Personal life
Sasha Zvereva has three children: daughter Vasilisa (born December 7, 2003) and son Makar (born July 8, 2008) from her first marriage to banker Ilya, and son Lev (born July 17, 2015) from her second marriage to DJ Dmitry Almazov.
Performances at ATP tournaments
In 2020, the German tennis player focused on performing at ATP series tournaments. In the first season, Sasha loudly announced himself, beating Stan Wawrinka in three sets at his “native” Russian tournament. Also, excellent performances at competitions allowed the German to climb to 24th place in the rankings.
The next two seasons in the career of the young athlete became the most successful. In 2020, Sasha won five ATP series tournaments, three of which were on his favorite hard court. The German also pleased with his performances at the Grand Slam. In Australia, Alexander reached the third round, and at Wimbledon - to the fourth. At the end of the season, Sasha made it into the top ten tennis players in the world, taking fourth position. At the beginning of November of the same year, the German climbed to the highest position in his career - third.
The start of the 2020 season turned out to be a mess. At the Grand Slam tournament in Australia, the German reached the third round. The first successes came in early May, when two titles were won: in Munich and Madrid. In the summer, at the Grand Slam tournament in France, Sasha reached the quarterfinals, which is the best performance in Grand Slam tournaments. At the end of the summer another trophy was won. At the tournament in Washington, the Australian de Minaur was defeated in two sets. Excellent performances during the season helped the German tennis player qualify for the Final Tournament, which took place in London.
In tennis, Alexander Zverev achieved outstanding success for his age. By the age of 21, the German had won ten ATP tournaments and confidently took a place in the top ten of the world rankings.

Ex-soloist of “Demo” Sasha Zvereva: “Soviet-trained mothers pass on false experience to us”
“I am not advocating for home births”
At meetings with existing and future parents, the singer talks about her experience in raising children. Zvereva shares with her listeners everything from conception to treatment of babies. It is worth noting that Sasha is an active user of social networks. Almost every day she posts photos from the lives of her children - daughter Vasilisa, sons Makar and Lev. In fact, Zvereva’s subscribers on social networks are the visitors to her trainings. To be fair, it is worth noting that during the two-day courses, the singer actually gives quite a lot of interesting information. But some of her stories shock unprepared people. For example, in Ufa, Sasha casually mentioned that the placenta after childbirth, it turns out, can be eaten as a dietary supplement to maintain the strength of a young mother. For example, some women in the USA do just that. But that's not all. According to Zvereva, before giving birth it won’t hurt to dilate the cervix with lemon. By the way, Zvereva gave birth to all three children not in the maternity hospital, but at home. True, in the presence of a midwife. Sasha herself claims that she does not encourage women to give birth in this way, but only gives them modern information.
— I share my own experience, my best practices. During the time I became a mother three times, I accumulated a lot of information,” explains Sasha. — It’s been 13 years since my first pregnancy. During this time, a lot has been added to my mind, a lot of new things have appeared. Some questions go against what mothers and grandmothers tell us. Today, Soviet-era mothers are passing on to us a slightly false experience. As a result, if we follow it, we make a lot of mistakes. I want to tell new things that might surprise the girls and shock them. Then the seminar participants independently begin to “Google”, delve into it, and over time a transformation occurs. I receive a lot of letters in the mail about how girls after my course give birth differently, their destinies change, everything in their lives changes for the better. I plant the seed of doubt in the girls that they don’t have to believe in everything they were told, and they get the information themselves.
— Aren’t you afraid that this will lead to negative consequences?
- I suggest the direction on how to go right. I don’t advocate for home births, I don’t talk about it at all. I'm simply talking about the birth of a child, as nature intended.
“If I have to leave America, I will cry a lot”
— How do you have enough time for everything with three children?
“The secret is that no one will do all the work except me anyway.” When there is at least someone to whom we can shift some of the responsibility and work, we always try to give it to someone - dad, grandma. And when there is no one nearby and you need to survive and move on, then you just take it and do it.
- What do you do when you have no strength at all?
- I go to bed. Or I go to the ocean, which has incredible energy. For me, the ocean is a kind of living substance. I understand that this is not a person, but you come to him and it’s as if you were visiting God. I talked, and strength came from somewhere. My mother noticed this too. So you take a walk on the ocean with Levushka, push the stroller and go home cheerful and cheerful. He nourishes me.
— What is the main difference between Russia and the USA?
