Middle Vasily - he, like his father, became an engineer, but did not go into music. The younger Alexander is also a musician, arranger, and composer; his father considered him even more talented than the older Sergei.

Mom wanted Sergei to connect his life with music, so at the age of four she sat him down at the piano. From childhood, dad taught the child to love sports. Seryozha was a fairly active boy when he went to school, tried different sections, played football, gymnastics, skiing, and ice skating.

Passion for music

Even as a teenager, Sergei Chelobanov, a biography whose personal life was not yet known to anyone, became interested in rock culture. He grew up listening to bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Deep Purple. Even during his school years, he played in a group, and upon graduation he began working in the “Singing Hearts” group at the Balakovo Palace of Culture for Chemists, where he played hard rock. He did not graduate from the music school where he studied piano and guitar, but received the basics of musical literacy. He later graduated from the Moscow University of Arts in absentia.

    Professional career

Sergei Vasilyevich Chelobanov carried his passion for music throughout his life. Over the course of several years, he changed several groups: “Molodist”, “Stone Flower”, “Limousine”. A musician develops his own singing style and gains experience as a guitarist. In the Limousin group, he is no longer only a soloist and guitarist, but also the author of lyrics and music for songs. With the group “Molodost” Chelobanov tours around the country.

In 1985, the famous ensemble “Integral” led by Barry Alibasov came to Balakovo on tour. The producer took a liking to an unusual local musician, and he invited him to join the group, but Chelobanov did not stay there for long, about six months. He was able to see how a real professional team works.

The path to success was opened by meeting the Diva

At the beginning of his musical career, Chelobanov managed to change several bands. He performed in such Soviet groups as “Stone Flower”, “Integral”, “Singing Hearts”. Twice Sergei became the founder of new groups, but none of them became successful.

In the early 90s, Sergei Chelobanov decided to pursue a solo career. Then he met Alla Pugacheva, with whom he immediately began collaborating. Their first song together was called “Uninvited Guest” and became very popular. In 1993, the artist pleased his fans with two studio collections at once.

The debut album was called “Uninvited Guest,” and the second record went on sale under the title “I Don’t Know How to Tell You...”. This period of time marked the peak of Sergei Chelobanov’s popularity. His compositions were known throughout the post-Soviet space, and the musician himself constantly disappeared on tour. In 1995, the artist presented his third collection, to which he gave the name “Caprice”.

Over time, Chelobanov's compositions began to lose their popularity. The artist decided to stop touring, but continued to work as an arranger and composer. For example, in 2000, the discography of Philip Kirkorov was replenished with the collections “CheloFilia”, in the recording of which Sergei Chelobanov took part.

The famous musician continues to be creative now, but no longer performs in front of the public. The last time he could be seen on stage was in 2012, when the artist’s fans persuaded him to give a concert in his hometown.

Sergei Vasilyevich can sometimes be seen on television. The artist took part in such top-rated shows as “You are a Superstar”, “King of the Ring”, “Three Chords”, “Secret to a Million”. And in the feature film “God’s Creature” Sergei showed his acting abilities and played one of the roles.

    Problems with law

A complex character, cockiness and dislike for following rules often complicated the life of a musician. For the first time, singer Sergei Chelobanov broke the law in high school. He was always characterized by bravado, he loved everyone's attention and admiration, and it was the desire to impress girls that pushed him onto the path of crime. Wanting to demonstrate his unprecedented prowess, Chelobanov stole a motorcycle to show off in the company. The police quickly found the reveler, and he was brought to justice. The sentence was lenient - three years probation, and this did not sober up Chelobanov. After school was left behind, he got a job at his father’s factory, but he didn’t work well because he spent all nights playing in a band at dances.

The second time the musician came into contact with the law was again due to theft. In search of money for drugs, he steals a synthesizer and is caught trying to sell it. This time the court sentenced him to actually serve time in a general regime colony. He served 2 years of the required three years. In prison, he continued to play music, playing in a local club in a band. The conclusion allowed the singer to rethink his life and make important decisions.

