Childhood and youth
Kirill was born in 1973 in the Siberian village of Ermakovskoye, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. His father was the chief engineer at the construction of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, and his mother Galina Semenovna Safonova taught Russian language and literature at school. Kirill was the youngest, third child in the family: Safonov has 2 sisters.
When the boy was 6 years old, the family moved to Western Ukraine and settled in Lvov, where Galina Semyonovna got a job as the director of the local Pioneer Palace. My mother had a decisive influence on my son’s development. Kirill Safonov gets his creative start from her: Galina Semyonovna writes poetry and prose.
Kirill Safonov in childhood
The boy's school years were spent in endless clubs and sections; thanks to his innate artistry, he took first place in poetry reading competitions.
When Kirill was 12 years old, his parents separated. The family's financial situation was shaken, and the mother had to raise her three children alone. Kirill tried his best to make his mother’s life easier, so in high school he worked part-time in construction teams.
Kirill Safonov in his youth and now
After graduating from school, Kirill Safonov decided to get a directing education, but his attempt to enter the appropriate department of the Institute of Culture was a failure: the guy could not pass the exam in the Ukrainian language. For several months, the young man sold paintings at the Lviv vernissage and even began to slowly paint himself.
In 1990, the Safonov family returned to Krasnoyarsk. Here the 18-year-old guy met his first love - the girl Elena, whom he soon married. After 3 years, Kirill Safonov entered the theater department of the Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts. After studying there for a year, he transferred to the 2nd year of GITIS, where he was enrolled in the workshop of Andrei Goncharov. Under the guidance of the master, the talented student played leading roles in the productions of “The Dog Waltz” and “Vanyushin’s Children” at the Moscow Academic Theater named after Vladimir Mayakovsky, which he directed.
Kirill Safonov
Kirill failed to complete his studies. In his 4th year at the institute, he disrupted the dress rehearsal of his graduation performance. This became the reason for Safonov’s quarrel with his mentor and subsequent expulsion from the theater university.
Childhood
Kirill was born on June 21, 1973 in the eastern part of Siberia, in the Krasnoyarsk region in the small village of Ermakovskoye.
His dad worked there as the chief engineer at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station under construction. My father was a very educated man, had four higher educations, and at the time of the construction of the hydroelectric power station he was the youngest chief engineer of the Soviet Union. Kirill’s dad read a lot of books, knew all of Mayakovsky by heart, and could quote any of his works.
Mom, Galina Semyonovna, was from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, worked at school as a teacher of Russian language and literature, she has a gift for writing and many works of her own composition in poetry and prose. Kirill is the third child; there were two more older daughters in the family, girls 3 and 4 years older than their brother.
When the boy was 6 years old, the family had to move across almost the entire Soviet Union from Siberia to the city of Lvov, his father’s homeland. Mom got a job at the Palace of Pioneers as a director. Kirill’s most vivid childhood memories were the high ceilings in his Lviv apartment and in one room there were shelves all the way to the top, all filled with books. It smelled like a library.
Theater
However, the lack of a diploma did not prevent the young actor from obtaining a profession in his specialty. In the same year, he began serving at the Moscow Drama Theater named after K. S. Stanislavsky in the group of director Vladimir Mirzoev.
Kirill Safonov in the play “Blue Rose”
The most notable works of that time were roles in the plays “Twelfth Night” and “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare. The theater paid very little money, so in order to support his family, after performances Kirill Safonov got behind the wheel of a “Seven” and went to the “second shift” - to earn extra money as a private driver.
After 2 years, the actor received a job offer from Leonid Kanevsky, founder of the Israeli Gesher Theater. Kirill Safonov decided to move with his family to Tel Aviv, especially since his mother and sisters had already lived for some time in Israel and could support the newly arrived family at first. Thus, the biography of Kirill Safonov was supplemented with experience in emigration. But the actor did not plan to stay in this country forever - he dreamed of returning to Russia as a winner.
Chulpan Khamatova and Kirill Safonov in the play “Two on a Swing”
Having moved to Israel, Kirill Safonov mastered Hebrew in record time, literally in a few months. This allowed me to immediately immerse myself in work in the Gesher troupe. He played Levi Matvey in the play “The Devil in Moscow” based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita”. The actor also participated in the productions “The Sea”, “Mademoiselle Julie” and “The Postman Always Rings Twice”.
After 3 years of staying in Israel, the actor began to experience a bad streak: Kirill’s wife left him, and working at Gesher no longer brought pleasure. After the divorce, Safonov began life with a clean slate: he left the boring theater and got a job as a bartender. But he did not intend to break ties with the art world, so he hired an agent who was looking for a job for him in cinema.
Kirill Safonov and Kristina Orbakaite on stage
Today, the artist accepts offers not only from film directors, he gladly appears on the theater stage. In 2015, he played Jerry Raina in Galina Volchek's production of Two on a Swing. The premiere of the play took place on the stage of the famous Sovremennik Theater.
Student years
In 1990, the Safonov family moved to Krasnoyarsk. In three years, Kirill managed to master many professions, in some of them he even received a specialist diploma and worked:
- railway track repairman;
- specialist in carpentry and finishing works;
- concrete worker 3rd category;
- mason 4 categories;
- a professional driver with a qualification as a car mechanic.
In 1993, Safonov entered the Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts at the theater department. He studied here for only a year, and in the summer he transferred to Moscow for his second year at GITIS, where he ended up in the workshop of A. Goncharov. The teacher immediately appreciated the talent of Kirill Safonov, and after some time the student played in productions of the Moscow Academic Theater named after Vladimir Mayakovsky, which was directed by A. Goncharov. Kirill was involved in leading roles in the plays “Children of Vanyushin” and “Dog Waltz”.
By this time, Kirill was already married to his first wife, Elena, and he came to Moscow with her. At first they lived in a student dormitory, then the couple had a daughter, Nastya, and Goncharov helped Safonov get a room in the house of actors of the Mayakovsky Theater, located in Serebryany Bor.
But Kirill did not finish his studies at GITIS. He had a rather obstinate character, the young man was not too aware of what ranks and titles his teachers had, and could easily skip classes. Andrei Goncharov, despite his stern disposition, endured the antics of his talented student for a long time. But when Kirill disrupted the dress rehearsal of his graduation performance without finishing the monologue, he was expelled from the institute.
Movies
In his youth, while working in a bar, the artist continued to appear in episodic roles in Israeli films and was involved in dubbing for Hollywood films. During this period, Kirill Safonov appeared in the films “Dust”, “Bad Girls”, “The Bird Doesn’t Care”, and also played the role of Andrzej Rubinstein in the drama “Evening of the Saved”.
Luck smiled on the actor when Israeli director Eitan Anner invited him to work. He undertook to shoot the film “Half-Russian History” - a drama about a family of two opposite personalities. The film received positive reviews from film critics at the Moscow Film Festival in 2006, where it was presented in the competition program.
Kirill Safonov on the set
The success of “Half-Russian History” bore fruit; Kirill began to be invited to Russian projects. In 2007, Safonov played the main role in Vadim Shmelev’s film “The Apocalypse Code,” where his partner on the set was the star of the comedy sitcom “My Fair Nanny” Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, who radically changed her role.
Safonov's real success came with the main role in the popular melodrama "Tatiana's Day." This is a Russian adaptation of the Colombian telenovela “War of the Roses,” which was broadcast on the central channels of Russia and Ukraine and quickly gained high ratings. Kirill Safonov, Natalya Rudova and Anna Snatkina played the key characters of the melodrama.