— The uniqueness of Russia lies in its rich history. Our family tree is much richer, and you can feel it. Our roots are much stronger, but America's roots are weak.
— Have you encountered Russophobia in the States?
- Never. Everything that happens in Russia in relation to the Americans does not even weigh in the balance in relation to the Americans’ attitude towards us. They simply adore us. And all because they don’t show on TV what they show on ours. They don’t watch TV at all, don’t listen to the news, but focus on a healthy lifestyle, their diet, and their career. So these are all political games. They never talk about Russians the way Russians talk about Americans - “Pindos”. When they give me food at the checkout, they hear my accent and ask where I’m from, they’re always happy to hear that I’m from Russia.
— Under what conditions would you agree to return to Russia?
- Under no circumstances. There are no such conditions and cannot exist. The States have the Pacific Ocean. Of course, we also have an ocean in Vladivostok, but it’s cold there. And I love the mild, warm climate. I feel very good and comfortable in America. And if I ever go back, I'll cry a lot. I’m already used to it, I’ve grown accustomed to it. Perhaps ten years will pass and something will change, but for now I’m afraid to even imagine it.
— What things do you miss in the States? What is missing?
- Russian language. I really want to chat in Russian, I like it when Russian is spoken around me, and I understand everything. But it’s a little different there. And although it has become better now, because I have begun to understand much more in English, still.
“It makes me sad to look at my colleagues from the 90s”
— Do you remember anything about Ufa?
— This is not my first or even my fifth time in Ufa. Since 1999, I toured as a soloist of the Demo group, then as a singer Sasha Zvereva. Over these 17 years, I have been to your city many times. I remember Bashkortostan because it is very beautiful here, amazing nature. When we traveled to other cities of the republic, I always photographed your landscapes and admired nature. You also have very tasty food, a lot of sweets. The audience at my concerts in Bashkiria has always been very responsive, the reaction of people in the clubs is simply amazing. And not only at my concerts, but also at the performances of DJ Bobina, my husband Dima Almazov.
— Isn’t it sad that after your career as a singer, you completely retrained as a mother?
- No. On the contrary, I feel very good about it. A person is not fixated on one thing, but can be multifaceted. It’s cool that you can be successful in both Russia and America, win your audience, achieve success. When you do it from the heart and get a kick out of it, it turns out great.
— Do you have fans in America?
- Of course, there are a lot of Russians there. They remember me very well. Three weeks ago I was at a concert in Seattle, I’ve already performed in New York three times, and in Chicago.
— How realistic is it to continue your singing career?
- I don't want. I deliberately do not do this either in the States or in Russia. I don't want more, I like to perform the songs that I already have. If I have new compositions, I will sing them, but I will not fight like a fish against ice to promote them. To be honest, it makes me sad to look at my colleagues from the 90s, because they write every song with the hope of “well, now there will definitely be a hit,” “this one will definitely shoot.” They send them to each other to see if it’s cool or fashionable. Well, guys, it’s already clear that if you made 10 songs, and they haven’t taken off since 2000, then it’s unlikely that anything will happen. I love what I do. I think I will continue to transform in my information and mother affairs. And music is a bonus, a pleasant hobby.
— What part of life remains behind the scenes?
- Let her stay there. That's what her personal life is for.

Career
In March 1999, Sasha signed a contract and became the soloist of the group, where, in addition to her, two dancers performed, and on April 26, their debut public performance took place on the stage of the Moscow Palace of Youth. In the summer, the musicians’ first compositions – “The Sun” and “2000 Years” – already occupied leading positions in the charts, the whole country knew them by heart and sang them: “The sun in the hands and a wreath of stars in the sky...”.
Sasha Zvereva in her youth and now For several years in a row there was not a single break in the Demo tour schedule. During this time, the group traveled throughout the vast expanses of the former CIS and gained wide popularity abroad: they toured the Baltics, Great Britain, Australia, and Israel. The group's concerts attracted full halls and stadiums, including the Olympic Stadium, the Ice Palace and the Luzhniki Stadium. The audience was captivated by the performer's beautiful voice, her charisma, spectacular outfits, and also the fact that she never performed to a soundtrack. Over the eleven years of its existence, the group released seven albums and won many honorary music awards, including the Golden Gramophone in 1999. The success was largely due to Zvereva, who won the hearts of millions of listeners with her “live” performance and powerful charisma. Demo – Sun in Hands (1999) In the fall, a video for the song “Sun” was shown on television. At the end of the year, for this composition the musicians became laureates of the Golden Gramophone award, the award ceremony of which took place in the Kremlin. In terms of popularity among domestic stars, the group was second only to Alla Pugacheva and “Time Machine” at that time. Then there was filming of a video for the song “I Don’t Know” on the streets of Prague and a grand tour of cities in the USA and Germany, where they inevitably met with success.
