— Did your father try to help you, give you any advice?
— In this case, we have completely different areas of activity. It's like I was giving him advice on how to write music. When I first started, he supported me, but now I’m on my own.
—Have you ever wanted to follow in your father’s footsteps?
— I have been making music for many years. Now we are preparing the premiere of the play “Arcadia” at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, for which I created the musical score, and I am going to write the soundtrack for the film. But my father and I have different tastes. I play trip-hop style. Although dad came to our concert and even liked it.
— How do you feel about the fact that you are perceived primarily as the son of Andrei Makarevich, and not as a separate creative unit? Aren't you offended?
“I’ve never waved my name around.” I didn’t even enter the theater school right away (Ivan studies at GITIS. - Author’s note). At first I entered the course with Alexey Guskov - I failed. I went to Konstantin Raikin, but he kicked me out - we didn’t see eye to eye. Now I am studying with Sergei Anatolyevich Golomazov.
In general, I know how to filter all this, I’m used to it since childhood that everyone pays attention to my last name. But I’m not going to catch up with anyone, imitate anyone. I am an independent person, and the main thing is that I am not ashamed of myself.