After the release of the film, Kirill Safonov woke up famous and no longer looked for work in new Russian projects: directors bombarded him with offers, and only main or bright supporting roles were offered.
Today, the artist’s filmography includes dozens of films and TV series, and he often gets leading roles. Films with the participation of Kirill Safonov are always warmly received by the audience. The most notable and beloved projects were “Zhurov”, “Crisis of Faith”, “Bear Corner”, “My Autumn Blues”, “Two in the Rain” and “Chasing the Shadow”.

In 2012, the spy film “Return” was released with Safonov in the title role. The actor recreated on the screen the image of a spy who was declassified in the United States. Returning to his homeland, the hero had to retire. At home, empty walls and letters from his parents awaited him. Soon, the artist’s piggy bank included a new bright role of Kirill Kruchinin, the wife of the main character Vika (Elena Arosyeva), a domestic tyrant in the detective story “The Smile of a Mockingbird.”
Among the notable works of the star, one can note his roles in the films “Military Intelligence. Western Front", "International Airline Pilot", "Loot", "Terms of Contract" and "Those Eyes Opposite".

A striking project in Safonov’s repertoire was the melodramatic comedy “The New Wife”, where a star cast was selected, which included Alena Babenko, Mikhail Efremov, Inga Oboldina. Kirill reincarnated as a pilot who meets his first love.
In 2020, Kirill Safonov pleased fans with his appearance in the 2nd season of the series “Marriage Contract”, and in 2017 he played Ignat Belov in Oleg Fomin’s detective film “Penalty Man”. This is an action-packed 12-episode film about the difficult post-war times. The artist, as expected, got the key role.