On April 26, 2009, in the Moscow club “Tochka”, the singer shone at an anniversary concert in honor of the 10th anniversary of the group. Then, as part of the group, she visited more than 40 cities of the Russian Federation, Europe and America with concerts. During the same period, the compositions “First Kiss”, “Point”, “Don’t Be Silent”, which later became hits, were released. A video clip was shot for the last of these songs in the Northern capital by director Mikhail Lapis, a friend and admirer of Sasha’s work. Interestingly, its filming took place on the set of the film “Peter FM” by Oksana Bychkova.
In total, with the participation of Alexandra, the Demo group released 7 studio albums, including “DJ Remix 2000”, “Above the Sky”, “Goodbye Summer”, “Rainbow”, and received many music awards (“Stopudovy hit”, “Song of the Year”, "Bomb of the Year") In May 2012, she officially announced the end of their joint activities, deciding to pursue a solo career.
In her new capacity, she released the singles “Stay”, “As before” (ft. El Ray), “Superboy” (ft. Sasha Dith & Steve Modana), “Woman”, “Yadovita”, video clips for the song “I’m going crazy” , “Why”, “Maybe”.
In 2011, Sasha Zvereva began her solo career. The singer’s fans (even in Ulan-Ude in July 2014) and her conceptually new two-hour concert performance “Dj-singer-show” were greeted with delight by the singer’s fans, during which her strong live vocals sounded among the hit tracks, energizing present with amazing energy and breaking the idea of traditional DJ sets.
In 2020, the artist presented her debut solo album “Thank You” to the public, on the cover of which she appeared with “a belly in a rounded tummy,” as the media jokingly noted.
In parallel with her musical work, Sasha was a guest, expert, host of a number of entertainment television shows on the country's central channels, and with her friends - TV presenter Ksenia Borodina and rapper Guf's wife Aiza Dolmatova - she was opening her own clothing store. In 2020, while pregnant with her third child, she took part in the reality show “Pregnant” on the family TV channel “Domashny”. Together with two other project participants - Tutta Larsen and Polina Dibrova - she told the audience the secrets of preparing for motherhood. Sasha Zvereva - Maybe (2015)

An excerpt characterizing Zverev, Alexandra Valerievna
- For God's sake, can you make it easier for me? - said the courier, - my bag is full of letters to my parents. Among these letters was a letter from Nikolai Rostov to his father. Pierre took this letter. In addition, Count Rastopchin gave Pierre the sovereign’s appeal to Moscow, just printed, the latest orders for the army and his latest poster. Having looked through the orders for the army, Pierre found in one of them, between the news of the wounded, killed and awarded, the name of Nikolai Rostov, who was awarded the 4th degree by George for his bravery in the Ostrovnensky case, and in the same order the appointment of Prince Andrei Bolkonsky as commander of the Jaeger regiment. Although he did not want to remind the Rostovs about Bolkonsky, Pierre could not resist the desire to please them with the news of his son’s award and, leaving with him the appeal, poster and other orders, in order to bring them to dinner himself, he sent a printed order and a letter to Rostov. A conversation with Count Rostopchin, his tone of concern and haste, a meeting with a courier who carefreely talked about how badly things were going in the army, rumors about spies found in Moscow, about a paper circulating in Moscow, which says that Napoleon promises to to be in both Russian capitals, the conversation about the expected arrival of the sovereign the next day - all this with renewed vigor aroused in Pierre that feeling of excitement and expectation that had not left him since the appearance of the comet and especially since the beginning of the war. Pierre had long ago had the idea of entering military service, and he would have carried it out if he had not been hindered, firstly, by his belonging to that Masonic society, with which he was bound by an oath and which preached eternal peace and the abolition of war, and, in secondly, the fact that, looking at the large number of Muscovites who put on uniforms and preached patriotism, he was for some reason ashamed to take such a step. The main reason why he did not carry out his intention to enter military service was the vague idea that he was l'Russe Besuhof, having the meaning of the animal number 666, that his participation in the great matter of setting the limit of power to the beast, which says great and blasphemy, it was determined from eternity and that therefore he should not undertake anything and wait for what must happen. At the Rostovs', as always on Sundays, some of their close acquaintances dined. Pierre arrived earlier to find them alone. Pierre had gained so much weight this year that he would have been ugly if he had not been so tall, large in limbs, and so strong that he obviously carried his weight easily. He, puffing and muttering something to himself, entered the stairs. The