Pavel Gusev, wife and personal life

Career

MK is Gusev’s life’s work: the position he holds has not changed since 1983. The main emphasis at the beginning of the journey was on maintaining reader interest. In the 90s, thanks to a talented leader, every fourth Moscow resident bought the newspaper, and it, as they say, “roared.” A lot of effort was put into this - overnight stays in the editorial office, studying everywhere and everything.

Over time, both Pavel Nikolaevich’s activities and the geography of the publication expanded noticeably. News from it was learned in the USA, Israel, Canada, Latvia, and Kazakhstan. The editor-in-chief managed to work in the capital's government and the Public Chamber of the Moscow Region, while not losing the reins of editorial leadership. As chairman of the Moscow Union of Journalists, he was credited with bringing together the brightest, most respected and courageous colleagues.

Media tycoon Pavel Gusev
True, in order to stay afloat, he had to agree to unexpected topics, because of which Komsomolets, which at that time was already the property of Gusev, noticeably “yellowed.”

Over the many years of its existence, the newspaper has been repeatedly criticized and involved in legal proceedings. Her “father” had to demonstrate the skills of a real diplomat, able to smooth out conflicts and keep journalists in their jobs. For his work and faithful service, Gusev was awarded medals and honorary titles.

Biography[edit]

In 1971 he graduated from the Moscow Geological Exploration Institute. S. Ordzhonikidze; 1975 - postgraduate studies at the same institute. In 1986 - Literary Institute named after. A. M. Gorky. In 1971-1974, junior researcher at the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute. In 1975-1983 - in Komsomol bodies (Krasnopresnensky district committee of the Komsomol of Moscow, Central Committee of the Komsomol). Since 1983, he has been the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets (MK), which he privatized nine years later.

Under Gusev's leadership, Moskovsky Komsomolets in the early 1990s turned from a niche Komsomol publication into one of the most popular newspapers in the country. In 1992, he served as minister in the Moscow government, heading the Department of Press and Information. Since 2006, Chairman of the Public Chamber Commission on Communications, Information Policy and Freedom of Speech in the Media.

Viktor Shenderovich wrote that Gusev began “his public evolution as a staunch member of the Komsomol Central Committee, before our eyes he consistently emerged as a perestroika of the Gorbachev wave, a democrat supporter of Yeltsin, a noted patriot at the Congress of Russian Communities, an ardent supporter of Luzhkov and, finally, an obedient Putin” [ 1].

Married for the third marriage, four children: son Alexey (from his first marriage), daughter (from his second marriage) and two daughters (Ksenia and Yaroslava) from his third marriage to Evgenia Efimova.

Personal life

Gusev's personal life is very eventful. There is no detailed information about Marina’s first life partner, except that she gave her husband her only son, Alexei. The second wife was Svetlana Amanova, who played the role of Tanya in Sportloto-82. The actress's stormy romance with the then unknown journalist ended with a wedding and the birth of her daughter Catherine. The couple divorced, maintaining an even relationship.

Pavel registered his third and, as it turned out, most scandalous marriage with publisher Evgenia Efimova, who is one year older than his son. Three children were born, all girls - Ksenia, Alexandra and Yaroslava. The Internet was full of happy photos of people together. Gusev managed to share the details of his acquaintance and the secrets of his biography with Timur Kizyakov in the program “While everyone is at home.”

How happy we were…….

Pavel Gusev and Evgenia Efimova
After 23 years of marriage, Evgenia filed for divorce. The husband's infidelity was cited as the basis. The statements filed by both spouses to the police added fuel to the fire. On the part of the woman - accusations of pressure and threats, on the part of the man - of theft of a collection of expensive works of art and books.

In addition, Efimova demands the division of property. The subject of the dispute is residential and non-residential real estate, shares and shares of companies, including the joint-stock companies “MK Publishing House” and “Editorial office of the newspaper “Moskovsky Komsomolets””. The capital estimate reported in the media is 30 billion rubles. Paul himself called it exaggerated. This figure, by the way, caused a stream of publications, the authors of which wondered what Gusev’s earnings would be. Articles were published talking about his “secret business” in America, about paid courses for journalists organized “under the roof” of the Ministry of Defense.