Also in 2016, Kirill Safonov first tried his hand as a director: he presented his debut film “The Fourth” at the Moscow International Film Festival. It is noteworthy that the premiere of this short film was sold out. For this work, the director was awarded the Ruby Phoenix prize named after Yuri Gagarin as part of the Golden Phoenix film festival. In the same year, Kirill took part in the creation of a video for the song “I fell in love,” which was performed by his wife Sasha Savelyeva and other members of the “Factory” group.
In addition to acting talent, Kirill Safonov has musical and vocal talent: he writes and performs songs. While living in Israel, the artist recorded a music album called “Gulliver's Dreams,” which included 18 compositions. A few years later, Kirill Safonov and Anna Snatkina recorded the duet “Two Loves,” which became the soundtrack to the TV series “Tatiana’s Day,” where they played the main roles.
Kirill Safonov and Sasha Savelyeva in the “Evening Urgant” program
As an accomplished star of Russian cinema, Kirill Safonov is increasingly being invited to participate in various top-rated television shows and programs. In 2007, the artist was seen in the projects “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” and “Boris Notkin Invites.” Later, Kirill Safonov appeared in the program “Let Them Talk” and “Culinary Duel.” After the triumphant screening of the series “The Smile of a Mockingbird,” which eclipsed the family saga “The House with Lilies” in ratings, the artist, together with Sasha Savelyeva, visited Ivan Urgant in the “Evening Urgant” program. Later, the couple was invited to the culinary show “Smak”.
Israel
Nevertheless, the unqualified actor was still accepted into the troupe of the Stanislavsky Moscow Drama Theater. Director Vladimir Mirzoev entrusted Kirill with prominent roles in productions: the nobleman Baptist from Padua in The Taming of the Shrew based on William Shakespeare and Captain Antonio in Twelfth Night.
The salary in the theater was small, so at night after performances in his car “Seven” Kirill was engaged in private driving in order to earn extra money and feed his family. Sleepless nights later took their toll during rehearsals, quarrels began in the family due to lack of money, and in the cinema there came a period when all filming seemed to freeze - the end of the 90s.
Safonov had no choice but to accept Leonid Kanevsky’s offer and leave for Israel. It was 1999, the young man thought that in the new country everything would work out and life would be completely different. Together with his family, he moved to the city of Tel Aviv and began working at the Gesher Theater. By this time, his mother and sisters with their families were already living in Israel permanently, and Kirill with his wife and child, even in the most disappointing scenarios, would have had a place to stay, spend the night and have dinner.
In two months, Kirill learned Hebrew, then received Israeli citizenship, but he did not plan to stay in this country forever, he wanted to return to Russia.
In the theater he quickly became an active actor, playing in plays:
- “The Devil in Moscow” based on M. Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita”, Kirill had the role of Matthew Levi;
- "Mademoiselle Julie";
- "Sea";
- "Kyojin skirmishes"
But, after working in the theater for two years, Kirill did not feel any moral satisfaction at all. In addition, the family finally broke up. Safonov left the theater, divorced his wife and set off on a “free swim.”
He worked as a bartender, making coffee in one cafe during the day, and cocktails in another at night. At film studios he worked part-time as a voice-over artist for Hollywood films. At the same time, he began acting a little in Israeli cinema.
At first he received episodic roles, but soon the actor’s talent began to fully manifest itself, and Kirill played the main role in the film “Half-Russian History.” In 2006, this film was included in the competition program of the Moscow International Film Festival. The success of this film at the competition launched the film career of actor Kirill Safonov.
Personal life
The artist’s first marriage to his wife Elena lasted 10 years, but in 2001 the couple separated. Fortunately, Kirill managed to maintain friendly relations with his first wife, because his daughter Anastasia was born in this marriage. The girl stayed to live with her mother in Israel.
Kirill Safonov with his daughter
After the divorce in 2001, Kirill Safonov’s personal life seemed to be on the pause button for a long time, but in 2008, the popular actor met the lead singer of the pop group “Factory”, Alexandra Savelyeva, at a social event. A romance broke out between them, which 2 years later culminated in a luxurious wedding. The wedding ceremony took place in April 2010 on the territory of the Tsaritsyno estate.
Not everything was always smooth in the life of a married couple, but love helped them overcome all crises and find a common language. Kirill Safonov and Sasha Savelyeva admitted this when they celebrated their 5th anniversary of marriage, the so-called “wooden wedding,” in 2020.