The boy grew up very active and hot-tempered. Parents tried with all their might to curb Sergei’s crazy nature. He was taught to play the piano and was sent to various sports sections. But even such measures did not always save; there were fights and clashes between groups of young people. At school, many parents complained about Chelobanov for constant attacks on classmates. Then Vasily Vasilyevich made the only decision that seemed right to him: he took the child to the boxing section. This move had a positive impact on the character of the future composer. In addition to the art of fighting, boxing teaches you to restrain your own rage and develops a culture of behavior. The fights faded into the background.

    Sergei Chelobanov in his youth

It was at school that Sergei Chelobanov felt the effects of star fever. Victories in the ring and significant successes in music school affected the teenager’s self-esteem. The attention of girls, the envy of classmates and boxing partners, the feeling of permissiveness, pride and inflated self-esteem played a bad joke on young Sergei. For his rudeness towards casual acquaintances, he was repeatedly punished by older guys.

In high school, the situation improved a little: Sergei Chelobanov became seriously interested in music, in particular rock and roll. This affected class attendance, but the teachers did not interfere too much with this, because Sergei was involved in all the events and concert life of the school.

    Sergei Chelobanov in his youth

It was at this age that Chelobanov first seriously violated the law. Succumbing to the influence of fashionable actions of the time, the future musician stole a motorcycle with which he was going to win girls' hearts. But vigilant policemen caught the hooligan. Sergei was given three years probation. Not knowing what to do with his troublemaker son, Vasily Chelobanov decided to get him to work at his own factory. But it was difficult to call it work; Sergei slept during the day and played hard rock at night. He assembled a musical group that performed at the local cultural center. A suspended conviction did not allow him to enter the army on time, so Sergei Chelobanov became a conscript only at 22 years old.

    Sergey Chelobanov now

After the army, the future composer began to use drugs. Chelobanov was arrested a second time due to drug addiction. In search of money for the next dose, Sergei and his company stole a synthesizer and sold it. The second court sentenced him to three years in prison, to be served in a penal colony, where Chelobanov continued to study music.

    Big stage

After his release, Chelobanov moved to Moscow, although he had no connections there. But there was a large supply of musical material that he wanted to record. He works in the H-Band team, where he acts as an author and soloist. The recording of the music took place at Ukupnik’s studio, who highly appreciated the capabilities of the new artist. He shows the cassette with the mixed album to television music editor Marta Mogilevskaya, who will put in a good word for the team with Pugacheva. While the album is being recorded, Chelobanov is working in the studio with Larisa Dolina, making arrangements for several fashion groups, including Kar-Man. He gradually acquires acquaintances and experience.

Chelobanov came onto the big stage thanks to composer Arkady Ukupnik, who brought a recording of the H-Band to Alla Pugacheva. She immediately wanted to meet the unusual vocalist. So Sergei Chelobanov, whose songs attracted the attention of the national pop diva, got a chance to reach a new level.

    Biography

Sergei Chelobanov was born in 1961 in the town of Balakovo near Saratov.
Only the mother of the future singer was interested in music in the family, who introduced him to creativity and also enrolled him in a music school. And yet Sergei grew up a real tomboy, never missing a single fight at school. They decided to send the boy to boxing, which helped cope with his difficult and hot-tempered character. In high school, Sergei Chelobanov was already seriously interested in rock and roll and often performed on stage. But one day his violent temper got the better of the guy, and he broke the law for the first time by stealing a neighbor’s motorcycle and receiving a suspended sentence for it. The young man had to go to work at a factory, but this did not stop him from playing rock at amateur concerts. At 22, he joined the army, and when he returned, he became addicted to drugs. Because of this, another theft occurred, and now Chelobanov found himself in prison for three years.

After some time, a cassette with recordings of songs from Chelobanov’s rock group “N-Band” that had been circulating around ended up in the hands of the singer and composer Arkady Ukupnik. He showed it to Alla Pugacheva. The prima donna was delighted with the singer’s creativity and, having met him, offered to work at the Pugacheva Theater. This is how Sergei Chelobanov’s concert activities began, and in 1990 the popular group recorded the album “Uninvited Guest”.

In the 90s, the singer recorded several more albums and often performed in concerts. Famous performers, including Philip Kirkorov, performed on stage with him more than once. However, by the beginning of the new decade, Chelobanov’s popularity had almost faded away. Currently, he remains a non-public person and has only appeared on television a few times as a guest on various talk shows, talking about his fate.