coachman no longer asked him whether to wait. He knew that when the count was with the Rostovs, it was until twelve o’clock. The Rostovs' lackeys joyfully rushed to take off his cloak and accept his stick and hat. Pierre, as was his club habit, left his stick and hat in the hall. The first face he saw from the Rostovs was Natasha. Even before he saw her, he, taking off his cloak in the hall, heard her. She sang solfege in the hall. He realized that she had not sung since her illness, and therefore the sound of her voice surprised and delighted him. He quietly opened the door and saw Natasha in her purple dress, which she had worn at mass, walking around the room and singing. She walked backwards towards him when he opened the door, but when she turned sharply and saw his fat, surprised face, she blushed and quickly approached him. “I want to try singing again,” she said. “It’s still a job,” she added, as if apologizing. - And wonderful. – I’m so glad you came! I'm so happy today! - she said with the same animation that Pierre had not seen in her for a long time. – You know, Nicolas received the St. George Cross. I'm so proud of him. - Well, I sent an order. Well, I don’t want to disturb you,” he added and wanted to go into the living room. Natasha stopped him. - Count, is it bad that I sing? - she said, blushing, but without taking her eyes off, looking questioningly at Pierre. - No... Why? On the contrary... But why are you asking me? “I don’t know myself,” Natasha quickly answered, “but I wouldn’t want to do anything that you wouldn’t like.” I believe you in everything. You don’t know how important you are to me and how much you have done for me!..” She spoke quickly and not noticing how Pierre blushed at these words. “I saw in the same order, he, Bolkonsky (she said this word quickly, in a whisper), he is in Russia and is serving again. “What do you think,” she said quickly, apparently in a hurry to speak because she was afraid for her strength, “will he ever forgive me?” Will he have any ill feelings against me? How do you think? How do you think? “I think...” said Pierre. “He has nothing to forgive... If I were in his place...” Through the connection of memories, Pierre’s imagination instantly transported him to the time when, comforting her, he told her that if he were not he, but the best person in the world and free , then he would be on his knees asking for her hand, and the same feeling of pity, tenderness, love would overcome him, and the same words would be on his lips. But she didn't give him time to say them.
German Sasha Zverev is the pride of Russia
Cotton overalls suede sneakers , adidas; watch , Richard Mille.
When he was one and a half years old, he picked up a racket for the first time. At five, Sasha Zverev took to the court. At 12 he began playing for the German youth team. At the age of 16, he played as a professional in the ATP tournament. Then he was 1537th. Now Sasha Zverev is the third racket of the world, and the Swiss Roger Federer, whom he dreamed of being like since childhood and whom he beat in June 2020 at a tournament in Halle, Germany, predicts for him the future of the main tennis player on the planet.
Sasha Zverev made his mark in earnest at the Australian Open junior tournament in 2014. Russian sports media then reported with slight envy: “German Zverev beat American Kozlov.” But the prodigy's fans - from his native Hamburg to Sochi, where his mother and father were born - rejoiced at the victory.
Alexander Zverev, Sasha’s father and coach, who was sitting in the stands at the time, had never participated in such tournaments himself.
“The Soviet Union did not support the apartheid regime in South Africa, so tennis players were forced to withdraw from competitions if South African players participated,” he recalls. “So I had to miss a lot of competitions.” In 1991, Zverev moved to Germany with his wife Irina and son Mikhail. And already on the German courts, Mikhail became Misha, and his younger brother, born in Hamburg, became Sasha.
“When we left, the economic situation in Russia was very bad,” recalls Zverev Sr. – After living in Germany for ten years, we realized that there was no point in returning home. And we just changed our citizenship.”
Russia seems to Sasha Zverev to be a very big country. Zverev, a fan of sports cars, can drive through his native Germany in six hours. He has no idea how many hours it takes to cross Russia - he has never traveled east of Moscow. The last time I was in St. Petersburg was in 2020, when in the finals of St. Petersburg Open beat the then third world racket of the Swiss Stan Wawrinka. The German national team player, who permanently resides in Monaco, speaks fluent Russian, like everyone else in his family: “I haven’t really seen anything yet, but I really, really liked it in Russia,” says Sasha. – Firstly, because I won the tournament. And secondly, St. Petersburg is very beautiful. And Russian people are amazing. If they don't know someone, they may seem cold. And when they find out, they even become too hospitable. This is a very interesting Russian trait.”