Rumors about their separation arose periodically in 2016, but the couple denied them each time by publishing joint photos on Instagram. Sasha admitted that she was ready for motherhood and would be happy to have several children in her and Kirill’s family.
The actor is often asked about his relationship with the famous actress Elena Safonova. But Kirill and Elena are only colleagues and namesakes.
Biography of Kirill Safonov (actor)
The biography of Kirill Safonov (actor) began in the mid-70s of the last century. He was born near Krasnoyarsk. At the age of 6, the boy moved to Lviv with his parents. Mother worked in the House of Culture of the city of Lvov. It was she who had a positive influence on Cyril’s creative talent. The boy attended several sections and clubs at the same time. When the boy was 12 years old, his father left the family. He never paid child support. Kirill was not alone. The man has two more sisters, who were raised only by their mother. To help her, Kirill began working part-time in construction teams during the summer holidays.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the mother, together with Kirill and his sisters, returned to their homeland. Immediately after moving, the talented guy becomes a student at the Institute of Arts in Krasnoyarsk. But after the first year of study, the guy moved to the capital of the Russian Federation and began studying in the 2nd year at GITIS.
The young man was wayward. After he disrupted the rehearsal of his graduation production, he was expelled from the 4th year. This did not stop Kirill from getting a job at one of the best drama theaters in the capital. At the end of the 90s of the last century, the artist, together with his mother, sisters, wife and daughter, moved to Israel, where he worked at the Tel Aviv Theater, headed by Leonid Kanevsky.

During the filming of the film, actors and stars of Russian cinema were involved - Alexander Sudarev, Lana Ryder, Yulia Aug, Igor Vernik, Agniya Ditkovskite and others.

In 2020, Nastya moved to the USA, where she began her modeling career. She signed a contract with the Wilhelmina Models agency. After a personal loss, the girl began to spend more time with her father. Anastasia came to Moscow with her boyfriend.

In the summer of 2020, Kirill Safonov celebrated his anniversary on the stage of the Sovremennik Theater. The actor turned 45 years old. The birthday boy presented the film “The Fourth” to the audience, which had previously been shown only at the film festival. The holiday ended with a creative evening and a buffet reception. All proceeds from the event went to the account of the Gift of Life Charitable Foundation, which is headed by Chulpan Khamatova.
Now Safonov is starring in the films “Doctor Martov”, “Children”, “Ministry”. The artist, together with his colleague Elena Podkaminskaya, will play the main role in the drama “Others”.

Daughter of Kirill Safonov (actor) - Anastasia
The girl was born in the mid-90s of the last century. The newborn was very allergic. Nothing helped get rid of the reaction and redness. Friends from Israel often donated formulas for the baby, which were difficult to find in their country.
In 1999, the girl moved to Israel with her parents. She quickly learned Hebrew. Currently, the daughter of Kirill Safonov (actor), Anastasia, knows several foreign languages. She can speak English, French and Arabic.
Now Anastasia is already an adult woman. She recently turned 23 years old. Nastya permanently resides in the United States of America. She has a young man whom she recently introduced to her parents.
Recently, on her Instagram page, the girl posted photographs showing Kirill Safonov and his first wife Elena Safonova. And the daughter, whose photo is here, wrote that she was very sorry that her parents divorced.
Wife of Kirill Safonov (actor) - Alexandra Savelyeva
In 2010, the popular film actor fell in love. His chosen one was a young singer who is one of the regular members of the Factory group. The lovers celebrated the occasion in Russia and Israel. More than a hundred people attended the wedding.
Kirill Safonov’s wife (actor) Alexandra Savelyeva is thinking about a solo career, but she has not left the group yet. The couple often spend vacations together and love to travel. All the artist’s performances do not go unnoticed by her husband. He never tires of confessing his love to her. Currently, the couple are thinking about having a child, despite rumors about their separation appearing in the media.
Depression combined with alcohol is a dangerous mixture
After the divorce, Elena continued to live in Israel, and Kirill returned to Russia. With his return to his homeland, Safonov’s career took off. The actor played one of the key characters in the TV series “Tatiana’s Day.” After which he became popular and regularly received offers to star in domestic films.
Kirill Safonov with his daughter
Elena soon married photographer Vadim Sukharevsky. At first, the woman was happy with her new husband, but gradually everyday life destroyed her former passion. The first wife of Kirill Safonov began to abuse alcoholic beverages more and more. Kirill's ex-wife tried to find understanding from her daughter. But Anastasia was critical, putting the choice bluntly: “Either me or alcohol!” Gradually, Nastya abstracted herself from her mother, reducing communication to rare SMS messages in instant messengers.
On June 5, 2020, Kirill Safonov’s first wife, Elena, died in Israel. According to her legal husband Vadim Sukharevsky, the woman could not control her alcohol addiction. The man said the following about the last days of her life: “Lena was seriously ill. Alcoholism. It all started a long time ago. But in Israel, it is prohibited by law to forcibly send a patient to a medical institution. Nastya also tried to help her mother, but she was categorical on this issue.”
A few days before her death, Elena tried to reach Anastasia by phone and sent her more than twenty messages via messenger. But the daughter never answered. In the last SMS, the woman wrote: “This is some kind of selfishness, I will no longer try to reach you.”

In 2020, Kirill Safonov made a film that was appreciated by lovers of Russian cinema.
Soon fans will be able to see films with the artist in the title role. For example, “Penalty Man” and “Ministry” will be released in the summer of 2020.
