Biography of David Nureyev
When the rapper was about nine years old, he and his family moved to live in Moscow. They decided to change their place of residence because of the Karabakh conflict, since his father was an Armenian, like himself. Bird’s (David Nuriev’s) mother, Irada Khalil kyzy Nurieva, is Azerbaijani by nationality. Later, in connection with these events, he will record the song “Rubies” from the album “Old Secrets”.
In his youth, the guy was a real hooligan. David often did not spend the night at home and did not study properly, preferring his companions and alcohol.
Years of childhood and youth
The musician's real name is David Nuriev. He was born on June 10, 1981 in the beautiful sunny town of Baku, located in Azerbaijan. The guy lived and grew up in his hometown until he was about nine years old. Afterwards, the family was forced to move to Moscow due to the Karabakh conflict. Moreover, at a conscious age, he wrote a composition about these events, which was called “Rubies” and ended up in the album “Old Secrets”.
It later became known from reliable sources that the popular performer fell in love with music from a very early age and began to show a genuine interest in hip-hop. Many have wondered how the rapper has been able to find inspiration to write new tracks, beats, lyrics and samples all these years.
Even in his youth, he found inspiration in foreign films about gangsters. Moreover, his most famous and sonorous pseudonym also came to him from this area. He appeared immediately after the release of a film called “Above the Ring” on the big screens. Everyone's favorite legendary Tupac Shakur was filmed there; all of David's friends noticed that he dresses and behaves very similar to the hero. Tupac was called Birdie, and David was given the nickname Birdie.
From what has been described, it becomes clear that foreign films played a big role in the development of the young man. Street brawls, parties and crime occupied a dominant place in them. However, because of this, the guy got the wrong idea about good and bad.
The performer himself often admitted that in his youth he was a very naughty child. He could not only be rude to adults, but also not appear within the walls of his home for days. I could not remember my lessons at school at all; teachers often called my parents and summoned them to school. But David preferred to drink with his friends. It is difficult to imagine the ending of such behavior, but the guy was saved in 1996.
He met the rappers Bury and Screw. The guys immediately realized that they adore this musical style. Against this background, it was decided to organize a musical group with the unusual name “BJD”. A little later, MC Beast joined them, so it was decided to rename the team “Les Miserables”. The team existed with the guys for five whole years.
Around 2001, the first album of the group “Les Miserables” was released, called “Archive”. The album failed to get a large circulation, but it created an incredible sensation among listeners, especially among underground fans.
Immediately after this, David leaves the musical group. And literally three years later, “Les Misérables” released another album, which this time was called “13 Warriors”. Many were surprised by the fact that Bird's voice was heard very clearly in the chorus. The thing is that the track was recorded before he left the guys.
Period from 1996 to 2006
The singer began his journey to hip-hop in the BJD group under the leadership of Master Spencer. He performed on stage with Bury and Screw. After a little time, a new rap artist will join BJD, the name of the group will change to “Les Miserables”. After the release of the album “Archive” in 2001, Ptah decided to leave the musical composition. In 2004, this group released a new album, “13 Warriors.” Here there is the song “Happiness”, in which the former lead singer of the group managed to record his verse.
After leaving Les Misérables, rapper David Nuriev took up a solo career and recorded the album Trace of Emptiness. Tracks included in the collection:
- "Autumn".
- "Cat".
- "Thoughts".
- "They".
- "Genocide".
- "Orphan".
- "Way home".
Period from 2007 to 2009
David spent this time as part of a new group - “Centr”, which also included well-known performers Slim and Guf. In October 2007, the guys released their first album called “Swing”.
Centr rapidly gained momentum and became a popular group not only in Russia, but also in the CIS countries. In the fall of the same year, the next album, “Air is Normal,” was born. In the summer of 2009, a member of the Guf group left “Centr”.
Success in music career
As soon as Ptah left the “outcasts” of his own free will, he immediately began recording his own solo songs. It began to gain popularity at a decent pace. Very soon, director Rezo Gigineishvili invited him to his film “Heat”. It was not a major role, but an important one. The guy played the husband of the ex-girlfriend of one of the main characters. However, the most important thing is that he performed a joint track with the groups “and Timati.” They also wrote tracks for the film together.