    Sidereal period

In the fall of 1990, Alla Pugacheva began preparing for the next “Christmas Meetings”, and she urgently needed new names. Having heard a pleasant and unusual male voice on the tape, the prima donna went to meet the singer. Long negotiations led to the H-Band signing an agreement with the singer’s production company. So a new star appeared at the Alla Pugacheva Theater - Sergei Vasilievich Chelobanov. His unusual image and voice immediately attracted attention to him, especially since Pugacheva made a lot of efforts to promote the new singer.

Sergei Chelobanov, whose songs appeared in “Christmas Meetings” and then in “Blue Light,” is becoming popular, he achieved what he wanted. He records the album "Uninvited Guest", which sells in large quantities. For four years the musician basked in the glory, but everything ended due to the fault of the musician himself.

    Pernicious Passion

The cause of many troubles in Chelobanov’s life was his passion for tonic substances. Even in his youth, he often abused alcohol, and during his military service he became acquainted with marijuana. After prison, when life was not easy, he began to use hard drugs. While working with Pugacheva, he tried to keep himself in shape, but he could not give up the vice. This was the reason for the break with the prima donna and the collapse of her career. In 2002, Chelobanov managed to give up drugs, but alcohol addiction remained, which he struggled with for several more years.

    Life after fame

Sergei Chelobanov, biography, whose personal life is full of various events, is going through difficult times at the turn of the century. Having gone through periods of drug and alcohol abuse, oblivion and lack of money, 13 years after his stellar rise, the musician reappears on television screens. In 2007, he became a participant in the show “You are a Superstar”, this allowed him to return to the stage, although he no longer became a star of the first magnitude. Today, viewers often remember a man named Sergei Chelobanov. “Where is he now, what is he doing?” - they ask. He is not visible on the big stage, but he works, conducts small concert activities and is happy in his family life.

    Personal life

The singer’s private life always attracted attention; during the period of working with Pugacheva, everyone only discussed their romance. The prima donna did not hide her sympathy for the singer. But few people know that at this time Sergei Chelobanov’s wife was patiently waiting for him at home with two children. The singer got married in his youth, and since then his wife has bravely endured all the musician’s “tricks”; they have lived together for more than 20 years.

In January 2020, Chelobanov became a father for the third time; his son was given to him by his second wife, former singer of his band Evgenia Dolgova.

This year Sergei CHELOBANOV will exchange fifty dollars. Recently, almost nothing has been heard about the singer and composer, who at one time was the “camping husband” of Alla PUGACHEVA. He reminded of himself only with small concerts in clubs and participation in the TV shows “King of the Ring” and “You are a Superstar!” But now Sergei Vasilyevich has decided to triumphantly return to show business. For the anniversary, he will release a solo album, give a series of grandiose concerts and introduce viewers to his new projects. Chelobanov spoke about the most striking moments of the first 50 years of his life in an interview with Express Gazeta.

    — Sergei Vasilyevich, they say you recently suffered from radiculitis.

“My head is still swollen from the medications.” But the main salvation from this damned disease was my granddaughter. Lerochka is two years old. When I fell ill, she constantly visited me and stomped on my back with pleasure. The pain disappeared as if by hand. With the advent of Lera, another measure of responsibility was activated in me. As if it was me, and not my son Denis, who had a child. Stopped drinking. Perhaps this is unspent fatherhood, because when my children were small, I was always away at work and did not notice how they grew up.

Sergei Vasilyevich affectionately nicknamed the prima donna Masha

    — There were rumors that you also left the “King of the Ring” program because of radiculitis.
    - Nonsense! It was just foul play. Some participants were secretly trained by venerable mentors who trained athletes even for our team. And I was training with a friend - a simple boxer. But this story gave me a serious adrenaline rush. When I bandaged my hands and put on gloves, my heart began to beat wildly. Although my health is no longer the same. In his youth, he was a very promising boxer - the champion of his native Saratov region. But 30 years have passed since then. I naively thought: “I’ll come out just like before, just as light and agile.” But no! I still had enough for a short fight. But after the second round I felt that my legs were becoming weak. And the reaction is no longer the same, my vision has become worse. In short, although I lost, I left with dignity.

With his wife Lyudmila and sons Nikita and Denis (1990)

    Fire, water and copper pipes

    — Do you remember your first love with warmth?