However, the tennis player is in no hurry to call himself Russian: “My brother and I spent almost our entire lives in Europe. My friends are German, I grew up in Hamburg. Russia is a completely different country. The people there and the culture are different. I feel more German than Russian. Although in Monaco I most often speak Russian.”
The photo shoot by the pool ended half an hour ago. Now Sasha is sitting in her room in a Monaco hotel. It seems that there are interruptions in the Internet in the principality - the video image in Skype turns off in the first minute.
Having sorted out his laptop, the 20-year-old tennis player almost immediately begins to talk about his poodle Levik. The dog has two Facebook pages and 300 subscribers, and this is only 15 times less than Sasha himself. Levik lives in Germany, with his parents.
“We have a friendly family,” says Sasha. My father is a coach, my brother is the 52nd racket in the world and a sparring partner, and my mother is a personal psychologist. At the same time, the Zverevs try to separate working relationships and personal life: “Off the court, I need freedom and personal life. Of course, my father and I sometimes go out to dinner. But he understands: if we are together 24 hours a day, we will drive each other crazy.”
Leather and suede pullover watch , Richard Mille.
Sasha has already surpassed the achievements of his father and older brother. At the age of 17, Misha finished the season in 595th place in the ATP world rankings. At the same age, Sasha was in the top 300. Misha is not jealous of his younger brother's successes. Moreover, there was a time when Misha spent all the prize money to pay Sasha for court rentals and trips to tournaments.
I ask what else is in his life besides family and tennis?
It turns out that the fifth racket loves basketball. He's a Miami Heat fan and sometimes shoots hoops himself. The parameters for this are what you need - Zverev is one of the tallest tennis players of our time, his height is 198 centimeters. But Sasha never wanted to fight for the NBA Cup. All he needs is a grand slam.
A few days ago, Sasha returned from the Rotterdam Open tournament, where he lost to the 62nd racket of the world to Italian Andreas Seppi. The match ended after midnight, and Zverev almost immediately fell asleep in his room, which is not at all like him.
After losing in the second round of the US Open in 2017, Sasha did not train for a week. “I think this happens to every athlete. On the Internet you can see what happens when I can’t help myself. After heavy losses, I don’t want to hear anything about tennis.”
Zverev is known for his violent character: he broke rackets, called judges “fucking morons”, and, addressing the Association of Professional Tennis Players, once said: “You don’t give a damn about the players. You’ll soon have us playing on the ice.”
I'm trying to understand what a man is thinking when he runs around the court for seven hours straight, playing against the best athletes in the world. Does he have nightmares after matches? “I don’t have nightmares. I dream about how I win big tournaments.” Does success and attention put pressure on him? “At first I was happy about it, but then I realized that people were starting to expect more from me than I had managed to do. But I try not to think about it."
Cotton long sleeve wool trousers , Lanvin; socks , adidas; watch , Richard Mille.
I ask him to explain what success is. An article on Wikipedia, the first fee equal to the annual salary of a decent lawyer, nude photos from unknown girls on social networks?
“When I was 17 years old, I reached the semi-finals of a tournament in Hamburg, being number 150 in the world, and it was a huge victory. And now I’m third, and such a result would be a defeat for me,” explains Sasha via a failed Skype.
“When Federer and Nadal say that you will be number one in the world, it’s nice. But I try to listen to people as little as possible. I was the first racket among juniors, but there were many like them. And most of them did not repeat their success at the adult level,” he says. Sasha is silent for a few seconds, and then adds: “To be honest, nothing really has changed in my life.”
It's time to end the interview. To make it to the future that is prophesied for him, Sasha Zverev, unlike most people, needs to run much faster. Almost all the time. Right now.

*The text “Nuclear Racket” published in May (No. 202) GQ contains a number of errors. Mikhail Zverev did not celebrate his wedding in Sochi and, moreover, is not only a sparring partner of Alexander Zverev, but also a famous professional tennis player, the 52nd racket of the world in the ATP rankings. All vodka mentioned in the text was misinterpreted by the journalist. The editors apologize to the Zverev family and all those affected. *