After some time, he creates the album “Trace of Emptiness”. It included many tracks that were so loved by listeners. Many of the compositions can still be heard from apartments, cars or clubs. However, in the end, this work was never able to reach store shelves. At that moment, the young man actively helped his newly made comrade Guf write tracks. And after some time he joined the musical group “Center”. It already contained the well-known Guf, Slim and Princip.
In the same year, Ptah composed, recorded and released an album called “Swing”. This time the album reached listeners directly from the shelves. Almost all the compositions were analyzed into quotes and were incredibly loved by fans.
There were also conflicts. This is not surprising in this area. For some time, musicians knew how to sort things out with the help of music. Thus, in one of the tracks, Slim and Ptah touched upon the pride of rappers Drago, Seryoga and Steam. Later they explained this action by saying that they were tired of the constant insults from them towards Basta, Casta and Noise. Drago, unlike others, decided to immediately record a response track. The answer was accepted by all in the negative.
The rapper managed to touch not only the members of the Center group, but also their audience. Insulting everyone, without evidence.
A little more time passes, and the group releases another album - “Ether is Normal”. He also managed to gain popularity, but literally a year later Guf left. A couple more months pass and Ptah releases a solo album, which conveys the idea that without Guf there is now not only the “Center”, but also Ptah himself. This became the reason for the appearance of a new pseudonym - “Bore”. Under it, he almost immediately began releasing solo projects.
Subsequently, rapper Ptah, aka Bore, released many other albums. Thanks to work and hard work, the world was able to hear an incredible number of outstanding tracks that David's fans still adore. Videos were shot for many of the compositions.
Period from 2010 to 2012
On August 31, 2010, Ptakhi released her solo album “Cigarettes”. In the fall of the same year, a video clip for the song “Old Secrets” was released on television. It was filmed in David's old apartment on Yakimanka. At the same time, the rapper's third album is being prepared. Next year the group “Three Whales” is created. Its members: Gipsy King, Bore and Tato. In the fall of 2011, two groups (Centr, “Three Whales”) simultaneously released albums - “Legends about” and “Legends about...Centr”. In May 2012, the official announcement of the album “Three Whales” appeared on the Yandex website (music). And in June it was already on sale on CD.
On June 15 of the same year, Ptah organizes a concert (“Anniversary+1”) in honor of his birthday. This event was broadcast on almost all television channels. On December 21, 2012, the singer released his third solo album, “Old Secrets.”

Period from 2013 to 2020
In 2013, plans were made for the release of Zanuda’s second album, “On the Bottoms,” a collaboration on the mini-album “Fitova” with the group, as well as a numbered collection of songs with the group “Three Whales.” In the spring of the same year, a video for the song “On Interest” with the participation of lead singer Schokk was released on television.
On September 16, news appeared on the social network Twitter that the mini-album “Fitova” and the album “On the Bottoms” would be combined. Later, Zanuda will announce that the collection of tracks “On the Bottoms” is being postponed to the spring of 2014 due to unknown circumstances. On April 28 of the same year, David Nuraev released the album “On the Bottoms”. At the end of winter 2015, he released another collection, “Fitova”.
Personal life of David Nureyev
There is very little information about the personal life of a hip-hop artist on the Internet. He tried not to talk too much about it. David was once officially married, and from this marriage he had a daughter, Nicole. The couple met at a concert dedicated to rap culture. The girl was far from the hip-hop element and social life.
When the time for romantic dates passed, the guys quietly began to live together and make plans for the future. In 1999 they became parents. When the baby was born, he wrote the song “Nika - you are my victory” in honor of her. He still performs this track at his concerts. Some time later, the couple began to suspect each other of cheating. After a frank conversation, the couple decided to divorce.
Ptah's next girlfriend was theater and film actress Maria Kurkova. Their meeting took place on the set of the famous film “Heat”. But this union did not last long. The reason for the break in relations was the singer’s constant travel associated with tours in the rap industry. Maria realized that nothing would work out for them, since they had different priorities in life. She strived to create a happy family and really wanted to become a mother, while David was always on his hip-hop wave. He likes to create, sing songs, perform at concerts, and dreams of even greater stardom. The couple separated peacefully.