What was in the “suitcases” of media tycoon Pavel Gusev?

What was in the “suitcases” of media tycoon Pavel Gusev?

On October 11, judge Artem Kuzmichev of the Presnensky District Court of Moscow considered case No. 02-4260/2018 on the division of property between the editor-in-chief of Moskovsky Komsomolets Pavel Gusev and his wife Evgenia Efimova. As you know, the editor-in-chief’s wife claims exactly half of the jointly acquired property, and Gusev himself categorically disagrees with her claim.

Kokorin and Mamaev took the fire upon themselves

How many journalists do you think came to cover the process where “supposedly 30 billion rubles” are to be divided? That's right - one. The entire flower of Russian crime journalism was on duty all day, first near the temporary detention center on Ostashkovskaya Street, then on the territory of the Tverskoy Court, from where they described second-by-second what they were breathing and how many times they coughed two “bloody criminals of all times and peoples” - football players of the Russian national team Kokorin and Mamaev.

As expected, neither Pavel Gusev nor Evgenia Efimova came to court in person. Evgenia’s lawyer, Alexander Dobrovinsky, was also not present. Last time, he publicly promised to find his opponent’s secret accounts abroad and, apparently, he is now actively doing just that.

His colleague Marina Dubrovskaya, who represented Efimov, showed with all her appearance that she was set up for a serious “battle.” To the question “how does their client feel?” Marina answered rhetorically: “How can a person feel who was put out on the street and now they want to take everything away?!”

The lawyers of the owner of the MK empire - two young men dressed to the nines - entered the conference room a little late. What immediately caught my eye was that Pavel Nikolayevich’s defenders were rolling behind them on a heavy suitcase on wheels. Apparently, with valuable documentation confirming that he is “naked as a falcon.” Or - with compromising information on your wife.

The meeting was held behind closed doors - the journalist was not allowed into the hall.

Threats, theft, compromising sex

Pavel Gusev - Evgenia Efimova... We omit the love story - it’s no longer relevant. The 44-year-old entrepreneur (she is the general director of the United Editorial Board of Publications of the Mayor and the Government of Moscow, which publishes over two dozen publications) and 69-year-old Pavel Gusev have been married for 23 years, they have three daughters together - Ksenia, Yaroslava and Alexandra.

Mother-in-law of Pavel Gusev and his peers

Let us remember that at the beginning of summer, information about the impending separation of the married couple was leaked to the press.
A little later, the reason became clear - “regular betrayals of the editor-in-chief of Moskovsky Komsomolets.” Evgenia Efimova filed a lawsuit for the division of all jointly acquired property. And then the country experienced a shock: Efimova’s lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky announced the amount of the claim - “about 30 billion rubles
. In August, Pavel Nikolaevich tried to explain himself through his newspaper and called on the public not to believe in “mythical billions,” but this only “added fuel to the fire.” Many began to calculate his assets, and the defense of the deceived wife listed “the invisible part of the golden iceberg” - real estate in Russia, “estates in Corsica, Paris and Finland, secret accounts abroad.” This is not counting the most powerful “MK-empire”.

The month before the current court hearing turned out to be “hot” for the defendants. In early September, Evgenia complained to the police about regular threats from her husband - he allegedly demanded that she drop the lawsuit. He changed all the locks in the apartment, took away her car, and now she is seriously “afraid for herself and her children.”

On September 11, Pavel Gusev wrote a statement to the Presnensky police station, accusing his wife of stealing “a collection of his personal books and paintings by famous artists worth about $2 million.” They talked, among other things, about rarities - lifetime editions of Pushkin and Lermontov. According to Marina Dubrovskaya, “Pavel Gusev, having staged the loss of books, is trying to put pressure on Evgenia.”

In response, Efimova told the SUPER portal about the reasons for the divorce: “He brought young girls to our house, and then got them jobs at Moskovsky Komsomolets.” At the same time, Alexander Dobrovinsky gave a frank interview to FLB (see “Took girls to the marital bed”), in which he revealed many piquant nuances of the couple’s separation and his personal relationship with him.

