Life before the SONGS project
Oleg has dreamed of creative work since his school years. From childhood, his parents taught him to be creative; he was interested in music and attended various performances. After graduating from school, he entered a theater university in Tashkent . During his studies, the guy worked part-time as an ambulance paramedic to support himself financially. But Oleg did not forget about creativity and at the same time was engaged in writing poetry and music. At university, Oleg learned to rap. And experienced teachers helped him with this.
In 2020, Oleg joined the troupe of the Academic Russian Theater in Tashkent . He played roles in three theatrical productions - “ Provincial Anecdotes ” (based on the play by Alexander Vampilov), “ The Inspector General ” and “ The Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor ”. They have become his calling cards, and he is invited to appear in other productions. In the production of “ Provincial Anecdotes ”, Oleg masterfully played the role of a cheerful and pumped up guy. While studying at a theater university, Oleg studied music and participated in competitions. In 2018 he graduated and received a diploma.

Childhood and youth
The future star of the television project “Songs” was born in Tashkent in the fall of 1993. In the family of Oleg Ternovoy – this is the artist’s given name at birth – there were no people associated with the world of art and show business, but his parents encouraged creativity in their son: Oleg dreamed of becoming an actor from early childhood.

However, in his senior year, Ternovoy almost betrayed his childhood dream and did not become a student at a medical university. Fortunately for singer Terry's current fans, he came to his senses and entered the local theater institute.
Some sources say that during his student years, Terry worked part-time as an ambulance paramedic, but this information is unlikely to be true, because Ternovoy does not have a medical education. But service in the Tashkent Academic Russian Theater, into whose troupe the young artist joined in 2020, is a confirmed fact.

On the theatrical stage, the aspiring actor played a key role in the play “Provincial Anecdotes” based on the play by playwright Alexander Vampilov, and appeared in “The Inspector General” and “The Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor.” In the first production, Ternovoy showed off his skill, transforming himself into Kamaev, a shirtless guy and a ladies' favorite. In Gogol's The Inspector General, the artist was entrusted with the role of the curious postmaster Shpekin.
According to the artist, he started rapping at a theater university, and the institute’s teachers helped him a lot with this. The future rapper participated in music competitions and worked on his vocals. In 2018, Oleg Ternovoy became a certified actor, but the desire to sing won out.

Oleg began writing lyrics for songs and poems while still studying at the institute. In 2013, he participated in the all-Russian casting “ Young Blood ”, the purpose of which was to conclude a contract with the recording studio “ Black Star ”. Oleg did not win (the singer Natan won), but he gained valuable experience, met other rappers and Timati.

Show "Songs"
In 2013, Oleg Ternovoy took part in the all-Russian casting “Young Blood”, the main goal of which is a contract with the Black Star music label. Several hundred young artists from all over the country and neighboring countries took part in the competition. Despite the fact that the singer Natan won, Oleg gained valuable experience and talked with popular artists of the rap scene and met Timati. This was doubly important for the young man, because he had been obsessed with Timati’s work since he was 13 years old.

In the summer of 2020, Ternovoy sent an application to participate in the musical project “Songs” on the TNT channel. The producers of the show were famous Russian musicians: Timati, already familiar to Oleg, and the head of the MALFA label, Maxim Fadeev.
At the casting, the guy performed a song of his own composition, “Hype,” the lyrics and performance of which impressed the judges of the show, including showman Garik Martirosyan. Oleg began his performance with an impressive vocal passage and ended it with a virtuoso flow, receiving three “yes” from the jury members.

As a result of the subsequent stages of casting, Ternovoy, who took the bright stage name Terry, ended up in Timati’s team and began to fight for the main prize - a contract with his Black Star label. Oleg's competitors were PLC (Sergey Trushchev), DanyMuse (Daniil Burtsev), NaZima, Jay Mar (Nikita Lukashev), Solomona (Ilona Solomonova), Nastika (Anastasia Rubtsova), Ronny (Veronika Batrakova), AnnJarel (Anna Ksendzik) and Lesha Bankes .
The participants of the show settled in apartments in Moscow City - the whole country watched the life, rehearsals and relationships between the young artists as part of the reality show. At the same time, the participants in “Songs” were deprived of contact with the outside world; they could not go online or contact loved ones by phone, which made it much more difficult to stay on the project.
According to Oleg, living in an apartment in Moscow City forced him to think about his past and present life. The artist admitted that for the last five years he has gradually closed himself off from the outside world and people because of personal failures and the framework into which he tirelessly drove himself because of the desire to be “good” for everyone, but now he wants to be himself not only stage, but also in everyday life.
After the first broadcasts of the show, Oleg gained many fans and admirers who actively vote for their favorite artist and create various fan communities online, where they wish Ternovy good luck in the popular television project.