The third lover of David Nuraev was the model from Orenburg Lana Reutova. The young couple plans to tie the knot in the near future.
Bird these days
In mid-spring 2020, the singer posted a video clip on the social network for the track “Freedom 2.017”, in which he spoke disrespectfully about the participants in the March protests. And two weeks later, the premiere of a video clip similar to the previous one by Alice Vox took place. In connection with these events, both were charged by the famous politician Alexei Navalny. He said they were paid by the Kremlin to make these video clips. However, rapper David Nuriev later posted a refuting post on Instagram on this sensitive topic.
Conflict in the city of Krasnoyarsk (2015)
In 2020, when the Center group was still performing on stage in Krasnoyarsk, the Presnensky court in Moscow opened a case against David Nuriev. He was found guilty of extremism and sentenced to a fine of two hundred thousand rubles. The fact is that the Anti-Dealer movement group wrote statements against them, indicating that Center uses drugs, which they repeatedly sing about in their songs.
After the concert, band members Alexey Dolmatov (Guf) and Vadim Motylev (Slim) were detained for 6 days. A blood test showed the presence of cocaine. David managed to escape from the police. But three days later he gave a solo concert in one of the Moscow clubs. During the break, the singer made a speech in which he insulted members of the Anti-Dealer movement, and also called on his fans to write obscene words on the cars of this organization. The above situation resulted in charges and a fine.

Conflict between Slim and Guf. Role of Bird
In 2010, singer Slim released the track “Spice Baby” and a video clip for this song. The creativity of this premiere lies in the fact that the rapper parodied Guf and his well-known song “Ice Baby”. He did this in response to Guf, since Alexey once parodied Vadim (Slim) at his presentation of the new track “100 Lines”. Slim, in the song “Spice Baby,” accuses Guf of stealing his backing tracks and also of putting them on the Internet for everyone to see.
Ptah, in this difficult conflict, stood in solidarity with Vadim and took part in his “Spice Baby” video. Basically, David did not participate in this conflict and tried to stay away from everything. However, in several of his interviews, the singer expressed his position and said that he supports Slim.
Conflicts[ | ]
Beef with Drago[ | ]
In 2008, a conflict situation arose between the group Centr and the rap artist Drago after the former recorded and released the song “About Love”. In it, Ptah and Slim say that diss songs are not the main thing in rap, and Ptah in his verse insults St1m, Drago and Ayvengo. And if the first and third did not react in any way, then the second recorded a double response song “Po,” in which he jokingly insults Ptah and other members of the Centr group[32], accusing them of promoting cocaine (“the Centr group from Moscow promotes coke”), and their listeners are addicted to drugs (“three junkies pack really big crowds - not surprising: there are quite a few drug addicts in Russia”). After this song there were many videos from both sides and a challenge to a mixfight from Ptah. Drago agreed and even organized a mixed fight on territory neutral for both sides, in Ukraine, but Ptah decided not to go.
I was just crazy, I didn’t expect such a wave. It’s like a snowball: he spoke disrespectfully about Centr, I replied, off we go, but it never arrived. Bird[33] |
Guf's departure from Centr[ | ]
On June 6, 2009, certain events took place in Lugansk, which members of the Centr group are silent about. There is only evidence that after a conflict with Slim and Ptah, Guf left the team and decided to engage in solo work. After Guf left, rumors began to appear about the breakup of the group. This event became so striking and loud that at the Russian Street Awards 2010, the “breakup of the Centr group” won in the “Hip-Hop Event of the Year” category.
The real question is why we broke up. This did not happen because we were jealous of him. The true reason for the collapse is rooted in the events of June 6, 2009 in Lugansk.Ptakha[33] |
The role of Bird in the conflict between Gufa and Slim
In 2010, Slim released the song “Spice Baby” and a video for it, in which he parodies Gufa and, in particular, the song “Ice Baby”, in response to such actions of Alexey as parodying Vadim on presentation of his second album and recording of the song “100 Lines”. In the track “Spice Baby,” Slim accuses Guf of stealing his backing tracks and making them publicly available. In his video, Slim parodied Guf and used his phrases. Bird took Slim’s side in their scandal and starred in his “Spice Baby” video.