On September 24, Efimova was summoned for questioning - she was suspected of a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 “Fraud committed by an organized group either on a particularly large scale, or resulting in the deprivation of a citizen’s right to residential premises.” Soon it became known about searches in the apartments of her mother, brother and business partner. On October 10, A. Dobrovinsky wrote on his Facebook that the day before he accompanied Evgenia’s mother, “the 71-year-old unfortunate mother-in-law of Pavel Gusev,” for interrogation at the Central Administrative District Internal Affairs Directorate.

This is the kind of battle with elements of “crime” that broke out on the eve of the trial.

“Do you want us to be deprived of our status?”

The meeting lasted a little over an hour. But it was never possible to find out what exactly was discussed and what the judge decided. Two lawyers of Pavel Gusev rolled out their suitcases and said that they would not comment on anything.

“Everyone is commenting on this,” one of them nodded maliciously towards defender Evgenia Efimova.

But the “supposedly talkative” lady lawyer turned out to be on the same “wavelength” with her colleagues. “The process is closed. You can’t say anything,” that’s all Dubrovskaya said. “Do you want me to be deprived of my status?”

In his time, the FLB court reporter has witnessed many trials - semi-closed, closed, secret, where large-scale bribers, corrupt officials, murderers, maniacs, “werewolves in uniform” and even traitors to the motherland were tried. Their lawyers were almost always open to the press. What about lawyers? The other day, after a closed meeting of the Supreme Court, former colonel from the security department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, and now a prisoner, Alexander Lamonov posed for photographers and even gave a quick interview.

But I have never encountered such “special secrecy” before.

Well, in a sense, people can understand: money loves silence. And big money – even more so.

PS Soon a line appeared on the court’s website: “Case No. 02-4260/2018 was postponed until November 15. The reason is “request for evidence.” This means that new “suitcases” will soon appear in action...

Carier start

Pavel Gusev was born five years after the end of the war (1949) into an intelligent family. His father was a linguist, a WWII participant, and later worked as editor-in-chief of the newspaper Vneshtorgizdat. My mother spent her entire life designing theatrical and stage costumes. For example, she designed costumes for the world-famous ensembles “Beryozka” and “Gzhel”.

Pavel Gusev studied well at school. Like many of his peers looking for romance, he entered the Ordzhonikidze Geological Institute. During his studies he was an active member of the Komsomol. In 1975, after receiving a diploma of higher education, he continued his scientific work within the walls of the same university. At the same time, he worked as secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee.

His career in the ranks of the Communist Party developed rapidly. In 1983, he became editor-in-chief of Moskovsky Komsomolets. The first time in this position was difficult. After all, Pavel Nikolaevich did not have a specialized education and got acquainted with the profession in practice. Therefore, there was no time to rest; we often had to spend the night right in the editorial office. In the mid-80s, Gusev received a second higher degree in literature. After all, in order to be a good organizer, you need to know the profession from the inside.

Criticism

Viktor Shenderovich said that Gusev started

“his public evolution as a rock-solid member of the Central Committee of the Komsomol, before our eyes he successively surfaced as a perestroika of the Gorbachev wave, a democrat supporter of Yeltsin, a noted patriot at the Congress of Russian Communities, an ardent supporter of Luzhkov and, finally, an obedient Putin”[15].

Describing the arrival of P. N. Gusev in “MK”, in the federal newspaper “Solidarity” under the leadership of A. K. Isaev, later a state deputy. The Duma of the Russian Federation noted:

“At that time, the most important advantage of the editor-in-chief (fortunately, they all came from the nomenklatura and had never worked as correspondents or columnists) was the ability not to interfere with journalists making a newspaper. Gusev possessed this art”[16].

Senior researcher at the Department of Head and Neck Tumors of the Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "N. N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology" Maxim Rykov accused Pavel Gusev of withdrawing an article by "Moskovsky Komsomolets" about the situation at the "N. N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology", 5 minutes before going to press. According to him, they fired doctors en masse and did not pay them salaries; during a hospital visit, the media locked the rooms; threatened the parents of sick children to remove them from treatment, which is tantamount to death, for communicating with journalists; about issuing deliberately false conclusions from the Ministry of Health about the actual situation in the hospital.[17]