    — My two main passions - women and music, which guide me through life, have always been connected with each other. So my first true love in my life broke out when I began playing in the school ensemble in the tenth grade. I played guitar, and Natasha Makarova from the parallel class played ionics. I still clearly remember that fragile girl in a ridiculous brown student dress with a black apron, who aroused serious passion in me. The first time we had sex was right on the school desk in the music class. And we liked it so much that whenever possible we rushed to repeat it. Natasha never refused me, and often she herself was the initiator of the next intimate adventure.

The singer brought his “camping wife” PUGACHEVA to his native Balakovo and introduced her to his father Vasily Vasilyevich, mother Nina Petrovna and beloved aunt Tamara

    — Since you moved from Balakovo to Moscow, have you met with Natalya?
    — We saw each other a couple of times when I came to visit my parents in the 90s. There was no disappointment that she had changed, matured and was no longer mine for a long time. I never wanted to replay any moments in life. Well, it happened and passed.

    — Your wife Lyudmila celebrated her birthday on March 8th. How long has it been since you last confessed your love to her?

    - So on March 8th he confessed. Luda went through fire, water and copper pipes with me. We got married on November 19, 1983. In a couple of years we will celebrate a pearl wedding. Of course, anything can happen in life. They fought, broke up, got back together again. But I always knew that I had never had a dearer person than Lyudmila.

In the TV show “King of the Ring” CHELOBANOV clashed in a duel with Nikita DZHIGURDA

    — During the period when your romance with Pugacheva was developing, Lyudmila probably couldn’t find a place for herself?
“Of course, it was hard for her, but she knew that at heart I still remained in the family, and she endured it. And Masha ( Chelobanov once gave this nickname to Alla Borisovna and still calls her that. - D.L. ) is a grandiose woman. A relationship with her is an invaluable experience.

    — I know that you married Lyudmila while serving in the army.

“I was sent from Sverdlovsk, where our unit was based, on vacation to Balakovo for ten days because my girlfriend was pregnant. So they had a wedding. After some time, I came again to look at my first-born Denis. As for the service, I repaid my debt to the Motherland in the construction battalion. I’ve never talked about this before, but now it’s probably possible. We built hangars for strategic missiles. Since these are serious objects, we were strictly monitored by an unrealistic number of special officers.

Sergei with his friend, co-producer and director Alexei MUSKATIN, and his protégé - singer Alexandra Germanovna

    Fishing and "fishing"

—You have a very unusual timbre of voice and manner of singing...

    — I am a Russian person, but my maternal grandmother once told me that there were gypsies in our family. If I talked to grandma now, I would find out everything completely, but it’s too late.

    — How do you define your creativity? What genre do you sing in?

“Once upon a time, Masha Borisovna tried to bring my work under some name. I thought: “What is this - rock, jazz?” And I couldn’t find anything better than to call it Chelobanovism.

In his youth, Seryozha was the first guy in the city - a musician, an athlete and just a handsome man

    — There is widespread information on the Internet that you have taken on a young mistress named Sashenka.
They say you are trying to make a singer out of her. - What kind of nonsense?! This is my new project - Alexandra Germanovna , which my friend Alexey Muscatin are doing as producers. By the way, I don’t trust anyone except Lekha. He is now my director. When I was introduced to Germanovna, I saw in her terrible persistence and a colossal desire to work. Now I am instilling in her a special style of singing. But we are not talking about any personal relationships.

    — This is not your first experience as a producer. And girls always became your wards. Have you never had the desire to have a romance?

    - Very rarely. I am an ascetic in life. There used to be a lot of young ladies around me. Some left, others came. And now I lead a modest life. For example, I love fishing.

    — I can barely imagine Chelobanov on the river. Well, even in trout farming - so and so.

    - Come with us, imagine. I have been fishing regularly in the Moscow region for a long time with Sasha Vengerov , a guitarist from the group “Recital”. Not only are we buddies and fellow countrymen, we are also avid anglers. Probably lets you know that they grew up on the Volga.

    — Men don’t often go fishing for the sake of fishing. What else are you doing there?

    - You are confusing concepts. There is fishing, and there is “fishing”. These are different things. When we go “fishing,” we do it in a sober way: we set up our gear, stock up on bait, and carefully choose a place. But if “fishing” means drunkenness in Russian, then this is no longer for me.