Ptah did not interfere in any particular way and stir up the scandal and largely remained aloof from it. Although he gave a couple of interviews on this topic, supporting Slim's side.
After 2 months, Ptah publishes a video clip for the track “Old Age” jointly with Princip.
This video is intended to remind us of what it could have been like if one of us had not caught a star and had not started shitting and provoking us for so long and brazenly. <…> Since we were given the word not to touch us, we will no longer react, we will do better with music. We wish love and goodness to everyone who is for ZM, the same to everyone who supports the Central Administrative District, and we ask you not to be fooled by provocations. They are still children, and you should treat them with understanding and tenderness. |
Conflict with Basta and Oxxxymiron[ | ]
In January 2015, Ptakha gave an interview to the Chita.ru website, in which he criticized the work of the Gazgolder rap label, headed by Basta. In his opinion, new artists, having signed a contract with Gazgolder, disappear from view. A couple of months later, Gazgolder managed to remove Ptah’s release from sale on iTunes, which featured one of the artists on their label, as being placed there without a contract and violating copyright[7][34].
In the same interview, he spoke unflatteringly about Miron’s work and his listeners:
“At the moment I can say that I am ashamed of Russian rap. Nowadays there are a lot of incomprehensible rappers - they rhyme well, they have technique, but there is no rap in them. They are not representatives of hip-hop culture, they are mainstream people who make money from it. For them it is a business and nothing more. They have never been in this culture, they have not been exposed to this Russian culture. There are some visiting, damn it, rappers from Europe who used to humiliate Russian rap, and now they rap in Russian, like Oxxxymiron. And people listen to them. I saw their listeners, God forbid that I have such.”
- A. Zatirko. “Bird: Everyone used to do hip-hop, now they do grandmas”[34]
In April, Oxxxymiron mentioned Ptah in the track “Deja Vu”: “Bird says that there is no rap in me - okay, there is no Ptah in my rap.” Bird threatened to explain to Myron “who should not be touched in the verses”[7].
Conflict with the Anti-Dealer movement[ | ]
In the fall of 2020, the Meshchansky Interdistrict Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for the Central Administrative District of Moscow of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated charges against David Nuriev under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or hostility towards a group of persons united on the basis of “providing assistance to law enforcement agencies in the search and detention of criminals”). The reason was the musician’s speech at a concert at the 16 Ton club on September 23, 2020, in which he called the volunteer police assistants from the Anti-Dealer movement vicious women and called for writing unprintable words on the movement’s cars. The event itself took place after the detention of Guf and Slim in Krasnoyarsk by the FSKN forces with the participation of “Anti-dealer[7]”. In March 2020, Nuriev, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to a fine of 200 thousand rubles.[35]
Conflict with Alexei Navalny[ | ]
In April 2020, Ptah published a video clip for the song “Freedom 2.017,” in which he called the participants in the March protests, who came out “with Uncle Sam’s money,” “majors.” A few weeks later, immediately after the premiere of Alice Vox’s video for the song “Baby,” with a similar meaning, politician Alexei Navalny accused both of them of being paid by the Kremlin for these songs. Later, Ptah published a post on Instagram in which he denied all accusations, however, the post was soon deleted[36][37]. The media partially confirmed the artists’ involvement in the “state order”[38]. This act caused a massive negative reaction from society, and in musical circles the artists were criticized and subjected to sharp condemnation[39]
Singer awards and nominations
David Nuriev received four awards for his best works:
- In 2008, Zanuda wins among all nominations with the song “City of Roads,” in which Basta directly participated (group “Centr”, award - MTV Russia Music Awards - “Best Hip-Hop Song”).
- In 2008, the singer became the winner in four categories: “Artist of the Year”, “Album of the Year”, “Best Video”, “Event of the Year” (group “Centr”, award - Final vote of Rap.ru).
- In 2010, after the group “Centr” broke up, he was nominated for “Event of the Year” (award - Russian Street Awards).
- In the “Album of the Year” nomination, David won another award in 2012 (award - Final vote of Rap.ru).
