Ivan Makarevich in childhood
Having decided to become a student at a theater university again the next year, Ivan chose not an educational institution, but a specific teacher. Studies

Since childhood, Ivan Makarevich dreamed of becoming a baker. In one of his interviews, he even joked about this topic, saying that if he doesn’t achieve anything in music and cinema, he will work on buns and cakes. But he was drawn to creativity more than to the kitchen. Therefore, in 2004, Ivan entered the Moscow Art Theater for Raikin’s acting course. But Makarevich did not study there for long. The young man did not find a common language with the artistic director.

Music

Since childhood, Ivan drew well and was interested in music. At first he studied guitar at a music school, following the example of his father. But after 2 years of studying, I realized that this instrument did not correspond to his inner world. Makarevich tried many musical instruments and, having discovered a djembe - a small African drum - in the attic, he felt that this was exactly what he was looking for.

James Oklahoma - Swords

Ivan likes drums, as these instruments provide the basis of music - rhythm. At school, Makarevich was a member of the group “Nobody's Home”; later he worked in two teams at once - the alternative group “Ant Principle” and the hard rock band “Stinky”.

Over time, the musician, performing under the pseudonym James Oklahoma, changed his style and focused on electronic music and trip-hop. The actor writes soundtracks for films and theater productions. Ivan Makarevich: the beginning of the biography

The young man was born in 1987, on June 30. He is the middle of three children of Andrei Makarevich. His mother, Alla Mikhailovna, a cosmetologist, separated from her husband two years after the birth of the heir, but managed to maintain a good relationship with him.

His father took an active part in Ivan’s fate, trying to instill a love of music. But two years of music school in guitar class was enough for the boy to understand: this was not for him. Ivan Makarevich became interested in playing the drums, which he still does to this day.

After graduating from the prestigious 45th gymnasium, the graduate went to storm the Moscow Art Theater School. He became a student, but was expelled a year later. I didn’t despair, having tried to start all over again at GITIS. He studied on the course of S. Golomazov, to whose theater he was subsequently invited. He showed himself superbly in graduation performances, playing Lariosik in “Days of the Turbins”, Vozhevatov in “Dowry”, Petrusha in “Demons”. Currently busy in “Arcadia” (Augustus Coverly) and “Kinomania. band".

Personal life

Ivan Makarevich avoids answering questions about his father and personal life; in interviews he prefers to talk only about creativity. The affair with classmate Nastasya Samburskaya turned out to be a rumor - the young people were just friends.

The actor is a fan of Evgeny Leonov and Yuri Nikulin, Kevin Spacey and Bill Murray, and there is no role model among his young colleagues. Ivan believes that they don’t make good films now; comedies are so difficult to understand.

Ivan Makarevich in 2020
Makarevich Jr. loves reading and swimming, especially diving. Whenever possible, he travels with his father to various exotic places on the planet to immerse himself in the underwater world. At the age of 14 he became a vegetarian and later a vegan. Girls who choose clothes made of leather and fur have no chance of meeting him. In search of the perfect wardrobe, in 2016, Ivan began collaborating with the Chipoodl brand and took the post of creative director of the brand.

“In our country, it’s hard to explain to people that there are things whose raw materials are obtained in horrendous ways.”

He periodically publishes advertising posts and links on Instagram and Facebook. For three years the actor was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses sect, banned in Russia, and since then he has been confident that no religion can be a source of knowledge or understanding of existence.

Ivan Makarevich now

Ivan, by his own admission, is slowly paving the way to America. In the States, the young man plans to study, and if things work out, then stay in a country where people involved in the film industry have one goal - art. At the same time, Makarevich still manages to film. Gregory of Constantinople is the man who awakened hope that all is not lost in Russia.

In 2019, the director’s noir thriller “Russian Demon” was released. The actor played the role of a modest designer who opened a restaurant for the sake of his beloved woman. But the business is threatened by a secret ill-wisher, and the hero takes up arms. “Raskolnikov of the 21st century,” as Ivan was nicknamed in the press, was most afraid of harming Ksenia Rappoport during filming. And he began developing the character by watching the drama “American Psycho” with Christian Bale and Willem Dafoe.