In mid-May 2020, Terry’s tracks “Intercom” and “Mega” took leading positions in the Russian iTunes charts, second only to “No More Strength” by Kristina Kosheleva.
On June 2, 2020, the final concert of “Songs” was broadcast. Terry performed his own song “Mercury”, dedicated to his life path: no matter what the obstacles on the path to a dream, they will not stop a person who firmly believes in his success - he will still take what is his.
According to the voting results, it was Oleg Ternovoy, a simple guy from Uzbekistan, who became the winner of the “Songs” show and received a 5 million cash prize. He went on stage, received the winner’s statuette from the hands of Pavel Volya and made a fiery speech, which, by the way, he had not prepared - in previous times he had often made preparations for such an occasion, but had never been able to deliver them. The young man dedicated his victory to his mother.

His idol Timati signed a contract with another participant - DanyMuse, but Oleg also joined the ranks of BlackStar participants. But before that, he returned to his homeland and recovered among friends and family from the emotional shock he had earned thanks to the show.
At the beginning of December 2020, the singer presented a video for the new song “Not about Love.” The video turned out to be very sensual - the main roles were played by Oleg himself and Alexandra Goroshko, a participant in the “Dancing” show, who embodied the image of a dancer who had lost her hearing.

During this “detachment” from the outside world, Oleg reflected on his behavior and life, deciding not only to be himself on stage, but also in the ordinary world.
Oleg received support and fans who voted for him. the finals of the “ Songs on TNT ” project, but according to the results of the popular vote and the decision of the judges, Terry . The singer received all-Russian fame, a contract with Black Star , and a remuneration of 5 million rubles. But, the contract within the project was signed with DanyMuse . Timati signed a contract with Terry outside the project.
Oleg was remembered by the audience for the songs “ Intercom ”, “ Mega ” and duet with Yegor Creed , as well as his desire to win. These two songs were in the top list on iTunes in May 2020, second only to the song “ No More Strength ” by singer Kristina Kosheleva . Terry wrote his first poems and lyrics as a student. And the first project in which the musician tried his hand was the musical reality show “Young Blood”, which appeared with the light hand of rapper Timati on the STS TV channel. The goal of the project is to search for young talents. Then, in 2013, Terry did not become a leader, but wrote the first page of his musical biography, declaring himself as a vocalist. Oleg's competitor, vocalist Natan, won.

The luck that slipped away only encouraged the rapper: Ternovoy had a dream of concluding a contract with the Black Star recording studio, the same as Natan. Meeting successful colleagues and rap star Timati encouraged Terry to work on himself.
4 years later, in the height of summer 2017, Terry tried his luck for the second time and caught his luck by the tail: his application to participate in the “Songs” show project was accepted. The producers - Timati, already familiar to Ternovy, and the head of the MALFA music label, Maxim Fadeev - gave the guy from Uzbekistan a chance, and he passed the selection.

In conditions of forced isolation, Oleg rethought a lot in life. He realized that for the last 5 years he had withdrawn too much into himself and closed himself off from his family and friends, plunging headlong into creativity. He also began to play the role of a “good guy,” trying to please everyone. The rapper decided that from now on he would only be himself.

In the finale of the TV show, the performer was supported by thousands of fans who voted for him, and he became one of the five favorite participants. The popular vote and the judges' decision brought the winner Terry the main award and all-Russian fame, as well as 5 million rubles in prize money and a long-awaited contract with Timati and Black Star, but outside the project. As part of the project, Terry was offered a contract with DanyMuse.
In the finale, the rapper performed the sparkling track “Mercury,” multiplying the number of fans many times over. The rapper dedicated his victory in the project to his mother, giving her a statuette, which was presented to him by Pavel Volya at the final concert.
