She was born into a family of evangelical Christians. Has English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, German, vaguely French and Portuguese roots[1]. Her father gave an anti-Semitic speech in church:

Attended Christian schools.

In 2003, she graduated from high school and moved to Los Angeles.

I took a short course in Italian opera at the Music Academy of the West, studied guitar, etc.

At age 15, while singing in a church choir, she was noticed by Nashville rock artists who encouraged her to develop her songwriting skills.

Signed a contract with the Christian music label Red Hill Records.

In 2001, her first album was released.

At age 17, she moved to Los Angeles, where she began working with composer Glen Ballard as part of her contract with Island Records.

In 2004, she teamed up with The Matrix team.

In 2007, she entered into a contract with the recording company Capitol Music Group (Capitol Records).

Lukasz Gottwald co-wrote the songs "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot n Cold".

Soon, Madonna promoted the aspiring singer’s song “Ur So Gay.”

In 2008, she participated in the filming of the television series “The Young and the Restless.” She was a backing vocalist on Gavin Rossdale's "Another Night in the Hill".

In 2009, she appeared as a guest artist in the songs “Starstrukk” by the American group 3OH!3 and “If We Ever Meet Again” together with Timbaland.

In 2020, she became the face of Moschino and was declared the highest paid musician by Forbes magazine (similarly in 2018).

In 2020, her song “Rise” became the official anthem of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2020, she participated in the recording of Calvin Harris’ song “Feels.”

In April 2013, she joined UNICEF to help children in Madagascar with education and nutrition. On December 3, 2013, she was officially appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

In September 2010, she helped build and design the Hope Orphanage in Baltimore, Maryland.

In 2020, she donated $1 million to Donors Choose to improve educational experiences for students around the world.

In the presidential elections she supported Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Also supports organizations aimed at helping people suffering from diseases, including cancer and HIV/AIDS.

He advocates for LGBT rights and against homophobia, and also supports feminism.

[edit] Perry and the scandal with producer Gottwald

During the litigation between Lukas Gottwald and singer Kesha, who accused him of rape, correspondence between Kesha and Lady Gaga became known, in which the singers discussed their information that Gottwald took advantage of his status and raped not only Kesha, but also Perry[3]. The point of the correspondence is that Gaga and Kesha were outraged that Perry refused to support Kesha[4], since, according to Gaga, Perry is afraid of losing everything:

Kesha: She was raped by the same man. It's sick. Lady Gaga: She is probably really afraid to lose everything[5].

Perry denied that the producer raped her.[6]

Gaga later reconciled with Perry.

"Teenage Dream"

In 2009, Katy Perry performed on MTV. The show's soundtrack appeared around the same time. That same year, the singer made tabloid headlines for her relationship with British comedian Russell Brand. The couple got engaged during the New Year holidays, which they spent in India. And on October 23, 2010, during a traditional Hindu ceremony, they registered their marriage in India. According to The Times of India, the wedding was accompanied by a procession of camels, elephants and horses, as well as performances by fire jugglers, snake charmers, dancers and musicians. Perry previously dated Gym Class Heroes member Travis McCoy.

The young pop star had big plans for the future. According to the singer, her desire was to equalize her name with Madonna. Her album Teenage Dreams was released in August 2010. On the Billboard charts, the single California Gurls quickly rose to number 1. Other hits soon followed, including the title track and "Fireworks."

The union with Russell Brand did not last long - the Briton filed for divorce in December 2011. On the professional front, things were much better for Perry. With the success of Teenage Dreams, she became one of the country's top pop stars.