In the tragicomedy “Russian Brief. Issue 1” Makarevich starred as a second in the “showdown” between Nikita Efremov and Alexander Pal. His character in the series “It Never Happens” is the sophisticated and stylish Marlene. The actor came up with the hairstyle and outfit himself, and the film’s creator, Natalya Khlopetskaya, was very glad that the result was a unified vision of the hero.

At the Kinotavr festival, Konstantinopolsky and Makarevich presented a modern version of Alexander Ostrovsky’s play “The Thunderstorm”. In addition to Ivan, Victoria Tolstoganova, Alexey Makarov and Nikita Elenev played there.

Ivan Makarevich: “Ivan the Terrible and I only have the same names”

They say that nature rests on the children of talented parents. But our stars refute this truth with all their might - the lists of famous singers and actors have long been replenished with bright names: Liza Boyarskaya, Alika Smekhova, Kristina Orbakaite...

22-year-old actor Ivan Makarevich - the son of Andrei Makarevich and his second wife Alla Romanova - began to be called a discovery after the films “Shadowboxing” and “1814”. And after the Rossiya TV series “Ivan the Terrible,” where Ivan played the young king, he may become a star.

— Ivan, how did you get involved in this project?

- Andrei Andreevich Eshpai (director of the series - author's note) came to our institute for an exam, he liked me. I know that I had many competitors, I was very worried during the auditions, but I got the role. And I'm glad. It is important for me to have worthwhile work; I never agree to everything.

— How did you prepare?

— I bought a sea of historical literature. But after some time I realized: I won’t need it. We did not play historical facts, but living people.

— Did you have to change your appearance in any way for the role? — I myself am pale, thin, with bruises under my eyes, so they didn’t even put much makeup on me. He grew a beard. And I still haven’t parted with her. I really liked the costumes on set. I even took home two printed robes. I really wanted to take red boots with curved toes, but they didn’t give me one (laughs). I learned to ride a horse - we were specially sent to a riding school. Exciting! Especially when the horse galloped away a couple of times. I already knew how to handle a bow. But it turned out well: as a child, like any boy, I was fascinated by weapons and really wanted to learn how to shoot. And our acquaintances, athletes, specifically taught me. So during filming it was just necessary to restore my skills.

— Was there any episode from the life of Tsar Ivan that particularly struck you?

“His whole life is a monstrously interesting story.” He was a terribly downtrodden child who was not even allowed to say a word. He read a lot, was a very educated and intelligent person, but few people were interested in him. Childhood left such an imprint on him. I was always interested in feeling what was going on in the heads of such people.

— Besides the fact that you are namesakes, do you have much in common?

- Thank God no. At times this role was very difficult to play. I am not a tough, not at all aggressive person. It was not easy for me to understand many of the actions of Ivan the Terrible.

— Did your father try to help you, give you any advice?

— In this case, we have completely different areas of activity. It's like I was giving him advice on how to write music. When I first started, he supported me, but now I’m on my own.

—Have you ever wanted to follow in your father’s footsteps?

— I have been making music for many years. Now we are preparing the premiere of the play “Arcadia” at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, for which I created the musical score, and I am going to write the soundtrack for the film. But my father and I have different tastes. I play trip-hop style. Although dad came to our concert and even liked it.

— How do you feel about the fact that you are perceived primarily as the son of Andrei Makarevich, and not as a separate creative unit? Aren't you offended?

“I’ve never waved my name around.” I didn’t even enter the theater school right away (Ivan studies at GITIS. - Author’s note). At first I entered the course with Alexey Guskov - I failed. I went to Konstantin Raikin, but he kicked me out - we didn’t see eye to eye. Now I am studying with Sergei Anatolyevich Golomazov.

In general, I know how to filter all this, I’m used to it since childhood that everyone pays attention to my last name. But I’m not going to catch up with anyone, imitate anyone. I am an independent person, and the main thing is that I am not ashamed of myself.
